I had a privilege of visiting Robben Iceland and learning a lot about it for a week. In truth, that Iceland has more brutal and heart breaking history than what is being shown. More people were killed & tortures in that Island.. I'm glad this is coming out because from what I saw there, only two South Africans were arrested in that prison for 27yrs (Jeff and Nkosi) but sadly they are not honored as much as the ones who stays 10 & 18yrs, who used to vanish for 3days in the Island to go negotiate with the oppressors privately without the presence of their fellow prisoners. My people why have you acted so terribly against the LORD? Your parents had rebelled against the LORD, because they ignored His warnings and gave heed to deceitful people. Choices to intellectualize the contributions of Nelson Mandela is negligible at this point. Nelson’s stature is towering for many reasons, he had the intellectual girth to be reckoned with and he also had the discipline to execute the fundamentals of what was expected of a phenomenal leader. His sacrifice for the people of South Africa should in no way be analyzed from angles of dubious political or personal gesticulations. I don’t believe that facts should be held in the situation, however, it is important to ask the question: is this interview intended to assert facts or diminish an icon of remarkable accomplishment? Without Nelson, I wonder what the South African holistic story would have been? My respect to all well meaning and respectable Africans.

So you wanted the Apartheid regime to keep him in Robben Island under harsh condition without preparing him to lead the country? Do understand why there's a TRAINING before you take any serious job??? You guys think running a country is Walking around in the Bushes. That's your problem.

MK, under the instruction of the ANC waged a guerilla style war against Apartheid that targeted citizens.
The Wimpy bombing in Pretoria, the Toti Mall bombing in Amanzimtoti, the Ellis Park bombing. The list goes on.
Now, we won't move forward as a nation if we keep looking backwards.
Apartheid was evil. It was wrong. It was sickening, and it still is to think about 30 plus years later.
MK, and their allies during that time may have felt justified (and rightly so) to do some of the things they did, but it still doesn't make two wrongs into a right.
The TRC was imperfect in its execution. But it was the best we could do, and necessary.
It is very true that the TRC did not uncover enough of the crimes committed by the state against non-whites in this country. It is also true that they did not uncover enough of the crimes committed by liberation forces against the white communities.
What has made the TRC seem more imperfect is our fascination with dredging up the past. Our focus on the injustices.
Part of this is the ANC still, 30 years after democracy, blaming their failures on the National Party. Part of this is because of the politicians who choose racism over nation building and a disdain for the constitution they swear to uphold in their oath of office.
And unfortunately, we keep voting for them. We keep believing their lies while they steal from us. We perpetuate their criminal behaviour by becoming soldiers of their untruths.
We treat our fellow South Africans with suspicion and distrust. We feed our suspicions with hatred and contempt.
And this is why we will never truly be free.

Our history was distorted and the way we have obtained democracy on a dirty slate, that is why even today we are struggling to get our country in order. We are not going to get this country correct as long as we use propaganda, everybody who want to be rich is forming a political party. Because he or she knows that by receiving a seat in Parliament, poverty is done away with in his or her family. We need to look in this matter seriously it affects the whole country. The money which was supposed to help the is paying the political parties who are not of help to the needy, fellow SA citizens it is time to wake up and stand up and talk.

      1. The IFP and anc got on well up to 1979 when Dr MG Buthelezi (yes a real Doctor, unlike mandela) but this was ruined when Dr Buthelezi refused to use violence as means to overthrow the government.
      2. MK was the armed wing of the anc. These terrorists killed only civilians. But especially they concentrated on killing IFP members. Mostly tribal chiefs and office bearers.
      3. The IFP never necklaced anyone. The anc most certainly did.
      4. The IFP never never bombed any shopping centres or pubs, bars and hotels frequented by civilians. The anc did.
      5. The IFP did nothing other than defend themselves.
The anc killed more people than the police, army and IFP combined.

Without him, SA could have been similar to the wars that are happening in Isarel or the country could have became banana Republic like our neighbours Zimbabwe. Mandela is praised by the international community and not minority white people in SA. There was no need for him to go to jail as he was educated n he was married n had children. He could have decided that this is not my fight but he still fought n alerted the international community about apartheid in our country. But Ama 2000 who lacks knowledge still blame him. They only know Julius Malema who enjoys the fruits of freedom thay the likes of Madiba fought for.

But he isn't the only one, hundreds and possibily thousands of brilliant, loyal revolutionaries have been systematically blacked-out from the memory of future generations of this once troubled land.
