It's worth noting the Nuggets went with a line-up more similar to the playoff line-up, with only 7 guys seeing real minutes, and Aaron Gordon acting as the back up centre. They really took this game very serious.
100%, you love to see it.
I would be surprised if they couldn’t Celtics are a threat
@@rosteampro4909 Oh for sure. But I think it's interesting they didn't treat the Sixers game this serious. Not that they dialed it in, but they didn't go full playoff mode. I think losing to Philly made them come at this one with a vengeance.
@@michaelmcphee2006 yup And Jokic only takes a certain amount of team serious and maybe they only took it a bit serious and have some plans behind the scenes and is waiting for playoffs or maybe they just don’t think 76ers are gonna be matched up against them in the playoffs
@michaelmcphee2006 Sixers ain't on that level yet. they gonna lose unless Embiid sheds his playoffs demons
The Nuggets late game execution is on another level. That’s why for me their the favourites to win the championship
Can’t argue with that, there’s nothing I trust more than Jamal/Jokic at the end of close games.
Exactly and Celtics still continue to be shakey and blowing up leads a lot
@@superrookie-1
In close game, tatum and brown are still unclutches.
That's the sole reason they haven't won a chip.
Sixers just beat them tho 🙃
@@nornor-hg9rmTatum is literally top 25 in efficiency in game tying or lead taking shots since they started tracking that shit in ‘97. Outta all the damn players to ever play in that time frame.
The Nuggets are playing the season chill, waiting for the playoffs, just like last season. The fact that they can turn it on when they want and become unstoppable is so damn impressive.
Exactly. The clowns at Espn are going crazy on how Embiid destroyed Jokic but as you say Denver is on chill mode and Jokic does not care at all.
All focus is staying healthy, give the bench time and experience and waiting for the playoffs.
Yes, but home court advantage is going to be super crucial for us so eventually we’re gonna have to try to squeeze the Wolves and the Thunder (potentially Clippers) out from the top spots.
@@michaelpetrovich5353 Yall are changing narratives like crazy. He lost so that means he wasn't trying? Stop it. Guarantee if the Nuggets won that game yall woulda been on here saying "that's why he didn't deserve MVP" I'm not even an Embiid fan but yall are just making shit up
Having home court was good last year and even more important this year. Let’s hope they aren’t overly “chill”
I understand being really happy about your team beating the Celtics. But thinking the Nuggets “turned it on” when they were a Tatum transition layup away from losing in spite of the Jays both shooting just under 12% from beyond the arc and Jokic and Murray shooting basically 70% from the field combined is a bit crazy to me. Regression to the mean is something that happens over the course of a 7 game series. 70% shooting and 12% shooting WILL regress to the mean.
The disrespect Jamal faces is unreal. One of the best players in the game. This game was tremendous. I sometimes think Denver can really win almost every game, but they try out different game plans in order to see what can be utilized in the Playoffs. As always, a superb video, you describe everything to the finest detail. Hats off to you mate!
I totally agree and appreciate your support!

Boston can't stop Jokic and sending help unlocks his best skill. Now they even seem to have their hands full with Murray
The fake lane violation is the greatest basketball move yet created

The funniest thing to do.
That just shows his intimidation to other players.
And the dumbest refs. How do they not know the rules? Free foul shot, plus possession... not a damn jump ball.
@@shinigamigaming2941 - between the 3 ref's they forgot who the NBA admin told them to give the game to.
Joker and Jamal are highly underrated duo. 2 of the best I have watched when Jamal is healthy
Bro that third quarter defense was just gorgeous 😮💨
Reminded me of the playoffs, only 3 more months!!
I think this game was a perfect example of how the Celtics just live and die by the 3 point shot. Like for JB and JT, they just need to realize when to not shoot the 3 as outside of that, they had a pretty efficient game. Anyways good video!
I agree, they have way too much talent to be playing that style of offense. Whenever they run through KP up top and get some movement they have so many different options to take advantage of.
I’ve been saying that since last years ECF😂 I’m so ready to laugh at them when they lose in the ECF again because of the over reliance on it
It’s honestly 2kish how this offense is
BUT THEY WORKED ON IT THO!
They should’ve hired Nick Nurse. Mazzula’s a G league coach
When you watch Jokic dissect the game of basketball it shows you their are LEVELS to this game and Jokic is FAR ABOVE any one else in the league.
No doubt, one of the best offensive players ever.
try to explain that to 76s fan
@@Djoga100Imagine how dumb you look saying this literally days after Embiid had like 41 and a almost posted a triple double to beat the Nugs.
These are 2 of the best centers to ever plau the game, Embiid being the best iso scoring center the league has ever seen and Jokic respecively is the best facilitor with incredible efficiency at the same time. You know this dude follows the Nuggets closely when he nails the Mr. Nugget moniker!
Love Aaron Gordon!
Boston's over reliant on threes and their poor late game execution shows they are not “far and away” from every other team like the media keeps portraying they are.
I agree I think they are talent wise but still not there execution wise.
As a Celtics fan we MOST DEFINITELY don’t rely on threes as much as last year, it’s still high, but Tatum and Porzingis are solid in the post and if you look at ran plays the Celtics run a good amount of pick and pop with KP, and last year they couldn’t do that with Rob. And Jrue is just a better player overall than Marcus.
The late game execution has to be better, once again it is so far better than last year, but still could be slightly better. The main concern at the end of games is the play, Tatum fadeaway is so obvious.
@@Jackson54321Yeah u definitely watch ball more than 99% of this comment section. I hate the Tatum fadeaway too he’s not consistent with it enough or with his step back three for me to like that shot. Wish he was more aggressive at taking it to the rack.
They’re better than a lot of the eastern teams but I don’t know how much better they are then the 4 5 and 6 seed western teams
that late game violation bait was 200 iq
Never seen it before
Jokic had is 2016 Finals Kevin Love esque moment when he switched onto Jrue and locked him down.
Love that comparison lmao
It was just like that ! His lateral movement is great !
This is some real deal analysis. Good shit my guy
Appreciate it!
As a Heat fan This game gave me flashbacks of game 2 Heat vs Nuggets, when they made Jokic into a scorer than passer. The Nuggets offense in the last mins down or not is scary.
Jokic baiting on that free throw was gold 😂
Murry was cooking, this games reminds me that Denver is still the team to beat.
Facts, just when you think his tough shot making is unsustainable he does it for a 20 game playoff run.
Murray is a good team merchant, plays like ass against bad teams but like a #1 option when it counts.
Nugs had 7 more turnovers and 6 less 3 pt made. Still won the game. Simply tremendous. Clutch game is incomparable
Nuggets is like the older sibling and Celtics is like the younger one. No matter how good the number one team is, the pride of the champions is very difficult to destroy.
Jokic and murray go about 60% during the regular season and when the playoffs or games they need to prove something like this one vs the celtics comes around, they go off for 30 each with ease
Best duo in the game!
FR, like last year everyone was doubting the nuggets defense, then we played the Grizzlies who were on a hot streak and we locked them down
Jamal really the first ever good teams merchant lol, cant do this againt Washington while up 21 in the 3rd
That extra motivation takes him to another level, lives for the moment.
Him and Jokic are playoffs merchants
Jamal is way underrated just like Jokic was. He is one of the top guides.
Usually making Jokić a scorer is a good idea but Jamal was just as deadly and defense was pretty damn good at the end
It’s crazy how “make Jokic a scorer” never actually follows through though. At the end of the game he still finds a way to get 7-10 assists.
@@HoopVenue"make Jokic a scorer" NEVER works cause he is the best scorer in the NBA...just unselfish doesn't statpad against bad teams in regular season...

I'm a little late, but this is an instant subscription for me. You are so good at breaking down individual plays and showing the overall progression of each team's strategy as the game progresses. So good. Also, I am a sucker for anything Nuggets related (even though I am a Raptors fan above all).
That means a lot, thank you!
I think it's great that you bother to show not only made shots, but also missed ones. I think it's important to remind people that a well-executed offense can still end with no points being scored.
100% agree. When breaking down film, process will ALWAYS matter more than results.
Sometimes Ill yell "please go in" after a nice play leading to open shot not because of the score but because that moment will only live on (in highlights) if the shooter scores and disappear forever if it doesn't.
Disciplined teams. These teams make basketball look good. Intelligent team play.
Beautiful breakdown! Always love a video about the nuggets
Glad you enjoyed!
"Completely stupid shot." 13:29 Had me bursting out of serious watching lmfao.
The stuff he does is fake 😭
Jokic should have probably had another 15 FTs, he was fouled on most of his made shots in this video.
Some of them were pretty bad no calls, especially the first fallaway jumper where Brown just runs into him from behind, Idk how the refs miss those.
@@HoopVenueThe way he is reffed, consistently, as opposed to how an Embiid (as the obvious reference) makes it clear it is a matter of policy

@@dylan__dog This is what I don't get. People say it's because Embiid is so dominant inside but we've seen Jokic can be too and that disparity in free throw attempts can't be unintentional. Dude has scars all over his arms yet hardly goes to the line. And if you have a player who makes unbelievable shots wide open or in traffic CONSISTENTLY you're gonna have people fouling him. I find it impossible to believe every team we go against (even teams that are foul-heavy) are so good they can contest him without fouling meanwhile Nuggets get a call every play
This game against the Champions is exactly why I never understood why the media kept acting like Boston was “far and away” from every other team in the league.
Tbh Celtics still figuring things out. They still dont know how to use Jrue on offensive side efficiently. So Celtics can still be better but I don't think there's a higher level of Nuggets basketball than what they played yday.

13:24 okay.. calling that a "completely stupid shot" was funny as hell 😆
Only way to describe it 😂
That lane violation was ridiculous. The only reason that went to a jump is because it's the Celtics at home. There's no way they're going to call Jokic on distracting his own teammate and the Celtics were deep in the paint long before Jokic stepped in. It should have been called immediately. It's a strange, brilliant play but it's really not that complicated. That should not have been a jump ball.
I am sure MPJ really benefited from the Denver culture and the trust in him from the franchise , but also from playing with Gordon... other young players couldve been out the league after the injuries and dissappointing scoring ... but he really found his role for the team and can impact the game even with a bad shooting night

It would be an all-time finals massacre. The Celtics will just choke and Jokic/company will feast on their tears.
I can’t believe joker baited them into a violation at the end 😂
Crazy stuff
22:21 Free Throw Lane Violations - occur when a non-shooter steps into lane or leaves the lane before ball leaves the shooter’s hand.
If an opponent violates and the free throw was unsuccessful, the shooter is awarded a substitute free throw. If the free throw was successful, play continues.
If a teammate violates and the free throw was made, the made free throw is disallowed. If the free throw was unsuccessful, the ball is awarded out of bounds to the opponent.
Thanks!

Nuggets won the game cause their duo was more efficient than Bostons Jays. Blame the Jays and the blame the Nuggets amazing execution. They outclassed us.
Can't disagree with that, Jokic and Murray couldn't miss.
@@HoopVenuethey couldn’t miss and won by 2 because Tatum blew a layup in transition that would’ve put them up by 1. It’s a great win for the Nuggets but let’s not overreact. This game could’ve gone either way. If either one of the Jays had just an average shooting night from deep it’s a 7-10 point win for the Celtics. They were 2/17 combined from deep. Nuggets are doing something different. They've been experimenting with different plays and personnel combinations against easier matchups and it seemed like they underplayed in their last 76ers game on purpose. 🤔 Maybe because beating the 76ers isn't important to them and it risks injuring starters. I think Embiid whispered that into Jok's ear, that he knew Denver wasn't putting up their best during that game, but he'd be ready for the rematch when it counts. The Nuggets are treating their game schedule as if it's an opportunity to practice before the playoffs. On this Celtics game they switched off the experimental mode and approached the matchup like it was the best quality practice available to prepare for the post season. Denver has the number one or two best depths in the league. Reggie and Braun and Jordan rotate off the bench and give every team grief until Jok/Murr return. If they keep experimenting with plays and players, by the post season they'll be like trying to defeat 5 different teams at once.
The nuggets treated this like a playoff game unlike the game against the 76ers
You explain every play like you are on a teaching class, it is easy to understand. I think you’ve got coaching skills ! Great content ! And Jokic sees the game on a different pace, Level, speed… he is like a Master, and it seems that he has the game in his hands all the time. He is such an intelligent player !

It's awesome to see how each team runs their offense and incredible how you break down the defense. When you're just watching the game it looks like they're just coming down the court and passing the ball around until they find the open guy and he takes the shot. It never really looks like they're running a certain play. I always think it's like me playing at the park with my friends. We have no set plays, we just passed the ball around until somebody has a good shot and they shoot it. But it's great to see that each team has certain plays they want to run and it's such a cool thing to see how the other team switches their defense around and tries to stop them. It's definitely a chess match. Sometimes the top chess players in the world you think are going to crush the other team and then in the last minute of the game your opponent shuts you down. Such an awesome game. You also doing an incredible job breaking everything down. Love this channel. Keep doing what you're doing. You should do this professionally
If this is a preview of the NBA finals, I don't see how anybody on the celtics is going to be able to stop Nikola. Zone defense just does not work on him.
People saying Boston barely lost when JT and JB had stinkers and guys missed open shots but fail to acknowledge the number of turnovers Nuggets had and that even Jokic missed some of his easy shots. It goes both ways.
Right they pretend like their stars not showing up for a big game isn't concerning
Jokic shot 14/22. He’s shooting 58.3. Not to mention, his shooting efficiency is down this season. What are you talking about smh.
And how many wide open shots MPJ,KCP and AG missed. DEN beat the Celtics with literally 3 players.
@@TJWest-if3ny AG/KCP combined fo 7 points on 16.6% shooting.
But hes right, Jokic did miss one shot that I can recall that was a typically a gimme. He played really well in any case. The other misses was a .3 second shot he had to get off, and then two 3s. Otherwise he went 14-19.
Nuggets only shot 25% from three, AG didn't make a shot and MPJ, KCP and rest didn't do much scoring but that's when you see what teams are made of. Everyone can win pretty when the ball is popping but winning when shots aren't falling is when you see how teams react to the grimy game that you see in the playoffs.
Everyone wants to be the Pacers but when playoffs come and the Heat are your opponents you better be ready to be punched in the mouth and react when things don't go your way.
Do you have a plan B? C? Can you tighten your defense up even more? Can you make the right plays for yourself or for others?
The Playoffs Heat with their dozen defensive schemes are my litmus test. You do what needs to be done to win.
I'm happy to be alive now and have the chance to see this upcoming clash!

He loves the step back 3 while being bad at it (around 30%. He's actually close to 40% on catch and shoot 3s.)
I never really was a fan of Kobe, and when I saw some of the crazy or dumb shots Tatum takes and I found out he idolizes Kobe, then I realized why I had something against Tatum’s game. He’s talented, and when he gets going, it’s crazy that plays he pulls off, but when he’s bad, he’s really bad and it’s painful to watch him chucking bricks up like Kobe on a bad day 😮💨
Great breakdown. Very thorough! The Nuggets force teams to have an elite three-point night to beat them - with the calculation being that it won't win-out most of the time - alluding to the three-pointers not falling enough, which results in a lower possession scoring ratio. The Celtics didn't have a great shooting night, but the Nuggets didn't either, which turns into a gritty contest between the big-men, but mainly the difference-makers, Jokić and Murray. If the Nuggets bench plays well, the three-pointers HAVE to be dropping like its hot. In a seven-game series, it's not likely the three-pointer will be dropping at 50% or more on average throughout the series; that, to me, is the main strategy of the Nuggets in the playoffs. If you can shoot enough three-pointers AND make them, then you'll beat the Nuggets, but it's not probable - especially in a seven-game series.
Wow nice Mr.Nugget reference didn't know you were tapped in like that

Boston actually made Jokic tried in that game. Im a huge Jokic fan but i swear he makes me mad sometimes. He could EASILY lead the league in scoring and assist if he gave this effort more often
Good that he saves his body for the postseason though!
@@HoopVenue right, him basically coasting is still good enough to be the best player in the league
No matter how good the Celtics are on paper you can never bet on them. Tatum has been on a superteam his entire career but remains ringless because, whenever the stakes are high, he plays like 2004 finals Kobe. The Nuggets are still the best team in the league
I wouldn't go that far, but the style is definitely shaky. If things go right they can beat anyone, but sometimes it feels like they could also lose to anyone.
Imo, he doesn't operate out the post enough, if he gets going from it, he should make the defense honor him, and this should create an opportunity for the other 4.
He's still 25 give him time plz

This might be the best finals matchup-wise we've ever seen. However I believe Malone's coaching and NJ ability to impact literally every single aspect of the game on top of Jamal being a mini Kobe in the playoffs would bag this one.

Curious peak for peak who’s a better offensive player LeBron or current Jokic and why? (I was watching the game vs the Celtics and thinking to myself Jokic has a legit claim to goat offensive status)
Yeah it really all depends on preference. Jokic brings an off-ball/spacing/rebounding value that LeBron couldn't replicate, while Jokic can't run spread P&R or apply downhill pressure like LeBron. If I were starting from scratch and had to build around one I'd pick Bron, but if it's more of a "plug and play" I feel Jokic wins that argument more times than not.

I see why Murray isn’t an all star now, he only decides to show up against top teams. Show me 40 against Killian Hayes and the pistons and I might consider voting for him 🥱
This is a valid point
Why stress himself or his body out for that?
The rule about the FT is that you can't use your hands or arms to get advantage before the shot is being release, but i doesn't really say anything about legs, feet or baiting them and it only applies to opponents mostly. You can't wave your arms, block eye sight, yell, scream
If i was the ref i would just give Gordon another free throw. Why i'm penalizing the player who did nothing wrong and rewarding the players who clearly weren't even looking at the shooting motion or the ball itself?. People are gonna say "But Jokic step in too". Yea...Like every other FT's in the history of the NBA. Players touch the line with their feet all the time, but in this game both Celtics players didn't touch it. They jumped into the paint.
Jokic did nothing wrong. The rule doesn't say anything about it and he didn't use his arms and hands to gain any advantage.
Celtics players both jumped into the paint.
What follow is just call the rule normally and give Gordon another attempt
The jump ball applies went 2 players from opposite team commit a violation, which the refs "justify" by saying "Jokic toe touched the line so he committed a violation too"
Appreciate you going in-depth, interesting stuff!
Those fouls on Porzingis should have also been called the other way. 3 times Jokic got hit in his hands on release and didn't get called. But there were some favorable calls for Nuggets overall so we good
Insane matchup!
Terrific breakdown of the whole game much of which I came to myself. Murray was devestating all game from midrange and the ball movement was non existent when it counted for the Celtics. It looked a lot like last ECF with all the missed threes. When MPJ went for that crucial rebound that might have been a designed play as I understand it.

make Jokic a scorer" NEVER works cause he is the best scorer in the NBA...just unselfish doesn't statpad against bad teams in regular season...
Boston plays 1 on 1 defense usually, Horford locked up Embiid's ass straight up 1 on 1 in game 6 and game 7 cause Embiid got NO back to the basket game, relies on jumpshooting and flopping...
I thought this game was defensive masterclass really. The main takeaway that I think people seem to be ignoring, is that Jokic and Jamal had to be offensive nightmares(which they are) and the Jays had to be terrible in order for them to win by 2. If we're going to talk about the Jays shot selection(which was fine. They missed some very wide open shots) you need to talk about if the same result would happen if Jokic and Jamal had the Jays performance against a team like the Celtics.
I agree with that for sure, Celtics got a squad.
Jokic and Murray had a great game Tatum and Brown did not yet the game came down to the wire. that’s all that needs to be said about the next time these two teams meet
We’ll see!
honestly watching this video made me realize the celtics got some crazy stupid calls
Beautiful analysis. Jokic passing and player manipulation is next level. Shout out to nuggets player #8 who shed a defender with a fake pass in jokic like fashion (5:39). Why is tatum not putting his head down and trying to score at the basket more??
Horford is no pushover and Joker just toys with him
amazing analysis...thanks
Thanks for watching!
damn I am happy for porzingis ... he finally found himself on the court , but it is annoying that these big guys get fouls just because somebody is close to them when they shoot :D
I can’t see Celtics winning a chip until Tatum levels up his IQ. I understand he can take, and make, tough shots but easy shots win championships. You gotta be able to hit them for sure, but every shot shouldn’t be tough. He’s 6’9” and ridiculously athletic. No reason to shot a faraway jumper instead of backing down Murray/KCP/anyone other than Gordon.
How the hell can you make hard shots yet miss easy ones? 🤦♂️
Awesome deep dive analysis!
Glad you enjoyed!
