As a young fan of the Gladiator, this game should have been in my life. But there was 1 trilogy, that still was dear to my heart: Swords and Sandals (the flash games)

I think one reason it kinda flew under the radar was the very generic sounding "shovelware" title/box, an easy turn-off when retail stores were still the dominant way to buy games. It needed to establish a bit more personality on store shelf imo, but the past is the past.

I already enjoyed your content but your closing thoughts in this video gave me a new appreciation for your videos. Your point about the reception of a game and how it's judged within it's genre is a lot more insightful than a lot of the more recent long form video game analyses in their entirety.
The end portion with how you talk about those type of "weird" and "obscure" games that either end up glowing up or fading into obscurity really hit with me. I'm not sure if you've been suggested it before but: Darkest Dungeon truly feels like one of those type of games that easily could of faded from history given how so unorthodox it is in terms of design, even to the point that it can easily alienate or captivate people. (Source one of my friend's absolutely despises the gameplay while I super enjoy it) but we both can tell a lot of care and effort went into it even if it wouldn't of been successful. I'd personally recommend Darkest Dungeon for the channel as it truly scratches that itch for some being the closest experience to a dnd session that's just gone off the rails (in a good and bad way).
Great video man, my memory of this game was relegated to watching a gameplay snippet of it in a demo disc back then haha. Glad to see it after all this time. I did play through Shadow of Rome tho and loved it
I never saw the halo thumbnail and title like many others in the comments, but I was really glued in this video by this weird strange game. I find it intriguing that the best part of the story is told through gameplay itself. Many games often don't show compelling stories through combat mechanics and such. I just find it funny and a bit interesting that there's little to no tutorials in Colosseum. All in all, it makes me want to pick this game up and try playing for myself.
8:51 makes me insanely happen someone else gets excited about unusual control schemes. I had great joy messing around such unusual controls of MGS3 (original, not the updated TPS version) back in early 2010s.

I was legitimately thinking of playing Halo CE for the first time and trying to get into the fps genre again. It was such a coincidence you decided to cover the game. Don't think I'll be giving the genre a shot today.
I do however wanna check out gladiator games all of the sudden. I'm sure I'll find appreciation for the fps genre somewhere someday lol.
this is a great video on halo, the most herculean effort I've seen covering this game
I have a hunch that tehsnaker will love spikeout, currently available in the infinite wealth arcade cabinets
'Gaia has always been a bit of a terra'
I hadn't watched any playing in a while because I just haven't been in the mood, I'm glad to see the puns are just as bad as they always were
I'd like to think I've gotten better at making them worse
I like how gaming videos with “forgotten” in the title will range from actual forgotten games like this to a 4 year old Cod game
I mean I can't remember what COD came out 4 years ago
I literally never saw a single mention of CoD BlOps 5, so probably that one.
Fantastic video
I love it when you show us funky ps2 era brawlers that I've never heard of, there's something charming about that era of games that I cant get enough of
i was actually planning on skipping the halo video because ive been playing it so long and theres so much already out there. then i come back a week later and find a video about a game ive never heard of with a strange thumbnail and intriguing title sitting in my watch later playlist, that was the fastest ive clicked on a video in a while
It’s always a good day when Snake uploads a new video.
Happy to see another video from you, always a delight when they drop.
hes giving the covenant back their bomb
I loved this and Shadow of Rome as a kid.
I kept passing over this game on my HDD.
I was actually stoked to see this video, you sold me on it and i started yesterday and its so deep.
Im loving it man. Thanks for pushing me to play it!
The prequel Gladiator Begins for psp was fun
Thanks for the heart
46:18 I remember discovering as a kid that if you press R1+X (I think it is) while standing near gear after the round is over, it picks up the gear you want and sends it straight to your item box! :)
everytime i think to myself "i wonder when the next video from Tehsnakerer comes out" it somehow drops within 1-3 days. You seem to have a really good and stable workflow going on. And it was an absolutely fantastic one as always :)
I already enjoyed your content but your closing thoughts in this video gave me a new appreciation for your videos. Your point about the reception of a game and how it's judged within it's genre is a lot more insightful than a lot of the more recent long form video game analyses in their entirety.
Im so happy to see a new video! Thanks for the continuing excellent content, tehsnakerer
I for one love the unpredictable nature of what you tend to cover, nothing you show feels like the other, which gives me joy.
Great video man, my memory of this game was relegated to watching a gameplay snippet of it in a demo disc back then haha. Glad to see it after all this time. I did play through Shadow of Rome tho and loved it
Once again, 2005 was a truly magical time for video gaming.
Thank you for doing this I have been waiting a minute for someone to do a retrospective of this game it's one of my all time favorites.
"This is why you shouldn't learn history people, it can spoil video games" is such a true statement it has ruined so many video games for me.
Domina is still one of the funniest meltdowns I've ever had the privilege of witnessing
8:51 makes me insanely happen someone else gets excited about unusual control schemes.
I had great joy messing around such unusual controls of MGS3 (original, not the updated TPS version) back in early 2010s.
Insanely *happy
I was genuinely surprised by the title, then doubly surprised by how much I want to play this game for myself someday, great stuff as usual!
I just wanted to say your videos are so absurdly high quality and I adore the effort in each one. I hope to one day get to your level.
I might not be remembering this correctly, but when you trigger punishment mode (100 guard survival) you can leave the arena and take the fight Into the halls where It's easier to control the crowd with the tighter spaces.
Yep, you can even head right out to the cart, I couldn't cut it though. Leaves a challenge for the audience at least
Gladius is one of my favorite childhood games! Love hearing the bits of its soundtrack scattered throughout!
god damn it snake that was downright EVIL, you got me
Is always good to see your fav youtube playing a game you love and still play.
Grunts are gladiators too!
Tehsnakerer is my personal roman empire
I hope I'm not my own commodus
