This method is really fantastic, I have been training my adopted cat Jackson, who we got at 4 years old and he has gone from biting most times when you touch him to sitting patiently, letting me hold his head and toes and prodding around his teeth. We’re not at brushing yet but I’m sure we will be in no time :) he gets really focused around 5 mins into the training session, and you can see the switch in his behaviour. Thanks for your help!
It's so hard to be patient with the process when I worry that her teeth are collecting plaque every day 😭 but I really want teeth brushing to be a low stress, daily thing so i just have to suck it up haha
I have been watching your videos. I just got a new cat about a month ago. So far Ella has learned to come, sit, jump over my legs , and fist bump. I have trained dogs in the past but never a cat. I want the training session to be enjoyable for both of us. I really like the way you break each training session into steps that I can understand. I have been trying to brush Ella's teeth without much success. She likes to lick the Toothpaste. But I can't get the brush into her mouth. Thanks for the information. Taking it slow but consistent is the fastest way to make progress. Thanks for putting this video together.
I never considered the neck/face touching migh be a thing he needs. to get use to, because I give him pets there all the time! but holding is different, thank you for this advice!
Thank you for this tutorial!! I didn't know where to start, but thanks to this video, my cat now loves licking his tuna treat off his toothbrush and i feel more confident trying all this training using my cat's body language/comfort as a guide.
My first cat was such an angel she let me lie her down and slightly push her mouth open with my thumb to get the toothbrush in, she let me do that the first time I ever tried to brush her teeth. Anything I had to do for her be it hygiene or meds she'd let me do without a struggle for the most part. I've got some kittens now from a shelter and they're a completely new experience, it's taken me time to get them to like being held and accept head boops so I'm very glad i was able to find your channel because I don't want to traumatize them or make them hate getting their teeth cleaned.
Hi! This video is awesome! I'm working on training my cat right now. Do you know where I can buy a platform for her like the one you show in this video?
Love the video! By the way, in The best cat treats for clicker training what was the food that you used not the treats the food that you use that would be a good healthy diet
My cats toothpaste tastes like chicken. I use a round toothbrush. He's only 17 weeks and not as well mannered as Jones yet but he loves chicken toothpaste😂
My cats love to yowl (not meow, YOWLLL) for food, treats and attention. How can we implement clicker training to train them to be quiet and then receive what they want? Also cant wait for the kit to be available on Amazon again :)
I have recently adopted two cats, a boy and a girl of 1 month. They are brother and sister. How can I manage to train them cause we don't have any spare room to do it individually.
Hi! Looking forward to trying this, the cats both chomp on coconut oil toothbrush as is but one of them doesn’t like the back of her teeth cleaned. Do you have any suggestions on how to clicker train in a multi cat house? And for brushing how do you get the back molars? Thanks (cats are wasabi and soy sauce)
Hello Julie! I will be adopting a 7 month old cat soon. Should I wait a while before I start teaching him tricks? And I was also wondering when the cat school training kit will be available again on amazon?
getting cats to like carriers is super easy. the secret is to not bring it out only and you're going to the vet. leave it outside at all times and put a soft blanket/their favourite blanket in there. its a small, closed off area so naturally they're going to like being in there. and keep some treats in there as a reward for going in. your cat will do the rest of the work. and you can check daily to see if the cat has gone in by checking for treats. my kitties enjoy the carrier so much that once both cats tried to fit in there together 😂😂
Yes it varies. You move on to the next step when your cat is 110% comfortable with the previous one. Some steps take longer than others, and teaching this won't be fast, but work at your cat's pace and be patient! It'll reward you in the end
hey, I wonder, how long does it take to do all these steps before you can actually brush? Because you have 10 steps, is that 10 days? Just wondering when you can introduce the next step after the other...
There is no set amount of time that will work for every cat. You need to go at your cat's pace. It will likely take much longer than 10 days. Just remember to keep the sessions short (3-5 mins) and work on it consistently. Only move onto the next step when your cat is fully comfortable and cooperative with the current step.
Hi, I've been teaching my cat tricks that require a lot of jumps and movements so I can prevent laziness, but how should I make her do the tricks without treats? I always throw a treat on the ground and then she does something for it, but if the reward isn't include she won't do it. I'm trying to introduce her to a clicker so that's why it is a bit harder to make her understand that the trick is first and then comes the treat. Could you help? 🐈
Any recommendations on a toothbrush for cats? i can't find one small enough for cat's mouth
This is what we use: amzn.to/3es74BG
This little Japanese one is indeed the best,I've tried them all. Most are far too large or have thicka profile to use successfully in a cat's mouth.
A baby toothbrush Canadian vet recommended AND ENZIOMATIC TOOTHPASTE.
Wow! Great video! Thanks for the tips

Thank you so much! I would be great if you make a video of how to cut their nails. Please!!
A nail trim video would be amazing! Thank you for all you do!
I’ve been cleaning my cats ears with coconut oil and she always licks the jar so I’m definitely going to start this process. Thank you!!!
That's excellent to hear!

Fantastic video. Thank you. I had to come up with another affirmation as “Yesssss” is a hissing sound and cats are instinctively afraid of snakes.

So helpful! Thank you. Wondering if you can make a video on bathing the cat please?
Thank you that was amazingly smart and well put together and I think it will work well with my cats. Can’t wait to try it.!!

You should get a cat. They are wonderful friends 💖
Thank you for sharing! Will try hard with my cat!
How long do you spend on each stage before moving on please?
This was the best presentation. Many thanks.

Your cat trusts you completely😍
I was waiting for this video!! Thanks so much.
Thanks for this wonderful video. Love it!
Hi! This video is awesome! I'm working on training my cat right now. Do you know where I can buy a platform for her like the one you show in this video?
Coud anyone advice me on a toothpaste that tastes good or coconut oil is good enough for cleaning teeth?
Love the video! By the way, in The best cat treats for clicker training what was the food that you used not the treats the food that you use that would be a good healthy diet

this is so helpful. Is it okay to train cat even they are just a kitten or just wait the age before their adulting months

Omg I need a video on this too!!

you can brush kitty teeth with coconut oil??? and here I was freaking out trying to find the best cat toothpaste 😂😂😂 my cats love the taste of it too
I was wondering what foods you think are best/ not good for cats? What kind (kibble/canned/fresh) and what brands are your go to? Thanks in advance!
@@sara.631 Raw meat carries diseases that can harm not only your cat, but people too. Just cook it first, it's not that hard.
Wonderful. How did your learn?
Quick question- what if your cat prefers crunchy trays instead of liquid? My cats know to follow a “Target” so does the toothbrush become the target?
Hello Julie! I will be adopting a 7 month old cat soon. Should I wait a while before I start teaching him tricks? And I was also wondering when the cat school training kit will be available again on amazon?
You can start working with your cat right away - there is no reason to wait :) We should have our kits on Amazon in the next few weeks.
@@CatSchool Looking forward to it! I’m glad I stumbled upon your channel 💖💖💖
Hi Julie 💁🏼♀️please can you do a video on how to train your cat to go into their carrier it would really help me

Literally keep the carrier out all the time and use it like any other piece of furniture. Feed them there even
Over how many days do I do each step?
Wondering this too. Would love to hear from others that have had success too, maybe it can vary by cats personality n such.

@tensei1710 yeah you can force your cat but it's neither advisable (quite the opposite actually) nor the point of this video
Excellent video!
How long do you do this for? 1 hour? Is this 1 day training? Or split into a few days?
Training takes several days or weeks and very short sessions (3-5 minutes).
Love it even though my cat will hate me when I do it xD

Thank you! Is it possible to use dental floss in cats to remove interdental debris?
Not normal
Hii pls upload new video cant wait
😁
my cat is a simple guy, I think it will go well
Hi mis julie i am trie to train my cat but it not coprait what can i do that

@@sara.631 thank you!!
Anyone know the treat she's giving him? Is it just a tube of velvet mousse or puree?
It's called Inaba Churu Puree.
yeah my cat would slap my hand if it’s related to treat, she’s good aggressive
I like the training, but I am afraid my cat will gain weight due to all the treats.
I gives she' s favarot food
I use a glove and rub the gum line
My cat would tear me apart if I do this🙄
I think that you'll be able to make your cat speak.
