If you liked Mark Ruffalo in this you might like him in "The Brothers Bloom", as well! It's a fave of mine and definitely has some thematic and tonal overlap.

I really admire your drawings, you have a great sense of beauty! I feel like you pay great attention to the details, the small things, however the proportions could be observed more, like the overall look, the neck and half of a skull that I miss from most of your portraits. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy them :)

hahaha thank you for your perspective! I wanted her neck to be skinny; I think stylization is about molding proportions to suit your storytelling.

it's interesting to hear that you liked the movie, I'd completely written it off after hearing the plot and several reviews, I'm a little intrigued now though 🤔 I love the way you've added the lighting in this drawing, it's beautiful ❤❤

I first heard about this movie from LavenderTowne who wasn't that fond of it, actually.
    **Spoiler, I suppose..
Essentially saying that the movie does deal with the issues mentioned in this one but fails in many ways, including how its portrayal of a female victim falls flat by letting everyone take advantage of her without any real consequences, including the audience for whom she's created to be beautiful despite being a reanimated corpse who knows nothing about the world with having a child's brain but still appearing as an attractive grown person, and without any sign of trauma remaining on her body at any point and still getting her happy ending. Essentially the story trying to be feminist, while accepting the role of a conventional cinema experience without really dealing with the issues and missing the opportunities for character development for the main character, especially if we compare it to the original Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
I haven't seen it, so I wonder how many things it actually got right and what the morals of the story managed to be, based on how many times I heard how much many people liked it

That's a different perspective than mine.
I thought the deliberate infantilization and lack of consequences to the men that used her are accurate for the world we live in. As she began to learn more about herself and her own worldview, men began to despise her and were more violent towards her. I don't even think Max is the good guy; it's true that he didn't want to use Bella, but he wanted her body when she was infantile, still holding to the idea that men want women they can mold and shape. It's like Max was the bare minimum of decent for accepting her when she learned who she was in this world (and had a high body count).
I think her story is one a lot of women have experienced in one way or another; so many girls are groomed or given attention by older men (I had this experience), and as a young person, you don't recognize the abuse but are maybe happy for attention or just are powerless against it. When Bella became independent, she recognized how abusive Duncan was-- but how could she physically rebel against Duncan? It's not easy for women to punish the men that harmed them. The best she could do was to let him know he held no power over her, to which he replied with violence, ultimately leading to her attempted mutilation (glad she escapes omg).
I think the happy ending is from Bella's perspective. It's not like her story changed the world, and it's not like one woman's suffering can fix the issues of control that men have. But she was able to heal and create a peaceful haven for herself in the end. The world is still terrible, but she had her own journey through it and came out knowing what she wanted for herself.
