Great video Rob. I must own 5 stud sensors from zircon to black and decker. This model you used in your demonstration, I've found to be the best and most accurate. Great tips too. Thanks for sharing.
Something you should point out is that the stud sensor uses the drywall screws to register. The stud detector has a magnet inside and lights up when it detects metal in close proximity not wood
The Zircon stud sensor is an electronic stud sensor that locates studs by scanning fluctuations in wall density. www.studlocator.com/magnetic-vs-electronic/
You don't actually calibrate it. Place it against the wall, press and hold the button and gently slide it slowly across the wall until the light hits the top peak. That is the edge of the stud. They are 1.5" wide. You can repeat the procedure going the opposite way to verify the other edge of the stud. If you are having difficulty getting a good reading you may need a new battery or maybe the wall is plaster and lathe. Plaster walls have wood lathe everywhere which screws up the stud finder readings. Good Luck! Cheers! Rob
