Jill and Nick such a wonderful and magical town of Scarborough lit with lovely lights and caroling...thanks for taking me with you on this lovely event!🥰😘
Wow….it’s Christmas coming, such fabulous lighting display. So love those beautiful decorations and awesome singing ❤😍Thank you guys for such awesome sharing 👍👍🤗
Like 86 👍 Hello from Naples, Florida. Holy cow, Scarborough really know how to do Christmas!! That was awesome. Hats off to Tescos and FareShare for their charities. Thanks for sharing with us, have a great week 💯
Ahhh now I feel all festive! Lovely to get a tour of Scarborough at Christmas and so lovely to see something like Scarborough Sparkle is free, it's so important to try to make things like that accessible at this time of year for all the family to enjoy rather than charging rip off prices at an already costly time of year. Hi Sanniz Christmas lights are just the best aren’t they? Yes we had snow but didn’t stick for long! Other places in the uk have had it heavier we believe! Have a lovely weekend! 👍❤️
thank you so much Dave and Kathy, whilst it doesn’t come close to the scale Americans dress up their houses some have really put in the effort! I feel like as a nation we are getting better each year!
Love the Magic of Christmas. Seasons Greetings Wonderful decorations. Love the Christmas Carols. Wow! The Hotels are amazingly decorated...beautiful. Merry Christmas Jill and Nichols. 🎄🎄🎄
Oh my!!! I love this Nick & Jill! The cheerful festive lights the train!…the cool deer characters…so cool! Everything looks amazing and sparkly and festive with the market and carnival. Wonderful place to see, thank you !
So many beautiful lights and hopefully a massive boost for Scarborough. I hope the stores and cafes are staying open a bit later so everyone enjoys their visit. I love seeing the festive shop displays as well. The train and market look great too. Well done Scarborough!!
Thanks Nettie, yes that used to be a thing didnt it? Late night shopping, particularly Thursday through Saturday. I haven’t seen any evidence of it yet, maybe it will start this week? have an awesome weekend!
Well now, that sure helps to put one in the holiday spirit for sure!! A little something for everyone...and I even think I saw a furry four-legged out enjoying the festivities!! Wonderful to see food drive as part of the festivities too. Awesome stuff!! Bruce and Otis
Awesome festival ❤ reminds me quite a bit of the German Christmas markets. Love the singing carolers. Beautiful displays and lights. Fabulous tree. The atmosphere was peaceful as it should be. Wow on the last part. 😮 Amazing mansions and lights. The lobster and crab 😅
Scarborough did an amazing job decorating, bringing the town together & back to life. Beautifully filmed & edited. You captured the beauty of this town & put us all in the Christmas Spirt🎄I especially loved the town caroling together. Sorry that I’m late watching. Have a fantastic Sunday my friends!
Great Christmas decorations and lights! Gives such a good feeling! I love this time... reminds me of my childhood so much! Thanks for sharing guys! Hope you have a great time 🌲🤠👋 Best regards Janis
Hi Nick and Jill what a lovely job they have done. We loved seeing the lights. What fantastic displays in the shop windows looks like they have really done a good job. The sparkle looked great good to see and hear people back out having fun. Those reindeers 4:18 where amazing. Well done tesco a great initiative. The boats looked supurb. A big 👍 best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤
Thank you Simon, yes, hopefully this is just the first video of a few that will take us through to the big day. No more filmed but we have a couple of exciting events to attend. hope you have a wonderful festive season! Nick and Jill
The lights are so beautiful and those shop windows were decorated so nicely. Love those big reindeer walking around - very cool. It's awesome that big companies like Tesco help those in need. Nice work visiting all these places!
It’s very uplifting this time of year! the cold seems to deter the types of people that loiter and the lights reflected everywhere gives a lovely warm fuzzy feeling!
Woohoo Christmas is on its way haha. I love this time of year when all the lights are coming on There's a special feeling on a cold winter's day to see so many places lit up, gives you a lovely glow - like the Readybrek advert !😃, though you're too young to remember that haha. . All the shops seem to have participated, the fun fair and stalls seem popular, the harbour and people's gardens all looking wonderful. Great to see everone joining in with the festive spirt and also remembering tnose less fortunate. Christmas light switch on events are becoming so popular and even in my small town we have a parade with Santa, Mary & Joseph including donkey and 3 wise men on camels 🐫 - yes that's right real camels !! I enjoy it so much I miss a days walking to go along - that's serious 😂🤣😂 Fab video thanks guys 🤗🤗♥️♥️
my word missing a day walking that is serious 😂 but a fab reason! we had the real life camels a few years back they must tour 😂 thanks for another awesome comment! much love and happy festivities 🎄❤️ p.s we both know and love the readybrek advert, whenever anyone glows Jill always mentions it 😂❤️
Hi Nick and Jill, this tour around the Scarborough walk was really enjoyable, really put us in the Christmas spirit, what with the Santa from the round table visiting us on our road earlier and now your video. I felt like a good Carol sing song. The shops had really gone to town on the decorations so well decorated. Loved all the Christmas lights, take care, have a great weekend , Julie and Tony x
Ah yes, that was great with the Santa, I hope Archie has recovered from the sighting! things certainly are looking better! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. love Nick and Jill
Wow!!! Look at all the beautiful lights!!! Christmas in Europe is just on a whole-nother level!!!! Beautiful window displays too!! Amazing!!! Aww we loved walking through Tesco on our recent trip to England! Too bad we could get the Tesco app to work on our American phones!! Had to put all our stuff back!! Grrrr! Maybe the fact that Tesco donates food will make me less bitter 😂
Scarbados certainly looks a lot different to the boarded-up Scarborough you brought us a couple of months back. Great to see Scarborough Sparkle is bigger than ever 🎉
Thank you Matt, yes if your walking around Scarborough looking up at the lovely twinkly lights you can happily ignore the boarded up shops! Scarborough Sparkle is a real credit to the town, the organisers do an incredible job with that, definitely my favourite part of the proceedings so far!
The Christmas lights are lovely and so nice to see that shops make an effort with their windows so people can enjoy wandering around looking at them. The carolers were great too, that's another old tradition that I thought was sort of dying out. And great that there are people who love to decorate their homes, my neighbour across the road has a full size nativity lit up each night (there's a fullsize Santa with a digital countdown on the balcony, he caters for the secular Christmas crowd as well!) Our lit up Christmas tree in the window isn't quite at the same level!
Hey both, I know Rach watched this earlier but I’m just back from work and we’re watching this now. I love seeing how different places do their Christmas decorations and Scarborough is looking good. Lovely tree, nice window displays. Loving the Christmas Wonderland shop! Mmm churros. Good to see the event back in action after covid and storms. Really living the reindeer costume / puppet things and the chanting too. Got to love a Christmas fair. Bar…now we’re talking. Where’s the mulled wine? Nice work promoting Fair Share charity. I’m a sucker for groups of Carol singers! Un interesting fact of the day, we went to the field of the shepherds once in Bethlehem, where it’s claimed the shepherds washed their socks by night (or something like that). Living the residential lights; we were thinking of doing a video about that sort of thing. Love the attractions and light installations. Ho ho ho and merry Christmas to you both too. Loved this x
wow, thats an amazing fact guys, never knew that! can just picture those shepherds doing that, undoubtedly the socks would dry in the morning sun (genius)! Sadly after watching the amazing art displays in Liverpool that are free for all on your video I couldn’t resist but end this one on a sour note. Typical of our Council the levelling up money here was spent on an expensive event which has closed off the towns favourite park. Looking forward to the festive content your channel will bring! 🍻
Hello Jill and Nick 👋. That’s amazing Christmas tour and I can’t wait also I’m on my way to other city to visit some Christmas Market. Have a great weekend 👍.
BRILLTASTIC video. Scarborough looks lovely for the tourists, shame they didn't spend it on important things (like the busses) i love this video and look forward to the next one ❤
Hi Jill & Nick! What a lovely festive video! I enjoyed seeing Scarborough lit up for Christmas. The shop window displays were great and it was really nice to see the Christmas market, nodding reindeer and carol singers. It was nice to see the art of giving too. The hotels and boats were beautifully decorated. Great editing on the video too. Merry Christmas! ❤🎄✨
great soundtrack and lovely lights. I love holiday lights. every year we go to the light show at the chicago botanical garden (it's not free though 😅) this has such a different feel being in town. the windows were sweet! really liked the deer and music, probably my fav parts. but the donation tree gets me in the feels. have a great weekend jilly and nick! 🛴❤️
Hi guys hope you are keeping well.a lovely festive video fantastic presentation love the way you filmed this in chapters the lights looked fantastic and a real xmass atmosphere vibe you managed to get filming this .have a great week and speak soonxx
Sound 👍😎. I did a vlog or Mini documentary as I would say about the Peasholm Park light Display....as well as the Alpamare pool..... this is grand... nice one 👍😎✌️
It looked very festive to be honest and I loved all the windows too. Would have been brilliant if the train had all been lit up too mind. The reindeer were very effective and great that it was all free. Shame about that pesky rain but it did not seem to spoil the fun. The hotels were fantastic, what a great effort they had made as well as some of the houses and boats. Loved the park, always great memories from there for me🎅, cheers Alan
It’s been nice that it all got started nice and early, with most things in place for over two weeks now. from yesterday they are ramping up events by turning on a street per day with additional festivities, we are looking forward to seeing that. the park that is at the centre of the 1.2 million levelling up fund is causing some National controversy at the moment as its a £12.50 admission charge with a £3 administration fee on top to enter. there is little to see in there and the park provides essential access from one part of the town to the other or was a haven for families and dog walkers is now closed from 4pm. it just highlights how little our Council thinks of us. Still there is plenty to enjoy all around and the town centre is a much more attractive proposition to walk around at this time of year!
@AlanMETALMAN it’s annoying and honestly there are only 5/6 installations to walk around, nothing on the magnificent scale of Auckland Castle you showed us last week. When other towns and cities are using their levelling up money to benefit all, to create an event that shuts our favourite park is unforgivable..
Great video - it did look good and very festive! Nice of Scarborough Council to invest all that levelling up money in some new Christmas decorations.... yeah I can see why everyone is frustrated with them. In Hartlepool where I work, some of the levelling up money is going the local shopping centre which needs a boost, a health care academy, upgrades to the train station, repairing a derelict chapel to turn it into a hotel, some money for a construction training academy, and revitalising the harbour area but no fairy lights!
that sounds a much better use of the money Andy. Our Council is absolutely useless. Back in October Rishi classed us with 46 other poor towns and cities as one of the places most needing in an improved high street. We have been granted a 20 million high street fund that will be rolled out over 20 years. my mind boggles trying to imagine what they will spend the first million on. the consultation fee to spend the levelling up money on putting an installation in the park and make people pay to see it cost £150,000. A £150,000 consultation fee? this Council is as crooked as they come..
@@GENerationXplorers I don't think there is much of an answer to the high street issue without diversifying the streets into other leisure opportunities, or banning e-commerce all together. Sunderland Council created Sunderland Bid which tries to rebuild the town centre into a more leisure focused area. Locals (on facebook) are very critical but but as an outsider I can see what they are trying to achieve. The high street as we know it is dead, some locals seem to think the council could have stopped Wilko closing - that was a national issue and a commercial one at that. In some respects I feel some pity for councils as they are often damned if the do and damned if they don't. Spending levelling up money on christmas lights is a step too far though.
That was so Christmassy, the council have spent a lot of money on this and it was lit up beautifully, loved the tunnel and all of the natural sounds including the carol singers :) So nice to see the little train and the reindeer, they were great. Good idea to have the food donation point there. The hotels looked so good with all of the decor and so did the houses. The harbour was done up so lovely and was my favourite part with all of the boats lit up. I wondered what you meant near the end about the spending that the residents werent happy about ? Was it the big amount of money in these lights ? Great video 👍~ Anna ❤
The lights in Peasholm Park, a park that is free usually throughout the rest of the year has had sections closed off and the council have chosen to charge £30 for a family of four to view the installations pricing out most families who normally use the park for free. Additionally, this installation was paid for using the leveling funds so the opinion in the town is that the council are just profiteering and completely out of touch.
thanks Anna, to be fair the shop windows, street lights and wonderful Scarborough Sparkle always go ahead and are a similar standard each year. for this year the Council was granted 1.2 million extra to provide A Christmas Lights display. Where other towns and cities have spent the money on installations everyone can enjoy and benefit from for free our Council have sadly shut down our beloved park and are charging people £12.50 to enter with a £3 admission charge on top. There is not much to see in there with people that did pay saying that they had more fun in the lobby of Tescos than walking through the park! the event is now unattended save for the dozen or so Council workers that are paid to stop people getting in!
Hi Nick and Jill Thank you so much for bringing up holiday Spirits on December 1st wowow December? No wonder Amazon Prime started to send me boxes after boxes....ooops Did I order? hahaha It is such a traditional way to celebrate this beautiful season... Nick, well done filming and of course editing. I feel the warmth, family bonding, and joy. I really would love to know the origin of those creatures or dancing as Xmas spirit. Viking? Indigenes PPL in the UK?? haha No Idea. Bravooooo! Happy Holidays!!!
We can’t blame you Ms Kayak, there were some wonderful items discounted on Black Friday this year and, cough, cough, we have been receiving boxes after boxes ever since! the high street cannot compete! I would love to find out more about the stag/giraffe people there is a chance we might see them again, I shall be sure to ask!
You Europeans really do well with your Christmas lights. The houses that do the Christmas lights around here switched on this week. Makes our nightly dog walk a delight. A cynic might say Tescos is profiteering on the charitable giving. Where do the donations come from? Bought at Tescos? Excellent initiative though. The charities around here get hammered at Christmas time. There is so much need just for basic foodstuffs.
Hi there Shane glad to hear your neighbours are to in the Christmas Spirit making your night time doggy walk a delight! All our supermarkets have big bins on the exits for shoppers to pop something in on the way out! They are always full, Tescos is just publishing this fact more we think! They probably do gain to profit if it gets more people in buying and donating! It’s always this time of year you get bombarded with charities every other advert on tv is a charity one! Have a great week ahead! 👍❤️
Awesome video, super duper well done! 👌Whilst I can get into the Christmas spirit watching this, the lights, the shop fronts and the displays, I also get an eery gut feeling. What a LOT of money spent. Less is more? Or am I being a Scrooge. Just imagine what half the amount would have done to help families in need and still have a great Christmas feel. Wonder what the 'designer' of this plan cost? Oh yes I am being nit picky. To all those reveling in the Christmas Spirit, I'm not a doom thinker, more a realist. What happens after 1st January? How do the councils intend to upgrade, fill empty shops or redesign the way we 'use' the city centre in todays world? Just saying. Anyway: The Necessity Tree was awesome. So what if the supermarket who runs this profits? So do their staff ( keeping employed) and the suppliers of the goods. It's a (food)chain. I'm glad they put their energy into helping others and bringing awareness to the plight of those in need. Want to be part of the solution? Share, be aware, don't shop online and give generously. Happy Christmas everyone. 🌺🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿🩷🎄
Wow Anita you always leave awesome comments but this knocks them all out of the park! Very well said lovely lady! Have a great week! And stay awesome ❤️❤️
Well if that doesn't put one in a Christmas mood nothing will. Very cheery and bright. We don't have a Christmas Fair anymore here. The city council is 'looking at renewal' and 'something more in line with today's population'. Hmmm. I'll be curious what we will have next year, or not! We have plenty of other places to choose from so that's what we do. Go elsewhere. HAve a great lead up time to Christmas. Stay warm. ☃🔥⭐ 🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿
Even as a devolved council, the obscene prices charged for viewing the installations in Peasholm Park just shows how completely out of touch the council are with families who live in Scarborough. The fact that the installation was paid for using leveling up funds too just shows how little they truly care.
Exactly! Sadly it’s the same bunch of cronies that made indecisions and poor decisions previously. when you compare how the levelling up money was spent here to how it has provided joy for millions for free in other towns and cities it really does show how little respect they have for us locals. All I see in passing now is a dozen or so Council workers protecting the park from people who would normally walk there. not many people opting to “enjoy” the festival of lights.
@@GENerationXplorers The council have been getting away with consistent poor and detrimental decisions for decades. There has never been any accountability as those involved are only working towards their own interests. You will be hard pressed to find anyone in Scarborough when you mention the council who doesn't laugh pity you for expecting any competence from them. I hoped the devolution would improve the situation but we've replaced one problem with a team in north Allerton who cares even less.
@BoomDoll they really are the most shocking lot. I was presuming that even after devolution the same councillors that represent the wards in Scarborough would still be making poor decisions on behalf of us blighted residents?
Thanks! With a bit of digging there is investigations on how much Scarborough spends on “consultations”. The Peasholm Park having festive lights “consultation” cost £150,000!
thank you Leon, yes the Council have squandered their levelling up money on an event most residents cannot afford to see and those that do? they come back unimpressed!
WOW! I’m totally at a loss as what to say. At the beginning I watched with total distain at the ostentatious displays of lights and shops displaying atrocious wealth and exuberance. I thought to myself this surely can’t be a Nick & Jill film promoting the virtues of modern day capitalism. Then my blood pressure dropped when I saw the Tesco food campaign. Yes there are people sleeping tonight in freezing cold conditions who certainly don’t deserve to be in that situation. Every town and city is full of homeless people and I feel ashamed that I’m able to afford a nice warm flat and comfortable bed. Unfortunately we can’t ever change the sad situation we find ourselves in. I’m heading off to my bed now feeling depressed. I truly don’t know how to change today’s selfish society. 😡
ah thanks Mike, its a sad one, we didn’t really know how or where to go with this one. have to be honest it was rushed. but the British homeless situation? that’s been on our lips for the longest time. we really wanted to boss that but we got so confused. we got involved with people that were protesting against migrants in army camps at the same time homeless were being turfed out of hotels. couldn’t get a real handle on it, that being said millions of Brits are going hungry through food poverty and some of those are homeless whilst we house more illegal migrants than ever before. its a mindfield. we wont have any clear commentary on it until the next Government action or inaction..
What a beautiful upload.
Lights are gorgeous 🥰
So glittery and shining 🌟

That sounds amazing! Love it when people get on board and share their Christmas cheer! Hope carol singing doesn’t die out! Have a great weekend 👍
Fabulous job editing, Nick! This is a gorgeous video!!
thank you so much Dara! hated every second of this, so last minute! could have done with another week to build up to this ♥️
Thanks for sharing 😊
Never been up to Scarborough over the Christmas period, it looks amazing 🎄
Hope you are well.
Morgs Jo and Boo 🐕 ❤ xx
Thanks guys! We are well hope you are too! Yeah Scarborough has made quite the effort this year! Catch you soon and cuddles for boo 🐶❤️
Hello Jill and Nick 👋. That’s amazing Christmas tour and I can’t wait also I’m on my way to other city to visit some Christmas Market. Have a great weekend 👍.
Superb Kenn, look forward to seeing which Markets you visit! Safe travels 👍
BRILLTASTIC video. Scarborough looks lovely for the tourists, shame they didn't spend it on important things (like the busses) i love this video and look forward to the next one ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Have a great weekend Mr Brilltastic 👍❤️
Thank you! You too Julie and Lucie! hope you are having a great weekend ❤️
great soundtrack and lovely lights. 🛴❤️
Thank you so much Anne! loving you festive logo 👍❤️
@@GENerationXplorers thanks!

awesome video, nick and jill.
thank you so much Kenneth, its a great way to start the festive proceedings!
I didn't know you had a TRAIN 🚂 too?! And full on Christmas market food?! And giant dancing lighted stags? 🦌 I'm impressed!😮
the stags were my favourite, wish I knew more about them ♥️
Fantastic vlog.
Thank you 😊
Loved the BTS footage 😉
All the way from South Korea! 😂
👍 👍 👍 See you soon
Sound 👍😎. I did a vlog or Mini documentary as I would say about the Peasholm Park light Display....as well as the Alpamare pool..... this is grand... nice one 👍😎✌️
I will have to check that out Dave thanks! 👍
@@GENerationXplorers - shocking that about the park!
Hi guys blimey they don't do things by half up there .. all looks very nice 👍
Thanks Glyn👍 they seem to have put more effort in this year, maybe making up for the closed shops! have a good week ❤️
Indah keren sekali temanku
Thank you! Have a great day 👍
Good widio beatiful
Thank you very much 👍❤️
Great video - it did look good and very festive!
@@BoomDoll Ah OK thanks for explaining this, that's bad!
thanks Anna, to be fair the shop windows, street lights and wonderful Scarborough Sparkle always go ahead and are a similar standard each year. for this year the Council was granted 1.2 million extra to provide A Christmas Lights display. Where other towns and cities have spent the money on installations everyone can enjoy and benefit from for free our Council have sadly shut down our beloved park and are charging people £12.50 to enter with a £3 admission charge on top. There is not much to see in there with people that did pay saying that they had more fun in the lobby of Tescos than walking through the park! the event is now unattended save for the dozen or so Council workers that are paid to stop people getting in!
it truly is shocking and a criminal use of the levelling up money. I hope there is an external inquiry into the decision making process!
@@GENerationXplorersOoo dear, not good, thanks for explaining 👍Have a good weekend ❤
Hi Nick and Jill
Thank you so much for bringing up holiday Spirits on December 1st
wowow December? No wonder Amazon Prime started to send me boxes after boxes....ooops Did I order? hahaha
It is such a traditional way to celebrate this beautiful season...

Watching
Thank you ❤️
Well if that doesn't put one in a Christmas mood nothing will. Stay warm. ☃🔥⭐ 🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿
Hi Anita oh that sounds disappointing bath humbug city council! Glad you can go elsewhere for Christmas cheer! You too 👍❤️
Even as a devolved council, the obscene prices charged for viewing the installations in Peasholm Park just shows how completely out of touch the council are with families who live in Scarborough.
@@GENerationXplorers I think it's still Derek Bastiman. No surprises there.
Thanks! With a bit of digging there is investigations on how much Scarborough spends on “consultations”. The Peasholm Park having festive lights “consultation” cost £150,000!
So does Gringos sell Texan food?!
it is an amazing Mexican restaurant. up there with the best!
It is very nice. Seems like a lot of money though. 🤔
thank you Leon, yes the Council have squandered their levelling up money on an event most residents cannot afford to see and those that do? they come back unimpressed!
Views are going wrong again 😮
Yeah, seems a long standing issue pal, I’ve tried contacting them directly with proof, no answer.
@@GENerationXplorers Absolutely ridiculous 🙄
ah thanks Mike, its a sad one, we didn’t really know how or where to go with this one. have to be honest it was rushed. but the British homeless situation? that’s been on our lips for the longest time. we really wanted to boss that but we got so confused. we got involved with people that were protesting against migrants in army camps at the same time homeless were being turfed out of hotels. couldn’t get a real handle on it, that being said millions of Brits are going hungry through food poverty and some of those are homeless whilst we house more illegal migrants than ever before. its a mindfield. we wont have any clear commentary on it until the next Government action or inaction..
cool chrismtas events
