(Jeremy) Wheel of randomness, turn, turn, turn. Tell us the lessons that we should learn. We spun the wheel last week to get two cards each to build around. What kind of decks did we come up with, and how mad will Wes get?
+Star City Games hey Jeremy, could you or Wes run Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar for next week? She's a fun Commander that turns your draws into Anticipates, meaning every time you Wheel up seven cards you get to look through the top twenty one cards instead. the best part though is that you can play a Possessed Portal and nobody but you can play the game anymore. I know Wes loves blue durdle-draw and anything that makes Cryptic Command better and you get to torture everybody by locking them in Tomorrowland ( you know what movie I mean, it's just cruel)
+Star City Games Why didn't Wes ultimate Liliana, swing with all his creatures and cast Decree of Pain o.O. It would've gained him a bunch of life (21 or something?) from Sangromancer and drew him alot of cards... In the end probably won him the game!
Innistrad Tribal theme would be nice Zombies vs Vampires vs Spirits vs Humans(Possibly Werewolfs but they lack a commander atm and lack support compared to the other tribes)
Ulrich, Krallenhorde Alpha is probably going to be a werewolf tribal commander released in Eldritch Moon if I'm looking at the flavor text for Ulrich's Kindred right.
Around the 49:00 mark, all of wes' land should have been tapped. He played pox with 6 lands out, sacced 2 for pox, then only tapped nykthos and the mind stone for nykthos cost, and played ob nixilis. That was a pretty big cheat that lets him draw a card off of erebos when he shouldn't have been able to. It looked intentional but you can never be sure. Just thought i'd point it out.
Hibernation let's you bounce your crystalline. Combine this with quick sliver and you can target their stuff and flash your Crystalline in in response to them trying to target your stuff while Crystalline is in your hand. My buddy plays a nasty Overlord deck and an experienced pilot can play around just about anything
+Johnny Trignano Nope. One block limit... though it might be fun to do world now that there's 4 Return worlds (Mirrodin, Ravnica, Zendikar, and Innistrad)
Great game! I loved how hard Wes came back for a little while... But good job to everyone, it was interesting to see you guys have to build off of cards that may have been outside of your comfort level.
Would love to see everyone play a deck based on the four planes that have been returned to. Players could only use cards from the one plane, e.g. Justin would play Mirrodin cards, Stephen's deck would be all from Zendikar , Wes could pilot a Ravnican deck and Jeremy's deck would be based around Innistrad. #chestache
Love the videos guys, I always look forward to watching them every Wednesday along with getting to read the Magic Story. Wednesday is a good day to like mtg. I know you may have done something similar to this, but I'd really like to see what your personal edh decks look like. It's a ton of fun to see what you guys come up with each week, but it be interesting to see you guys all pilot your favorite deck or one with your favorite general or something akin to that. Edh is in my opinion the most social, creative, and expressive format so it'd be fun to watch your guys preferred play styles interact. Just a thought from a long time fan. Thanks again for the quality vids, you guys never fail to deliver an entertaining game.
First of all, Stephen Green, I would like to thank you for using my snake tribal theme with Pharika a while back. For the Finale, I propose the following: Justin: I know how much you love Maren, but you've already used her this season, so you'll be using the SECOND best female Golgari commander in Glissa the Traitor. Use her artifact synergies to gain advantage and her first strike deathtouch to intimidate your opponents. Stephen: You should play Borborygmos Enraged so when you're done casting your lands as mana, you can cast them as "Lightning Bolts" with the ability. For added fun, randomly yell "Borborygmos Smash" as a Hulk reference. (REQUIRED IF YOU WIN) Wes: Giving you a blue deck would be too easy, so you will be piloting Karn Silver Golem in artifact/colorless goodstuff/tribal. Jeremy: You will be playing Brago, King Eternal. You may either choose to play a blink oriented plan or a mana rock + stax effect deck. Either way, your deck must contain Arcane Laboratory/Rule of Law + Knowledge Pool combo. Before casting you must say as follows "You know what I value more than material possessions? KNOWLEDGE!" For the most part, you all have creative freedom on what you can or cannot include in your decks. Have fun and if one or all of these decks are chosen that would be fantastic! Your Biggest Fan, Dave
honestly, best mtg video series out there. no contest. the chemistry is good. the decks are fun and none of the infinite combo craps. love it love it love it. but West. man. why didn't you ultimate the liliana? you would have have all the mana in the world with the emblem. then you can decree of pain to gain all those life b/c you have that vampire that gain life when ur opponents' creatures die. then you can draw even more cards with Erabos. it baffled me that you -3 her to kill yisan and you wift on the life gain anyway.
I was wondering myself about that!!! It would have been a game winning play. Or at least a game changing play. I saw the setup and was excited he would do it... Then he didn't and I was sad.
+Chey “Hegemon” Che If you are complaining about Wes, you should be complaining about when he choose to not win by casting decree of pain killing all of the creatures drawing him all the cards and triggering Psychosis Crawler to kill everyone else (would have even gained him a ton of life because of the vampire he had).
Season 3 Finale suggestion: Everyone plays their favorite color pair and builds the strongest deck they can based on the aspects of those colors they love.
I love Wes, and really want to see him do well again. But I'm gonna need him to leave the building, go across the street, and pick up that game he just threw away.
+papernes He had the win at 1 hour in. Ultimate lili, kill justin, wipe the board, use all of the mana from emblem powered swamps to play out the new grip while gaining 20 or so life from the vampire.
~~~TEAM WES!~~~ I would love to see Wes Wise play a deck that has the theme of UNDER THE SEA! ALL UNDERWATER CREATURES!! Nothing but Narrwhals/Walking Sponges/Spiny Starfish! Once more Under the S.EaDH!
For the finale i would like to see Mr. Estaben Verde piloting Xenagos, God of Revels, Wes Wise on a Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, Justin Parnell on Volrath the Fallen, and Jeremy Noell on Zedruu the Geathearted. Thank you guys for continuing on with commander vs. I look forward to it every Wednesday and cant wait to see what y'all do next.
58:15 Did Justin just straight up cheat here? He has absolutely no board to get confused with, and he did nothing else that turn. And no one else saw it? Am I missing something? Why did he only tap 4 mana fro incurring insight? Wow....
Mono Red Fight Club! Justin: Pia and Kiran Nalaar Stephen: Zada, Hedron Grinder Wes: Godo, Bandit Warlord Jeremy: Fumiko the Lowblood Might get 2 or 3 games out of it.
+Bangaa Brute Like the idea. But Zada is in a totally different league from the rest of those decks, being able to both do degenerate things and out-value those decks, depending on draws. Some stronger alternatives for some of those red commanders would be Heartless Hidetsugu, Krenko, Daretti, Norin and Purphoros. I just don't see Fumiko ever doing anything relevant against Zada. Alternatively, scrap Zada and put in Zirilan of the Claw dragon tribal. Would fit right in, but sadly wouldn't be as hilarious as having zada overblaze a huge goblin swarm for 200 damage per goblin.
Dear Wes, at 1:03:25 ultimate Lilly. Cast decree sangromancer then nykthos for decree of pain, gain 54 life, draw 18 cards and still have 12 mana for the turn. It could have been epic!
Pretty sure two Psychosis Crawler triggers were missed around 42:00; both draws from Arjun were counted, but not the draw two from Mystic Confluence unless I'm missing something. Love the Yisan deck! Would love to see the Spellshaper Legends in a Commander Versus vid one day.
+Sole Servitor Jin-Gitaxias in blue is much worse for lockng out a game. However, Vorinclex in green is likely more deadly as a commander, since green's ramp would get it out earlier
God Wes, I don't understand why you didn't pop Liliana, and Ob Nixilis. They wouldn't have been able to do anything about it, and you could've steamrolled them so easily. Bad plays.
+RevenantBacon (RevenantBacon) Ikr. Pop lily, use decree of pain draw a bunch of cards and have 20 mana to cast whatever he wanted. I was dying on the inside as a black mage.
at 42 min in they lost the 2 from Justin's commander effect and [Pychosis Crawler], then Justin draws 2 off of [Mystic Confluence] so [Pychosis Crawler] triggers again for 2 then Justin's commander's ability triggers [Pychosis Crawler] again for 4 so at 43:52 the life totals should be (Wes 18) (Jeremy 23) (Stephen 22) and (Justin 36).
All cards (outside of basic lands) are from the same block. This applies to all decks put together. This is limiting, but still potentially fun because of all the fun blocks in the game. I was thinking Theros, Kamigawa, or Tarkir for the actual block.
Parnell: Sen Triplets Planeswalker/Enchantments (got a cool list for you guys) Stephen: Xenagos, God of Revels Wes: Kruphix, God of Horizons Jeremy: Marchesa Value/Reanimator (also got a cool list) If not, would like to see another "competitive commander" episode!
Steven Green - Play Elves tribal Under Rhys The Dedemer Jeremy Noell - Play Elemental Tribal Under Horde of Notions Wes Wise- Play Wizard Tribal under Azami, Lady of Scrolls Justin Parnell- Play Tribal fairies under Wydwen, The Biting Gale
If Justin wants a sweet commander to build around, I'd like him to play Mikaeus the Unhallowed. Go Zombie deck! I'm working on a deck featuring him right now, and the theme (zombies don't die!!!) is so fun to play. Also, please convince Star City Games to make the Commander Versus playmats available for purchase. If they do, I'm definitely going to be one of the first to get one. Great video this week, guys. Keep it up!
Love this series guys, It's very entertaining to watch! You could try settling for different themes; maybe a maze's end deck, or a deck with all 15 gods?
What I'd like to see for the finale is for each person to choose a commander they want a specific person to play (idk how they choose the order) and then that person has to build a deck around that commander. However, if the deck of the person who built the deck wins, they get the same points for first place as the actual winner. (To deter someone from assigning trash commanders)
Loved all the videos up to date, but a little sad that some of my favorites havent seen play yet. in the finale id love to see jeremy play nekusar, wes to play a big mana lorthos the tidemaker deck, stephen to play kamahl fist of krosa, and justin to play a tasigur reanimator value deck. But regardless, I just want to see a good game and lots of fun shenanigans between you four as every week i look forward to the next commander versus video! KEEP IT UP!!!!!
Would love to see you guys playing your own personal EDH decks for the finale (just assuming you all have one). I think it would be great to see decks that you know inside out, and which you enjoy playing.
Awesome game but I was really disappointed. Wes could have easily overwhelmed Jeremy, Stephen and Justin. Wes could have killed Justin by attacking him with all creatures before casting decree of pain, then put a 5/5 demon token with Ob Nixilis. The next turn attack and kill Jeremy and put another demon token because, even if Stephen would have casted two creatures, Wes could have blocked one of them and survived, then killed his opponent with the demon or with Erebos after casting some removals.
Randomonium is by far my favorite theme of yours. I love the excitement of the deck creator and the surprise of the player, how it gives an opportunity for the jankiest of decks, and how it plays differently than every other video. With that in mind, I also love this format. It creates both a challenge and multiple themes, so not everyone has similar ideas. I really hope to see this again next season, alongside the Randomonium. As an aside, though, I think the points system could still use reworking. Docking a point for 40 second searches still seems harsh. I've never thought that 45 seconds was too much of a time committal for me, especially since everyone is still talking. However, I've felt that the strict time limit has made matches worse because a player ended up picking a suboptimal card. I think a full minute would be much more fair. Also, players should only get one point per match for saving someone. I love the saving plays, but it's skewing the results because it's being abused.
I feel bad for Wes. He was getting a ton of hate on no take back plays, he missed some draw damage triggers, and everyone was focusing on him. Yet when Justin passes the turn and discards, he gets to take it all back to stop Wes from gaining life. I feel bad for Wes. Good job though, after all that, you made some good plays and stayed alive as long as possible.
A few decks I think would be enjoyable: Justin - Kresh the Bloodbraided Stephen - Rafiq of the Many Wes - Phenax, God of Deception Jeremy - Nahiri, the Lithomancer
I've joked with my friends with an idea and wanted to suggest/ask commenters or the folks at SCG if this sounds cool. Instead of a Legendary Creature, have a sorcery as your "commander". It's a random idea. Some restrictions I thought would help: No time walking "commanders", no Phyrexian mana in cost... Maybe a minimum cost. Idk. Just a thought. The spell I first thought of was Tooth and Nail for a one or two time cast. My friends thought maybe Serum Visions/Preordain but remember, it would cost (2) more to cast each time. Idk. Bring on the criticism. Thanks for the content!
For season finally or any CVs: Stephen Green - Riku of two reflections Justin Parnell - Teysa (Envoy or Scion) Wes Wise - Jalira, Master Polymorphist (Blue) Jeremy Noell - Marchesa, the Black Rose
So i might be wrong on this but when justin put his hand beneath his deck than he draws cards there is a small time frame where he has 0 cards and therefore psychosis crawler dies. Also justin should lose a point after wes died because when stephen drew his card he said thats kinda trolly so im pretty sure he saw what stephen draw so he saw what was in his hand.
Commander VS Finale Submission: > Justin handling Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker > Stephen controlling Thromok the Insatiable > Jeremy piloting Narset but he can only win with Dovescape and can't play extra turns. > Wes embracing the Phelddagrif
Doesn't the Psychosis Crawler die to state-based effects after he puts the cards back with Arjun? I actually don't know if that happens but I think it does.
Hello members of the Commander VS. series, I have a request. I am currently in a low point right now but your videos are always great to watch and help lift my spirits. It would be awesome if you guys would play these commanders: Justin- King Macar, the Gold-Cursed Wes- Angus Mackenzie Steven- Iwamori of the Open Fist Jeremy- Gaddock Teeg If you guys do end up doing this I thank you so much and I apologize for whatever shenanigans ensue.
I would like to see some powerful commanders! I think these would fit you guys: Justin: Dranlu, Lich Lord or Chainer, Dementia Master Wes: Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir or Vendilon Clique Stephen: Adun Oakenshield or Thraximundar Jeremy: Doran the Siege Tower or Angus Mackenzie
for the finale: Steven Green - Ruric Thar, werewolf tribal Wes Wise - Lorthos, the Tidemaker Justin Parnell - Rafiq of the Many Jeremy Noell - Ulamog the Ceaceless Hunger
I would love to see Justin play Nekusar, the Mindrazer; Green with Roon of the Hidden Relm; Wes with Sig River Cut throat and Jeremy with Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker. Would love to see to see this work out. I am trying to make decks with Nekusar and Roon so to see what you guys could make would make things so much easier. You all are amazing and I love what you guys do and I enjoy watching you guys. You guys help me with my decks and with my entertainment needs. Keep up what you guys do and have an amazing day! #FEAR THE BEARD
For the season finale, Onslaught-block Commanders: Ixidor, Reality Sculptor: Wes Akroma, Angel of Wrath: Jeremy Phage, the Untouchable: Justin Kamahl, Fist of Krosa: Stephen You guys are free to build the decks however you like, but bonus points would be awarded to the person whose deck is the most on-flavor. For example, while Omnath, Locus of Mana would strictly be better, Stephen would be on-flavor if he played Upwelling instead since it depicts Kamahl in the art and flavor text. The easiest way to get flavor would probably be to play some kind of creature tribal in each deck, as Onslaught was all about that. If you wanted to further spice it up, you could play 2v2, with Kamahl and Phage vs. Akroma and Ixidor.
The theme I'd like is "The Snubbed Club" Every new set or Commander release, you guys do a video with the new legends, but there's always like one that never gets the love. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking: Jori En, Ruin Diver vs Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas vs Nahiri the Lithomancer vs Anafenza the Foremost I believe those are the ones that were left out in those particular games. Obviously, I skipped over sets where the legend left out isn't a playable Commander, such as Dragonlord Kolaghan.
Watching old episodes to get my commander fix... Stephen I thought I should let you know what puppy chow is... Lol. Chex covered in melted chocolate and peanut butter, then tossed in powdered sugar. can't believe you've never had them!
so i was wondering about this when arjun came out in his deck. when arjun puts the cards back into the deck wpuldnt psychosis ceawler become a 0/0 and die before the newhand comes? or effect wise ot in simultaneous or something?
+Johnny Trignano Creatures don't automatically die because their toughness is 0, which it technically was at that point of the game. They die because of state-based actions, when their toughness is 0 at that point. State based actions are only checked, when a player receives priority, so since nobody receives priority in between the hand going to 0 and back to a full grip, Psychosis Crawler doesn't die. If there was an ability templated like "discard your hand: draw 2 cards", the crawler would die, since in between the hand going to 0 and the player drawing cards, players would receive priority, therefore state based actions would clean up the game state and toss the crawler into the bin. Hope this helped.
For the finale: Merieke Ri Berit - Steal all stuff deck Ramirez DePietro - Pirate tribal Soraya the Falconer - Falcon tribal Boris Devilboon - BR Tokens
My suggestion is a theme of noncombat damage wins only. You can only win via cards like Felidar Sovereign or damage like Borb Enraged. A deck I would suggest for this that has been fun for me is Grenzo, Dungeon Warden using Purphoros and 40 Shadowborn Apostles with some demons and Impact Tremors. Thanks guys! love the videos.
At 48:30 and 55:27 Wes only gave +1 to Ob nixilis instead of +2....would probably won him to game with an emblem while he still had the stolen creatures....
(Jeremy) Wheel of randomness, turn, turn, turn. Tell us the lessons that we should learn. We spun the wheel last week to get two cards each to build around. What kind of decks did we come up with, and how mad will Wes get?
+Star City Games That animaniacs reference! I love it xD
+Star City Games you forgot to link the decklists in the description
+Star City Games hey Jeremy, could you or Wes run Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar for next week? She's a fun Commander that turns your draws into Anticipates, meaning every time you Wheel up seven cards you get to look through the top twenty one cards instead. the best part though is that you can play a Possessed Portal and nobody but you can play the game anymore. I know Wes loves blue durdle-draw and anything that makes Cryptic Command better and you get to torture everybody by locking them in Tomorrowland ( you know what movie I mean, it's just cruel)
+Star City Games Please do 4-player hug. Pheldagriff and Zedruu, just have everyone competitively try to hug and gift each other to death.
+Star City Games Why didn't Wes ultimate Liliana, swing with all his creatures and cast Decree of Pain o.O.
It would've gained him a bunch of life (21 or something?) from Sangromancer and drew him alot of cards...
In the end probably won him the game!
This series should be called Wes Vs.
Suprised that Stephen saved him
Dude literally played the card pox. Yea it shouldve been all of them vs wes
Innistrad Tribal theme would be nice
Zombies vs Vampires vs Spirits vs Humans(Possibly Werewolfs but they lack a commander atm and lack support compared to the other tribes)
Ulrich, Krallenhorde Alpha is probably going to be a werewolf tribal commander released in Eldritch Moon if I'm looking at the flavor text for Ulrich's Kindred right.
I absolutely love this idea
Yes!!!!
I support this idea, and I encourage to do so after the whole new Innistrad block is released, so we may have a Werewolf edh commander.
Or better yet, why not just do spooky scary commander: zombies vs skeletons vs spirits vs horrors
I want to see Pauper Commander as the finale. Uncommon general, nothing but commons in the deck...dont underestimate the power of Nyx Weaver Parnell!
+Zentotem Phalanx Leader for life!
+Zentotem Sigil Captain does some powerful stuff, too.
I like janky themes or tribal:
*pirates
*sea monster (lorthos-Kraken,leviathan,octopus )
*demons build (shadowborne apostle)
*human/soldier women (sigarda)
*kavu
*uril voltron budget (
+Corey Clark A Jalira sea cratures deck would be fun
I would like to see Justin Parnell play lorthos
Don't bother with kavus...biggest headache I've ever given myself.
I think kavu could be fun
Around the 49:00 mark, all of wes' land should have been tapped. He played pox with 6 lands out, sacced 2 for pox, then only tapped nykthos and the mind stone for nykthos cost, and played ob nixilis. That was a pretty big cheat that lets him draw a card off of erebos when he shouldn't have been able to. It looked intentional but you can never be sure. Just thought i'd point it out.
VerticalHorizon9 he had 2 green mana in his pool from one of Stephens cards
All four Sliver Commanders. Please. I'm so ready to see it.
sliver overlord gets hibernation and crystalline out and can steal all the things and keep it safe so its a bit one sided
+WeskersPlayhouse wont work crystalline sliver effects all slivers not just yours
Hibernation let's you bounce your crystalline. Combine this with quick sliver and you can target their stuff and flash your Crystalline in in response to them trying to target your stuff while Crystalline is in your hand. My buddy plays a nasty Overlord deck and an experienced pilot can play around just about anything
+Jacob McCauley dear god no... That would be amazing
+Jacob McCauley They already said that they're not going to do that.
They should do block decks. Choose a block, all cards in the deck must have been printed in that blocked
they sid that before but they got to select two blocks each
+Johnny Trignano Nope. One block limit... though it might be fun to do world now that there's 4 Return worlds (Mirrodin, Ravnica, Zendikar, and Innistrad)
+Sole Servitor I think that's even better, each player choose a plane, or have it given to them randomly, which is likely the best way
ban mirrodin and urza block then we cool
+herbert164 lol yes
I'd love to see everybody bring in their own personal EDH decks for the finale; the ones they play around the kitchen table at home.
Great game! I loved how hard Wes came back for a little while... But good job to everyone, it was interesting to see you guys have to build off of cards that may have been outside of your comfort level.
Would love to see everyone play a deck based on the four planes that have been returned to. #chestache
I'd say Parnell is Innistrad and Jeremy is Mirrodin.
Good idea, Swap them around. The core idea would be each player plays with two blocks from one plane.
+Thomas Kelly Problem is that Innistrad is only 1 block and 1 set so far...
hahaha yep. In a few months its very possible
Love the videos guys, I always look forward to watching them every Wednesday along with getting to read the Magic Story. Wednesday is a good day to like mtg. Definitely would love to see any of you play a Pheldagriff deck.
+David Bradford John played... with a scowl the entire time
+PenguinPanda2 Yeah,but with spirit and not with a scowl like last time! Like someone really trolling the crap out of everyone during the game! :P
+Soetpotatis or everyone playing it, or everyone playing Karona, False God
Definitely my favorite commander VS game so far. just the right amount of Jank and competitiveness. A+
theme: commanders from your youth. like, what was your first commander deck? then pimp it out
This Colosseum of Randomness was great! Back on track. Thanks guys!
Season 3 Finale suggestion: Everyone plays their favorite color pair and builds the strongest deck they can based on the aspects of those colors they love.
Always love these, and appreciate what you guys do, but you know it's a long video when you get adds and they're still explaining decks haha
I love Wes, and really want to see him do well again. But I'm gonna need him to leave the building, go across the street, and pick up that game he just threw away.
+papernes He had the win at 1 hour in. Ultimate lili, kill justin, wipe the board, use all of the mana from emblem powered swamps to play out the new grip while gaining 20 or so life from the vampire.
Yep. I was yelling at my computer as I watched him make mistake after mistake.
I agree. I was pissed that he did not win.
The new editor for these videos is amazing :D
~~~TEAM WES!~~~ I would love to see Wes Wise play a deck that has the theme of UNDER THE SEA! ALL UNDERWATER CREATURES!! Nothing but Narrwhals/Walking Sponges/Spiny Starfish! Once more Under the S.EaDH!

Thank you guys for continuing on with commander vs. I look forward to it every Wednesday and cant wait to see what y'all do next.
I want Stephen Green to play Xenagos, God of Revels and just smash everyone's face in. :D
At that lets just have them all play a theros god
I think having Justin play that one would be infinitely more entertaining.
+King Brackish I want to see Stephen Green suffer and play Mono Blue Control.
Have Justin play Mishra, Artificer Prodigy. (Although that would be better for a mystery commander.)
+Jacob S don't forget the fun with nether void and possibility storm! maybe some warp world too.
For the finale, I would like to see THIS theme again. Picking random-ish cards and build around them is interesting.
I want to see Wes Wise play Momir Vig as a commander.
I second this! and all gold creatures
58:15 Did Justin just straight up cheat here? He has absolutely no board to get confused with, and he did nothing else that turn. And no one else saw it? Am I missing something? Why did he only tap 4 mana fro incurring insight? Wow....
He got 2 mana from the magus that was brought back from the graveyard
Oh yeah. I think wes forgot to use the mana the previous turn.
He didn't tap the second blue for it though.
Also please please please sell these playmats
+Star City Games
Mono Red Fight Club!
Justin: Pia and Kiran Nalaar
Stephen: Zada, Hedron Grinder
Wes: Godo, Bandit Warlord
Jeremy: Fumiko the Lowblood
Might get 2 or 3 games out of it.
+Bangaa Brute Like the idea.
But Zada is in a totally different league from the rest of those decks, being able to both do degenerate things and out-value those decks, depending on draws.
Some stronger alternatives for some of those red commanders would be Heartless Hidetsugu, Krenko, Daretti, Norin and Purphoros. I just don't see Fumiko ever doing anything relevant against Zada.
Alternatively, scrap Zada and put in Zirilan of the Claw dragon tribal. Would fit right in, but sadly wouldn't be as hilarious as having zada overblaze a huge goblin swarm for 200 damage per goblin.
I just want Mono Red. Zada is the leader.
It would be awesome if all of you played a hug deck
+cody frederick competitive hug edh would be amazing. Pheldagriff and Zedruu for days
+Zackary Thomas Slykhouse Selvala jumps into the mix for the fun of it
Hmmm maybe edric also?
+Zackary Thomas Slykhouse there we go, now we have four group hug commanders to duke it out
+G-Unit Halstensgard or gingerly caress each other in this case
Dear Wes, at 1:03:25 ultimate Lilly. Cast decree sangromancer then nykthos for decree of pain, gain 54 life, draw 18 cards and still have 12 mana for the turn. It could have been epic!
Justin whined his way to victory.
Pretty sure two Psychosis Crawler triggers were missed around 42:00; both draws from Arjun were counted, but not the draw two from Mystic Confluence unless I'm missing something. Love the Yisan deck!
Would love to see the Spellshaper Legends in a Commander Versus vid one day.
Preators!!!!! I don't care who plays which one just mono color hate decks
+gein831 nice
But let's not do elesh norn
I can agree with that. I just like the idea of them being generals and not a tool in a deck
+Kerry Teague (Amneoss) The green one is EASILY the worst. He comes out and you either have an answer in hand or you concede
+Sole Servitor Jin-Gitaxias in blue is much worse for lockng out a game. However, Vorinclex in green is likely more deadly as a commander, since green's ramp would get it out earlier
i would really enjoy seeing Stephen Green play mono-blue talrand control. its some thing ive never seen him play let alone play blue at all.
God Wes, I don't understand why you didn't pop Liliana, and Ob Nixilis. They wouldn't have been able to do anything about it, and you could've steamrolled them so easily. Bad plays.
+RevenantBacon (RevenantBacon) Ikr. Pop lily, use decree of pain draw a bunch of cards and have 20 mana to cast whatever he wanted. I was dying on the inside as a black mage.
+RevenantBacon (RevenantBacon) he couldve won easily. pop lilly then ob and kill everything with the ob emblem!!!
play 4 of the patrons.
Justin - Patron of the Nezumi,
Stephen - Patron of the Orochi
Wes - Patron of the Moon
Jeremy - Patron of the Akki
at 42 min in they lost the 2 from Justin's commander effect and [Pychosis Crawler], then Justin draws 2 off of [Mystic Confluence] so [Pychosis Crawler] triggers again for 2 then Justin's commander's ability triggers [Pychosis Crawler] again for 4 so at 43:52 the life totals should be (Wes 18) (Jeremy 23) (Stephen 22) and (Justin 36).
This was lovely as always. Looking forward to the next video :D
All cards (outside of basic lands) are from the same block. This applies to all decks put together. This is limiting, but still potentially fun because of all the fun blocks in the game. I was thinking Theros, Kamigawa, or Tarkir for the actual block.
Parnell: Sen Triplets Planeswalker/Enchantments (got a cool list for you guys)
Stephen: Xenagos, God of Revels
Wes: Kruphix, God of Horizons
Jeremy: Marchesa Value/Reanimator (also got a cool list)
If not, would like to see another "competitive commander" episode!
1:33:23 You know it's a good sign when the director can be heard laughing
+Star City Games @1:14:32 Jeremy plays contagion clasp and you guys put up a picture of Contagion Engine.
Play mats are cool, would you also have a black one? So you have one for mana of each color.
well purple would probably be better than black, but I like this idea
marleybuffet very true, i was wondering how they would do it with the black background. But that is a fine idea! i'd take purple anyday.
Steven Green - Play Elves tribal Under Rhys The Dedemer
Jeremy Noell - Play Elemental Tribal Under Horde of Notions
Wes Wise- Play Wizard Tribal under Azami, Lady of Scrolls
Justin Parnell- Play Tribal fairies under Wydwen, The Biting Gale
1:14:30 contagion engine puts a -1/-1 counter on "each creature target player controls."; not just erobos.
+Nicholas Foster nvm, im an idiot, contagion clasp, not engine. x.X
Stephen Green: Sapling of Colfenor
Justin Parnell: Wrexial, the risen deep
Wes Wise: Endrek Sahr, Master breeder
Jeremy Noell: Rosheen Meanderer
Hey Justin could you possible play a Damia, Sage of Stone deck? It has black in it but its also a super fun little deck.
is there anywhere we could find out how you do your scoring? First Blood etc
Maralen of the Morn Song- J.Parnell
Stephen Green- Surrak Dragonclaw
Squee- Jeremy
Niv-Mizzet, The Firemind- Wes Wise
Have they done plane commander. Commanders and cards in the decks all coming from that plane?
Justin - Zurgo Helmsmasher
Steven - Surrak Dragonclaw
Jeremy - Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest
Wes - Anafenza, the Foremost
If Justin wants a sweet commander to build around, I'd like him to play Mikaeus the Unhallowed. Go Zombie deck! I'm working on a deck featuring him right now, and the theme (zombies don't die!!!) is so fun to play. Also, please convince Star City Games to make the Commander Versus playmats available for purchase. If they do, I'm definitely going to be one of the first to get one. Great video this week, guys. Keep it up!
Love this series guys, It's very entertaining to watch! You could try settling for different themes; maybe a maze's end deck, or a deck with all 15 gods?
What I'd like to see for the finale is for each person to choose a commander they want a specific person to play (idk how they choose the order) and then that person has to build a deck around that commander. However, if the deck of the person who built the deck wins, they get the same points for first place as the actual winner. (To deter someone from assigning trash commanders)
32:00 How is Jeremy unmorphing 2 creatures with only 5 available mana?
Loved all the videos up to date, but a little sad that some of my favorites havent seen play yet. in the finale id love to see jeremy play nekusar, wes to play a big mana lorthos the tidemaker deck, stephen to play kamahl fist of krosa, and justin to play a tasigur reanimator value deck. But regardless, I just want to see a good game and lots of fun shenanigans between you four as every week i look forward to the next commander versus video! KEEP IT UP!!!!!
Would love to see you guys playing your own personal EDH decks for the finale (just assuming you all have one). I think it would be great to see decks that you know inside out, and which you enjoy playing.
Any chance of seeing some sort of budget commander decks?
Awesome game but I was really disappointed. Wes could have easily overwhelmed Jeremy, Stephen and Justin.
Wes could have killed Justin by attacking him with all creatures before casting decree of pain, then put a 5/5 demon token with Ob Nixilis. The next turn attack and kill Jeremy and put another demon token because, even if Stephen would have casted two creatures, Wes could have blocked one of them and survived, then killed his opponent with the demon or with Erebos after casting some removals.
Can we see a zero creature (excluding the commander) control deck?
Randomonium is by far my favorite theme of yours. I love the excitement of the deck creator and the surprise of the player, how it gives an opportunity for the jankiest of decks, and how it plays differently than every other video. With that in mind, I also love this format. It creates both a challenge and multiple themes, so not everyone has similar ideas. I really hope to see this again next season, alongside the Randomonium.
As an aside, though, I think the points system could still use reworking. Docking a point for 40 second searches still seems harsh. I've never thought that 45 seconds was too much of a time committal for me, especially since everyone is still talking. However, I've felt that the strict time limit has made matches worse because a player ended up picking a suboptimal card. I think a full minute would be much more fair. Also, players should only get one point per match for saving someone. I love the saving plays, but it's skewing the results because it's being abused.
I feel bad for Wes. He was getting a ton of hate on no take back plays, he missed some draw damage triggers, and everyone was focusing on him. Yet when Justin passes the turn and discards, he gets to take it all back to stop Wes from gaining life. I feel bad for Wes. Good job though, after all that, you made some good plays and stayed alive as long as possible.
A few decks I think would be enjoyable:
Justin - Kresh the Bloodbraided
Stephen - Rafiq of the Many
Wes - Phenax, God of Deception
Jeremy - Nahiri, the Lithomancer
I've joked with my friends with an idea and wanted to suggest/ask commenters or the folks at SCG if this sounds cool. Instead of a Legendary Creature, have a sorcery as your "commander". It's a random idea. Some restrictions I thought would help: No time walking "commanders", no Phyrexian mana in cost... Maybe a minimum cost. Idk. Just a thought. The spell I first thought of was Tooth and Nail for a one or two time cast. My friends thought maybe Serum Visions/Preordain but remember, it would cost (2) more to cast each time.
Idk. Bring on the criticism. Thanks for the content!
Maybe people with better card knowledge might weigh in with broken sorcs that would make it unfair.
+Mitchell Lewis Depending on the colors, any x spells could be broken if you manage to get infinite mana. So I would take those out of possibilities.
For season finally or any CVs:
Stephen Green - Riku of two reflections
Justin Parnell - Teysa (Envoy or Scion)
Wes Wise - Jalira, Master Polymorphist (Blue)
Jeremy Noell - Marchesa, the Black Rose
On this week's episode, everyone gangs up on Wes. Even though he's already in last place.
You missed the two Psychosis Crawler triggers from the Mystic Confluence draws.
So i might be wrong on this but when justin put his hand beneath his deck than he draws cards there is a small time frame where he has 0 cards and therefore psychosis crawler dies. Also justin should lose a point after wes died because when stephen drew his card he said thats kinda trolly so im pretty sure he saw what stephen draw so he saw what was in his hand.
Commander VS Finale Submission:
> Justin handling Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker
> Stephen controlling Thromok the Insatiable
> Jeremy piloting Narset but he can only win with Dovescape and can't play extra turns.
> Wes embracing the Phelddagrif
Stephen Green :Horde of Notions
Jeremy Noell: Rafiq of the Many
Wes wise: Thassa, God of the Sea
Justin Parnell: Prossh, Skyraider of Kher
Doesn't the Psychosis Crawler die to state-based effects after he puts the cards back with Arjun? I actually don't know if that happens but I think it does.
Justin: Norin the Wary. Stephen: Blind Seer. Wes: Veldrane of Sengir. Jeremy: General Jarkeld. EVERYONE is Mono, had awful Commanders, And GO!
Troll toll , you got to pay the troll toll if you want to get into that boys soul. Stephen killing it.
Hello members of the Commander VS. series, I have a request. I am currently in a low point right now but your videos are always great to watch and help lift my spirits. It would be awesome if you guys would play these commanders:
Justin- King Macar, the Gold-Cursed
Wes- Angus Mackenzie
Steven- Iwamori of the Open Fist
Jeremy- Gaddock Teeg
If you guys do end up doing this I thank you so much and I apologize for whatever shenanigans ensue.
Yay for another game of 3 vs Wes. Like always.
I would like to see some powerful commanders! I think these would fit you guys:
Justin: Dranlu, Lich Lord or Chainer, Dementia Master
Wes: Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir or Vendilon Clique
Stephen: Adun Oakenshield or Thraximundar
Jeremy: Doran the Siege Tower or Angus Mackenzie
Generals : Lyzolda, Titania, UB Sygg, Rhys.
Keep on with the good stuff guys.
for the finale:
Steven Green - Ruric Thar, werewolf tribal
Wes Wise - Lorthos, the Tidemaker
Justin Parnell - Rafiq of the Many
Jeremy Noell - Ulamog the Ceaceless Hunger
I would love to see Justin play Nekusar, the Mindrazer; Green with Roon of the Hidden Relm; Wes with Sig River Cut throat and Jeremy with Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker. Would love to see to see this work out. I am trying to make decks with Nekusar and Roon so to see what you guys could make would make things so much easier. You all are amazing and I love what you guys do and I enjoy watching you guys. You guys help me with my decks and with my entertainment needs. Keep up what you guys do and have an amazing day! #FEAR THE BEARD
For the season finale, Onslaught-block Commanders:
Ixidor, Reality Sculptor: Wes
Akroma, Angel of Wrath: Jeremy
Phage, the Untouchable: Justin
Kamahl, Fist of Krosa: Stephen
You guys are free to build the decks however you like, but bonus points would be awarded to the person whose deck is the most on-flavor. For example, while Omnath, Locus of Mana would strictly be better, Stephen would be on-flavor if he played Upwelling instead since it depicts Kamahl in the art and flavor text. The easiest way to get flavor would probably be to play some kind of creature tribal in each deck, as Onslaught was all about that. If you wanted to further spice it up, you could play 2v2, with Kamahl and Phage vs. Akroma and Ixidor.
The theme I'd like is "The Snubbed Club"
Every new set or Commander release, you guys do a video with the new legends, but there's always like one that never gets the love.
Off the top of my head, I'm thinking:
Jori En, Ruin Diver
vs
Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas
vs
Nahiri the Lithomancer
vs
Anafenza the Foremost
I believe those are the ones that were left out in those particular games. Obviously, I skipped over sets where the legend left out isn't a playable Commander, such as Dragonlord Kolaghan.
Watching old episodes to get my commander fix... Stephen I thought I should let you know what puppy chow is... Lol. Chex covered in melted chocolate and peanut butter, then tossed in powdered sugar. can't believe you've never had them!
when did 1/3 of 25 become seven?
What about the original 2011 Commander product?
How many times will Wes fail to put the correct number of loyalty counters on his plainswalkers
so i was wondering about this when arjun came out in his deck. when arjun puts the cards back into the deck wpuldnt psychosis ceawler become a 0/0 and die before the newhand comes? or effect wise ot in simultaneous or something?
+Johnny Trignano Creatures don't automatically die because their toughness is 0, which it technically was at that point of the game.
They die because of state-based actions, when their toughness is 0 at that point. State based actions are only checked, when a player receives priority, so since nobody receives priority in between the hand going to 0 and back to a full grip, Psychosis Crawler doesn't die.
If there was an ability templated like "discard your hand: draw 2 cards", the crawler would die, since in between the hand going to 0 and the player drawing cards, players would receive priority, therefore state based actions would clean up the game state and toss the crawler into the bin.
Hope this helped.
1:19:30 Wes ticks On Nixilis up 2 loyalty??
+wtfwhat Yes, that's what the card says. He didn't tick it enough for 3 turns.
+wtfwhat derp
+wtfwhat
Read the card, the plus ability is a plus 2
For the finale:
Merieke Ri Berit - Steal all stuff deck
Ramirez DePietro - Pirate tribal
Soraya the Falconer - Falcon tribal
Boris Devilboon - BR Tokens
Justin Parnell, I would love to see you play Mikeaus the Unhallowed, around infinite combos using sacrifice outlets and Tatterkite!!
so... why did wes not damnation at the end there? And he was missing the +2 on his obs nixilis for several turns.
55:00 so wes ticked up his ob nix, but only put one of the 2 counters on it
Wheres mossbridge troll in the green deck ^^ love that card in edh
My suggestion is a theme of noncombat damage wins only. You can only win via cards like Felidar Sovereign or damage like Borb Enraged.
A deck I would suggest for this that has been fun for me is Grenzo, Dungeon Warden using Purphoros and 40 Shadowborn Apostles with some demons and Impact Tremors.
Thanks guys! love the videos.
At 48:30 and 55:27 Wes only gave +1 to Ob nixilis instead of +2....would probably won him to game with an emblem while he still had the stolen creatures....
Can we get a rules list link in the comments or description?
if i have decks that i built can i post the deck list here and tell who i want to play that deck??
Why Stephen lose a point for first blood against Wes. Was it a last place first blood rule?
doesnt psychosis crawler dies when you put your whole hand on the bottom of your library?
