Going by the trailer this is going to be the most nominated movie at the either Oscars or the Razzies

The trailer seems promising and exciting and Ridley Scott is sometimes a hit or Miss director. The Last Duel seems more back to his roots than House of Gucci
Im looking forward to it. He is hit or miss but when he hits its usually pretty amazing
Looking forward to Adam Driver’s performance in both of these Ridley Scott films. It’s another big year for Driver, between Annette, House of Gucci, The Last Duel, the movie 65 (which might not be released this year) and the currently filming adaptation of the novel White Noise.
I could care less whether the film is going to be received warmly by critics or not. All I care about is Gaga being nominated and eventually winning. She has been underrated and called like, "she can't act".
Hate to say it but if you’re annoyed by people saying “she can’t act”, there is no way in hell this will change that. People who dislike her and hate on her will only dislike her more and hate on her more after this. Seems way to hammy of a performance for her to win, she could get nominated based on fame though
Well if its not well received she wont even be nominated..
If Lady Gaga and Jared Leto inevitably get nominated for this film, I seriously hope Adam Driver can score his 3rd acting nomination with either this, The Last Duel, or Annette. Regardless, other than this being his year, this is also easily Bradley Cooper's year and biggest shot at not only getting double nominated, but winning.
I just hope that Adam doesn't end up cancelling his own votes by being in multiple Oscar contenders, it happened with Amy Adams for Arrival and Nocturnal Animals I just hope that doesn't repeat in his case
Driver is definitely in the conversation for a double nomination with HoG in lead and The Last Duel in supporting.
@@TheOscarExpert I actually disagree. I think not only is the competition a bit too high, but the film quality of both of them, Last Duel especially, isn't impressive enough to where he can actually get nominated. Gaga and Leto yes, but Driver isn't even in my Top 8 right now

@@blacktoad2425 Well he should be. If he can get nominated for Blackkklansman then playing a Gucci as well as a villain in a Gladiator-esq Ridley Scott spectacle easily places him in the top 8 for a nomination in both categories.
Maybe I'm too casual, but this trailer won me over. It looks like A LOT of fun. Probably this year's Ford V Ferrari
The best part about this film is that whether it’s a Best Picture contender or hot trash, I will have a good time watching it guaranteed
I think it looks like a blast. The camp approach they are taking with this is the only way to go to be honest, whether it pays off remains to be seen. Awards-wise I can see so many paths for this. It could get 0 to 12 nominations.
The camp feeling could also lead to Razzies. Which I hope not..
It's awesome to think Gaga's debut film got 8 Oscar nominations with a single win bc of her and then her sophomore one is getting alot of Oscar buzz already. She's a walking treasure box.
I might be buying into the hype but this movie looks like it’s going the “American Hustle 11 nominations” route. With a high chance it winning at least one Oscar

@@richierich7229 I heard that people considered it as the front runner, and it has a good chance if the film will success. All The Money In the World was a box office fail with mixed critics. So if that will do good in the box office (good chance it is Lady Gaga) maybe it actually be Ridley's one (although I don't like him, but who the fuck asking me).
Either that or its going to be the most nominated movie at the Razzies. The accents and feeling looks camp..

I can see this tone and acting wise to Knifes out where the campy tone mixed with a variety of different characters from serious to over the top. I mean its about a rich high profile family so we have to expect craziness.

In any other context, I would consider this "camp". However, after watching interviews with the real Patrizia Reggiani and all 4 of the Gucci men portrayed - as well as learning about the details of the story behind the movie - I'm not exactly sure the performances here are all that heightened from the real people they're portraying. Also the level of dramatics and theatricality here is right in line with what was a VERY volatile and, frankly, hot mess of a family that just happened to, at one time, be at the top of the fashion house that bears their name to this day.
Intentionally or not, its still camp. That approach is the right way to go but we have to see if it pays off. It can turn out to be one of those so bad its good movies...

I’m so excited to see Lady Gaga in this, she looks very interesting from the trailer and the accent is very wacky and intriguing. I didn’t love the trailer but she really took me by surprise

I get the feeling this will get the Bombshell awards treatment and be received kind of like it as well (like, 65 on rotten tomatoes) so I'm only going to predict Lady Gaga in Lead, Jared Leto in Supporting, and Makeup for the Oscars
I think the last time when a director had two major contenders in one award season was in 2000 when Steven Soderbergh directed Erin Brokovich and Traffic (which both got nominated for Picture and Director eventually).
The trailers for Last Duel and House of Gucci look so great, I can see it happen this year for Ridley Scott.
I do think there’s a slight caution one takes whenever a pop star takes on a career in a different field of performing arts.
I remember when “A star is born” it was hyped and it did really well, again with this movie I feel people are cautious to say “it’s gonna be amazing” which is right and idk something tells me that we are in for a good time regardless 💀
Well Lady Gaga is Italian and she sounds exactly like Patrizia so...she did a good job with the accent.

Ridley Scott is very erratic as a director. After Black Hawk Down, for least a decade he couldn't make a good film to save his life. Only clearly got back on track with The Martian.
With Blonde moved to 2022 and Ana de Armas taken out of the race, Best Actress could be between Chastain, Gaga, and McDormand

Those three and Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Hudson are my top five. No idea who wins but Lady Gaga feels like the front runner to me.

I've kinda got the sense that the film is now the front runner for best picture and director, because of Ridley's narrative. It definitely could be the American Hustle of this year, and if the critics won't like it, it probably will be. But there's a good chance that if it will praised by the critics (and it will probably make a lot of money, because of Lady Gaga) it definitely could be front runner. For now I predicting it: picture, director, editing, costume design, make up and maybe more. I'll guess will see.

Let's see. I'm cautious with Gaga's performance. Let's see. it's not campy. A good campy and consistent performance cones from someone like Debbie Harry. Gaga's Gucci performance based on the trailer seems similar to her performance in the ending of "A Star Is Born". She ruined it by pandering to the camera. It was a music video performance. Sad because her performance in the whole movie was amazing. On point on the uncomfortable accents 0:29

Honestly, I don't see how this movie is all that "campy." If anything, it's just the editing of the trailer, but from the shots we've seen, nothing about it looks "campy" per se. I definitely think it'll be on the more dramatic side.
Well the accents for one are over the top but its intentionally done which makes it camp. It can work really well but it can also become just a so bad we enjoy it movie
@@Denis-89 I think the only person who's over the top is Jared Leto's character. Driver, Gaga, Pacino, etc. all seem like they're trying to have serious performances.

And Maurizio Gucci (portrayed by Adam Driver) was actually NOT a nerdy outcast. His father Rodolfo Gucci, portrayed by Jeremy Irons, owned a 50% share in the company at the time he died, which Maurizio inherited. The drama comes when his character tries to oust his uncle Aldo, played by Al Pacino, out of the company and buy out his cousin Paolo (played by Jared Leto). In the trailer they make it seem that it's at Patrizia's urging, which may or may not have been true. Ultimately it doesn't matter though, because the character Gaga is portraying was arrested and convicted of hiring the hitman that killed her ex-husband Maurizio. And that will be the "crime" part of this true crime/fashion history biopic on the Gucci family.

usually I watch movies with subs but for this one I think I'll watch the dubbed version because so far the accents are kinda offputting (I'm Italian)
I think this looks like All The Money In The World, which many of us were thinking was Oscar bound after the first trailer. If it were not for the reshoots with Christopher Plummer, the movie would have been completely shut-out. I definitely think the make-up will be nominated, but nothing else except maybe costumes. I think Ridley Scott will have better chances with The Last Duel, but even that could be shut-out like Kingdom of Heaven and Exodus: Gods & Kings. We shall see.
The trailer was giving me very ryan Murphy. Very american crime story: the people vs. OJ Simpson. I'm predicting 56 percent on rotten tomatoes

to play an Italian is it enough to use the mario accent? Is this worth an Oscar? It is really ridiculous and offensive. The Gucci family is rightfully suing for this. Enough of these old stereotypes for Italians. Leto seems completely out of role, offensive and did not understand the meaning of the film, like the others. The effect is just cringe.
