I have relatives that were here a long time ago....they said it was farm fields and really nice prairies. Now..kind it’s kind of a concrete jungle! Luckily they did keep some green space and Busse Woods/poplar creek surround it. Thanks for watching!
Great tour and even though it was 2 1/2 years ago, it’s so strange seeing everything so empty. We owned three homes in Schaumburg from 1987 to 2020. We downsized to downtown Roselle just before the pandemic started.
I haven't lived in Schaumburg since early 2000's... thanks for the drive down memory lane. Means more than you know... what's changed and what hasn't. 👊❤✌🥲
I spent the first 29 years of my life in Schaumburg. Grew up at 629 S. Salem Dr.. I really enjoyed the video. I’m kind of glad you didn’t show Portillo’s on Golf Rd.. I might have cried.
As a young adult in the late 70s, I was a Woodfield Mallrat from Elgin. I had a girlfriend in 1978 who joind me in aimless wandering, record shopping, and dining at Farrell's.
Lived in Schaumburg for 6 years for job before moving back to my home country 😊 love the place and My only regret I couldn’t explore the place fully.😒 thank you for the nostalgic memories.
When I lived in Arlington Heights, I used to work at Woodfield at Marshall Fields, if I tried walking around in there, I'd definitely need GPS, I never really explored Schaumburg to get an idea of how much stuff there was, I do recall how it used to look along Golf Road, the car dealers were one of my biggest memories, I bought a 81 Camaro Z28 from Northwest Lincoln Mercury, my sister and ex-husband bought a new Mazda RX-7 from Fireside Chrysler-Plymouth- Mazda, & when I used to go out I remember going to Black Pearl Chinese restaurant, because it was next door to Franklin-Weber Pontiac, in fact a gal that was in my high school work program class, her dad was part of the dealer, and she used to work there herself, but now that's all a huge memory in my life
I think a lot of Schaumburg residents don't know the north part of Schaumburg that well. There's that whole area that starts near Harper College and stretches to the Convention Center and Rt. 53. On a side note: Conant HS is part of Hoffman Estates but it's in Schaumburg township.
Yep..I hear you Robert. But if you have to pick a suburb Schaumburg is pretty decent. Great schools and location. The village also has top not services like police and fire...and there are a variety of homes to pick from.
@@LivingintheChicagoSuburbs hear you, we grew up in Skokie. Schaumburg served it’s purpose for my brother raising a family there. Both of us in our seventies though brothers we see things differently. I won’t give up any of my remaining days to bad weather which he’s going through now. I made my choice to leave over 40 years ago for that reason. Everyone makes a choice 👍
I'm curious. I see a lot of single-family housing in this video. Does Schaumburg have apartments near the Woodfield Mall? Or hotel rooms where you could live near or on the Woodfield Mall?
They are there…80k of them plus the daytime population bringing that number much higher. Covid was at its peak and many businesses were closed down…that’s why it looks so empty. Thanks for watching and commenting!
It was very strange seeing it go up on that corner. The existing houses on Meacham were built decades early, but why would anybody build a house on the corner in 2020?
I googled the demographic and noticed there's a lack of diversity, what would you say is the general political leaning of this area? Should minorities be worried?
This is great. I grew up in Schaumburg, lived on Dartmouth Lane from 63-77. I take a tour like this every time I come back to visit.
Raised in the Chicago suburbs. It Is amazing how Schaumburg has changed in the last 30 years.

@@LivingintheChicagoSuburbs yes it was, used to be. Schaumburg Rd was mostly farmland.

Thanks Michael! Yeah, when I got done I couldn’t believe I forgot Portillos!
The house color used to be pink, right?
I grew up at 227 Acorn Ct. :-) I probably rode my bike past your house hundreds of times. I left Illinois middle of my Sr year of high school (1984)

What was your home country?
I live in Schaumburg now and I love it.
To the rest of the country Schaumburg is known for it’s beautiful Woodfield mall. I’ve seen videos of it and I am quite impressed.
What a fantastic video!

Thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching!
Thanks Joe. It was the first video I did so I was felt really awkward talking. I’m a little better now.

Your 100% right!
Looks nice my brother has been there for years. But now it’s covered in snow and 10 degrees AND it’s in Illinois Crook County so there’s that😖‼️

I love this town to death beautiful

Hi John, There are apartments around the woodfield and Schaumburg area…
I loved on mecham rd in the 70's surrounded by cornfields oh how it's changed !
I bought my ex a nice winter coat from Nordstrom rack, a few years ago. How is that area now?
Looks like a nice place. Where are the people??

They have jobs......
The Big White House at the busy intersection at 20:40
I read about it and there's something significant about it ..I forgot now 🤔anybody know⁉️
It was very strange seeing it go up on that corner. The existing houses on Meacham were built decades early, but why would anybody build a house on the corner in 2020?
I saw my house in this 😅
I was hoping to see where a single person would live
Thanks! Let me know if you want to see other places singles like to live around the Chicago burbs.
shoutout to my hometown! Better then Scuffman Estates! Go Saxons!
Should have shown houses of worship.
That can be my next tour..thanks for the great idea.
Scumburg, you mean.
I googled the demographic and noticed there's a lack of diversity, what would you say is the general political leaning of this area? Should minorities be worried?
Good question. I'm moving to this area in the next month or so...
As long as your a black, hispanic or asian karen or brad you will be fine if you know what i mean lol
I'm black, I lived there from 2006-2011 as a kid. There's all kinds of people there.
It is diverse. My neighborhood was a melting pot.
