    The only thing missing was a comparison with going with ethernet. Perhaps the cost of each adapter plus a spool of ethernet and connectors. It is definitely WAY cheaper, but easier to sell it to a board if we can show numbers. I think a 500ft spool of Cat6 can be had for like $50-$60, a bunch of connectors can be had for $20, and then each set of adapters is is like $25. So $210 using ethernet vs. $420 for straight RS232. Same result... Plus those Cat6 cables can be used for tons of other things, RS232 really can't.
    Oops, I ended up doing the math.

    Great Video AJ! I never thought about using CAT6 and getting a RJ45 adapter for our cameras. We have 2 PTZ cameras and we are looking to get them further away from the booth. The CAT6 costs are way less than a 100' HDMI. Another UA-camr with a church ministry talked about a SMTAV 30X optical that is the same thing as a PTZ for almost half the cost. Have you run into or used the SMTAV?

    • @AJaytheCEO

      Yes I have. The SMTAV PTZ is what I have paired with our PTZOptics at my home church.

    Hi, I like to connect my PTZOPTICS cameras (3 total) to my PTZOptics joystick controller for shows with no network or internet. Can I use your rs232 setup to have my cameras work with the controller with no network?

      Thanks. You’re the best. One quick question, is there a device out there that instead of me rs232 daisy chaining from one camera to the next, is there a non network way to bring all the cameras cable run to a central device and then connect that device to the joystick controller? Thanks again.

    Hi AJ, thanks for all of your videos. do you know of a way for the viewers to be able to control the camera from, let's say a custom webpage, remotely. Could there be a que where a person was given a certain amount of time to have control of the camera, for example. Thank you and have a great day.

      You could maybe place the camera on the dmv and embed controls to a webpage but I am not sure about the queue control

    Just curious, is there any noticeable lag or delay between controlling the cameras over IP vs RS232c or RS422/485? I would assume IP control would be delayed more than direct serial connection, but that maybe thinking old school. Sorry, don't have much experience with PTZ cams.

    Hi. I have a Marshall camera, not an IP CAM, and a Fomako IP address, Cam already with an IP address. I'm using a HuddleCam controller and connected the cameras using your daisy chain (Connected in serial) and am able to move one camera. Each cam has its visca id, either 1 or 2, but only one moves and when trying to move 2 it won't move. Please help. I've been rattling my brain up. Called Fomako, they want me to buy knew cam to replace the marshall and want me to buy fomako controller too $$$... talked to huddlecam support and told me to call fomako. What am I doing wrong, please?

      If all the ids are unique and you are using visca it should work. Make sure on the Fomako you go to the menu via remote and change the settings to parallel under communication menu I believe

    • @michaelperales9522
      @michaelperales9522 Рік тому

      @AJaytheCEO i did look for a "comunication" option to change to serial so it can comunicate on the chain, but none of the cameras offer that choice. Each Cam has its ID #1 and #2.
