I remember that primary school like in 1989… i might b mistaken, I was a kid but I kind of remember that it use to b called “Jumuia “, and near the school there used to a small market called “Kukasoko “. Those are my memories btwn 1988-1991….

Thanks for filming this. Buyenzi is where I grew up until the age of 9, now 30, and never been there since. I missed it so much and can't even recall any of these places. 😢. Don't they call their streets "bara bara ya kwanza, ya pili, etc

Man, am always moved with your videos. I always make sure that i watch every single one from the beginning to the end. Yes in deed you re doing a great PR of all the time for Burundi and you need to be recognized for it. But take the courage yourself, go to the office of the Mayor (Mairie), i think you will be given the audience and a platform to make your presentation and what you need at the end of the day. I know Burundi is quite a conservative country but give it a try. Big Up bro

Otherwise Burundi is more than just Bujumbura and maybe it was about time I moved on to other cities.
NOT IN BURUNDI, but in another west African country I had my car repaired and it worked for a few weeks. We discovered that the mechanic stole all my hoses and replaced it with styrofoam tubes. What a mess!!!!
You have to know a thing or two about cars before you take to a local mechanic. Hell even big garages can be shady sometimes. 😅
But styrofoam tunes though 😳 you're car could've caught fire. 🤦🏾♂️ that's crazy.

I have been there once and spent a few memorable days,looking forward to get back there again this year when this corona thing subsides. I felt like I was in Kigoma in my home country Tanzania 🇹🇿, Swahili is the lingua franca there,generosity and friendliness of the people is just amazing despite all the odds.

Wonder what is going to happen when more and more cars are computerized. It is bound to happen.
Every car on the street is computerized these already. It just a matter of the degree of "computerization" so to speak. Components that wear the most are mechanical. And local mechanics have no problems dealing with mechanical parts.

I was born in Nyakabiga but grew up in Nyakabiga & Buyenzi on 4th avenue . We let Buja in 1994.
I just saw in this video my primary school which is near that Pentecost church, it used to be called “ADEP” (Ecole primaire de Ntahangwa ) btwn 1986- 1991. I studied with a lot students (pupils) from Buyenzi and Ngagara. I have no clue where they live now but I remember some names ( Lolilo, Baruwani, Aimee blaise (he lived in Jabe), Jean de Dieu … I think the Headmaster was called Adrien… some of the teachers names were Kimbungwe, Monsieur Ciza…..
I wish i could know what they are now, if they still alive…..
We lived on 4th Avenue Buyenzi opposite a GARAGE (they used to called it Kwa Mzee Reginale) … I remember some of kids neighbors: foremani, Bukungula, papi… I remember an old Muslim man called Mzee Rukonga, we used to be afraid of him, bavuga ko aroga, he used to live on 5th avenue Buyenzi. I remember Sheik Selemane, he was Arabic from Tanzania, he also lived on 4th avenue….
I remember , there was an old lady called Mama Nduguda, she used to sell delicious Sambusa at 6 Garage (6 avenue).
There are alot childhood memories, but Buyenzi didn’t change at all, I can remember alot houses and roads through this video after almost 30 years I left Burundi.

If we're talking about house break-ins, robberys, bank heists, getting mugged on the streets, or getting car jacked, etc. It almost never happens.
