This is a beautiful and powerful song. Deep in scripture and clear message at the same time. Thank you for composing it and for the people that also translated to Spanish. God bless you.
Saw this exact same performance live, took a song writers class, and got to meet and visit Keith in person at the 2010 National Worship Leader Conference at the Church of the Ressurection in Leawood, Kansas. The whole experience was inspirational and I truly love this song! God bless. - D.J.MarkyMark
I just love this arrangement. Thank you so much. May this video encourage and bring souls to the Kingdom of God. The instruments are awesome, makes you want to sing and shout for God.
The point is to worship God not glorify the musicians, but the lead vocalist and other vocalists and instrumentalists have inspired and led people in worship, and made a wonderful unique sound with a great song which they wrote....and which I will remember... Thank You!
Ya'll are such a blessing! I hope your coming to visit us again this Christmas at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson....May God be with ya'll & your families! xxx
By faith we see the hand of God In the light of creation's grand design In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness Who walk by faith and not by sight By faith our fathers roamed the earth With the power of His promise in their hearts Of a holy city built by God's own hand A place where peace and justice reign We will stand as children of the promise We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward Till the race is finished and the work is done We'll walk by faith and not by sight By faith the prophets saw a day When the longed-for Messiah would appear With the power to break the chains of sin and death And rise triumphant from the grave By faith the church was called to go In the power of the Spirit to the lost To deliver captives and to preach good news In every corner of the earth We will stand as children of the promise We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward Till the race is finished and the work is done We'll walk by faith and not by sight By faith this mountain shall be moved And the power of the gospel shall prevail For we know in Christ all things are possible For all who call upon His name We will stand as children of the promise We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward Till the race is finished and the work is done We'll walk by faith and not by sight
For example the uilleann pipes, like other bagpipes, have no embouchure, and all expressive devices such as notebending, vibrato, etc have to be done by the fingers alone. You can't lip a note into tune, so it's all about preparation, having the chanter set up to play in tune at the exact temperature at which you will be performing. Colder= flatter, warmer= sharper, and you can't fix it while you're playing.
Elizabeth, the uilleann pipes like all bagpipes are woodwind instruments, and the uilleann pipes are just as traditional as any other type. Anyhow if you're asking if the uilleann pipes played like a saxophone, no, but like all other woodwinds there are similarities. The fingerings, finger and hand positions, techniques, air control, etc etc are all completely different on the uilleann pipes from any other sort of bagpipes and also from sax, clarinet, flute, etc.
Question....aren't bagpipes played as a wind instrument? How do these differ from traditional bagpipes? It's a beautiful sound. Love that Celtic feel of their music.
These are Irish bagpipes . . . the uillean, or elbow, pipes. The bag is pumped like a bellows, causing the wind to flow through the reeds as with the Scottish Highland pipes : ). Yes, great feel!
Amazing!! I heard you at New Horizon in Coleraine, Northern Ireland! and have loved your music ever since! I have your two CDs and play them non-stop! this song and Come people of the risen King are my favourites!! your music is so good!! thanks! :) Fiona M
Well I kind of feel like christian rock music is like a gold ring in a pigs snout. christian music has lots of quality, but my opinion is that rock music doesn't, and so putting them together is kind of wasteful. But it is neat they incorporate everything into it, as not many songs do.
Jimmy Johnson I know you wrote this many months ago and I tend to agree in part. I am a traditional music person. Our choir has sung this song to an organ and orchestra - it's amazing. But I also know there are those who would not listen to this unless the guitars and drums were there. Whatever method God uses to get his message out is all right with me - I can still have my preferences and think that maybe your analogy is a little harsh.
+Jimmy Johnson The contrast between that rich soulful uilleann pipe intro (&backing throughout) and the standard rock'n'roll...I'd prefer it if they shifted to the former more
I say drop the piano and electric guitar and throw in acoustic guitar, hurdy gurdy, and have the microphones actually catch the violin. Rock'n'roll? Drop the drum set and throw in some traditional drums, a tambourine, and maybe a jews harp. Bam! Real folk music!
I would give anything to hear this live with the pipes, the sound of Uilleann pipes is not something you can duplicate on a video or through audio you have to experiance it. in this video they sound pretty but that sound is just cannot be matched even with todays technology they do a good job but that instrument is well I cant find a word to describe it when you experiance and listen live.
what is that instrument the man is playing at the first of the video? it sounds similar to the start of the Braveheart movie.... very chilling :) love it :)

I like the old hymns in general, but am thankful for the excellent God honoring music of the Gettys, Kristyn Getty's singing is a blessing.

I heard about you for the first time yesterday and i had no choice but to come and look for your songs
By faith we see the hand of God
In the light of creation's grand design
In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness
Who walk by faith and not by sight
By faith our fathers roamed the earth
With the power of His promise in their hearts
Of a holy city built by God's own hand
A place where peace and justice reign
We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward
Till the race is finished and the work is done
We'll walk by faith and not by sight
By faith the prophets saw a day
When the longed-for Messiah would appear
With the power to break the chains of sin and death
And rise triumphant from the grave
By faith the church was called to go
In the power of the Spirit to the lost
To deliver captives and to preach good news
In every corner of the earth
We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward
Till the race is finished and the work is done
We'll walk by faith and not by sight
By faith this mountain shall be moved
And the power of the gospel shall prevail
For we know in Christ all things are possible
For all who call upon His name
We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward
Till the race is finished and the work is done
We'll walk by faith and not by sight
The Galkin Evangelistic Team also does a really good version of this song.
