You know, all three seasons were mapped out before they started work on 1, that’s why the story is completely interconnected, every episode relies on every other episode, it’s a nonlinear knot, that has no beginning or end. It’s incredible that the entire show only makes complete sense after you’ve seen, the entire show already. It’s utterly insane, this is the greatest show I’ve ever seen, it’s a completely unique experience, the pure genius of its multiple visual motifs, each one symbolic of a core theme, the red cord, the saint Christopher coin, the musical motifs, the three seasons, three worlds, three parts of the triquetra, also, fun fact, each episode of dark aired on Netflix on the day that it was set in the 2019 part of the 33 year concurrent timeline, I mean, this show is just perfection, how does it exist????

It's crazy to think how they planned it all out. Been rattling it round my brain the last week and I honestly have no idea. Crazy good. Can't wait to see what they do with their new show they are planning.

If this show was made by any other country than Germany/England.....it would’ve gone on for 10 seasons. Losing its focus and being bloated with filler episodes. This show was short, focused and everything about the show is an interwoven web in such a way that out shines just about every show that tries and fails where this show soars to unbelievable heights.

No, if it was produced by a tv station, it would been bloat as long as the figures are good for commercial exploitation. But since it is produced for Netflix with no commercial revenue necessary, the show could go as it was intended to.

The thing that not a lot of people mention is that the origin world influences the other two worlds and the one that has the most influence in my mind is Tannhaus wanting to bring his family back.
He can’t live with this grief and he wants them back so he does whatever it can to bring them back and in the process destroys everything, however this is a main inspiration for the other two worlds.
They constantly go back and try to save their loved ones because they can’t do anything without them and in the end it just leaves to more grief.
Love is the strongest force on earth, and the most brutal.

Tannhaus: *builds a time machine and it’s mission is to bring his family back
The way Tannhaus expected the machine to bring his family back: *Bring him back to 1974 and stop his son and daughter-in-law from getting in a car crash
What the machine actually did: *destroy his world make two new worlds apart of an overally complicated loop in an overally complicated timeline with an overally complicated family tree with an apocalypse that kills everyone in those worlds so one guy wants to stop it but one girl wants to keep it going forever but because of overally complicated quantum entanglement physics thingamigigs their younger selves go into a cave that has the power to time travel and they go to the original world where the machine was created and stop Tannhaus’s family from dying so he can live with them forever.

Dark has a lot more jokes than the one with Woller's eye but I get what you mean. It's not quite a laugh a minute deal. Btw if you meant that the only joke is in the dinner scene Wollers eye is actually definitely an ongoing bit. For example it was used for a gag during season 3 when we first see Woller in the alt world where he is first shown to have two eyes, but then we are shown he has lost an arm. It is played for amusement. Beyond that there's the unicorn tattoo that freaks out the cops in the 50s, there's the cellphone that freaks out young Tannhaus, there's Jonas' quip about Grandma and iPads while Martha tries to get all up close and personal, and there's Claudia violently mashing a touchscreen in the library. Also Mikkel does a dad joke "du bist cool" "Nich, ich bin Mikkel" which I think is another testament to the writers genius. The genius not being in the joke but it being a dad joke specifically.

Genuinely don't think I'll ever see a show like Dark again for quite some time. It's so clever, so precise, and despite its almost clinical attention to detail it still manages to tug on the heartstrings. The relief I felt at the end when Jonas and Martha were finally able to break the knot was bittersweet - I still choke up a little bit to the track 'if anything remains of us' from the soundtrack. For a show to be able to do both those things so well is incredibly rare, it really is a feat of great writing. Super excited to see whatever Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese come up with next!

  • @vickdisco

Not sure if Baran Bo Odar and Jantje Friese realized what they have created--- the perfect series. Dark is quite literally a masterpiece that I personally cannot move past. I've watched several other series since and none have come even close to the caliber of writing/acting of Dark. I really enjoyed your video, Cortex. If you loved the show as much as many of us do, could you make more about Dark? Perhaps an essay on the symbolism and connections with Greek mythology?....

Dark managed to do what most shows cant, stick the landing.
A masterful blend are despair and beauty,
A visual marvel, extremely complex, yet stays the course.
A show that begs to be discussed, interpreted, explored.
Thought provoking, mentally stimulating.... what more could one hope for?

I’d say my favourite is joint between season 2 and 3. The best In my opinion is season 2. Thought the storytelling was perfect. It’s so hard because I believe season 1 is one of the best first seasons of tv, so they are all great and difficult to rank at the same time.

    • @Thetopnoobpro
      @Thetopnoobpro 3 роки тому +1

I think season 2 is the best because at the end of season 1 when Jonas travels to 2052 you think that the show will be ruined but season 2 is an amazing expansion.
Season 2 builds the image or no free will, grief, sadness, desperation, and the endless loop of time travel while also making us question our own religious beliefs, and what we truly have control over.
Season 2 sets up what the show truly is about, in my opinion. I don’t know if it’s my favorite season, I think it is, but it is without a doubt the best.

As a scifi fan, and of time travel in particular, I've outgrown the cynicism of expecting shows which deal with these topics to offer answers to all the questions they pose; it's impossible to answer them, because time travel is impossible. And so Dark is, without question, my favorite show by far , and, dare I say, the most competently made. So much so that I'm in awe it even exists.
Having said this, however, I have a major beef with the show not even trying to explain the point of the bunker chair, and the kidnapping of the children, having invested so much effort in it, even making it the central plot point of the 1st season. I have no idea why Noah was kidnapping children, or putting them in that chair, or what the point of the entire thing is

    • @lenomnom

Well, season 3 reveals that the organization sic mundus was originally founded in the 1800s (? I believe) by a bunch of eccentric and rich men with the main purpose of building a time machine. That’s why Jonas is given the materials he needs and the abandoned clock factory by that old creepy man to do his experiments once they get stranded in the past. That man is a member of sic mundus. Jonas/Adam high jacks the organization for his own plans through the centuries, but they do continue with their original goal of building a time machine. Noah, who is very loyal to Adam and sic mundus, manipulates Helge to kidnap human guinea pigs to test out the chair time machine they’ve build. Unfortunately it’s trial and error, which is why so many die but we do see rips in time and space, so its doing something. And I’m not sure if it’s due to the experiments that have messed with time/space in the bunker that the people inside the bunker survive the apocalypse, or if that’s due to the simple fact that it IS a bunker and it offers enough protection. That’s all I can remember from the top of my head, but I hope it helps! The more I think about it, the more I feel the urge to rewatch everything again.

    • @esyphillis101
