You pointed to what you said was Bradford Cathedral, just before you went into Wetherspoons. In fact it was Bradford City Hall lit up. Bradford Cathedral was just behind The Corn Dolly pub. Up the hill.

Used to work opposite the Corn Dolly in Abbey National / Santander, so I remember the pub well - it hasn't changed since I last drank there in '06.

Nothing much has changed in the 55 years since I emigrated from Bradford. It was always dead at night, but had a few lively pubs, clubs and disco’s but for a good night out we used to travel to Leeds, Halifax, Bingley and Ilkley. But after I gained my Students Union Card, the university Union bar, Macs and the Manville were unbeatable. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Uriah Heap, Free. Bradford really rocked with Tetley’s Bitter on tap.

City Vaults is my favourite pub in Bradford, went to the opening night back in 1994 - it used to be a bank i believe.

Would suggest the following for a return visit:
    Ones I've been to:
The City Gent, North Parade (amazing ceiling)
Al's Dive Bar/Al's Juke Bar, Duke Street (small indie bars, 2nd probably closed)
The Underground, Duke Street (rock music venue)
The Castle, Grattan Road (pub with real ale and open mic)
1 in 12 Club, Albion Street (anarchist club and music venue)
The Sun, Sunbridge Road (LGBT+ pub, open late)
The Shoulder of Mutton, Kirkgate (sells sam smiths, large beer garden)
Jacob's Well, Nelson Street/Hall Ings (oldest pub in Bradford, real ale etc.)
Ones I haven't but seem decent:
    Nightrain, Queensgate (rock music venue)
BrewDog, Great Horton Road (have been in previous iteration)
The Harp of Erin, Westend Street (long standing Irish Pub)
The Fighting Cock, Preston Street (multi-CAMRA award winning pub in inner city, has food)

I've never been in The Underground, however I do know that...
Its manager, or one of its managers is a rapper and rap music deejay...
And that The Underground has hosted countless Bradford rappers, from Bassline rappers like Marky B, Grime rappers like Blazer Boccle, and Hip Hop rappers like Lunar C.
Therefore I've always thought of The Underground as an urban music venue.
It's also featured in Trip Hazard (2021-present) series 2 episode 3 (which was available on UA-cam until recently), where that rapper/deejay/manager is interviewed.

*Bradford City Centre's* nightlife, has been ruined entirely by 1 man...
*Aaron Mellor* the *Manchester* born owner of *Tokyo Industries.*
He owns around 5 or 6 nightclubs, and 2 shops on or around *Morley Street,* which have spent most of the last 15 years closed.
Because of those clubs being closed, all the neighbouring clubs started to close one after another around 5-8 years ago.
At least four of those many neighbouring clubs will never be clubs again, as one is now a restaurant, and the other three are now a massive church.
*Aaron Mellor* has also ruined the other *Yorkshire* clubs he owns, yet the clubs he owns around his offices in *Watford* and *Greater London* in general, *Newcastle* and *Tyne and Wear* in general, and his hometown of *Manchester* and *Greater Manchester* in general seem to be doing fine...
However he's not updated any of his websites or social media pages in around 8 years, so it's hard to tell how many are still open.
Other town centres of *Bradford* like *Bingley, Shipley, Baildon, Ilkley, Keighley* etc are apparently decent for nightlife however.

@@thegreatbritishpubcrawl I've been for a night out in Bingley once, around 10 years ago for the first time in years, and it was good, although they're mainly bars with dancefloors a bit like Yate's, rather than actual nightclubs.
My 2 best mates now have kids, so went home between 12am and 2am, so have turned boring.
Me and my best mate from school, used to stay out until 4am minimum, or 6am if anywhere was open...
However as I it was the first time I had been out in years, I decided to stay out by myself, in one of the large pubs with a dancefloor on the main street, which didn't close until around 6am. I was partying on the dancefloor by myself, having fun.
If I remember correctly, it was the Midland Hotel building, which is named Mavericks 80s Lounge today.
I then decided to walk as far as Saltaire, before giving up and deciding to get a taxi the rest of the way home.
I've also been out a few times in Shipley in the past. I can't remember anything about those nights other than going to the Wetherspoons, and some pubs, so it can't have been that good, although on one of those few occasions...
I do remember randomly going to Shipley once after a night out in Halifax.
I can't remember why, but I suspect it's because everywhere had closed, or we couldn't get into Barbarellas or Tube (which were the 2 Halifax clubs we knew of which were open until 6am), and someone recommended a nightclub in Shipley which was open until 6am minimum, although I seem to remember it was open until 9am.
      Where was it?
I have no idea. All I remember about it, is that it was upstairs in a building which was on a street corner, and unusually for nightclubs, all the staff were Chinese, and mainly women.

*Leeds* does not have double the population.
*Leeds* has a population of 798,786 in an area of 213 square miles.
*Bradford* has a population of 542,128 in an area of 141 square miles.

@@heiltd1286 *Halifax* used to be even better than it is today.
*The Acca* as seen in around 5 film and TV productions was excellent when the usual old deejay was on, but rubbish when the young deejay was on, as the young deejay always played very old and rubbish songs.
You would've thought it would've been the other way around.
I'm not sure if either of them are still there, however I suspect even if they aren't there will be the usual classics being played, which get played every week.

2:40 *Bassline* was created from *Garage* in late 90s *Yorkshire* where it's still big in *Yorkshire,* the *West Midlands* and *The North* in general today.
*Grime* was created from *Garage* in late 90s *Greater London.*
Both are a completely different sound today.
*Bad Boy Chiller Crew, Fraz & Molegrip, YA, Marky B, Rayner, MC Chippy, MC Innes, MC Scorpz, MC Pigeon, Big Parrot, TrussTee, BOV, B2 (JinThai & Wirez), K13, Fadez, Kingz365, M.87, S Dog* etc and occasionally rappers like *Dorzi* and *Blazer Boccle* are modern *Bradford Bassline* artists. Basically every rapper you see on newer *Bradford* channels like *Sluggy Beats, TGT Records, Just The Goo, TEN10 TV* and *Collective TV.*
9:26 *The Corn Dolly* is one of the main pubs used by *Bradford City* supporters on match day. The others are:
1 - *The Fighting Cock* which is around 1.3 to 1.5 miles West of *The Corn Dolly* just off *Thornton Road* around 1000 metres from *City Park.*
2 - *The Latvian Club* a mansion 2 streets away from *Valley Parade Stadium* on *Clifton Villas.*
3 - The 2-4 pubs on *Lumb Lane* (the former prostitute location), however most of them are closed now, so people mainly stick to *North Parade.*
10:35 The private but open street around the back of *Napoleons Casino,* and some of the surrounding streets, have been used in around 5-10 productions which include *The Crown* (2016-2023), *The Duke* (2020), *Commando 3* (2019), *Funny Cow* (2017), *Wall of Tyranny* (1988) etc (and others I've forgotten), and a few music videos most of which I've also forgotten, although I do know that *Desperado* by *Lunar C* is one of them.
10:59 halfway up there on the right hand side is *The Bradford Club,* a private members club which has been used in *The Great Train Robbery* (2013), *The ABC Murders* (2018), and *Peaky Blinders* (2013-2022), although I can't work out what *Peaky Blinders* used it for. *The Wool Exchange* behind you at 11:06 has also been used around 5-10 times, mainly in older films, however the newest it was used for is *Ali & Ava* (2021).
12:40 That's *Bradford City Hall* (not the Cathedral which is nearer to The Corn Dolly), which has been used in at least 50 film and TV productions.
Which productions used it the most? Probably, *Blow Dry, Spooks Code 9, Room at the Top, Peaky Blinders, Welcome 2 Karachi, The Great Train Robbery, Official Secrets, Commando 3,* and *The Duke.*
What productions used it most recently? Probably, *Bodies, Bank of Dave* and *Emmerdale* who use it for court and prison scenes 90% of the time.
12:55 *Sunbridge Wells* which reopened in 2015 after decades of being closed, contains a bar which used to be owned by *Shirley Crabtree* aka the wrestler *Big Daddy.* Big name acts like *The Beatles* and *Jimi Hendrix* played secret gigs there.
13:08 is just 1 of 4 entrances, 2 of which are just around the other 2 corners.
16:00 Ivegate which you're stood on right now, used to be full of pubs, bars, clubs, jewellers and travel agents (although not my type of clubs, as they were mainly Rock/Metal type places), but like with most of the pubs, bars and clubs in the city centre, they've all closed. Today its full of phone shops, like some other streets in the city centre.
17:57 I faintly remember it being a *Yates'* however to me, I mainly know it as a *Rios* (Rock/Metal nightclub). The main *Yates'* was around 100 metres East on the other side of Kirkgate, on the adjacent street called Queensgate. I've been in that club maybe once or twice around 15 years ago, when it played *Bassline.*
20:44 the gap between *Wetherspoons* and *Starbucks* is where you'll find the 4th entrance out of 4 to *Sunbridge Wells.* It's also where *Joanne Froggatt* was shot and killed in *Spooks Code 9* (2008). Even though that *Wetherspoons* has always been owned by *JD Wetherspoon,* it used to be part of their sub-brand *Lloyds No1 Bar,* a bit like *Mars* with their *Galaxy* sub-brand, while the actual *Wetherspoons* used to be on *Morley Street.* I didn't even realise they had dropped the *Lloyds No1 Bar* bit from their name.
