It gets better for the fact that Cait been around for years and been in Shinra's pocket for a while, and was allowed to hang out with the Turks due to their late Boss allowing it. Man been terrorizing that company as a cat to the point they like, please for the love of god do something productive with him and Reeve is like, to the Golden Saucer to party and work I goooo~!
I think of it as Reeve has been so tired and drained working for Shinra, he uses Cait as his one outlet of getting fun and pretending everything is fine. Which is way more depressing than I originally thought it was...

Never thought I’d imagine Cait Sith with a Scottish accent, but here we are and it fits him very well.
Well he’s based on the Gaelic folklore of the same name (but pronounced “Ket-Shee”).
So him having an accent of a Gaelic related region (Scottish, Irish or Welsh) makes sense.
In advent children and dirge of cerberus I believe he had one then.

Probable meaning of all 3 Cait Sith's fortune reading :
1. "Things are looking up, so throw caution to the wind. Put your trust in others, and a last minute twist may pleasantly surprise you."
It's going to be harder from on. Grind and prepare all your party members well, as you have to use all of them during final battle against Jenova fragment and God Sephiroth along with supposedly-dead Zack and Aerith.
2. "Watch your belongings. Lucky Color : Black."
Keep the Black Materia safe or you'll end up got it stolen or giving it to someone.
3. "Seek and you are sure to find. But alas, you shall forever lose what you cherish the most."
Cloud will find Sephiroth eventually as you keep on searching but Cloud will lose things that are precious to him. Things that are precious to him are either person or his own freedom. As Cloud is basically Sephiroth's puppet for the part of the Reunion, the more he looks for Sephy, the more he become puppet of him thus losing his freedom as a person.
I was thinking about this too.
Rebirth's new fortunes:
1: "Things are looking up, so throw caution to the wind. Put your trust in others, and a last-minute twist... may pleasantly surprise you." - Wait for P3 IG.
2: "Watch your belongings. Lucky color: Black" - One of the two Black Materia, probably the one that opens the path to different worlds.
3: "Seek and you are sure to find. But alas, you shall forever lose... what you cherish most." - Aerith.
(4: Your lucky food is... mushrooms) - We next go to Gongaga, maybe Cloud will also be fed this during his recovery in Mideel idk lol.
And the original ones:
1. OG: "Give into the good will of others, and something big'll happen after summer."
2. OG: "Be careful of forgetfulness, your lucky color is blue?"
3. OG: "You will meet that [person/Sephiroth] which you pursue. However, you will lose the most precious thing."
I think if we get a side-quest earlier on in P3 that is a Leslie side-quest where we help save his love (Merle) then we are 100% saving Aerith (and hopefully Zack too) by the end, as Leslie also has a yellow-flower pendant.

Didn't care much for Cait Sith in the original, but here I totally love him! Maybe because he ups the quirkiness (not in an annoying way) and I just love his voice. I always wanna know what he says and does next.
Also I like how Barret is concerned about Cloud when he gets the 'lose what you cherish most' fortune and even scolds Cait Sith for it. Shows how far these two came compared at the beginning with them constantly at odds with one another. Gone from 'don't trust you' to some brotherly relationship building here.
I like how Cait is clearly spying on them and fishing for answers to figure them out only to slowly like the party more and more as they show stronger morals than Shinra. It's pretty clear that he's forgotten the worst part of his mission when he going through the mansion and saving Barret and Aerith.
The accent helps 100% it’s quite good and it’s an interesting dialect that nobody else speaks in.
I love how Cait Sith sits in Tifa’s lap as she’s driving. So cute.
I bet Reeve's controlling Cait Sith with one hand at that moment.

Cait Sith's such a funny but charming character, and they did his portrayal in this game really well. I cant help but smile whenever I see him on the screen, as it just so happens that I love cats.

Cait and Reeve always been one of my faves. To see them get flushed out and brought to life with more screen time makes me so happy and excited to play the game just for their chaos and shinanigan.
Every time he meows a little song I'm thinking "grown-ass man"
Its been suggested that instead of being a straight up direct control, voice to mouth puppet of Reeve talking through Cait, what he actually is is Reeve using a power onto himself to animate Cait to life and control him through suggestions, Cait has his own autonomy but he follows the commands Reeves programs for him.
This was shown in Dirge of Cerberus when both Reeve and Cait Sife were in the same location talking together, and in the ultimania book of FF7 its says Reeve counts Cait Sife as his 'child' in a way.

I find it hilarious how they're talking to each other as if they're already teammates.
They are already teammates, at least in Cait's perspective, remember: "I'm coming with you no matter WHAT you say!". That's Cait's words to Cloud when they met.
I hope Reeve eventually meets the group. It’s never actually implied who’s controlling him but I think that scene with tseng definitely was a subtle nod to reeve being beyond the controls. I just want reeve to have a general good interaction with cloud and gang. He seems like a good guy out of all the Shinra higher ups everybody else is either nuts or just flat out bonkers look up Palmer.
Reeve genuinely wants to help people, and he feels he can do that best from the inside. The problem is that he's the lone voice of reason among sociopaths and lunatics, so he has to tread carefully or potentially be "replaced". I think he works more closely with Rufus and the Turks because they're marginally more reasonable than the other company leaders.
Maybe that much is clear. His secretary did say to tread carefully or implied it when he said what happened to sector seven was beyond the pale. He definitely knows he’s in a tough position. Will be interesting to see if they have him in more of the next installment we know Cait will be back.@@MrCrunchytime

It is implied at one point. Its kind of a blink and you miss it moment but at one point Reeve is in a meeting with the shinra board and simultaneously while in Nibelheim they try to get Caits attention and he’s nonresponsive

He is like a combination of cute, funny, and entertaining in this game. Which I suppose is what they wanted in the original, but technically failed (I say technically, because I still liked it, but this is truly an improvement).

Sorry, but the Japanese original text doesn't say most. The English script is pretty different than the Japanese lines in a lot of places. Whoever wrote the English lines went for more artistic licenses than accuracy. I'm not saying if that's good or bad because the art of translation depends on the translator but it's a things we should all keep in mind when consuming translated works.
They needed to have Mog be constantly depressed.

No I think it’s clear now the two are completely separate from each other which helps greatly for me because it means Cait sith is his own charachter.
I believe Reeve controls the mog. Idk they're separate but at the same time connected. It's somewhat ambiguous. I think that's part of what makes them interesting characters.
@@hippiefarts Except there's a point later where Reeve is arrested but Cait sith is still active. One of the wiki's says it's a specific materia Reeve has that makes Cait Sith come to life but he can act on his own. And with the hinting going on in this remake I think it's now clear cut they are not the same person and I'm happy for that.elf. They can likely just communicate with each other easily. I really did not like the idea that this fantastical creature was just some guy in a suit and has no actual charachter for himself. So making it clear that they are not the same was crucial for me in this remake triliogy.

I love how Rebirth changed so many people's opinions of Cait Sith. I'm one of those who was largely indifferent towards him in the original and barely used him at all, but in Rebirth they made him a cute and endearing character who's actually fun to use. The little "I'm just a silly cat" poses he does are adorable.
Having to play as him solo, though... that's another story lol.

...Zack's return in the final battle?
The twist is Aerith faking her death by switching the timelines on Sephiroth after cloud saves her. You can see the rainbow colors showing a different timeline forming where Aerith is killed. Aerith got saved in the original timeline we were following but after that moment we start following the OG timeline where she is dead, they switch back to the new timeline when cloud tells Aerith to wake up like both of them are in on it. Sephiroth def underestimated Aerith like he says.

in the original game, yes (i was mainly indifferent, i was also barely 10 at the time), his dice ability (formerly a limit break in the OG) had a chance to instantly wipe the entire party, not the enemy, so if you hadn't saved after grinding for an hour and you had a baaaaad dice roll, well, tha'ts an hour you ain't gettin back!
he also didn't get much screentime, and back then when we first got him, we had no clue about his construction, rebirth is far more open with saying ''aye, i cannae help but be a shinra toy''
and it comes down to attributing his actions differently, through his connection to Reeve (who, aside from his appearance in dirge of cerberus and i believe one phone call in Advent children, also didn't get much time to shine, but we always knew reeve was a good egg)
cait is a proxy, albeit an autonomous one, and the good done by cait is applied to reeve (being the one who made him) and the bad done by cait is laid on the cat/mog robot (since cait is also autonomous and has his own agency, yet acts on Reeve's orders)
essentially cait was where we could direct any hate, since some of his actions made that justifed in the original (pivotal moment in the second gold saucer visit)
in rebirth the fact that we now have the abiilty to flesh out the story and characters; whereas in the OG we were limited by the technology and memory size of the game, will do wonders to make cait more of a likeable character
Put down to the fact that most of the PCs all have tragic backstories and/or edgelord leanings, and then you have this robot Theme Park fortune teller cat.

He doesn't roleplay Cait Sith, Cait Sith has his own autonomy. This is even shown in the original game, where Reeve is arrested and Cait Sith still functions. Reeve gives him life, delivers commands and objectives to him and sees through his eyes.
His Scottish accent is so entertaining. It’s really good too so who cares if nobody can pronounce his name

The new player (Cait Sith) desperately wants to be accepted into the party, but they've clearly built such an over the top joke character that it just grinds against the overly serious/edgy tone of the other players as they do their best to stay in character.
