Love my Fastpack 30. Took a risk and got mine 2nd hand, including 2 UD soft flasks, for a good price, even though they do a women's version. It's super comfortable and the pockets are great, though I also can't fit my phone in the zipped pocket. Useful for cards/cash/meds though. Only issue I've had (and seen others mention it in the Spine group) is the web edging at the bottom can cause chafing on my lower back. Fine with jackets on but eventually, if wearing lighter weight clothing, it rubs a bit. Not a game changer for me (lube helped, other things hurt more by that point), though will use some pre-emptive KT tape next time I use it for a long race in warm conditions. Mine has done many miles now and still going strong.
Brilliant review, thank you! I have now ordered one off the back of your review. I'm starting a new job next week and it is perfect run commute distance, so this should be perfect. If anyone is looking for one, the female fit one is currently £65 from Sport Pursuit!
Great review - thanks for sharing! I saw a few of these on the OMM 2023 and I am very tempted to get one. I was planning on getting an OMM sac but there are some features of the new designs I'm not keen on. However the Ultimate Direction pack looks just the ticket.
Such a versatile pack that Gary! 👌 I mainly use mine if I help out at a event with course marking. You can fit all the signage and wooden stakes and a mallet in perfectly 🤣 Also my partner uses it regularly throught the week when shes out and about with our 2 year old to carry all the extra gear for him. Nappies, toys, spare clothes and food etc 🤣 shout out to my buddies at Beta too! 😎🤘
Really good review. Started looking at these this morning as a replacement for my aged OMM Classic 25. I think you answered every question I had! Have subbed you as a result :-)
Great pack Gary, I've the older version in a 35lt but we sell this 30lt in the store I'm in. Love the colour of the pack, loads of top features all around, though the straps can be a little short for the larger user 🏃♂
Great review Gary, I'm thinking of getting the women's version for Spine Sprint. Like you say though also a great all-round option for run commutes etc so I think I'm convinced.
Thanks Gary, I’ve been looking at the UD and OMM fast packs, this has certainly helped with my decision. Soft flask pricing in general is shocking at the moment, not surprised to see UD are as bad as everyone else.
@@teaandtrails me neither but I'm in between them both. May I ask what max weight did you carry? if I lean towards the Ultimate Direction I then have the doubt if I should go with the 20 or the 30
was looking at the 40ltr for backpacking the pennine way as the front bottle holders would be great but ive watched a couple of videos & the stitching or construction wasn't strong enough.

That’s interesting to hear re lower back chaffing! Nothing so far 🤞🤞

Thanks 🙏🏻 It’s great! Hope you like it. Noticed quite a few Spine Runners had them on too.

Thanks Ben, yeah, I thought I’d hardly use it, but it goes everywhere 😀 👍🏻

Yeah, love it. People keep asking me if I’m entering the Spine 😂

Thanks, exactly the review I needed to decide between the 20 and 30.
Great! Pleased I could help 👍🏻

Thanks Stuart! Yeah, really annoying my flasks didn’t fit!! Apart from that I can’t really fault it 👍🏻
fantastic video! What made you go with this one instead of the OMM Phantom?
Thanks for watching. Never tried the OMM Phantom.

That’s interesting. So far so good with the 30ltr 🤞
Is it waterproof or just water-repelent? Thanks!
Water repellent 👍🏻
