The “Oracle of Omaha” Warren Buffett is the greatest investor of all time, but do you know which investment deals that took him there? In this video Buffett’s top 25 most important deals ever will be ranked according to what % of his net worth that he was willing to commit in a certain period of time. And I think you might be surprised by some of the entries on this list, even if you’ve heard about Buffett and his investments before. For example: his $36b deal of Apple doesn’t even appear on this list.
Why is this so important to know about for the aspiring investor? Well, behind all the classical teachings and lessons about investing that Warren Buffett has produced over the years, there’s typically a deal (or more than one).
“It’s far better to buy a wonderful company at a fair price, than a fair company at a wonderful price” (See’s Candies)
“Never invest in a business you cannot understand” (Salomon Brothers)
“The stock market is designed to transfer money from the active to the patient” (Capital Cities - ABC)
By knowing about these practical examples, it becomes simpler to understand what they actually mean and how YOU can apply them in your own investing. If you can copy the investment strategies of Buffett then maybe you will also be able to copy his track record …
… or perhaps just 0.1% of his track record, but remember, that would still be ~$80m!

My goal with this channel is to help you make more money and improve your personal finances. How to become a millionaire? There are many ways to get there - investing in the stock market, becoming a stock trader, doing real estate investing, or why not becoming an entrepreneur? But whether you are interested in how to invest in stocks or investing strategies for creating passive income with rental properties - I hope to be able to provide you with a solution (or at least an idea) here. Warren Buffett - the greatest investor of our time - says that you should fill your mind with competing ideas and then see what makes sense to you. This channel is about filling your mind with those ideas. And in the process - upgrading your money-making toolbox.
If Buffet was online he would’ve commented on this video and tell you how great of a job you did.
I appreciate your fine comment Kenny Sanchez! That'll be the day haha!
I wish buffet WAS online. His brain would be fascinating to have some insight on.
If Buffett was online he would say "Imagine if you have a farm..." :D
oh yes, indeed you nailed it all how.
He would have asked if you drink coke.

@Ken & Ella Nope. I do trade them as a hedge against lower stock prices (as I am getting hit by everyone buying BTC instead of SPG for example) but crypto is a GAMBLE where in stocks you can actually be smart and earn based on established and proven methods.
@Mary Stefan But there is no fundamental theory behind crypto investment. Its only speculation which ain't attractive

Agree with Parikalp! This must have taken so much time, and I don’t know of any books or UA-cam video that has such a detailed breakdown of Buffett’s historical holding. A BIG THANK YOU!!!!!

Awesome, thank you Skyler H! I hope to be able to provide you with more value in the near future!
I am thoroughly impressed by the video you created and watched it as if it were an adventure or action movie. Additionally, I am fascinated by Warren Buffet's life and his numerous successful deals in the stock market. It's remarkable that he was able to invest billions of other people's money while many individuals are still hesitant to purchase even one stock. It's truly incredible!
Given u asked, I think number one spot is Geico. Buffett had almost 100% of his equity on it at one time, as far as I remember. Hope I am wrong though 😁
Great video btw. Never thought somebody would be capable to put something together like u did. Congrats.
COngratulations swedish investor! That is by far the best collection of Buffet Business moves anyone can look at. Brilliant video. Thanks for your videos
Hey Barry Boyce I'm flattered by your comment! Made my day! I wish you tons of success with your investment!
I just wanted to leave a thank you message for how much effort you have put into this! More value in 1 video here, than in whole channels sometimes!! You rock! 💎
Buffet himself says that in 1951, when he was 20, he loaded up on GEICO so that by the end of the year this holding in GEICO was 65% of his net worth. Source: Letter to shareholders, Annual Report 1995. Quoted in Connors, “Warren Buffet on Business”, 2010, Wiley, p 53.

Great video. Thank you very much! What typography do you use to me this videos?
after seeing this video and reading buffet's biography, it's not hard not come to this conclusion: buffet is less of an investor than he is an insurance business owner. His investment skills come from applying the float money in a good way. And it shows how fragile regulation is, since, without fancy accounting, this market is easily an oligopoly, as most insurers are reinsured - and the money flows right back to buffet's pockets.
Love your "Buffett voice" Eric great video haha 👍
This was rather well done. Other folks probably can think of other things missing. I just felt compelled to comment about Berkshire's investment in Joe Camel's parent company, RJ Reynolds, that Buffett famously remarked around the time to the effect "I'll tell you why I like the tobacco business. It costs a penny to make. Sell it for a dollar and there's tremendous brand loyalty." (This was of course decades ago when he was unconcerned about his legacy.) That is a cold rational and razor sharp sound bite.
Thank you very much for the video! Much appreciated. Is there also a video to review Warren Buffett's "failed" investments? (if there's any). I think learning from the best investor's mistake would be also very valuable. Thank you again for these videos, I immediately become a subscriber! :)
Wow-- Very grateful for your incredible amount of good work to make the content for this video. I have been thinking about questions you answer in this video for 25+ years. Thank you.

What a tremendous wonderful work you put in ! So informative ! Thank you very much !
I appreciate the work you did here. The information about why Warren bought those specific stocks is a real eye opener but it would've have been more informative if we had a list of his investments prior 1962'. Since that was the year Warren became a millionaire and it would help some of us trying to reach that goal learning from his style back then. Side note : Warren has also said in one of his annual meetings that when you reach millions and more he had to adapt to a new investment style. So said style wouldn't be efficient for us to use efficiently due to the fact that it only works on large sums.
Your videos are more informative and better produced than anything CNBC has done in 30 years of broadcast television. Kudos to you!

At 1:01:35 (but an explanation that would help with any of these examples), we learn that See's was purchased for ~35m$ between 1972-1973. The purchase was done by blue chip stamps, of which Buffett owned 19 to 46%. Does this mean that by the end of it, he owned 46% of the company and thus 46% of 35m$ (16.1m$). Then, this 16.1m$ was 44% of his net worth at the time, thus in 1973 at the age of 43 he was worth 36.6m$?
This is an amazing video also. Thank you so much for this - the time and effort I appreciate. So many insights. Awesome to see his investment history and the changes in his philosophy.
Hey Anderson Fuller! Thank you for your comment. I understand your confusion. The explanation is very detailed, and most people here on UA-cam are not interested in calculations, but in conclusions, that's why I haven't dived deeper into it. Here's a more detailed explanation:
(Direct purchases)
- In 1972 BCS bought 67% of See's for $25m, and Buffett owned 19% of BCS at that point, which means that "he paid" about $5.7m. This is considered a "direct" purchase of See's in this video. In 1973 the rest of See's was purchased and Buffett's share of this was about $2.2m. At the time of these two purchases, these numbers represented something like 18% of Buffett's net worth.
(Indirect purchases)
- During the years 1972-1979 (+1983) Buffett increased his ownership in BCS, and thereby indirectly in See's. See's was actually an important reason for why Buffett increased his ownership in BCS during the time, BCS in itself became gradually less valuable as the business was deteriorating. These are the remaining 26% of his net worth, and I've tried to attribute a value to See's in relation to BCS to determine how much of the value spent on BCS that could be considered an investment in See's. For example, if Buffett spent $5 on BCS in 1983, and I estimated that See's represented 50% of the value of all of BCS at that point, $2.5m would be attributed to a purchase of See's.
Hope this helps!
@@TheSwedishInvestor Yes that makes sense - thank you! I am very interested in tracking Buffett's wealth throughout his life as a benchmark/goal for myself (unfortunately, he had those numbers back when a dollar was worth 6 of ours which is even more impressive...)

Can't imagine how hard you would have worked for this video. Great stuff man ❤️
I love your content, but I fear that many beginner investors don't get one thing: today's Buffett is not an ideal model for a small value investor. To make a dent in their annual returns, currently Berkshire can only acquire stakes in large companies or buy entire mid-large companies.
This limits their investing universe to a very narrow set of companies. Even Buffett himself said that if he had a portfolio of just $1 mil he was sure he could get 50% a year. Even from this video we can see that he made the most profitable bets on (what were) smaller companies in the early days. So to follow his philosophy one should look outside Berkshire's current stock picks to spot opportunities.
Chris N this is a very valuable comment, I agree 100%. Luckily, those who spend some more time doing their research will discover this for themselves sooner or later, and in the meantime, at this they will not burn themselves by investing like Buffett does now. It's still a better strategy than a lot of other BS which is out there haha.
not only Warren invests in companies that are just to big for the average investor(to get a substancional return), some of the best deals are just too small for him. Also i learned this over time but analyzing his investments that he is buying companies to "stay rich" not to "get rich"
I am not convinced that Buffet could produce the returns he suggests even if he managed a smaller amount of capital. The market is no where near the same as when he produced his highest returns. Even he has admitted this fact...
OMG cannot even imagine how much time you must have spent on doing a 1 h videoscribe. At least for me it takes 1 h / min video.
Let alone the research....
Cheers Money with Penny! Funny thing, the VideoScribe part was only about 1/4-1/5 of the time it took to create this video. Most of the time was spent trying to figure out which deals Buffett has made over the years and then ranking them by looking up when they were purchased and in which amounts.
