So glad I did, can't wait to check out the tons that was new to me, and it was really cool to see the ones I did know mixed in. And I only realized you hadn't shown BLACK FLAG until the instant before you showed it! LOL
Thanks for the kind words. I knew this video might be a bit long but it didn't seem like 36 minutes when I made it. As far as Black Flag is concerned, I wish they would release stuff from the vaults. The Damaged album was actually their 3rd attempt. They scraped the first and released their first EP when Keith Morris quit. They recorded the songs with Dez but didn't want to sing anymore. So Henry joined and they rerecorded the songs again. I know a lot of the tracks are on Everything Went Black but how cool would it be to have a Keith and Dez Damaged album. Greg Ginn made the band practice 5 or 6 days a week so you know there has to be some good practice stuff that was recorded. I have a couple of albums of demos. An official release would be cool.
I kinda agree with you about Bad Brains. I'm a big fan of their hardcore tunes, but I don't care much for the reggae stuff. However, they are definitely a big influence on many bands that came later, including one of my all-time favorites Living Colour.
Thanks for watching. The Bad Brians have a couple of decent reggae songs but they are no Bob Marley. The reggae songs sure did ruin the flow at their live shows.
Love the Oi movement back in the day. Cockney Rejects, 4 Skins. I had a copy of the good bad and the 4 Skins. Just my opinion, but I’m thinking you could have cut this down to 70 and called it your top hardcore punk bands, since most of your pics were hardcore, especially since so many great bands were left out. The Buzzcocks, Sham 69, 999, The Jam, The Saints, The Undertones, Gang of Four, Generation X, The Stooges, and The Replacements.
I did say this list was limited to what I own. I now own the Saints and Generation X debuts. I would include them now. I do own The Buzzcocks and 999 but did not include them. If I owned The Jam debut or Gang Of Four debut I would have included them. Not sure about The Replacements or Undertones. I did not include The Stooges because they are prepunk. Thanks for watching and leaving a thoughtful comment. You have exposed some holes in my collection.
Who needs Rolling Stone to give us top lists?! Of course I only recognize a hand full but always enjoy seeing the depth of your collection and comments. SO cool you saw those early ST shows, part of history!!
Thanks for watching. That ST show I made my one and only stage dive. I slightly fractured my ankle. My ankle was sore after the show but the next morning I couldn't walk and I had to go to the hospital.
Absolutely great list, bro. Great buncha actual records too. I painted these lyrics on my bedroom wall when I was a disillusioned rebellious teenager full of angst in a different lifetime. I can’t keep up I can’t keep up I can’t keep up Out of step With the world Love that album. Definitely one of my fave punk records.
@@vinylrichie007 It got me into punk in the early 80's - also ''we are the league'' by the anti nowhere league - city baby attacked by rats is a hell of an album - so much better on vinyl , plastic surgery disasters is another one in my top 5
what a great video.. i owned a good deal many of those myself.. and as a so cal native, got to see some of those bands at great places like perkins.. olympic auditorium..cathay de grande..etc I need to go through my collection.. see if i have anything good
Back then there were not only good shows every week but almost every day. I did my first and last stage dive at Perkins Palace at a Suicidal Tendencies show. I ended up with a slight ankle fracture.
What a collection. You covered most if not all of them Richie. So good to see the Boston bands represented. There were some great punk bands to come out of this area. SSD Control, Pixies, Slapshot, Negative FX, Gang Green, The FU's, Burma, Jerry's Kids, etc. You showed so many great albums. I agree with your Pistols comment. I saw Suicidal T with Slapshot at the Channel in Boston in the mid eighties. Both bands were energetic. I remember people jumping on the stage for most of the shows. I forgot about Fear. Lee Ving was an LA legend was he not? I would have loved to have seen The Germs when they first started doing shows. > Excellent video Rich. I dug your top ten. The late seventies/early eighties was a great time in music history for punk~ Rob/Boston
holy wow so many chills and smiles in there I could write 10k words on that collection...but I'll spare you that fate and only say two things......one that Big Boys album was ridiculously diverse, powerful and way ahead of its time.....two is a "you forgot" Social Unrest's first album...lol
Ah, you've got 'em written down. Amazing collection, you've probably forgotten more punk rock albums than I've ever heard of. I like Mission of Burma, I got a CD of theirs from the library a while back.I used to have that Violent Femmes LP but I gave it back to a thrift store several years before joining the VC. Stupid move. Saw a good documentary a while back about the guy from Crass. He runs a commune somewhere in the south of England, and anyone who wants to just go and live there can do so. He walks around stalk bollock naked all day though. I like the album titles and cover art of a lot of punk albums.
Sorry, I thought you must have got a written list of what numbers the albums were in your pile. If not, I honestly don't know how you kept track. Even if I do a top 20 and count backwards from 20, I've lost track of what number I'm on by the time I'm holding up the fourth or fifth album.
Would like to see your list. I would recommend the Descendents' album Milo Goes To College. I think you might like it. Really well written songs with fantastic lyrics about normal life. Though my youngest daughter said all the songs sound the same.
@@vinylrichie007 thnx, V.R.. any video is a good video. please give Theatre of Hate (Kirk Brandon/ Billy Duffy) a spin, likewise Spear of Destiny (Kirk Brandon) 🤝

I stopped on 50th, I will continue the video later. What a cool choice the Alien Sex Fiend one, my favourite goth/Batcave band, always listened to them from my younger punk age. About the Bad Brains, it's just my opinion, I don't think they are the best hardcore band ever, but I'm sure they invented it in the USA, while the Discharge and few others were doing the same in the UK. I will check out all your other videos, thanks for sharing your culture.
Excellent list. I was getting a bit worried when I didn't see a descendents album until the top ten. Lots of great albums here. Glad to see 7 seconds, adolescents, l7, offspring, ramones, etc. I thought you would have circle jerks ranked higher. No surprises on #1.

My short Punk vid brought up a "suggested watch" for this vid... SO GLAD it did ! What a killer list man ! I recognized a little less than half of the titles. While I'm certainly no aficionado of 70s thru 80s punk, I was that metal dude that hung with a hardcore punk crowd who had connections in Hollywood and got any new release by any new punk band on the scene. So I was exposed to a wide variety of great punk. We would hang out at a buddies place and spin records and pirate some of them with blank cassettes, trade home made compilations, etc - great times man... unfortunately, like the Consumers album says: "All my friends are dead", so many of the punkers I hung with are gone... sucks. ANYWAYS.... Thanks for this vid ! I've had a list on my PC desktop for a while now called "A punk album per month" - and it has a list of albums I want to add to my collection, but can only afford one per month... now that I've watched this, the list is longer :-)
Grew up in Los Angeles in the 70s, then moved to the SoCal Hi Desert in my teen year - I am very thankful to have been in the epi-center of SO many great bands in the metal and punk genre.
Thank you for posting! I know some of your records! Peroni is Italian beer! Italian beer in America? We don't drink Coors beer in Italy! We drink mostly German
Never saw them. I threw this list together pretty fast. I went through my Punk records and pulled my favorites. I divided them into three groups. I then started putting the three groups in order. If I did it now it would be a bit different. The Sex Pistols would be in the top ten, The Clash and Ramones debuts would be in the top ten or close to it. Also, I have bought some since that would be included. I should do a follow up video.
glad Reagan youth got kudos, saw them a lot in NJ east coast n gigs, fun live band early on..mdc was great to band before the west coast implant like a lot bands, the feederz, glad I saw ton these bands n then something, NYC,nj, to Calif, ioregon, keep on rocking pushing 60 n still play my wax...

I was a little surprised that TSOL, Cock Sparrer , Radio Birdman and 45 Grave weren't mentioned (maybe you don't have their albums on LP)... anyway a solid list
I don't have Cock Sparrer or Radio Birdman on vinyl. TSOL should have made the list. I don't think their albums are great but certainly better than some that were on the list. 45 Grave were a favorite of mine live. Their albums don't come close to sounding as good as they did live.
Impressive collection & top 100 list. Unfortunately I can't agree here. Not any 80s finnish hardcore bands. Where are Rattus, Kaaos, Terveet Kädet & Riistetyt? Ok, maybe I am watching through "finnish glasses" here.
I said at the beginning that this list is limited to the albums that I actually own and only one record from an artist. 80’s Finnish Hardcore has been unavailable until recently.
@@vinylrichie007 Yes you did said that. I know that in the 80s there was limited distribution of these. Some local records was even hard to get here. You had to order those from bands & distros. Wow man, I'm sick to death of that Sex Pistols album, but I'm with you: I think every song on that album is great, except maybe Submission. So I've heard of almost all of these bands, but I haven't actually listened to more than half of these, I don't think. That surprised me. Pere Ubu would have been a lot higher on my list!
I saw the Descendents do Milo Goes to College in its entirety a few years ago at the Denver Riot Fest. One of my favorite bands of all time!
An amazing album would make for an amazing concert. Thanks for watching.
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing about punk rock! Show those killer wax stax
Very cool video. Great collection and taste in music. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
Fantastic review. So jealous of your collection. Thanks man. My fave line: "#10. Best punk album ever". ha!
It's a bit late but thanks for watching.
Wow. Reliving my punk younger self. Thanks
I didn’t know *THE CONSUMERS!!!* had an L.P.!! I only had their Demo tape LOL
Absolutely great list, bro. Great buncha actual records too.
I painted these lyrics on my bedroom wall when I was a disillusioned rebellious teenager full of angst in a different lifetime.
I can’t keep up
I can’t keep up
I can’t keep up
Out of step
With the world
Love that album. Definitely one of my fave punk records.
Thanks for watching. Out Of Step is a personal favorite. Thanks for watching.
Great list , my personal number 1 is Hear nothing see nothing say nothing - Discharge
I don’t think I owned Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing when I made this video.
@@vinylrichie007 It got me into punk in the early 80's - also ''we are the league'' by the anti nowhere league - city baby attacked by rats is a hell of an album - so much better on vinyl , plastic surgery disasters is another one in my top 5
what a great video.. i owned a good deal many of those myself.. and as a so cal native, got to see some of those bands at great places like perkins.. olympic auditorium..cathay de grande..etc
I need to go through my collection.. see if i have anything good
Back then there were not only good shows every week but almost every day.
The late seventies/early eighties was a great time in music history for punk~
Rob/Boston
I do have some holes. You mentioned three, SSD Control, Jerry's Kids and Gang Green.
Fuck i had forgotten about Burma, thank you!
god VS, best fucking album gotta go buy it now
holy wow so many chills and smiles in there I could write 10k words on that collection...but I'll spare you that fate and only say two things......one that Big Boys album was ridiculously diverse, powerful and way ahead of its time.....two is a "you forgot" Social Unrest's first album...lol
I didn’t have Social Unrest at the time but I recently picked it up.
Merry Christmas
I think Punk has some of the most original cover art and album titles. Written down, I have no idea what you are talking about.
Sorry, I thought you must have got a written list of what numbers the albums were in your pile. If not, I honestly don't know how you kept track. Even if I do a top 20 and count backwards from 20, I've lost track of what number I'm on by the time I'm holding up the fourth or fifth album.
I made some numbered slips of paper.
Now that's what I call punk rock.
James Griffiths i call it "slips of paper" ha
Great to see this....you surely hit the harder ones. I'll come around and do a version. What is great is, 100 versions, and all will be unique.
Would like to see your list. I would recommend the Descendents' album Milo Goes To College. I think you might like it. Really well written songs with fantastic lyrics about normal life. Though my youngest daughter said all the songs sound the same.
i'm a happy sub... 🤝... even though no mention of my favourite, Theatre of Hate. also, i thought S.P., 'N.M.T.B.' would be no.1.
I kind of rushed this video and didn’t give it much thought. Sex Pistols should be in top ten.
@@vinylrichie007 thnx, V.R.. any video is a good video. please give Theatre of Hate (Kirk Brandon/ Billy Duffy) a spin, likewise Spear of Destiny (Kirk Brandon) 🤝
Awesome video, there's a lot of stuff I need to check out, in particular BATTALLION OF SAINTS who I just checked out on line - looks like I'm adding "Second Coming" to my want-list!
I would have liked to have seen some Aussie stuff in your 100, but I know it's your collection and it's still a smoking hot list! Can't remember, did you have D.I. "Horse Bites Dog Cries"? Super album. cheers, leo
I only own a few Australian Punk albums. The Saints and Radio Birdman would be in my top 100 if I had them on vinyl.
Yet at least the hard on s or saints my favourite Oz band Brisbane band called anger motion aim still a great vid peace and love lloydy
I go back to this video ever month or so lol
I didn’t take this video that serious. If I did this again the order would be a bit different.
@@vinylrichie007 You didn’t talk about T.S.O.L. in your recent goth video. Dance with me is a great punk rock “Goth” album.
@@stevegilmore2093 TSOL were an interesting band but they really weren’t Goth but they really weren’t any other genre.
@@vinylrichie007 Very goth. Especially their later stuff. Listen to silent scream
Hardcore started in LA. The first records were by Black Flag and Middle Class. I do like the Bad Brains but I agree they are not my favorite.
Lots of good records 😵😵 Thanxxx for sharing!
Thanks for watching
Fantastic video!
Thanks for watching
Excellent list. I was getting a bit worried when I didn't see a descendents album until the top ten. Lots of great albums here. Glad to see 7 seconds, adolescents, l7, offspring, ramones, etc. I thought you would have circle jerks ranked higher. No surprises on #1.
I guess I should have Circle Jerks rated a little higher.
If I made this list today the first Coathangers would be on the list.
Great collection, jealous much
Thanks for watching. If I did the video today it would be a bit different.
@@vinylrichie007 our listening tastes change over the years, I’ve went from punk to electronic to metal…. With some nick cave in all his guises thrown in
Bloody Hell. What a collection. Plenty I never heard of but plenty I own in one form or another too. Great video, could be a reccord for the most records shown in a single video bar the ones where someone just flips though a box without any commentry.
Thanks for watching and I apologize for say fantastic 100 times.
Has that No Tag record arrived yet?
Yes, I'll show it in one of my next videos.
Yes, I'll show it in one of my next videos.
very fun , thanks !!
Thanks
Stellar video. Such a blast going through it. I’m lucky to have quite a few of these myself! Probably 35% at least.
Thanks for watching
So Cal was the place to be for 80's Punk.
Grew up in Los Angeles in the 70s, then moved to the SoCal Hi Desert in my teen year - I am very thankful to have been in the epi-center of SO many great bands in the metal and punk genre.
You have such a great taste in punk music, I would of picked over half of what you had, awesome video. Cheers.
Thanks for watching
Thank you for posting! I know some of your records! Peroni is Italian beer! Italian beer in America? We don't drink Coors beer in Italy! We drink mostly German
Thanks for watching.
I have live 8 months in Austin TX city of music! It was fun!
That’s a pretty amazing list and collection, you didn’t even use anything from the same band twice.
I forgot to mention that I would only show one album per band. It would be a completely different list if I showed more than one album per band.
The Consumers from Arizona are so much fun.
I never saw Regan Youth live. I did see MDC and they were great live. In fact none of their albums captured how good they were,
Vinyl Richie mdc was great live in like 81"-4 can vouch for that..they been doing some reunion shows past few years..
Damn hadn’t heard of The hags nor Chron gen both equally badass. Good to see my fav the germs top 5 as well Cali punk in general dominants my personal favorites.
I like all types of Punk but Cali Punk rules.
I need more of these, oonly have 10 or 15. Thanks for the education, maybe the weakest link in my collection
10 or 15 is more than most people have
Smash (1994) is The Offspring's third album, not second. First one is the self-titled one (1989), after that came Ignition (1992).
@@mountaverage2706 Thank you. I have never heard the first Offspring. I need to check it out.
Saw seven seconds, gave thumbs up
I was a little surprised that TSOL, Cock Sparrer , Radio Birdman and 45 Grave weren't mentioned (maybe you don't have their albums on LP)... anyway a solid list
I don't have Cock Sparrer or Radio Birdman on vinyl. TSOL should have made the list. I don't think their albums are great but certainly better than some that were on the list. 45 Grave were a favorite of mine live. Their albums don't come close to sounding as good as they did live.
Great video Rich!
I love you man.
Vinyl Richie! How’s that for a UA-cam stage name?
Love it!
Thanks for watching.
I recommend to you Svart Records reissues. I still have no Punk&Vomit reissue, so I can't say anything about their quality.
@@TommysVinylnaut Havoc Records have recently released some Finnish reissues.
@@TommysVinylnaut I will check out Svart.
The postage will be expensive with Svart. Give me a list of some band names and I will search them out. I now have a few Finnish albums and 7”s.
Pere Ubu nice! often overlooked
Thanks for watching
Day-Glow abortions played in Halifax a month ago and unfortunately I didn't hear about it until it was too late ..
I laughed out loud when you said, "Everybody's favorite... GG Allin!" No X-Ray Spex?
God I hate X-Ray Spex. The vocals and the crappy sax makes it unlistenable for me.
GG rules!
Awesome

FANTASTIC (can't count it ;-)
had some of them but sadly not all, great you include superheroines and joy division, they deserved it...
...please add top 50 punk 7" - i swear you have all the 'dangerhouse' stuff!?
That is a good idea for a video. I will do it. I wish I had all the Dangerhouse stuff.
thx, have also only a few 7" from that label! find in your vid a lot 'new' stuff to checking out! own from your top 10 nine ones and it's a great choice! i collect only original pressing so i have to order all the stuff oversea and costs me a fortune for shipment to germany! yesterday arrived the first 'the replacements' album - also fantastic stuff ;-) all the best
Thanks Richie! This will be my reference video when I start exploring punk. I know very little about punk, so this will be very helpful. Take care!

Make sure you check it out before you buy. Some of this stuff is not for everyone.
I have these albums too. Great minds think a like.
BGK "nothing can go wrong" (1986)
DRI "dealing with it" (1985)
Ramones "rocket to russia" (1977)
Sex Pistols "never mind the bollocks" (1977)
The Cramps "songs the lord taught us" (1980)
Dead Kennedys "fresh fruit for rotting vegetables" (1980)
Suicidal Tendencies "self titled" (1983)

BGK-often overlooked but classic Dutch hardcore punk👍
My top list are:
#1 Riot squad - No Potential Threat
#2 GBH All albums between -81 to -83
I don’t have a Riot Squad album. The early GBH are the best but I like the others that I have heard. Thanks for the comment.
I don't know riot squad I like vice squad
I concur with the majority of your choices. I loved UK Subs “endangered species” and 999 biggest prize in sport, Elton Montello- so many great bands. We were lucky that we got to see most of them
I actually have no UK Subs albums. I do have some of their early 7's. I will check out Endangered Species. Thanks for watching.

it's alive - The Ramones
Nobody's heros-Stiff little fingers
Another kind of blues -UK subs
Machine gun etiquette -The Damned
