That doesn't really narrow it down. And if they do track the people down to wherever they are now living, they're not going to find anything except an adult who chose to relocate without telling his friends and family. That's not illegal. It happens.

Absolutely! Amazing theatre experience for me and my buddy who went to see it and didn’t really know what it was about, but saw it had good reviews. The ending was supremely satisfying and in a way made this white boy feel proud to be black lol. I dunno, I probably sound super dumb, but it was very satisfying and fun to see with majority black audience and at the time not even really think about race. @AT-rr2xw Рік тому +11

As someone else said, there was another ending where Chris went to prison...or jail. It tested poorly, so we got this instead. I think that this is better, because many, like Ash and Hannah, started getting the impression by the end that the police would find him and he would never be able to explain why he killed a nice White family. So, of course the best case scenario would be him getting arrested. In this case, while it being a happy ending with the Black guy getting away, it subverted expectations by having the Black guy getting away.

This movie perfectly encapsulated modern racism. The character Rose is the best representative of this type of racism. Completely oblivious to her privilege and how she can freely talk back to the police meanwhile she promotes and understands equality yet still retains the deep stereotypical beliefs. The original ending of this movie was extremely dark, showing him getting arrested for killing an innocent family. Realistic but dark
And the way he beats the brother is not by brute strength, he outsmarts him. You brought up "genetics" but the point of the movie is that black people are not naturally faster or stronger, that's a stereotype.
Btw the word tattletale is still used in the USA even if it's an older word

    fact:
the original ending (which you can find on youtube) was actually that rod doesn’t show up, and chris gets arrested. rod visits chris in jail and tries to help chris with his case, but chris accepts that he’s going to go to prison, as he knows that’s how the system works, but he doesn’t care because he knows he stopped the armitage’s from doing their evil. jordan peele (the director) ended up going with this ending because of the rise in attention towards black treatment by law enforcement. he felt the movie needed a happy ending. i prefer the original purely due to its shock factor, and how that’s unfortunately more than likely how it would’ve gone down in the real world, but i do think both endings are amazing, hence why this is one of my favourite films ever, and probably my favourite horror ever.
    bonus:
there was a third ending that jordan peele drafted up, where the surgery was actually successful. rod manages to break in to the armitage house later that night and finds chris in the basement. however, chris (now in the sunken place, with the blind man in possession of his body) says “i assure you, i don’t know who you’re talking about”.
    crazy.

Clearly, there's a lot of little hidden clues & jokes in this movie. *Like "We keep a little piece of grandma in the kitchen" and then they turn on the light & the "maid" was just standing there; Also, how they couldn't bring themselves to let go of "the caretakers when the parents died". The father was telling the boyfriend the story about his relative losing to Jesse Owens and that "he almost got over it" like he was still alive & then the groundskeeper was obsessively running in the middle of the night, lol. Oh, the other hint was Rose's brother was obsessed with Judo & Wrestling & he used a rear choke hold/grapple to subdue "Logan" in the beginning of the movie. Damn, I keep on remembering stuff like when Grandma gets hit towards the end and he doesn't just drive away because of the guilt of him feeling responsible for his mother's death by a hit & run. But, the little side joke I really liked was that when he was tied to the chair in the basement and he had to pick cotton to save his life...well, that's just my kind of stuff. Whatever, Great Reactions tho.* God f'n Dammit, last thing! In typical hollywood fashion, this theatrical ending wasn't the true ending, kinda like Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. It should be on UA-cam & it gives the exact opposite feeling of this happy stuff. Ya gotta leave a movie feeling good for some reason. At least they didn't try that crap with Requiem for a Dream!

The symbolism of the cotton in the ears goes back to slavery days and how picking cotton saved his/their lives.
And also when rose was eating the cereal at the end, you notice she separated the coloured cheerios to the white ones.

Picking cotton did not save "their lives." It's a display of irony that something associated with the subjugation of black people ends up being the thing that saved him. It wasn't trying to frame picking cotton as a good thing for black people.

He actually works for his company Monkeypaw Productions. They went to Calhoon which is a school for early education through high school located in NYC. They parted ways after primary school but have since reconnected and my uncle now work for Mr. Peele’s company Monkeypaw Productions. I have never met Mr. Peele but my Dad knew him when he was a kid. Anyway just some cool fun facts about my family and are connection to the famous director and comedy sketch writer Jordan Peele.
