  • Hey all! In this video I work with a newer student of mine, Ryan, Co-host of The Arizona Breakdown, and we start the basics of tone and distortion placement. He was feeling pain, so he reached out for help. I take apart this lesson, explain the exercises, and give you all an inside look on what learning with Kardavox Academy looks like!

I only get headaches and stuff when I force myself to go like 2-3 hours straight but usually it never happens if the session is 60 mins or less
Of course, other factors can be at play (you may’ve had a headache coming already but vocals made it come out worse afterwards). Hard to say. But keep at it and never forget warm ups. I like to warm up a few days sometimes before going through a 30-60 min practice session

Hi kardavox academy. I am enjoying your videos and I like the way you break down the analysis of metal vocals. You seem to have a good understanding of them and you are good at describing how to perform different vocals. I wish this channel was available in the 90s, when I first began learning how to growl. I am self taught. I have a few questions for you please, if you don't mind answering them for me. Does the depth and tone of someone's voice, play a part in how deep and gutteral, a person can growl? I mean, if a person has a very deep, strong manly sounding voice, does it mean that he will be able to perform deeper, more gutteral growls, akin to dying fetus or Chris Barnes, tomb of the mutilated style growling? And if a person has a softer, not so deep, perhaps higher tone voice, does it mean that he will not be able to perform deep growls? I hope you understand these questions. I am asking you, because you have the experience to answer these questions. I am able to growl similar to Glen benton, serpents of the light style, and like Chris does, on tomb of the mutilated. My voice is not very deep. Yet I can growl quite low, but I am unable to do fry screaming, mud range or high pitch screams/growls. So my goal is to perfect my low growls and aiming for better resonance and distortion. In this video, your student, Ryan, has a very deep voice, and so I assume that he would be able to growl deeply and well. Tia
