- Tabernacle Organist Richard Elliott and the Orchestra at Temple Square perform "Hot Pipes" (Movement no. 4 - Jazz Concerto for Organ and Orchestra) from the 2014 Pioneer Day concert featuring Santino Fontana. Music: Victor Davies
It doesn’t matter how many times I watch or listen to this. I’m still excited and amazed every time.
This is another amazing piece of music from Richard Elliot and the Orchestra.
Every time that I watch Elliot playing organ more I become fan of this amazing organist.
The orchestra also bring a amazing contamination of beauty to the music.
Congrats Rich and the orchestra.
Loved the hot pipes Richard!
Would love to duet this one with Richard, what a awesome piece.
I love how he makes the pedal work look so effortless.
The story goes he lost use of his hands partially years ago and taught himself how to do the pedals this way.
Richard is unequivocally one of the most talented, innovative, and versatile organists of his generation--in the world! Definitely my fave in every genre! Artist and showman!
I'm just totally blown away with this piece of Excellence!!!! As a lover of pipe organs. All I can say is AWSOME.
This is the best thing I have ever listened to! Now, please excuse me, I have to go find my jaw. It dropped to the floor and it's still somewhere, waiting to be recovered.
😂 love your sense of humour
Truly delightful!!! Ah the power of music to stir the mind and soul. I was smiling the whole way through. How I wish I could have heard this in person!
I salute you richard elliot and company. I salute you.
Music - The food of God
And that is the truth! 🫠😇
Being at this concert was FANTASTIC! This number got everyone off their feet in a standing ovation. I mean, it was truly an extraordinary piece to see live. Richard Elliot is one fantastic organ player.
He is, indeed!!!!! Bravo, Mr. Elliott!!!!!
This is so awesome! It is fun to hear the choir's and orchestra's amazing talent put to something they usually don't do. Just goes to show that they are all really that good!
Richard Elliot makes that pedal work look so easy. Amazing.
I hear this song, and in my minds eye I see Bugs Bunny causing justified mayhem at a construction site. Love it!
YA LONG EARED GALOOT!!! YA FUR BEARING VARMINT!!!LOL!!! GOTS TO HAVE YOSEMITE SAM IN THERE WITH BUGS!!!!
Same here 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Mozart said the organ is the king of instruments. This is the king and his court cutting loose on Fat Tuesday.
I couldn't agree more with Mozart! 😀👌👍
fantastic combination of organ and orchestra! Talent in abundance! Kudos!
Man, I saw this live! This performance stuck with me even years later.
This piece of music, by Victor Davies, was written by a Canadian who's still alive (he as born in 1939, according to Wikipedia).
I didn't think I would enjoy this when it first started playing, but that was great!
Love to see all are working together in a uplifting harmony!
I listen to this every few months and it always makes me smile. :-)
If u can't jive to his than I don't know what's wrong with u!!
Brilliant.and the orchestra one of the finest in the world. Richard Elliott no words can justify his talent
Love it! So lively had try to dance to that beat by my lonely self!
Love this number! Great organ playing and wonderful orchestra! A fast, fun number! Very enjoyable! Very upbeat!
What a gift from God 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺....
Hello!
Richard Elliott is one phenomenal person on the organ a joy to watch and listen to wow what a man and what a player
Fantastic how could you not like any of the music and the choir are a joy to listen to it makes me want to listen more and more thank you The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Richard .
BTW, if I am not mistaken this is not the Tabernacle Organ but the one "across the street" at the Conference Center.
Correct, the Conference Center Organ.
You are correct. Smaller pipe wise, but the console is set up the same so that the organists of temple square can practice on one organ and play it on the other.
Delighful musical composition for a magestic and humble organ by an exceptional organist. I can hear the sweet concodian of sound and everyone is entertained. It's pleasing to have all various types of classical music played at the Mormon Tabernacle.
Słucham tego , słucham i nie mogę się nasłuchać, Wspaniałe wykonanie..Wielkie brawa dla Pana Richarda
All of you of the mormon tabernacle orchestra and you Richard elliot may one day play some songs maybe calling the conductor john wilson to play some symphonic big band pieces or similar?
AAAAAHHH!!GREAT STUFF!!LOVED IT !!SUPERB!!MANY THANKS.FROM(U.K.)
Ohhhhhh I so love Mr. Elliott on the big Tabernacle organ!!! He can make that organ literally D-A-N-C-E!!!! I just love love LOVE this!!!! Lately, my heart has been so heavy and burdened with the sadness and the strife that this COVID-19 has brought to our weary nation. This made me smile and right now, tears are just streaming down my face because I needed the happiness that this makes me feel. Thank you so very, very much for sharing and posting this treasure.
4:34 that clarinet though
Fantastic music! God given talent used. Keep it up, it speaks to the soul and heart.
smokn' hot!
Haha... Nos grands musiciens parisiens peuvent en prendre de la graine ! Sans aucun tralala ni m'as-tu-vu, d'ailleurs !
Bravissimo !
I adore the organ. Thanks for posting these videos. What a fantastic example of the skill of this group of musicians.
That made me SMILE :o)
it is remarkable how they present now, as they did when i first heard them. so nice and so world class.
I agree
This song reminds me of my hair growing ever so long and fast and I will become like repuzal in the future.
mega, ultra amazing, fantastic!!!
I love big pipe organs!
Jazz on a pipe organ. Oh that my father had lived to hear this one, I think he'd highly approve as he brought me up on classical pipe organ music plus all the jazz greats. :)
Wspaniałe -Brawo Richard:)!!
Wspaniała muzyka i aranże. Jestem pod wrażeniem wykonawców i Pana Richarda
Looks like the Conference center organ: less mellow than the tabernacle organ but still amazing!
The Conference Center organ had some real challenges in terms of being able to fill a huge, non-resonant space which is aimed primarily at speech, not music. Some of the bass pipes are actually constructed like a fog horn in order to get enough volume. (The technical term for that type of pipe is a Diaphone.)
I wish there was a happy face instead of just the thumbs up. This made me very happy.
Phantastich, einfach toll, einer der größten Organisten mit Spitzenorchester
Das ißt ja meine Meinung auch.
Espetáculo!!!
Awsome subbass starting at 4:53! Only hear on good earphones or very good systems! Please someone who hear this, speak something! Sorry for bad english, I'm from Brazil.
I have a set of Koss Pro3AA headphones, so I know exactly what you're talking about.
Considering it's "Only" on 25 inches of wind, yeah, that bass is really nice.
@@trailcam77 you should look up the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall Organ, it's the world's largest, and rebuilt to 53%, almost 19,000 of 33,112 pipes now playing, and it's bass is sick as it goes down to CCCCC, or 8 hertz.
Rock n roll or boogie woogie ?
I love this!!! Enjoy!
Love it!!!❤❤🎉🤓
This is an Amazing performance!!
55 miserable people gave this a thumbs down. They must just be mad at the whole world and blame everyone else for all their problems.
It speaks volumes of their character.
“When we open our mouths, we let the world know who we are”
To see these talented people perform their amazing skills is remarkable.
being there was incredible
I can imagine hearing this on a theater organ.
This is my favorite piece from Richard and the Orchestra. Love hearing the Skinner organ, amazing.
This is not the Skinner Organ.
That would be the Schoenstein in the Conference Centre. Easy way to tell them apart (especially when Rick is at the console)- Tabernacle (the A/S) has a vented music holder... Conference Centre has a solid wood music holder. Sometimes, with the lighting, they look the same.
The Conference Center organ was built by Schoenstein, which is located in the San Francisco Bay area. They also did some significant refurbishment on the Aeolian Skinner instrument in Tabernacle, including some new ranks and a new console.
This was so awesome Friday night. It's the first time I've been part of a Standing Ovation for an Organ piece.
Thanks for making a good organ sound like a merry-go-round!
All I can say is....Amazing, Awesome, Wow
This is simply Excellent!
It reminds me of a possible böhm emporio's demo song;-)
Pipe Organ, very very good, I like it!
h
Wow, absolutely fun to listen to.
whoaaah.....this is cooool..........Loooooove it...

Does anyone know if MoTab's summer performances are put onto cds? I want to say probably not, but if anyone knows for sure that would be awesome!
I'm a big fan of the choir and a big fan of the tabernacle organist. So to answer your question, since I know the choir since I was a kid they have never recorded a cd in their summer performances. But in their broadcast they have broadcasted the places that they have been. I've seen them do it. If they did it before, then I'm sure that they'll do it again. I'm not sure. All they do for recordings is that they either record it in the Salt Lake City, Utah tabernacle or the conference center. I'm Sorry.
Bummer. Not surprising, but maybe I'll be able to find it on itunes or something.
+Kristen Snyder I believe I have seen their tour CDs at Deseret Book Store. It might be worth looking.
davy jones is a regular on the tabernacle choir organ. he plays with all tentacles.
That organ LOOKS way too good for "left toe poking" :-)
The church should be giving Richard Elliot 10%
Lorchestre du Tabernacle est certainement le meilleur du monde avec sa Chorale merveilleuse
daniel pedemonte j'ai le même sentiment... ils sont merveilleux
This was a very good piece. It was almost like the orchestra and organ were dueling at some points lol. Very nice.
@ 2:45 - oops, nearly lost them. Watch the conductor! What a great sound! I'd love to have heard that clarinet solo @ 4:34 done on a soprano saxophone, it would have suited the mood equally as well.
Very nice👍
Who is that guy behind the organ at 0:08 to 0:12? It's not Mack or a reflection of Richard because he looks like he is sitting down in a chair and moving back and forth. Weird....
GREAT MUSIC THOUGH!!! Can't get enough of that Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone trio!
That's the conductor of the orchestra on CCTV. :)
It's actually the front of house audio guy in his hiding place.
Musically how is called the musical part from 2:12 to 2:19 with strings and 2:22 to 2:27 with brass ?
a juxtaposition, a swap of roles in the arrangement. Don't know what the latin is for this!
If I got it right it is like opposites.
These are examples that I found: Dark - Light, Dry - Wet, White - Black.
Is it the real meaning for that?
Thanks
Hi.
Jip kinda like opposites. If the left hand plays left to right the right hand plays right to left, or if a cord or string is played in a low key, the same chord or string could be copied in a high key. The same chord or string may be echoed a bar or less (a short time) after the first set in a complimentary reverse order of notes.
Been many many years since I played and read music and I am ashamed to say I have all but forgotten the terminology and meanings of much.
Hi Derek.
Thanks for your explanation.
Elliot and the entire orchestra including the conductor deserve a big A plus for that particular song. I am amazed for such creativity and the beauty of this amazing piece of music. I listen that song almost every week and I shared that song with friends in another countries. They also loved.
Thanks again
Nyck461 Sorry to bring up an old comment, but if I understand what you are asking about, it could be referred to as sequencing. (If I remember correctly.) A rough definition would be something like, "Repeating a set of notes beginning on a different scale degree or octave." Does that answer your question?
I really love this music tune and it takes away the pain in my stomach.☺️
Looks like a Cartoon with bad tricks 😅😅
Wanderful !!!!!
Was the composer invited to the performance?
Блестящий!
Pedal wow... Amazing⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
