Every town has pros and cons when it comes to moving to and living in town. Let's take a look at my top Cons of living in Schaumburg Il. Overall Schaumburg Il has more pros than cons, but these cons could be a deal breaker for certain people looking to move into town.
    1) Downtown. Schaumburg Il does not have a true downtown like many other suburbs in surrounding towns. The Town Square located off Schaumburg Il and Roselle Rd does offer shopping, dining, coffee, Oberweiss along with a large Library and outdoor area for a Farmers market and outdoor entertainment.
2)Cost of living. Compared to the national average Schaumburg Il has higher cost of living. But compared to the rest of illinois and other cook county suburbs Schaumburg Il is not quite as expensive to live.
3)Traffic. with population in Schaumburg Il being over 70K, and having many more thousand that travel through and work in town traffic can be an issue. Elgin O'hare on the south end of town and I-90 on the north can travel well tho, so getting out of town can be easier than getting around town.
4)Woodfield Mall. Woodfield is both a pro and a con. It brings jobs and tax revenues, but it also can be a burden on Schaumburg Il police and fire.
    5) Property Taxes. Schaumburg Il is about 2.5 times more than the national average for property taxes and overall Schaumburg iIl s probably in the middle for taxes for the northwest suburbs of chicago. The good thing is the Village of Schaumburg Il utilizes property taxes in a beneficial way for residents. Schaumburg Il has excellent schools, Police, Fire, public works and park districts.

Schaumburg is one of the best places to live in Illinois and also in the US, because of its clean roads, not much rush in the shops, and not much traffic on the roads, only 20 or 30 minutes drive to O'hare International Airport, lots of all kinds of jobs available, churches, car dealers, restaurants, hospitals, hotels, etc.

The traffic in Schaumburg is terrible. It gets jam packed near Schaumburg and Roselle roads

😂My excellent Hoffman Estates High School education was great. I’ve been living in Hawai’i since I graduated in 1985. I miss…Garibaldi’s, Fireside Roller Rink, Woodfield mall - The Alley, Vie Da France, Lord & Taylor, The Rosemount Horizon, The Rusty Scupper, Farrell’s, Rose Records, The Cookie Factory, Lou Malnotti’s, Poplar Creek, Cuba road trips, Santa’s Village, Moon Lake Village & Old Chicago. It was a cool place to grow up in the 70s & 80s. Aloha!

I lived in Schaumburg for a number of years. I lived near the Schaumburg PD and near Woodfield mall. When we bought our first house, we considered towns such as Schaumburg, Bartlett, Carol Stream and Bloomingdale. Schaumburg‘s homes cost more than in the surrounding towns.
Schaumburg Rd has so much traffic, Golf Rd can get heavy but it’s road is wider so it isn’t as bad. Woodfield Mall and the area around Woodfield Mall gets super busy and hectic.
Schaumburg is probably most ideal for young adults that like going out doing things, like trying a variety of restaurants and like shopping at the wide variety of stores.

A friend of mine of mine who lives in the west suburbs, considers Woodfield Mall affectionately as downtown Schaumburg 😂

@@LivingintheChicagoSuburbs I lived on the corner of Golf and Higgins bordering Hoffman Estates back in the mid to late 90s, and this pretty sums up the area. At the time, the area was undergoing a massive retail and corporate redevelopment.

@@LivingintheChicagoSuburbsI grew up in this town and I agree there is no downtown like Elmhurst has or LaGrange or Downers Grove. A good downtown is on a street that slows way down and lined with shops and restaurants. Schaumburg never had that vibe. Old Town Square was originally supposed to be a Western Vibe but failed and was abandoned by the 90’s

As a resident of Schaumburg, my only real con for me is - Cook (aka "Crook") county and everything related to it like the mentioned taxes. When the county's offices are located in the country's most corrupt city what do you expect? Otherwise, great schools, low crime, and a good location from Chicago, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

I love Schaumburg and I think that area is very safe. I wonder what you think about Palatine and Barrington?

No Fiber Internet in Schaumburg. The two main internet providers are WOW and Comcast and they're slow, unreliable and expensive. Schaumburg needs to fix this problem asap.

Move, those property taxes are low. You want more space, move to a farm

Just don’t call the police department of Schaumburg. They really suck on doing their job. Schools, they aren’t all that- they are over rated.
