the cut was there from the start of the video, you can see the cut before he spins it at 0:04
I did too, ouch.

No
RIP HIS ARM
Got my first balisong an hour ago and my finger already looks like his arm
I had a trainer when I was young until I was 12 and I still am yet to nic myself for the last 13 years. I don’t kno about learning a move ur not certain about with a live blade just sounds like asking for cuts.
@@REKLAW-ART Big facts. Let alone your “first balisong” being live.
Personally, I flip just for fun and as a pseudo artform. Not interested in EDC or anytbing like that, and that’s why I’ve always used trainers and am not planning on “upgrading” to a live blade.
No disrespect to anyone that is into that, to each their own and I think it’s badass. Just not for me.
@@Liad_Hermelin I started with a trainer for about a year just casually flipping, I got to a point where its just easy mindless flipping, so I switched to a real blade which I use at work often(work at a gun store) opening boxes and such, but having a real blade also made me want to learn more difficult tricks, still haven't cut myself.. yet
I accidentally slit my wrist yesterday with one
What level is y2k and I got a dulled Bali song but not a trainer
Thank you Big Flips for all of the videos you make. It is really hard to find a good tutorial that covers everything on a move and doesn't go too fast. Your whole playlist has been a great guide for helping me learn how to use a butterfly knife! Hope to see more videos!
thanks so much for your comment! lots more videos are coming!

@National Socialist Filipino Worker's Party well if you want to go there, it is actually just for utility originally. It wasn’t supposed to be a weapon until they Philippines’ started inventing the “tricks” for intimidation in martial arts. But yeah, originally it was supposed to be a one handed operation utility knife.

This is an interesting component trick, It's basically just half of a basic open and half reverse open, so in the end you switch it twice so it ends up still open if you started open. If you want to use this trick as an open (start closed, end up with an open ice-pick grip), just add the second step from the basic open at the beginning (ie, flip the blade out, then flip it around again then continue with the rest of this trick).
Found this too advanced for me in your very helpful learning sequence. So practiced the hand positions without the twists and moved on. A few lessons later, I can get a twirl in the bottom swing and pretty poorly in the top. But it's finally making sense now and coming together. Also got a little bit of sequencing into other moves down now I'm understanding where certain motions land up handlewise (safe to bite, up to down). Thank you
Fr I think this is too advanced to be so early on in the beginner tricks playlist
If you master each trick before moving on, this is just an open cut off into a reverse open, you only are adding the knife flip
It's considered more advanced because of the fact that a greater understanding of pendulum physics is required (not consciously, necessarily). When you spin the knife, the handle should produce a pendulum-like effect; it should require little effort to both complete the spin and to return the handle to your hand.
It simply takes repetition for the brain to be able to understand this.
My partner gave me a trainer to play around with and I’m having so much fun with it. This trick is definitely one of me favorites to do! This is awesome!!
you still playing around?
Is it just me or is my balisong so heavy that when I do the second step, it slips out of my middle finger and my thumb?
I feel you I got something like that whenever I go to twist I mess up and it just slips out of my hand
Mines to light xd
You have to grip maybe just a bit stronger, its the exact same concept as pen spinning, hold it real loose and let gravity do the work for you, thats how you make it look like you hands are barely moving(at least for basic pen spinning) just dont grip it so loose that it ends up falling out of your hands.
If it's hard too open? It's probably because it's new
Mine just started flying across the room when it slipped
No cap. After practicing the most basic bali trick (open & close) I wanted some way to flip the opened bali upside down & self discovered this ice climber's trick all on own 😊
notice the deep cut on his arm. Even the best can fail sometimes
all the time bro is you arent getting cut you arent getting better!
I still remember the time i cut my thumb open
Daniel Recker sounds bad
Colin Da Boss i tried to fan with the bite handle and it chopped my knuckle.
i still remember the time i cut myself between my thumb and index finger, it was a deep and horrific cut. Never seen a more disgusting cut and i hate myself for even thinking about it now.
funny thing is, that cut wasn't from a balisong, i was cutting an apple when this happened LOL
Took me 10 minutes to practice over and over but finally got it. Muscle memory now boiz
holy shit 10 minutes??? what took you so long?

i'm still a little slow and rusty with this move but it took me 4 weeks after learning the basic opens to learn this, im so glad ive learned my first trick, it motivates me to learn more now that i can do more than just open and close the knife over and over.

1:10 I love how he just starts showing some amazing moves while speaking super casually like it’s nothing 😭
i have seen over 20 tutorials of this but i cannot find a video where they actually do this with an icepick
its a joke
Yep, I just learned how he cut himself. The upside down reversal. We're scared buddies now. 😂
Thanks, just got my first butterly and started learning thanks to you!
instructions unclear i am now waiting for a support helicopter to pick me up on this danm mountain
I had accidentally came across a open and close with this trick. As I was practicing this trick, i accidentally forgot to do the reverse at the end, and it became closed. I did the opposite starting with it closed, and I found a cool way to open it with an ice pick grip
nice one troy
Have you noticed how he had cut his arm and it was still pleading when he did the first trick the Ice pick , his calm and smooth relationship with the knife '' just overwhelmes me 😊:).
"she bites me sometimes, but we make it work"
ice climber here, no one does that hahah but it looks soo cool. here to refresh old skills!
dude you're amazing at flipping. also that cut on the arm was brutal, looked deep.
Thanks dude! yeah wrist cuts are always gnarly cause of veins.
Also I forgot to say, You're probably my favorite teacher for flipping. I'm easily able to do all the tricks you show.
The hardest part of this (for me) is the "sweeping motion" because you need to pinch tight enough that the knife doesn't fly out of your hand, but it needs to be loose enough that the knife can actually rotate
my sweaty ass hands sending the balisong flying every time i attempt to do that
Practice makes perfect ngl by the beginning of the video I already learned to do the opening and reverse opening now this? Is pretty cool
Lol I watched these videos at work and ordered my balisong and it arrived a couple days ago. I thought I’d be able to do these tricks after a few videos, but nah haha. These pro flippers make it look so easy.
I been playing around with butterfly knife for 2 days and I learned how to spin it around my fingers and then I found this tutorial vids and ngl these are really good and easy to learn and follow, thx Big Flips for these tutorial.
0:12 we love the dedication 😂
Really enjoying your videos man, you really do explain things the best 👍
I mastered it within 1 hour and it looks so cool :D
just starting to learn basic tricks again because i always get into butterfly knifes then go out but i always come back to this guy and i always wonder why it seems so different when i do it and just now i have realized it is because i am left handed and he is right handed

dude i freaking did it on my first time trying it just after looking at the slowmotion!!!!

im so glad i have a trainer because i wouldve just lost my entire right hand and a 2 inch hole in my right leg
These tutorial are really helpful I just got mine and this is helping a lot thanks
I learn this shit first before the fan
good! thanks for watching!
I did too. I'm slowly getting the fan down but the trainer I'm using has crappy handles on it which can suck
This is probably one of my favorite looking tricks but is there any other tricks you recommend that look good but are easy too?
if you watch my video on the basic transfer loop that one is one of my faves. transfers in general are easy and look awesome. it does take a bit to get your offhand into it tho
Big Flips rip to learning transfers for Me in the foreseeable future, just traumatized my median nerve in my wrist on my left arm the other day and now I don’t feel anything in my left thumb, index and middle finger...
Still love watching them to learn for later when I regain and feeling in my left hand tho.
@@milescook670 you lost your fingers sense?
These videos are amazing I thank you for your teaching big flips
First let me say I respect your technique! I like the Ice Pick flip and being able to use both the basic and opposite opening clips. I have to say though , next time you make a vid make sure you are not cut and bleeding on your arm ! This could be the reason for the thumbs down reviews! I am just an old basic flipper yet hope you consider the comment!???? Thanks again , Mark

bro, those are great videos. keep doing it, now im yours new subcriber
thanks dude! i plan on it :)
Nice cut
Bro these tutorials are so hard for me idk how people say it’s easy
Pretty cool looking and, for me atleast, really easy to learn if youve already mastered the basic open and reverse open
If you do the ice pick then the zipper it looks pretty cool
The most fun part of these is looking for the cuts
in the video or on his arm?
I just can't do this one
go slow and repeat each move to build muscle memory, it should get easier from there, and ive just realized this comment was posted 9 months ago
Spencer56, I’ll take your advice thank you. I appreciate the help I got my Balisong yesterday and I’ve gotten really good at the tricks in the first 4 videos but this one is difficult. I’m just realizing this is from over a year ago.
learnt it in 5min .. can do it everytime now next day lol
perfect dude that's what I like to hear!
Is it ok if i used the middle and ring finger to flip it downwards?
The nonsense story about the ice climbers carving figures in ice was so fun
Learn it in about 3 minutes amazing tutorial!!
good job mz guy, a lot of good
love the knick on the wrist....bank..banjo,,,,practice results...!

thanks dude!
I just recently bought this bench made and omg is it sharp so pleaseee get a practice one too, also buy loctite with it trust me. Trust me
That cut is fresh
Is it just me or this guy is a genius
you're the reason i got into butterfly knives :p
You go very fast
i remember a while back when learning another ice pick opener i kept doing this instead even if i hadn't practiced it.
i dont have any knife but i will...and i saw your video that make me feel like im a pro even without touching the knife
Nasty cut man!
Hey, I recently started flipping, I'm trying to learn this trick and I'm practising it but how do you turn the handle so smoothly so it all fits? At 0:27
Hey! the smoothness just comes with a lot of practice. it wont be that smooth when it starts, what it is is its just a twist with my thumb and middle finger but if you do it at the exact right time in the swing the momentum transfers perfectly and carries it back up.hard to teach but if you do this move 1000 times you will get it! start slow!
Big Flips ok, thanks for the help :)
what a cool trick man
What trick was that, you showed after saying the icepick spin is one of your fovourite tricks?
I noticed it too!
Gnarly cut dude
it was pretty easy for me after i got the way i was suppose to drop it for the basic opening
I have a derivative of this trick to thank for a scar on my pinkie finger along with some nerve damage. Kinda stopped flipping after that, might need to invest in some tape or something and restart at some point here.
0:13 I see you cut ur arm by accident. Was it from flipping?
Love your vids!! Keep it up man and I also subbed👍👍👍
much appreciated bro! welcome and thanks for watching!
hey man big fan of your tutorials. do you have any tips on where to buy knives?
actual knife stores are easy. bladehq and knifecenter .Com are good too
Or Elemental knives they have all types (there CS:GO Styled so there pretty cheap but nice skins)
I got mine from amazon and it’s actually a pretty good knife
its all very easy to me but idk why my hand hurts a lot when im doing basic reverse open. I can do it in one way but not the one that u showed. If its normal or its because of my hand?
You did it differently in the start than at the end
So I wanne buy a Butterfly trainer and the blade is completely round. Is it important which side then?
0:04 I can see the cut on your arm
that's so BADASS !!!
THANKS MAN !!!
