This Thursday was Harvard Housing day, one of the most iconic days of the year when Harvard school spirit is at an all time high. And it was awesome.

I truly want to go to Harvard. I am only 13 turning 14 and I am working hard enough and I am in a special program that requires "good grades" and a lot of hard work. I am also Canadian, YAY Go Canada!! Just writing this comment to say that this channel inspires me so much and makes me so much more motivated to continue furnishing effort into my work so that one day I can be as proud of my life success.

Well, be smart and do competitions
Killer Dog you dont need to be smart. Just try your hardest and get good grades. Ive heard even if you dont have the best test scores your essay is an important part into getting into harvard
But still make sure you strive for a perfect score, because if you do in the end worst case scenario you still have an above average or really good score

So, is the housing system random? What makes a house top tier?
Location I think? From what I've heard some of the houses are a lot closer to the main campus than other
You can also change houses if you want (that's from what I've heard)
I believe 3 of them are far away and the rest of relatively close and on a lake? and the quad has said to have good food but is far away. So many students will cry whenever a housing group from the quad pops into their dorm.
Harvard has been renovating its houses one at a time. People want Lowell because it's the most recently updated.

I dont understand what was going on. Were you scared no houses would want you guys?
no it’s not that! it’s a random system, so you pick your “blocking group” which is the people you live with, and yourself and those people will be RANDOMLY assigned to a house. so most people have a top 2 or 3 houses they want and they get get really anxious and excited to find out what house they actually get! it’s completely random :) it’s not who ‘wants’ you! i hope this clears it up!

Daisy Alvarez the funny thing is that we don’t have a particular housing system. We have dorms that have different cultures. Some dorms are artsy and others like building stuff. We also mix all the underclassmen together so freshmen just don’t live with freshmen and it really builds up a culture
They literally have a massive concrete and metal building with windows and looks like a skatepark inside. Kinda cool, but not for me

My only knowledge of Harvard's inner workings so far, comes form the movie 'The social network'. So please forgive me if this sounds stupid, but aren't the dorms inside the 'houses'? If so then why do you already have a dorm before having a house?

Just from how these kids talk I can tell none of them have ever truly worried about being homeless. I'm not besmirching the hard work and dedication it takes to get into a school like Harvard even with all the advantages in life...It's just something I've observed about how people carry themselves. If it kind of sounds like I'm jealous, it's because I am.

Your seniors (apparently the representative of each house which is much like the house system in Indian schools) wearing their house uniforms & logos storm inside the freshman dorms to inform them in which they are placed in. The freshman can choose with whom they can live but not the house.

Shreyansh Nair prep books. The official SAT prep book is good. Make sure you know how the English language works for the English part and make sure you understand the fundamentals of algebra and geometry
