Original song by Annie Lennox, Fran Walsh and Howard Shore
I try to hold my tears but when I hear : You've come to journey's end
...
Thanks to you J.R.R Tolkien and rest in peace !
Could not hold them ... just ... could not
Don't cry, craft!
Joshie Nikko :) Be sure to try my best !
Amen to that. :)
The lord of the Rings: The greatest piece of literature of our time, and the greatest theatrical spectacle of our time!
you must read a song of ice and fire its amazing too
oman25 oh please that garbage about sex, betrayal, incest and murder..dont you dare compare GoT to LotR, LoTR is far superior to that crap..GoT is not real fantasy its pseudo-fantasy porn written by a disturbed fat old creeper.. Tolkien's work is always legend.. Martin's trash..good for starting fires
I am talking about the books not the tv series anyway lots of ppl regard George R.R. Martin as the tolken of our time. Please do judge A song of ice and fire from what you hear from the game of thrones series is so much better. I bet you will change you mind once you read all of them get it a chance:)
To compare the two is silly really. Tolkien is the quintessential example of high fantasy, GRRM is low fantasy. There is a difference, but I would argue GRRM has done for his genre what Tolkien did for his. Both are equally good, and although I prefer Tolkien's works, it's by a thin margin.
oman25 to me game of thrones is lotr with bewbs.
This song is so beautiful, it is not sad, but not happy either. "It's a comforting song for those who leave this world" as it's described. Truly.. beautiful.
"And the ship went out into the High Sea and passed into the West, until at last on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.”
The most bittersweet ending to any series ever.
I'm total agree. But Is it not one reason why we love Lotr?
If you've read the books and the Silmarillion, you'd find it's probably the best thing a living being could hope for: Valinor.
+Dr. Henry Jekyll I'm starting it now
One of the best songs I've ever heard. Taylor Davis played flawlessly wish such emotion, and Peter Hollens made the song go from fantastic to heavenly. Really brilliant work. I loved it!
"And I will not say do not weep, for not all tears are an evil'
You've come so far, Taylor. When I started watching you were playing Final Fantasy songs in your room and now Peter Hollens is featured in your music.
This was the first time I heard a male sing this song. I have to say.. That you guys are AWESOME!
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is the single greatest cinematic achievement...ever! The Return of the King is the greatest closing chapter and the single greatest movie ever put on screen. All other movies lie under it's shadow. There will never be another. And this song proves the greatness that we were all fortunate enough to witness. It's a great time to be alive!!
Before my cousin went to college he gave this soundtrack to my uncle, his father. A few months later my cousin passed away. My uncle pulled out the soundtrack recently and put it on shuffle. This was the song that played
Hailey, I am so sorry to hear about your uncle.
The Jedi and The Pirate off topic... But yr UA-cam name is hilarious
I feel really emotional now.
Scram evil queen Regina!
Do u guys see Once Upon a Time?
no (^^)
(ps: that means yes)
+Beatifullytragic6 Me too - emotional song. By the way, hello, Sherlockian ! Nice promo trailers of series 4.
I already loved the version Peter Hollens did by himself, but there's something about the violin that adds so much to it.
This is utterly beautiful.
This deserves more views.
Ending of Lord of the Rings trilogy! Amazing! Thanks for your beautiful job with music.
Since I'm subbed to both Peter and you, it was a pleasure to listen to this song twice in a row.
I gotta admit that I've never heard this before...but it was still amazing. Great job. Very beautiful.
Have you never seen Return of the King?...
Is THAT what this is from? :O I had no idea. Well, I suppose I have heard it then. I just didn't recognize it.
lugialover09 it's at the end credits :)
not just end movie just in middle of battle of minas tirith when gandalf speaks to pippin its in instramental tho
It's a beautiful song, look up the original version it's amazing...
How am I just now finding this?! I seriously watched Return of the King today. So heartfelt and magical. Wonderful work.
Two of my favorite musicians in one song. . . Why has this not happened before?
Oh man, collab between my 2 favourite UA-cam music people? Yes please. This was awesome.
Ah the feels.
Haven't always been the greatest fan of Peter, but goddamn that harmony between his lower voice and higher voice and then the violin on top of that made this freaking amazing! Bravo!
guppo26 that harmony is the reason why I dislike. His higher voice alone and the violin and it would have been much better. It has a weird reverb, like his voice doesn't know what sound it's meant to be so is doing both at the same time.
Guys, this year marks 20 years anniversary of "Return of the King" - and now I feel old, since then I was 20 years old. And I again listen to this beautiful cover - so, poetic and bitter-sweet illustration for "Lord of the Rings" finale. Listen this while reading last chapter of Tolkien's novel and tell me that you didn't shed a tear...
The beauty of this song always gets me to tears...the added fact that it's Peter and Taylor is amazing...keep up the music you two
I'm subscribed to both you and Peter Hollens... but I don't mind watching this beautiful collaboration twice!
This is seriously soooo beautiful!! The singing. The violin. Everything!
I feel happy, and feel calm. This song reminds me of Lord Of The Ring.
This would definitely be the best song to hear in your last moments before you die... Quite a beautiful sadness indeed.
One of my all time favorite songs. Didn't think anyone could equal Annie Lennox's version. So glad I came across this... Thank you..
The original always brought tears to my eyes because of all of the emotion, this does the same!
This is by far one of my favorite songs covered by Taylor Davis. It truly is phenomenal.
Beautiful, just beautiful. Peter's music always lifts me up and makes me smile. Please keep it up Peter you're truly a talented and gifted musician.
I tear up every time I hear this song. Such an amazing song
It can't be helped. This song is just too brilliant, and Taylor and Peter both perform it beautifully.
Oh my god this song is so beautiful I cried
I cryed so much this song is really nice to listen to
Taylor and Peter: The amazing duo! :D
Love their works!
Jesus! Wherever a great violinist is, there's Peter Hollens!
damit I tried not to cry but I let tears fall for those who came before me and dear friends I have lost but not forgotten.we will meet again when my ship reaches the shore.amazing sing and violin.thank you :)

This was bone chilling to listen to and it still is every time I listen to it in RotK. Great job!
I love it! You guys are simply showing to the world what art is made for!
Beautiful. Your violin gave this song that something special that it needed. A perfect combination of voice and instrument, well done!
Nailed it Peter Hollens!
plz dont cry
Great colab. Two talents in the same video is just great.
Love this cover and i totally was singing it the entire time without thinkning about it. This song has such a good kick to it
Le mélange de la de la voix grave et le violon est tous simplement magnifique, cette interprétation ma touchée J' adore ce que vous faites !
This is one of my favorite songs. A few years ago I learned it on the piano. You made my night listening to this. End Credits of LOTR OP
I want this one played at my funeral. Loved yours and Peter's version!
I commented on Peter's channel, but I'll say again that y'all did great on this, and that I love when you and Peter collaborate!
I just want to say that I have listened to this cover, I don't know, hundreds (?) of times. It's on a playlist I have on while I work (I've had this playlist since 2013, and add to it, prune, etc from time to time). And it is every bit as epic in 2021 as it was in 2014.
Well done, Peter!
I am at a loss for words. "Beautiful" does not even begin to describe this.
Another great collaboration. Congratulations to the both of you.
Simply amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with the world.
Sounds wonderful! Great blend and beautiful violin arrangement. This is one of my favorite songs and I like this version better than any other. Thank you!!

I must remember this. Totally and completely remember this!
You have once again done it perfectly! And oh, congratulations with the wedding Mrs. Taylor :-)
This song, this duo, this moment. its just too good. :) You guys did Fantastic!!
One of the most beautiful things I've heard for a long time. Didn't know Peter yet, but instantly subscribed to him, too! Be aware of that you are a very gifted, talented and authentic and also virtuosic musician! Your music means a lot to many people!
Two of my favorite artists working together on a song! Great job

One of the most beautiful song i've heard, that is music
This was the piece I cried to when my Dad passed.
Always amazing!
This makes me want to cry! It’s perfect!!!
Your the most amazing violist I've ever seen! Keep it prime!
The video (filming, editing) is gorgeous! I love this song, great cover :))
Unbelievably beautiful.
Yes!
I have been wanting you to do this song for months now!
A+++++++ You are amazing dear...congratulations, this is one of my favorites songs...
Wow, awesome job from both of you. I honestly never liked this song all this much, but between Peter's voice and your strings, this rendition is irresistible.
So beautiful!!
I can't even!!! AMAZEBALLS... I love it
YES! YES!! ALL OF MY YES!!!
That was pretty good filming and editing. The song was very good. It's like a peace type harmony song and I like it. Please do a live concert in San Deigo because I would really want to go to see to preform live. Thank you
All of your LOTR songs make me want to cry, which the original music did too but not as much as yours
Wow...this is amazing!
Utterly beautiful.
Amazing!!! And love how u did that song! Good choice in singer too!
I just watched Return of the King again today and during the end credits I could only think of this version. It's honestly just outstanding
My favorite video from you yet, Taylor!!!
Is it wrong that every time I watch Lord of the Rings I end it right after the coronation and pretend that's it? I love it but I just can't watch Gandalf and bilbo and Frodo....leave. Dammit now I'm crying.
It's incredibly sad, but Valinor is a world of beauty and happiness beyond imagination. I can't imagine what it would have been like for Frodo and Bilbo to stand before the Valar and see their reactions.
I rarely watch the entire final film for that same reason. Even though I know it's coming I still cry. Every freaking time.
Juliet Carter I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil
I watch it, but bawl my eyes out every time.
Juliet Carter Don't read the book, it actually gets a little sadder. But not to worry, when you leave on those boats, you don't die. Wherever they wind up, they're just fine.
You two FINALLY did a collaborative piece :D
In a word: Beautiful.
Nice rendition. Always love listening to your violin Taylor.
Well I must say this video was a surprise that made my night! My favorite UA-cam violinist, one of my favorite movies of all time... Simply spectacular. I'd love to hear what this sounds like with just the violin, though!
