To solve the parking issues, park at a GO/subway stop on the outskirts of the city, and take the subway into downtown. Most of the GO stations have free or very cheap all-day parking, plus you avoid traffic and parking downtown. The Ferry station is just a short ways away from Union Station. Looking forward to taking my little boy here in the spring or summer!
If youre going to centreville dont just visit the amusement park. There is a farm/petting zoo at the far end of the amusement park. Multiple beaches, a few restaurants, bike and canoe/kayak rentals, as well as lots of green space to picnic and hang out. The park may be small but you can spend hours on the island. The sunsets are a plus too
I really enjoyed Centreville and the Toronto Islands. If you're already doing touristy stuff in Toronto, then it's definitely worth a visit. We did CN Tower in the morning and then walked to the ferry terminal. If anything, the journey to Centre Island is worth it for the stunning view of the Toronto skyline alone.
This just unlocked a memory for me. I remember going to Military Trail and coming here every now and again as a school field trip or for summer camp trip
Holy cow I went here with my family when we went to Toronto in like 2006! Thanks for the memory flashbacks hahaha!
I had a good time as a kid. Are the bumper cars still around? The scrambler was a highlight, but the bumper cars were the fastest we had ever experienced. With the lack of a wait, we went on it over and over slamming into each other at max speed.
We spent a lot of time walking the trails and reading all the plaques.
I went to this park a few years back, definitely gives a good vibe in the middle of an island.
I’ve walked past this park many times on trips to Centre Island but haven’t spent any time there, now based on your review I’m going to try to take my kids sometime soon.
This is Canobie Coaster fan Lucas McDonald with a new channel, new name and a much scarier profile picture!
And I say this looks like a lovely little park with lots of charm!
I got stuck in that holiday weekend there's-a-Jays-game traffic and I would suggest maybe even trying to find a day when that isn't happening. Probably won't manage to miss major events at both venues but it definitely made getting home from that musical a bit harder.
When visiting the Toronto Islands with kids, save the money and just take them to the free mini water park and playground. They will love it just as much.
Haven’t been there in decades!! Especially when they had the Zamperla Dragon coaster there
It is a nice little park. City line and lake views are quite nice. 👌
Sunnyside Park was not located on the islands. Rather, it was located on the Lake Ontario shore along Humber Bay. The Gardiner Expressway paved it over.
My heart and soul will always be left at centreville amusement park for the next summer. Fond memories of $10.00 for a book of ride tickets as a child. 55 years as of 2023 ❤️ Have Fun !
Centre Island My Favorite Place And Memories From When I Grew Up In Toronto 👀😍🤠🇨🇦
Loved going there as kid used to go with older siblings on ttc to ferry then ferry over I thought it was so cool I liked it all the sky ride was a fav cause it used to go over the farm animals
In regards to the Ferry ride, you can save time by purchasing tickets online. You can skip, the long lines by going to the prepaid booth.
I find that sometimes you have to "work" for something to get a REWARD. If you ever ate boiled crawfish, the you know what I'm talking about. I told my sister when we visited Walt Disney World to take whatever from the car because we were 2 miles away from it! Parking lot tram to TTC to monorail/ferry. (Remember WHERE you parked!) One of those images you had reminded me of a Claude Monet painting. I would go there If I took a weeks vacation. It is a most charming off the beaten path park. And yeah, I want to visit that ball park Eh!
I went to Toronto on my trip to Canada last month but missed this due to heavy rain and traffic.
When I went on the Ferris wheel this girl that was 13 that went on it too 1 floor up crying up a storm
I visited last summer on a weekend and only managed to get on the Ferris Wheel, Scrambler and a few others. I came for the log flume and roller coaster but both had 30+ minute waits. Not a fun place on weekends i'll tell you that
Do you think you can do fantasy fair next cause fantasy fair is an indoor theme park at Woodbine mall
@@CanobieCoaster that's ok I like fantasy fair cause it's like a miniature version of Canada's Wonderland at Woodbine mall
I would've thought the journey to the park would've been the best part of visiting (and it probably would be if it wasn't for the parking issues).
The ferry itself was fine (just added time). The driving part was awful.
How long was the wait for the rides roughly? Or on average?
I visited on a summer weekday. The longest line was 15ish min for the coaster. Other rides were under 5 minutes.
It does look like a very charming park that I could appreciate. However, I can't see going through all that trouble to get there.
I perked up when you mentioned Carmel IN. I have great memories there, going to 2 concerts at the Palladium. The first was a great one in 2014, which was followed by my first visit to Cedar Point. The next night, I got to see the Indians beat the Red Sox (sorry) with a walk off home run at 2am.
I was willing to take the time since I had done all other parks and tourist things in the area minus this one.
@Canobie Coaster
Actually, the most difficult park to visit is Stricker's Grove in Ohio. It's only publicly open 8 days out of the entire year.
In terms of the calendar, yes. But the arrival procedure of parking is easy.
We live outside of Toronto and it's so easy to take the GO train and then the ferry over to Centreville. Half the fun is taking ferry to the island. It's really not that difficult.
This park is very worth it. But not as much. Because it’s only, ONLY available in summer, and it’s a nightmare to leave the island.
Idk if this was intentional but you also called this video Off Ride Footage.
I have had people full on push kids to the ground over seats so I load on at a time
I just wanted to note it does cause it to take longer to load than similar rides at other parks, but that's fair.
So you gotta go through a major city with all the traffic then go out on an island on a boat? Yeah I'd probably just spend 1 day here.
Yes, making a day on the Island is smarter than just popping in for a credit.
"The most difficult park to visit" *laughs in Strickers Grove*
Date-wise that one is a royal pain, but it's easy to physically reach it.
Use public transportation and you can avoid parking and driving downtown, just sayin'
@@CanobieCoaster more urban parks need direct public transportation access because 1. it would help a lot with staffing and 2. there's no reason you should have to drive from your hotel. In an area like Chicago, or Toronto, there's really no good reason you should ever have to visit with a car/drive around in a car if you're visiting the urban area. It'd be way cheaper and offer more time for fun!
And more good tips;
Avoid the TTC transit - it is scummy and the TTC Head Office are slobs who lost control of keeping it safe for many years.
Instead, use GO Transit to go to Union station and then walk or take Uber to the Ferry which is close to Union Station.
The parking options are usually rip-off rates; ideally, go when there are no concerts or sports games going on otherwise parking will have the scam 'special events' hike on the rates. It should be illegal as it's price-gouging.
Don't drive in rush hours - go to the island in the morning and leave by early evening to avoid traffic hassles and over crowded ferry rides.
I don’t care if it takes a bit to load the ride I rather people be safe
I know the operator was following the procedures. It was still slower than other parks so I wanted to note that.
Honestly it isn't as bad if you just take the go train instead
@@CanobieCoaster city, you could also just take a water taxi to the island if you miss the ferry though
1 small correction is that there is an underwater tunnel that connects to the main island which then you can can walk bike or drive from to Centerville
@@CanobieCoaster it takes longer since it's on the western most point on the island so I not worth it u less you live downtown there and just wanna go quickly and not have to buy a ferry ticket
That tunnel is for airport access only. You cannot access the rest of the islands from the tunnel
I’m the roller coaster operator and would appreciate it if you don’t talk bad about how I load people on the I’m just doing my job
I have no issue with the operators of the ride. I just wanted to note how it can take longer than similar coasters, but it makes sense if there is a safety reason behind it.
He didn't say anything bad, if you listen to his commentary again. In fact he noted you take precautions and gave the reason why, in your support and favour. No need to act defensive I'm just saying.
So know all the facts before you talk
@@CanobieCoaster If he has rechecked your commentary he realized he was too rash in criticizing you for something you never said.
Lol thats why we always take transit. Don't worry Doug Fraud will try to sell that too. Centre island is beautiful always went there as child and when my kids were young. Of course thats before things got sp bad in toronto.
“First you must find a parking spot in downtown Toronto”. That sentence right there is all the evidence people should need that this place is a pain to get to! 😂. Nice video as always.
Thanks!
U can always take ttc there
Park at Yorkdale and take the subway
