A few things some folks may or may not know which, hopefully, some may find interesting, or at least informative: Nearly all balisongs back in the 80s were made “Manila Style,” which is with the latch on the safe handle. My old Manila Folder from back then is configured that way. A friend of mine nearly sliced his finger off because he had one back then and had no idea that the Benchmade 51 Morpho I was carrying was rigged “Batangas Style,” with the latch on the bite handle, which is how nearly all balisongs today are rigged. The good thing about today’s balis is that you can swap the latch to either handle even on most cheap ones. A lot of younger flippers may wonder what the use was of putting the latch in Manila Style on the safe handle when they’re so used to seeing them rigged Batangas Style. I’ve heard a few reasons, but what a lot of people wanted back in the day was a knife with a blade that is deployed with the edge facing their opponent after a simple latch drop open. The other biggest reason I know of is, because the older balisongs’ latches weren’t spring loaded, they really flop around, and Batangas Style latches would often fall in front of the blade channel, preventing the knife from closing and dulling or even chipping the blade’s edge at that point. Keep in mind, not many people in the US were doing a lot of different balisong moves and tricks back in the 80s because we didn’t really know many. Some possible exceptions were a few military guys who got stationed in the Philippines and made friends with a local or two who were willing to show them. Also, some martial arts instructors back then did know at least the basic opening and closing moves, and maybe a few flashy ones they could teach you. At least, that was my experience back in the 80s with my Manila Folder - others may have had better luck back then.

My dad was born in the Philippines and his friend taught him basic openings when he was younger.Around 2-3months ago I asked him if I could get a trainer in which he said no but I eventually convinced him to get me one he said he’d get it on payday(the end of that month) which at the time was 2 weeks away. Aye. Just got a bear and sons so they don't fall apart like a trainer. I use them as a fidget tool while working. Weight might be off because the ones with holes in blade are trainers or so I've seen.
My thoughts exactly about falling apart or loose srews so my first buy is kershaw lucha, 6y ago when i was 12 i traded my friend his brass shitty balisong which was sick but ofc fell apart

Fiji Mav be careful with electrical tape, as it can really damage the blade/edge. Use painters tape if you have it
Never use electric tape is sometimes messes up the blade.

Can you help me? I want to get my brother a trainer balisong knife for Christmas because he has very recently started flipping. I am looking at getting him a 30 dollar curved knife because the straight knife he has is 7 dollars from amazon. What do you suggest I do?
30$... a 30$ knife isnt usually the best especially a trainer... but if i wrre to suggest... www.knifecenter.com/item/BC114TR/bear-son-114tr-5-butterfly-trainer-silver-vein-slotted-metal-handles this or:

I bought a trainer and it still did hurt at first but as you said you get use to it pretty fast
Ok so do all trainee knives have the holes? And then the live blades don’t?
I'm just starting and I got a curved knive and I'm confident but I did not get it delivered to me yet. I'm also elleven years old.

I’m sorry if this question is a little weird, I’ve been diagnosed with finding dory disease and I just forgot if I asked. Because I don’t think I remember I’d I did and if I didn’t who asked
Dunga Ree You actually did ask. You have Alzheimer’s.
@@patrickgd7583 what ever you say
That silver 1 you had with dragons is the 1 i have,, cost me 8 bucks from amazon,,,, I've had mine 2 weeks it's still going strong,,, how is yours holding up??
Ive been into flipping like this for almost three weeks now and everything you said was right except the knuckles hurting mine were red but never hurt, everyones different tho so it might just be me
H&S dragon knife any good
Is vornnex on brand
Can you do the fortback ( i made up that trick) it consists of a y2k followed by a half orbit
I think that a curved handle knifes makes some trick easier but some harder because its heavier than a straight handle knives
Is a cut knife good (the csgo ones) 😅
i bought my first knife yesterday (its a trainer) and i cant wait to learn trick XD
Oh crap I just started and I ordered a curved but a guess it’s fine right 😅
Just a question - how many knife you have? I'd like to know 🙂
i love how you didn't mention ccc under terminology, ya a beginner will definitely know what that means.
I'm not sure she even knows what ccc means. She says not to buy Chinese clones then proceeds to recommend buying a CCC instead.
Also channel and sandwich. She's not going to tell us what those terms are even tho this is a begginer video. Welcome to the community I guess.
I have a balisong comb does that count
My dad was born in the Philippines and his friend taught him basic openings when he was younger.Around 2-3months ago I asked him if I could get a trainer in which he said no but I eventually convinced him to get me one he said he’d get it on payday(the end of that month) which at the time was 2 weeks away. It’s been months and he’s completely forgot about it and he probably thinks I forgot about it too but I still think about it every day
James Logan Ask him again!
1. i luv ur vids
2. i watched your vids before i had a butterfly knife
Is megaknife and cutss good websites or do there knives break easily?
My 2nd balisong should arrive today
Im just a beginner and only have a balisong that my father bought me 3 years ago and it have some lose screw( still using it now for balisong tricks but its hard cause its heavy) where can i order balisong knife with good quality?
Aye. Just got a bear and sons so they don't fall apart like a trainer. I use them as a fidget tool while working. Weight might be off because the ones with holes in blade are trainers or so I've seen.
Would you say i am intermediate or a beginner if I can do choker fans, helix, and bt8b?
I tried ordering a live blade but in Oklahoma they are illegal so they wouldnt even let me order one
My thoughts exactly about falling apart or loose srews so my first buy is kershaw lucha, 6y ago when i was 12 i traded my friend his brass shitty balisong which was sick but ofc fell apart
