9:22 I'm going to say the lizardman probably wouldn't care if they had to fight Cold Ones, they're not a sentient race of creatures like the lizardmen so they're more on the level of dumb animals. Furthermore, Cold Ones are known to be extremely aggressive in the lore, so much that the Dark Elves have to hide their scent to approach them while only lizardmen blessed by one of the Old Ones can tame them. So as far as the lizards are concerned, they're probably just another enemy to die on the battlefield.
In Marcus' legendary battle, doesn't he say "these lizards aren't just mindless beasts, they knew what they were doing when they killed women and children; and today they shall know this is revenge!" ?
@@Nathan-ct9eh Isn't he talking about the lizardMEN, though? Not just the regular lizards?
@@Nathan-ct9eh This is where the 'Alien Logic' comes in.
The Saurus would be considered 'dumb', as they are bred for war and tactics, not thinking.
The Slan or Skinks do most of the thinking, and it would be a slan that dictated this attack on 'women and children'.
So yes, they did know what they were doing but the slan most likely don't consider this an abhorrehant act, as it is the will of the great plan, and the saurus are basically just predators.
A cool race to be sure, but to put human ideas of morality on them is to misunderstand them, as Marcus does.
@@jackmckay8305 Saurus aren't dumb, they're just... How could I phrase it... "Emotionally dry" would be the best way to describe them.
They're intelligent, more than most humans, but as they're bred for war their knowledge and intellect is more "warfare" oriented. Very well-versed in logistics, battlefield tactics, etc... And are perfectly capable of logical thinking though they can go on a rampage in the heat of battle (due to their predator side), but they can learn to control these spans of bloodlust so it's not really that big an issue.
When it comes to lizardmen, the "dumb" ones would be Kroxigors : they're the manual labourers of the lizardmen, complicated thinking isn't part of their strength because it's not something they were meant to do.
But while Saurus are intelligent... They're soldiers. They're tools for the old-ones great plan, and they're perfectly aware and accepting of that. They simply follow orders and do what they must for the sake of their creator's project.
So no, they're not "too dumb to realise what they're doing", they're perfectly aware of what they do, they just don't care too much about it for they fight for a greater purpose.
@@RoulicisThe You're right, sorry I have explained it poorly. Didn't mean that they are dumb, but they do not think as any human would.
Certainly not too dumb to know their actions, but as I said, not really an issue to them. Far better explaination by you :)
11:20 the troglodon fires into the stratosphere... I don't think it ever comes down
Malikith: Come my minions! We shall collect many slave and sacrifices to Khaine! We will reap a bloody- JESUS CHRIST!!!!
*swarmed by ripperdayctles*
Slann: Ho Ho hooo.
hahaha
Santa Slann!
I appreciate and find the matchup funny, but please do not use the Lord's name in vain, I am serious.

Great game; not just troglodons but also some really nice back and forth on a beautiful map.
It is a spectacle, especially with this map. Real nice to look at, and a very fine game. I am going to use this to try to introduce a friend to pvp battles + Turin.
I guess they look at the cold ones the same way you would look at a horse or dog. They are more in the realm of domesticated animals, so you wouldn't call them traitors.
I could see the Saurus warriors trying to collect the enemy cold ones after battle to reeducate them later and then add to their own stables.
Crazy that Troglodons spit so accurately while having no eyes. 8k smellovision.
Aight... turin you're forgiven with this back to back lizard bois gameplay +1
The Lizardmen, the race with 3 Lord Packs and about as many good units from them
Red Crested Skinks, Ripperdactyls, and Dread Saurians are all quite good. Salamanders, Razordons, and Troglodons have some application as well. Coatls and Sacred Kroxigors are pretty useless and the rest of the units are either too niche or just redundant. They were shafted in their DLC but not quite to that level.
@A Midnight Dreary I have a theory that the coutle could help vs a siege lane map, dark elves, empire, kislev or the dynasty guys could be good vs those matches but they are pretty costly
@@christianlangdon3766 The only utilities it really offers are shielding a valuable asset from ranged firepower or baiting your opponent into over-committing. Neither of those utilities justify its price so it almost never sees use outside of meme picks.
@@thepiousskeleton6046 oh yea the price is absurdly high but I can see it being pulled of well at some point. I also forgot skaven as it can defend your approach and than frighten/constantly harass their reinforcements. Again you probably as lizards already favored in that one but it would be a good pick vs the weapon team builds they have that can devastate a more wide build.
@@thepiousskeleton6046 red crested skinks are awful have you seen that melee attack
The accuracy on those Troglodons, from 9:00 to 9:40, is uncanny. Malekith took every single dart to the face, whether he was moving or not. Really impressed with the ranged dps of those things overall.
Cold ones vs cold ones, a great match! The DE player was really fighting an up hill battle after the beginning and he did really well
The dragon charge animation bug at 2:45 is so hilarious here
WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE
WE GOT-wait what the hell are those???
YOU DARE CHALLENGE MEGAMIND??!?
If only I could upvote for every time Malekith got spit on. I know its lore accurate that he is such a powerful character, but seeing the dragon mounted close combat beast with AOE damage/heal get knocked around a bit puts a smile on my face.
Pale Terror is my secret tech. I usually end with 1800-3000 value and that doesn't include primal roar. Beefed up ancient salamander that doesn't die to crows and harpies
For your question about lizardmen's cold ones vs dark elves' cold ones, both mount are the same species but they are not related to lizardmen anymore than stegadons are, they don't share the same level of intelect as a slann, skink or saurus, even kroxigors being notoriously troll level dumb have some level of agency that cold ones simply lack as complete predators.
So lizardmen ride them because they live right next to them and have that symbiotic relation they seem to share with most reptilians in lustria (snakes, stegs, teradons, ...).
Not sure if dark elves poach them in lustrian expeditions, import them, some are bred by noble houses for sure, doesn't seem like they live in the wild in dark elves territory.
Well, they are called 'cold ones' and dark elf territory is pretty cold.. :P
From what I remember reading the Malus Darkblade novels, I'm pretty certain I recall them saying they DO have Cold Ones native to Naggarond... however, from what I understand, they tend to dwell in caves deep below ground; the Dark Elves actually need to steal the eggs & raise them from hatchlings in order to stand any chance of taming them... even _THEN,_ Cold Ones are still known to turn on their riders from time to time!
@@PeteTheGrouch I believe Druchii cold one knights have to essentially make themselves as unappetizing as possible as well by smelling much like that of their mounts
Collosodon hunters are no joke man, very scary.
Excellent match! I had forgotten that the troglodons even existed, so seeing them do so well was awesome!
Always like some lizardmen
Haven't played in a few years, and you continue to make the pvp match reviews amazing. Thanks!
Surely the Coatyl is more of a meme than the solar engine? haha
Love your videos and commentary so much, never stop!
I'd guess that if there was ever going to be a unit rarer to see than Troglodons in multiplayer matches, it might be Razordons - armour-piercing ranged attacks but they always feel so awkward to use, as well as being incredibly squishy health-wise.
Solar engine might have been great here, for the lazer play, double rex's is great though! :D
ngl i didnt even know troglodons could shoot those darts
Troglodons are one thing, but when was the last time we saw a competitive Coatl?
Not sure Coatls have EVER been considered 'competitive', to be perfectly honest...
I feel like I have never seen river trolls used
could be cool to do a tournament, where the players have to use mostly units that aren't picked. Showcase the bottom of the toy box
9:23 do you think when humans are fighting elvan cavalry they look at the horses and go "traitors"?
Yes
4:32, I'm thinking that the blue demon manta rays can be a hard counter to certain lords
The Troglodons lived!
lizardman is a sentient race, coldones are just intelligent animals no more than dogs breed for a purpose, while lizardman are "spawned" ^^
God do I despise scourgerunners.
darkelves 3 different range units combo are pretty strong.
I feel like I also never see Zoats
Skink cohorts seriously underrated.
If I remember correctly, the original dark elf cold ones were stolen from the lizardmen under high elf disguise, driving a wedge between those two factions.... not sure though, it has been a loooong time.
I forgot to add, way back lizardmen had cold one cavalry instead of saurus cavalry...
The saurus would have no problem cutting down cold ones, in some cases different lizardmen factions kill each other when their respective Slann interpret the great plan differently in a while that conflicts with one another. Lizardmen feel nothing
Lizards !!!!!
Malekith, the witch king and doesn't do magic damage. It's worse then that.
It's Malekith the witchking with the most hilariously overpowered magical weapon in the setting, Destroyer, doens't do magic damage.
Destroyer, by the by, destroys magic. Hence the name. If he pokes Ghal Maraz for example it's just gonna be a heavy bit of iron... And you do not want to know what happens if *you* are the one containing magic. Cause very soon you won't. They really did my boy dirty, not as dirty as they did Hellebron but I digress.
When Lizardmen players want to get spicy, they use a DLC unit.
Lizards for ever
Why life slann is banana slann?
Why are those skinks so yellow and green?
Trogdor wasn't playing games
My money's on Trogdor.
I love seeing new units be used. Same old boring meta cheese gives me aids, so it’s nice to see people just going for fun. Other units I’d like to see are the frost wyrm, rogue idol, Wyvern mount, savage orcs, plague monks, mutant rat ogre, brood horror, skull cannon, Slaanesh chariots, tzeentch flamers, rotting leviathan, mournghouls, varghulf, vargheist, zombie dragon mount, flagellants, knights of the blazing sun, Markus wulfhart, gotrek and Felix, Setra on his chariot, etc. just use everything that ain’t meta and we never see. It’s more fun to see variation at this point
Why are cold ones called clever girls?
Jurassic park reference!
Having no artillery vs Lizard men is such a illegal thing to do, specialy when you can change it from anti infantry and anti large
