    What i appreciate the most is that you didnt try to hide the imperfections in the room as so many other interior influencers do! The paint on the window, the scuff on the wall, the scratches on the back door. Thats real life! We all have them, we need more of that in these types of content! ❤❤❤

    Silicone sealant isn’t meant to painted and paint doesn’t last on it as you have found. If you add a wooden beading it will still need sealant especially behind the sink. I think the answer is to paint the panelling or beading first, all the way down to the worktop then neatly seal with a fine line of clear silicone sealant . You can also get sealant in a range of colours.
    The other option if you don’t need a waterproof seal is decorators caulk which can be painted.

    Hi Ash - really like the styling. I'm a home painter from way back - not sure if you can paint PVC - you'd need to get expert advice. Personally I prefer the white windows/door in that space - I think it might close it in too much in a darker colour. Also - you were talking about building an oven hood/mantle. Check out AskCharlie - she did a kitchen reno youtube clip last week. She has an old Georgian farmhouse and just replaced the kitchen. She had it put in by a carpenter who built an over Aga mantle with side shelves, May not be your exact taste but still good to see. Agree a good Roman Blind will be perfect for the window. I quite like the non-symmetrical 2 ferns and a Trug (sound like a techno band 😂). Have a good week.

    As a professional designer /project manager , we do all our skirtings, doors , wardrobes and cornices , in a semi gloss finish for this exact reason Ash... washability. Dust is also a lot easier to brush away from a semi gloss finish. Matte finishes however , are better when it comes to touchups so we do most walls and ceilings in matte finishes for that reason.

    Try hairspray on the window frame. Spray and rub with a soft cloth. Test an inconspicuous area first. Roman blinds in the window and on the door would look very stylish. French Ticking with a natural background, with a deep red stripe. Laura Ashley's Mr Jones fabric in navy and burgundy would also work well and both would pair well with the lampshade and the blue and white plate on the wall.

  • @kimmann-tg8gx
    @kimmann-tg8gx 12 днів тому +1

    Ash, I agree with the gentleman that suggested two buffet lamps. I have a pair in my kitchen, and not only does it provide additional work light, but when the other lights are off, the kitchen glows. Perhaps one in each corner of the window ledge, in brass with a cream-colored shade in a linen vinyl that is easy to clean. If you're seriously considering painting the window and door, the mahogany is too dark, either leave them white or paint them the same color as the wall and ceiling. Final bit. The kitchen is a beautiful mix of deep reds and wood, I think the addition of more metal; brass and/or copper would be a great way to bring some reflectivity especially when you begin the hearth project around the cooktop.

    Draping some gorgeous fabric above the window and door using curtain tie back posts might be a cheaper interim solution and won t block what limited light you have in the kitchen. Change up the fabric whenever you feel like it. Loving the styling; you are a natural.

    I really love the way you styled the kitchen, including the window. I also like the lamp and personally think something smaller might get swallowed up by everything else. The contrast of the lighter trim color is a great choice for my eye. Gosh, there are so many choices of white on the color charts that it's almost overwhelming. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

    So warm and inviting I love your decor I would hire you as my interior designer. Best way to paint that caulking at the counter would be with a very delicate artists brush. Maybe try a clear water proof caulk at the counter in the future. I was going to say curtains at your window would help bring in some pattern can't wait to see what you purchase. I think your door and window in a dark wood tone would be very lovely.

    Hi Ash. Top tip if ever removing silicone. Screwfix sell a silicone remover gel which you just brush on using the brush in the lid. They also have a silicone removal tool. Honestly both together gave great results and saved so much time. I was a bit sceptical at first but really worth a go. Also if you have any of those magic sponges that should easily remove paint from window frame. Love the kitchen colour and styling.

I adore your kitchen and if your window frame had been wood, I would have said go for it, but just because of selling purposes I personally wouldn’t paint yours. However, I do think the door would look classy painted the same as your kitchen though. A wood pelmet the same colour as your kitchen might look nice. I’m sure whatever you decide on will look beautiful as always.

    Hello Ash as you are considering a move I would leave the window and your new door white to reflect the light. Remove the red paint on your windows with a Q tip and acetone obviously nail varnish remover, dip the Q tip in water first then the acetone and go gently to get rid of the paint. I moved to London when I was 17 my first mortgage bought me a repo home in Islington that was a huge renovation I then moved to Greenwich I was very happy there for many years and finally moved to a house in the countryside just before Covid. I hope you consider a Greenwich move it’s a fantastic place to live.

    Ooh, that looks lovely. I did comment a few weeks ago, and you replied, which is so nice. I liked that you didn't take it oersonally as I was coming from a good place. I have painted my PVC windows and they look fabulous. B&Q have a prenium paint range called Valspar and you can request any colour and they will make it. Cream windows would look great like Costwold cream. One you start you will want to do the whole lot, even the outside.

    Personally I wouldn't paint the window, not sure how well uvpvc paints but the white works with the door even if you replace with a different style door. If you find it difficult to decide on a fabric for a blind why not just have a pelmet to soften the window frame or you could try shutters but not sure the space is big enough. Good to learn about the right panelling for the right room👍

The same colour as your lamp base.

    When I was a little girl I always wanted a split door with a ledge that you could opt to only open the top. In old movies the cook would cool her pies on the ledge and the dog would eat them. Since the window opens inward do you have to use a brass rod on each window panel? I would hate lifting the fabric to open. When I saw the egg holder American me said how cute and at Easter you can add marble or painted eggs forgetting you don’t refrigerate them in Europe. Love the color and like one comment if you are selling don’t paint the window.

    Love the kitchen ,, have you considered a wider moulding around the door frame and maybe different hardware ,, thanks for sharing your lovely home and ideas ,,

    In my opinion, I think you should consider lightening up the paint colour in the rooms, there is too much dark paint for such low levels of natural light and if you are planning on selling buyers will expect more light. I appreciate you are going for a cosy vibe, but it doesn't translate very well on camera. I would also consider widening that back door to french doors, that again will let in more natural light and connect the kitchen to your beautiful garden, which currently you cannot really see.

    I’m not sure whether painting plastic is an option.
    I would paint the back door to match the kitchen colour . Your styling is always on point so I’m sure whatever you do will be beautiful x❤

    Pvc is actually painted, and after so many years, 8:38 you do need to get them resprayed. I would go with a pvc window company to paint them.

      White pvc windows are made of solid white moulded/extruded white pvc over a metal framework. The pvc layer is white all the way through.

    Personally, I think making the door, what seems to be a deep navy blue, like on the hanging plate, would be nice.

    Hi Ash loving your blog this morning. Just wondered whether you & Chad have considered sash windows for the kitchen

    • @ashmazzina
      @ashmazzina  13 днів тому

      We had but in all honesty either we or the next people who own this home will extend the kitchen so a waste of money really!

    Fabulous styling Ash and thanks for the tip re waterproof mdf tongue andd groove for kitchen, we are abvout to do that in ours. Love the idea of a darker tone on window and door but not sure about roman blind as will block a lot of light, obvs you would prefer something for privacy. Also the hellebores aren't happy indoors, nothing to do with watering. I'm starting to sound like a nagging mother!!

    Ash, I cant believe you paid £300 for that lamp. Shop vintage! 🥰I have multiple large lamps all purchased for less than £50 including having a couple rewired. I love the fact they are individual. I love your channel.
