As a music lover on the wrong side of 30... i'm finding it harder and harder to get excited by new bands/artists, but this guy gets me excited in a way that takes me back to being a teenager again. It's great to see that in 2019 there's still room for great honest indie/rock/guitar music.
There’s so much out there. I’m not sure what you see in this guy, he’s just Bruce Springsteen but English. He’s not doing anything new. He’s good yes but evoking a nostalgic feeling isn’t the goal of new artists. You aren’t going to find that anywhere unless you are listening to bands who are purposely evoking older music - The 1975, M83 throwback to 80s pop, and Sam Fender, heartland rock.
@@musicalman1995 Hey! I appreciate your comment, but ultimately music is a subjective experience and i'm just giving how i felt listening to Sam Fender for the first time. I never said that there wasn't any new music out there in the current day, just that i'm not particularly excited by what is out there right now. That may be because music has moved on from what got me excited as a teenager, which is ultimately what i still love now, guitars at the forefront and honest songwriting. But everyone has a different relationship with music, and i'm glad that's the case since it's that subjectivity that makes it so interesting!
@@ronaldcox3369 So true. Bang on in fact. Have been following him for ages and..to compare him to Springsteen is just lazy. He's so much more than that. No music is ever truly new because everyone is influenced. Hope the media machine doesn't swallow him up and spit him out and that good people are looking after him.
Every person who likes music should have experienced Sam live. That sweeps you away - this amazing voice, the authenticity, these incredibly good songs.
Every so often an artist arrives and tries to recover the dying scene of real music. I'm glad this time it is Sam Fenders. Thanks mate. Few of us still believe in real music, we may not be big in numbers but we are here.
Tinker Tailor I get what you mean I definitely prefer ‘real music’ to some stuff out nowadays but all music is ‘real’ and all music is subjectively, in its own right, good or bad. So can’t really just say that as music is different now to 30 yrs ago or whatever it isn’t as good or that it isn’t ‘real’
"Real music" god I fucking hate that mindset. There's always been good and bad music throughout the generations all the way back to the damn stone age and today is no different. Although, similarly to yourself I do prefer older music generally however I can also admire new music, just remember it's all about taste.

Never been so in love with a song, the borders is fucking sensational. Real music, not bad for a young man from North Shields. Borders is a song about a bloke that lives in the Scottish Borders in a village called yetholm. Sam fender is gonna take over. His band are fucking phenomenal and they have so much fun performing. Amazing
This boy is going to be worldwide super star seen some off the biggest bands work there way to the top over the years this kid is the best I’ve seen since springsteen good luck hard work pays off
Big Geordie boots to fill, Lindisfarne, Sting, Animals, Brian, Maxie and Mitch, Tom Mitchell and many more, but young SAM and the band just might be the cream of the crop, not surprised its a Shields lad that could give rock the kick in the pants. NE 29 FOREVER.
Listening to Sam playing live in Gosforth Park outside Newcastle upon Tyne from our home as I type this. We live about 1:5 miles from the gig - sounds good and loud! very clear, like a radio in the garden next door!
The kid dont miss a friggin note, been listening for a couple of months or so now and love the album. Think Sam may be the saviour of music even for someone who's probably considered over the hill (me that is !!)
that crowd is pathetic......i heard there was trouble getting in..but this performace is epic...could of played to 50,000 easy. deserves more people looking back at him
He was the opening act and the queues meant folk didn't get into see him, plus he wasn't anywhere near as well known then as he is now. In comparison he's third on this years bill behind courteeners and Ian Brown, as opposed to being the bottom of the main stage bill for what was arguably TRNSMT's weakest line up.

Aw when his face lights up after he realises the whole crowd are belting Hypersonic Missiles back at him
If by 'whole crowd' you mean 50 people at the front, then yeah.

Fucking awesome. He's saying things that matter and sounds amazing while doing it. You can't ask for more in music

Future headliner if ever there was one
Hopefully he'll be better for GB20 as he was I'll this year.
He's got that Brandon Flowers/Springsteen energy, definitely a future headliner
Haha you were right he is headlining this year
Sadly not 😢
U called it x
Deserves the hype, hugely talented, very humble, has blown to pieces a dull & mundane music scene. Biggest breakthrough act since The Arctics!
my two favourite artists haha
Totally agree. I'm 37. I'm a musician. He is a massive talent and very exciting. Saw him in Brixton and I was stunned.
I'd put catfish in there too
He’s gotta be humble not many people make it from the north east
The Borders is just so good. Can’t stop listening to it.
Can't agree more, truly blown away.
The sax is absolute class
Same. It's now the only song I know
The Borders is fucking brilliant!
Chris S , My fav song in quite a while.

Manon van der Linden a bunch of Sam’s songs are about sex and bullshit, he literally has a song named after weed lmao

All his songs are brilliant, but play god is absolutely stunning.
Was there on Saturday TRNSMT 23.. What a journey,, what a band... What a story.. Just love this so much..
First time seeing Sam here back in 2019. Seen him again at TRNSMT last weekend and it’s crazy how much better he has become since this gig.
I'm 70, female and really enjoying this! Sam Fender is on my music list!
He is brilliant
Great performance. Songs with guitar solos and saxophone. Lyrics like novels.
Like the best of the 80s. Sam Fender je keva !!!

Hard to believe he was on FIRST. Had to sprint to get there and boy it was worth it! Class.
Shame he deserves a much bigger crowd and a longer set. Organisers messed up there

Same he is soooo good
I heard hypersonic missiles on the radio and I’ve listened to him every day since then
That's sax in hypersonic missiles 😍damnn

Hope he makes it to a kinda Springsteen level.. Won't be easy.. Best of luck Sam fender rocking roller.. 👍 Dublin fan here..
Good midnight lockdown viewing. The good old days ha 🙌🏻🙋🏻♂️🙌🏻🏴
He is something else.
How tf does he sound exactly like in his albums?! Sam you freaking great singer you. Hope he gets recognized even more!
Nothing from the last 10 years has really interested me but this guy is I incredible!!
My nephew put him on the car one day. Hooked ever since. He's incredible ❤
The keyboard player is having some fun
he gets so into it and i love it
I'm so happy that The Borders is on the album. That song is a belter. Fave track!
The Borders is so strong. Didn't appreciate that he could riff like that either
Absolute genius the borders.
Love that tune to death, but didn't like it here. In my opinion they're going a bit too fast here, and the acoustic guitar is way too loud.
Still strong 2 years later 👍🏼😂
Man hes underrated. Check his backstage videos out you'll see how good he is 🙏🏼
