    I love how they amped up the Jonas/Martha parallels to the point of each one of them having similar quantum duplicates. They each have a self who dies young, a second self who grows up to become a timeline-manipulating elder, and a third self who goes to the origin world to untie the knot.

      People suggest that Claudia was able to "break the loop" because of her free will. That she didn't contribute to either Adam or Eve's plans. And so she had her own agenda, which was ultimately saving Regina. People theorize that older Claudia continued to pass new information to younger Claudia as the cycle continued to loop. And at some point, when enough information was accumulated through an "infinite" cycles, Claudia finally discovered the real truth of the origin world and knew how to stop it. And in so doing, utilized the loophole to "split" and send herself to talk to Adam in the most recent future as they said it became the first time her and Adam spoke.
      However, I disagree. I think it's just another quantum entanglement loop, and that it always existed. I think both realities co-exist of Claudia dying that contributes to the loop happening, and Claudia surviving in stopping the apocalypse. It had to happen because when Martha 2 and Jonas was in "the light" they saw each other's younger counterparts. Meaning, when they were younger, they already witnessed themselves stopping the apocalypse, so it had to already happen. Claudia's utilization of the loop just meant that everyone dies, while simultaneously the other keeps it going. I think as the audience, we just got to witness an ending that was never revealed, that has always occurred. If it's true that Claudia continued to pass information down and "make small changes" to break the cycle, then the loop had to have a beginning where the "first" Claudia didn't know anything. Which means the loops were never infinite but rather finite. I could be entirely wrong though.

      For one, Adam isn't the person who sends Martha to save Jonas from the apocalypse, Eve is.
      At 2:11, after Martha is confronted by adult Magnus and Fransziska, Adam sends Martha to 1888 to give Stranger Jonas the dark matter.

    Mmmm. How can dark/alt Martha be genetically identical to original Martha? Jonas is Martha's great-great-grandfather and he doesn't exist in alt Martha's world. Somehow Mr Infinity exists in both worlds and inseminates Agnes Nielsen with identical sperm in both? In my opinion parallel timelines and quantum mumbo-jumbo were introduced by the writers to get them out of the bind of determinism they had built for themselves in the first two seasons. Fortunately the fans were sufficiently engaged to do the work of fixing (or overlooking) the plot holes.

    Also another important question is how Claudia notifies there is a time split, while all the cycle happens again and again and nobody can change that.
    So that's my big question how does she get that self-awareness about time split, whereas she was in that infinite time loop??
    I would be very happy if you make a video about these things

    • @050138
      @050138 4 роки тому +3

      This is my number 2 doubt!
      Someone explained it as follows: Everytime the cycle repeats and just before the Apocalypse happens, since Claudia is a scientist, very intelligent and knows about time travel possibility, she makes an incremental understanding which she then notes in her book differently....
      The change is small but the cycle has already happened an innumerable number if times for her to understand what was happening, and figure out there must be an origin world....
      Once she maps out all the family lineages, and realized that there is no beginning to some characters.... So she eliminates those characters born out of loop, and in the remaining characters, figures out Tannhaus must be the one who must have made a time machine in the origin world which must have created these two loop worlds so the correction lies in saving his family in origin world thereby preventing the splitting of world.... She tells the same to Adam and at the end Adam asks Jonas to go with Martha and save the world....
      Which brings us to my number 1 doubt!!!
      If the two worlds aren't created, and when Tannhaus family dies on the bridge he hadn't made the time machine by that time, then where did the Jonas and Martha come from who saved his family? A paradox which nobody seems to explain....
      Does it mean the two loop worlds were destroyed or they are always there as an alternative reality? And what is the Deja vu Hannah gets at the end looking at yellow jacket? How can she if the two loop worlds are not at all created?

      @@050138 Chaman thanks for your great attention! your answer challenged me, but I'm still not convinced. if nothing can be change in those two world, so Claudia could not be able to change anything even her thoughts (according to the Show's rule). so she should not be able to add anything in her notes because the cycle is unchangeable, also the show doesn't explain us about any possibility of change in the cycle, specially about Claudia.
      But about your number 1 doubt! I think all of these has happened and Tannhaus finally managed to bring back his son:
      in the origin world first time he loses his son and creates a time machine which destroys his world and creates two new worlds. in these new world Martha and Jonas with the help of Claudia can save Tannhaus' son. and Tannhaus notice's nothing. so in my idea all of this existed at one time and then were destroyed. but Tannhaus finally won!!!

    • @050138
      @050138 4 роки тому +1

      @@miladre5655 Regarding your original question, yes the show showed that things are predestined to happen and nobody can change the cycle, because Adam, Eva who were the main players playing chess, always wanted to continue doing what they always did.... And didn't really want any change, so they always create situations where things will repeat themselves.... And even though all characters want to change past, they end up being the cause for the events they want to stop in the first place.... The show says the past is always repeated because people are slaves to their desires and can't control what they want or will which was the shows rule, but the only explanation to the ending is that the cycle can be changed a bit.... If you remember at the fraction of time when time stands still before Apocalypse....
      Eva knows this and not Adam, so she uses to her advantage by splitting the reality and creating two chain of events of Martha in the Alt-world - one who saves Jonas and one who doesn't....
      So the only way is to assume Claudia made incremental progress each cycle, and when she realized what was happening, she killed her alt-self in Eva's world and then travelled in both worlds and understood from both Adam and Eva what was going on and wrote in her diary.... Later in the last cycle explains to Adam
      Coming to your explanation of my other question, I understand but again if that is true, it means in the origin world, the cycle of events can be broken and past can be changed right? My question is that, if Tannhaus did not create the time machine at the end, there is no future version of time machine going wrong, so where did Jonas and Martha come from (as from present point of view the time machine wasn't made and splitting of realities didn't happen at all).... It is only possible if Jonas and Martha exist in the future as part of some possible alternate reality.... Tannhaus son says he saw angels, so where did they come from, when past has been altered and there is no future for them to originate from

      My understanding is that Adam sent her to 1888 to give Stranger Jonas the dark matter but also sent her to rescue Jonas just before that. If you recall, in episode 6 I believe, we see Adam sending Franziska and Magnus into the God Particle. Then, we see the two of them approach Martha telling her she needs to rescue Jonas from the apocalypse on his world. However, Eva is the one who sends Bartosz to prevent Martha from rescuing Jonas so she can instead become the scarred Martha that kills Jonas. Let me know if I’m missing something though.

    • @anonymoose3350
      @anonymoose3350 4 роки тому +3

      @@OneTakeVids Okay, so, Adam, in his past, never remembers a moment where Martha saves him from the apocalypse. That's because Martha did in fact, never save him from the apocalypse.
      When the "time-stands-still-for-a-second" loophole happens, two Jonas's are created.
      One is saved by Martha. He is later killed by Martha with a gun.
      The other is not saved by Martha. He rides out the apocalypse and later becomes Adam.
      If Adam did indeed send Martha back to save young Jonas from the apocalypse, that would mean he knows there are two Jonas's out there. One who gets saved by Martha, and the other who doesn't (himself). And hence he would know about the "time-stands-still-for-a-second" loophole.
      But we know that he doesn't know about this loophole, because when Claudia explains it to him later he is surprised and shocked and all that.
      *So yeah, he couldn't have sent Martha back because that would imply that he knows about the loophole.*
      Now for who actually sends Martha back.
      When Jonas gets killed, there are 4 Marthas standing around. One is Eve, one is adult Martha, one is the scarred-across-the-eye Martha who just shot him and finally the one just out of her own alt-Winden who accompanied Jonas and got impregnated by him.
      So now Eve sends this fourth Martha back to save Jonas from the apocalypse, and, yes, also sends Bartosz to stop her. So now Eve has created a Martha to bring Jonas to her world to impregnate the alt-Martha, and also another Martha (who later grows up to be Eve) to kill Jonas as well.
      Another thing, Adam sending Martha to save Jonas makes no thematic sense, since Adam wants to destroy the origin; he would not have sent Martha to save Jonas because that is what ultimately results in Jonas impregnating Martha and the origin being created.
      Whoosh. That was long. Hope I've got my point across.
      Great work on the rest of this video by the way.

    • @saritamaharjan5593
      @saritamaharjan5593 4 роки тому

      Anony Moose I somehow got your point but Martha who got impregnated by Jonas was actually going to stop Apocalypse with Bartozs after Jonas got killed. She was stopped by Magnus and Franzisca in her way so I don’t think Eve would have sent her to save Jonas. Why alt Martha would be working for Adam if Eve sent her to save Jonas. So I really don’t know who actually sent Martha to save Jonas. If Eve sent her then why is she working for Adam and if Adam sent her then how did he know about that as he never been to alt world
      Also I think the whole idea of Adam trying to kill pregnant Martha is dumb. Suppose if he knew about splitting realities then he would have also known that killing pregnant Martha won’t stop the loop as there is another Martha who is still pregnant with unknown. If he didn’t know about splitting realities then why he thought that he can kill pregnant Martha when he knows that her older version, Eve already exists. As we know that when young Jonas tried to kill himself, Noah told him that he can’t die because his older self already exists so Adam must have figured out that in case of Martha as well. Having said that according to the last episode we can assume that he didn’t know about splitting timelines as Claudia was one who explained that to him at the end.

  • @milosvitin
    @milosvitin 4 роки тому +4

    Nice, concise presentation Gill, as always. Part which still troubles me is initial saving of Jonas, which we see at the end of season 2. It is presented as Magnus and Franziska recruited her, and then allegedly sent her to save Jonas. But how Adam knows this and why he wants that? Adam we follow, in his past was not saved by Martha, but went into the cellar. We know that Adam whole show is playing the chess putting everybody in certain place to be able to become Adam in order to kill the origin. So, it is not logical that Adam sends Martha to save Jonas. One answer could be that either Eva sent her, which I doubt since Eva bit later splits the timeline by sending Bartosz to prevent her saving Jonas. So, are there two Adams??? Or maybe Claudia sent Martha, but we never seen their relation in the show so I doubt. Another answer could be, I hinted in your previous video, that not only that timeline splits by exploiting quantum entanglement, but actually world splits into two sub-worlds. But again who did that split, since only Eva and Claudia know to exploit quantum entanglement. Maybe Claudia in some point earlier splits the world into two so we have two Adams.
    Applying Schrodinger cat thought experiment to unravel this is not so easy, even tough show runners tried to do it at the beginning of ep.7. Crucial moment of Schrodinger cat experiment is observation i.e. opening of the box from the outside of cat's domain. In the show, it is happening from the quantum entanglement which is out of the domain of world where you want to make the split, so I still presume that it is not only splitting of somebody's timeline but actually splitting the world into two sub-worlds. There are also several other interpretations of the Schrodinger cat thought experiment with different hypothesis e.g. whether reality collapses with observation or what if the cat can observe itself... Not only the cat, scientists are also debating what happens with the observer, one theory is that observer also splits and gets permanently entangled with the cat... Even though Schrodinger cat experiment looks simple, it is impossible to conduct it in practice (at least by us, currently being embodied beings, bound by time-space), as the box is actually complete cosmos with us within it, so we can't make the observation. In that way we will never be able to fully understand why and how are so many Marthas there in the show.
    I would suggest, if you can make the video and give us your opinion also on the time machines in the series, since there are so many of them - that is second biggest trouble for me. How Adam knows to travel between worlds? From where he got such machine or it can be done with every one? Marta brings him the fuel in 1888 but he still needs many years to make it stable. Is Noah building his own time machine, and whole season 1 & 2 working on his own to find Scharlotte? Did Adam bring Noah from future to 1922, or maybe Eva? God bless🙏

    • @OneTakeVids
      @OneTakeVids  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks milosvitin!! Also, great questions - for the first one, I'm thinking:
      Adam knows about the alternate world because, as you said, he's visited in 1888 by Alt Martha who shares with middle aged Jonas that young Jonas had been to her world. I'm not sure if we see exactly how much info Alt Martha shared with Jonas at that point but it may be enough for him to piece together that Adam is the one that sent her. In the future then, we don't even need to answer to "why would Adam want to send his younger self to Martha's world" because all he's doing is ensuring that everything repeats exactly in the cycle. He may be playing a game of a chess, but it's a game where he's already seen all the moves and his objective is ensuring that all the moves are repeated exactly. He's doing this to ensure that the past leads to his future and he exists as he is today... and can go on to destroy the knot. So Older Jonas learns that Adam sent Alt Martha to rescue Jonas... Older Jonas grows up to become Adam and sends Alt Martha on the same mission to ensure that this part of the cycle is fulfilled.
      The only part which is unclear to me is that Adam wouldn't remember being rescued by Alt Martha. So, you would think he is aware of the time "splitting" effect that occurs, creating two Jonases. So, when Claudia tells him about the "loophole" and says Eva is aware of it, while Adam isn't - what part of it does Adam not know about it? Perhaps, Adam doesn't realize things can be changed in that moment. He may know that the timeline splits into overlapping realities, but he may consider that split as just one more step in the pre-determined cycle. I.e., he doesn't know that things can be changed in that moment.
      Lastly, love your point on the time machines! It's an interesting one to think about, I may take your suggestion and put that video together.

      @@OneTakeVids I get your point Gill, it certainly explains how Marta is sent by Adam back to 1888, that is anyhow confirmed by Magnus. But issue is still saving Jonas, since Adam actually needs Jonas to go to cellar, that is Adam's past. Marta saving Jonas is a move which may mess his chess game.
      Adam actually does not know anything of saving Jonas, which explains why middle aged Jonas is so confused seeing Martha. If Adam is informed by Martha that she saved Jonas, it is still risky for him to decide to change his own past and instead allowing Jonas to go to cellar, to send him to Eva which is unknown scenario to him. He would need to believe on young Martha's word, which I doubt he would do it. Adam doesn't know for the quantum entanglement and how to split timelines, so he can not same time save and not save Jonas. All what Adam knows is from Triquetra book which is written by Unknown, so Eva and Unknown have the upper hand in the chess game. That is why Claudia also tells Adam that he still does not know to play the game. So, Adam failed in-numerous times, while Eva and Unknown were successful in-numerous times in moving Adam all around to finally bring him to kill Eva. All until Claudia became conscious enough to figure all out. (I intentionally use word 'innumerous' instead of 'infinite', but its another subject which we can discuss some other time...).
      Remaining options to save Jonas are either Claudia or Eva, but is very unclear how. I tried to think of scenario how Eva sends Martha to save Jonas, and a bit later splits Jonas by sending slightly older Bartosz to stop her. I vaguely thought that in that case number of Martha's may be even more, but my mind is blown totally so needed to stop it. Second option isClaudia, but in that case showrunners would show us at least some trait of Claudia relation with Martha, but they did not. Third option is that there is maybe another Adam who was split by either Claudia or Eva, which again blows my mind. Or show-runners just made a mistake there... So, mystery remains. 🙏

      Out of these two Jonases, one is later killed by the Martha who didn't save him on Eva's orders (she already had sex in the past before the split happened, with another version of Jonas who was saved and left in her world by the past self of her own alter-ego following Adam's instructions to save Jonas).
      It is this Jonas who dies, and the other version not saved runs to cellar, lives to become Adam.
      Consider again, the Martha that did not save Jonas, due to Eva's orders to Bartosz to stop her - whose child is she carrying? Jonas, but if her past version didn't save Jonas, how come he ends up in her world to father her child?.... I think this is the reason splitting of reality and both possibilities happen to make this possible and explainable (Schrodinger's 🐈)
      The Martha who saves Jonas leaves him in her world and goes to 1888, while the other Martha kills Jonas after their union so that their child is alive.... So both Martha's are useful for Eva's plan (one to bring Jonas to her world who is later killed by Adam, and the other to kill Jonas after the union to stop him from becoming Adam, while unknown to her there is another Jonas who survives in the cellar to become Adam), whereas only one Martha is integral to Adam's plan (or so he thinks).
      So Adam doesn't know there is a third Martha, he thinks there are only two and he has killed the two. The original Jonas in Adam's world sees Adam shoot the original Martha (he already sees Martha's grave in his future world) and when he is saved by alt-Martha, has sex with her and gets killed by one version of her.
      The other Jonas, who had also witnessed Martha being shot by Adam and moved to cellar, lives to become adult, in 1888 is shocked to see alt-Martha, already pregnant from his other version who was saved, gets the Cesium from her (after which Martha goes to 2053 Adam), stabilizes the God particle, uses Noah to get the missing pages of Triquetra notebook from Claudia, which is authored by the Unknown (his son born in the future) and understands that the Martha who is from another world is the one who gives birth to Unknown, so sends Magnus and Franziska to stop her and save his younger self, which she does but he doesn't remember because he isn't the version who gets saved.
      So he realizes about the other world through the book and tries to kill Martha (the version that saves Jonas) and thinks he can end the Unknown and the cycle, but unknown 😅 to him, there is already a Martha who didn't save him, and kills his other reality Jonas and lives on to become Eva.... That's why he is confused that Eva still remains after he kills alt-Martha.... This is what Claudia meant when she said that Adam doesn't know to play the game, and Eva was a step ahead and was using the split of reality to her advantage!!!
      Phew! Hope that helps!

      I think I'm taking a quick break from Dark the next couple of days to work on another Better Call Saul-related video, but since a few folks mentioned it, I'll likely tackle this Claudia video next. Quick note on Claudia though - I agree that she split herself. In the final episode, when she tells Adam about the "loophole", she says that she used it too so she could be here now talking to Adam. This is in reply to Adam being surprised to see her alive. So I think it's a pretty safe bet that she did split so she could be killed by Noah (thus fulfilling the cycle) and approach Adam to reveal the true origin.

    Could you explain why you think there are two versions of old Claudia, as you say at the end? I believe the last episode shows that Old claudia is about to go visit Egon in 1953, since her younger self tells her to apologise. My understanding was that Claudia first tells Adam how to save everything, then goes back to 1953, and then gets killed, so I assumed that this only happened once (and actually everything in the series only happens once, only that characters perceive it as repeating itself).

      I’ve actually changed my mind on this point. Claudia has a line in the final episode where she tells Adam that like Eva, she used the loophole as well. Since “using the loophole” meant splitting Jonas and Martha in two, I assumed it meant the same for Claudia. However, going through the timeline, i no longer think that’s the case. I’m actually working on a detailed Claudia timeline video today and prepping my notes yesterday is how I realized the “splitting Claudia” theory doesn’t really seem to work.

      My theory of everything happening once doesn't make full sense with the characters disintegrating at the end... It would if only Martha and Jonas did, but when Jonas/Adam in the 1900 and middle-age-Martha/Eva disintegrate, that means they don't become their future selves, so it probably menas that there are several cycles.

    This is my alternative view:
    During an apocalypse, a new reality (space-time / timeline) can be generated by the mind of a time-traveller. After the apocalypse, the new reality and the original reality will merge together and share the same space-time.
    4:41 The space-time on the left handside was created by Martha's mind while the space-time on the right handside was created by Bartosz. Bartosz, Martha and Adam could only see what created by their mind during the apocalypse. Jonas only thought about to fix it right in future. He didn't create a new reality when Martha of his world died.

    - Martha from the second world who is now aware of everything, but is saved by Jonas before she diverges into two realities. She travels with Jonas to the third world (origin world) and fixes the loop. She and Jonas disappear from existence, alongside many other characters.

The other Martha who saves Jonas due to older Magnus and Franziska (sent by Adam) is the one who goes to Adams world in 1888 to meet the Jonas she didn't save, give him the Cesium and gets killed by him later in 2053
      The version of Jonas, who isn't saved by Martha is the one who goes to basement in his home, he isn't the one saved and taken to Martha's world where he is killed.... Throughout season 3, Eva's world is always displayed as a mirror image so everything on the screen is flipped. For example, I noticed it especially with Jonas' home (Martha's home in the alternate world) where you can see the stairs are on the opposite side of the screen. So, whenever Martha travels between worlds, you can see the scrape on her cheek switch from one side to the other. Jonas' face would also be mirrored but it's less noticeable since he doesn't have a prominent mark like Martha's (though you can notice the trio's lip scar mirrored when they travel between worlds as well). I think this effect is just meant to subtly add to the feeling of being in a different world + it gives viewers one more logistical way to track which world they're in.

  • @andrewstolzmann2663

    Mostly right, but no, Claudia didn't require the same loophole to do the things she did. She basically starts working backwards through time, setting things up as she liked, until she sets up her own death to Noah in the 50s. She merely convinces Adam of the origin world's existence before she later gets killed...in the past. But, I can't be certain that's the case, because...
    What's interesting to me about the two Jonases and Marthas is that it really shouldn't stop at just the two of them, right? There should be two whole new universes created at that point (and eventually even THREE when Adam goes back and tell Jonas about the origin world). One that still has a Jonas in it after the apocalypse, and one that does not. This was never really fleshed out... And, hmm. How is it, exactly, that Jonas and Martha are able to save the Tannhaus family in the origin world, if they are then erased from existance? Who prevents them from dying? You'd have to assume someone else goes back in time (presumably in the branch we didn't get to see much of), and when Jonas and Martha don't exist this time, the Tannhaus' crash (the clockmaker actually even says someone RAN THEM OFF THE ROAD) setting off the loop again, eventually culminating with Jonas and Martha saving them...again. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense. There can't really be an origin point for infinite loops. Its a paradox that the clockmaker mentions in season 2, explicitly.

    • @OneTakeVids
      @OneTakeVids  4 роки тому +1

      There's a lot in your comment so forgive me for being a bit long winded! But anyway, here are my thoughts:
      My read on Claudia was initially the same as yours and actually, the official Dark guide on Netflix seems to agree with that read (i.e., that the Claudia who dies is the same Claudia that meets with Adam... she just meets with Adam "before" traveling to her death at Noah's hands). However, I think this is an inaccuracy in the guide. In her conversation with Adam in the finale, she explicitly says she used the same loophole that Eva uses so she could talk to Adam now. This was also in the context of Adam being surprised she is alive after he had her killed. Watching that scene, it's hard for me to read it any way other than "Like Martha, there are now two Claudia's... one who is killed by Noah and one who is here talking to you". This would be further backed up by her explanation that cause and effect is only broken in that moment during the apocalypse. So, if Claudia were deviating from the cycle (and talking to Adam, according to her is a deviation), she must have done so in the moment time stands still. From Jonas and Martha, it appears that any time you deviate in that moment, it has the splitting effect. So, I'm definitely open to alternative explanations but my current read is that Claudia does get split.
      Regarding the additional universes created, I wouldn't necessarily think of them as entirely new universes. Tannhaus explains the "overlapping realities" at the beginning of episode 7 with the Schrodinger's Cat thought experiment. His explanation is played over a split screen of the two Marthas going two different directions. With Schrodinger's Cat, the cat exists in two simultaneous states: dead and alive. These can be thought of as "overlapping realities" existing in the same space. I wouldn't necessarily think of that as two new universes. So, the dead Jonas and living Jonas can both physically exist in the space of the two worlds we witness (i.e., Eva and Adam's worlds). So, I agree that Adam's intervention does create a "third" reality but my thinking is they all exist in the same physical space "overlapping" (just as the living and dead cat exist in the same box).
      Ultimately, regarding Jonas and Martha saving Tannhaus' family, it is a sort of paradox but I think they get away with it in Dark by using the "loophole". How can Jonas and Martha save Tannhaus' family if they don't exist? Well one iteration of Jonas and Martha did temporarily spring into existence and save his family thanks to the loophole. In the moment time stood still, "the rules of cause and effect" breakdown... so Jonas and Martha, can physically impact the origin world and simultaneously wipe themselves from existence. It's a bit hand wavy but I think the vague explanation of "causes and effect" breaking down allows for this sort of thing.

      @@OneTakeVids Thanks for the responce. Yeah, I'll conceed that there isn't really a way for us to tell if there are two Claudias or just the one jumping all around time, or which is from where. Now, why should Adam be surprised is weird no matter the reason. Its time travel. People you saw die do things all the time, most especially Claudia. I think its just that it wasn't in the book. That's what was surprising to him. This IS the end of the alternate-worlds loop, and is "new" to this almost-infinite loop that Claudia and Eve and Adam have been crawling toward. I didn't remember her explicitly saying she used the pause is time to talk with Adam at that point, but if she did...then yeah, maybe this IS a different Claudia than the one that eventually gets a shotgun in the 50s.
      But I'm saying that there should be two Claudias regardless. It doesn't make any sense that ONLY two Marthas and Jonases are created when Martha either does or doesn't "rescue" Jonas. For instance, there is a Bartaz that either does or doesn't convince Martha to not enter the house where Jonas is. It applies to everyone. There is a post-apocalypse world with Jonas in it, and another without, as he gets brought to Eve's side and eventually is murdered. Yes, Schodinger's cat applies. But the cat isn't just Jonas and Martha. Its an entire world. What you haven't touched on is...which "Schodinger World" versions are brought to the origin world. Think about it. The Martha is the Martha that did not go into the house to save Jonas, and eventually becomes Eve. ...but what Jonas is it? Its not the Jonas that would eventually get killed in Eve's world, because he isn't spirited away by Martha. Is it the Jonas that would have otherwise run into the basement and survived the apocolypse? Well, if it is, he's influenced by the Adam from the other version of the box! He just murdered Martha a second time, after all: the Martha that DID give the sphere to Jonas. So really, three Marthas and Jonases. Pretty wild.
      Now in your other video about the finale you dismiss the weird shiny bridge scene as a mystical weird thing that happened. Well, yeah, and if it wasn't for Martha later saying she remembered seeing Jonas in her closet, I'd maybe agree with you, but I'm giving the writers the benefit of the doubt. That Martha can remember that occurance really heavily implies these actions are ALSO a part of a loop. This has happened before (not as many times as all of the other events we've watched over the past 3 seasons, but still an infinite loop). Afterall, if this only happens once, the Tannhaus family is rescued from a car crash by two dream people. That doesn't really make sense. That crash HAS to have happened at some point in order for it to be, eventually, prevented. There are loops upon loops. An inner loop that we viewed in the first 27 episodes, and an outer loop that brings the inner loop in and out of existance as the Tannhaus's either crash, or are eventually saved by Jonas/Martha.

    I have a doubt, so if the Jonas who was rescued by Martha, who was working for Adam, eventually dies. So, Adam is the Jonas who was not rescued by Martha, then why does he send Martha to rescue him. We all know that he wants the cycle to go as it is, until the very end. If he was never saved by Martha and he doesn't know about the concept of overlapping realities (which is the point of last episode), why would he send her to save him and bring him to his world.
    I also think that the point of alt Martha killing one Jonas is so that Adam doesn't find out about two Jonases and hence the split. So, is this a loophole in the show?

      Actually this video is incorrect, Adam isn't the one who sends Martha back to save Jonas. Eve sends Martha to save Jonas.
      Remember the scene where young Jonas is killed by gun shot? There is a scarred Martha who commits the killing, and the other Martha who came with him who looks on in shock. The Martha who looks on in shock is later sent back by Eve to save Jonas from the apocalypse.

      Adam/Jonas knows about the split timeline because Martha travels back to 1888 and tells them about it. Adam orders Magnus and Francesca to recruit alt Martha, who is already pregnant with the unknown, to save Jonas so she can bring him to the alt world to meet her younger self so she could conceive the unknown. After she brings Jonas to the alt world, Martha goes back to 1888 (original timeline) so she can tell them Jonas about the other world and give them the cesium from her orb (in which Jonas uses to complete his time machine and transforms into Adam about 33 years later) She then travels to 2053 and Adam kills her and the unborn unknown. This is what always needed to happen in this time line.

      Further, if Adam is intent on destroying the Unknown, he would never have sent Martha to save Jonas, because Martha saving Jonas is exactly what leads to Jonas impregnating Martha and the Unknown being created.
      If you still think Adam knows about the split time-line, look at Season 3 Episode 8 at around the 20:35 mark. That proves beyond a doubt that *Adam does not know about the split timeline*.

    the reasons adam sends martha to save one jonas when adam is the other jonas: jonas needs to be alive to father the unknown in order for adam to kill it, and martha needs to give stranger!jonas the caesium in 1888. adam therefore instructs her to fulfill both of these things before coming back to him in 2053 where he can kill her.

       @Anony Moose you make a good point about adam not knowing about the time-stop, but i think that may be oversight on the writers' part (blasphemy i know).
      after jonas' death, martha goes home, cuts her hair, goes to bartosz, and then gets picked up by magnus and franziska. she has no interactions with eva between jonas' death and that point (iirc she doesn't have a time machine of her own at that stage). we don't see when magnus & franziska take her but they definitely work for adam. martha then arrives without them in jonas' world at the moment of the time-stop split. bartosz arriving is eva's input to the situation, creating the double versions (bartosz is definitely working for eva, like his future self). the martha who is not interrupted by bartosz (s2 finale martha) is still operating under the (false) promise that adam gave her off-screen. we don't see it happen but we hear in 3.6 when martha is captive that adam promised her "that there would be a way to change everything, so the apocalypse won't happen".
      i don't have a good explanation for adam not realising there must be two jonases tho, other than the writers getting a wire crossed :(

      All scenes in the alternate world are actually displayed to us as a mirror image, meaning everything on screen is flipped. For example, when Jonas goes to Martha’s world and visits what should be his home. The home is near identical to the one on his world, but to us, it looks like the stairs are on the opposite side of the screen. So, a side effect of this is you’ll notice Martha’s scratch under her eye for example flip from one side of her face to the other depending on which world she’s in. You’ll notice the same with the Trio when they move between worlds.

      I'll try to explain based on my understanding! When Eva's world splits... it does not exactly split into two separate realities. It creates two OVERLAPPING realities. Meaning, there are now two Marthas and two Jonases because at the loophole moment... Martha both rescued Jonas and did not rescue Jonas. So, there are still just two worlds (not counting the origin world): Eva's world and Adam's world. However, now there are two Jonases and two Marthas that can travel between both these worlds. Hopefully that makes sense!

    Great video! 💓 If there is any more confusion regarding the motivations of different versions of Jonas and Martha in the third season, I hope the explanation below will sound satisfying!
    There is Martha in both the worlds, but Jonas originally is only in Adam's world.... So after the reality is split by Eva's action of sending Bartosz and stopping Martha, there are finally 2 versions of Jonas and 3 of Martha (including one Martha who was originally in Adam's world lying dead before Jonas as Adam shoots her before the splitting of realities happens)

      I believe that in season 3, with time travel technology now quite advanced, they are no longer restricted by the 33 year limitation. Think about season 2, when Jonas travels to the night before Mikkel’s suicide... this was not an increment of 33 (was slightly more than 33) but was allowed by Adam’s god particle. So, when I say the tech is now advanced enough now ... really I mean that Adam and Eva had the advanced tech already which they are now using and have Jonas / Martha use (Martha’s little time travel ball seems to be much more advanced that Jonas’ old time machine).
