first half of the video is my favorite spoiler stuff in the game. second half of the video is me being an insufferable petty nerd. also if you missed my other video - this is where I just talk about non-spoiler stuff I really loved: ua-cam.com/video/jLs8fDX-8qw/v-deo.html
Lets be honest Wesker is definitely going to climb out of that volcano within the next 5 years and everyone will perfectly happy with no explanation .Also appreciate that Lore appreciation not enough online.
For me I questioned right away when he reattached his hand. Not that RE is realistic but I thought wait I thought he couldn't do that anymore. But yeah some comments like these take on a different meaning now. Same if you go back and play RE7.
Played the whole game in ome sitting with three friends, lights out and surround sound cranked. As three thirty year old men I'm not ashamed to admit that we screamed like children when the baby monster came down that hall....
This video sums it up what i want to say..i even was thinking to make a video similar to this but this guy was first. video title with URL *Resident Evil Village Sucks - Do Not Buy Resident Evil Village !* ua-cam.com/video/VckQ8P4Tap4/v-deo.html
What I loved so much was the fact that they treated The Duke like an deity. When Ethan asks who, or what he was. He didn't have an answer. Much like how the RE4 merchant was never explained he just vibed out. He existed. The Duke played such a vital role in the game, they have record of him trading with the people of the village, yet we still don't know who or what he was. He was easily one of my favorite parts. This game was just incredible.
I started thinking about the fact that Duke knows the Merchant and I came to the conclusion that it probably exists an inner circle of biologically modified people that knows each other, the Merchant is clearly a Ganado of some kind and the Duke could be anything for all we know
@@TomSir79 Just recently I went through Bayonetta several times and Rodin makes a similar reference, couldn't believe they did it in RE8, too, so well executed :D
@@jeffn4836 have seen the comparisons and they look som what similar, atlest the probeller engine dude but its not that hard to come up with that designe for a monster, even if they took insperation from the movie so what? are the elvs or orcs in wow stolen from lord of the rings? or the mold monsters in RE7 stolen from prey? and where did prey steal the idea from? i mean inspiration is taken from all things nothing is 100% original. kinda rich that the guy acusing the RE8 team of stealing his ideas are hardly original with the titel Frankenstein's army. na it's just a small time guy not abel to handle that som one did somthing better then he did it. like the guy that wrote the Witcher books.
@@Jagatrip1 Kind of sad that Capcom was so creatively bankrupt they had to steal from such a small time guy, huh? The machines were the worst part of the game. It’s like they watched that film and added that whole section after the fact. Mech shit needs to stay out of RE. It’s biological horror. Leave the techno horror for a differ game.
I finished RE8 this morning and it made me tear up a little. I didn’t like Ethan in RE7 then he really grew on me just to die a heartbreaking death. It didn’t ruin the game for me though I’d still rate it a 9.5/10 P.S Donna Beneviento is prettiest lady of RE8 IMO
What was heartbreaking for me was what Evelyn did to the Baker Family in RE7. Especially in the 'Mold Dream Sequence' where Jack is talking and telling you what happened.
Donna was pretty, but not for nothing Mother Miranda was fucking hotttttt Everyone is lusting after lady D while I'm over here like "yeah I'm good with the supermodel with crow wings, thanks" ...... What the fuck is wrong with me 😂
About time someone is giving credit to my man Ethan Winters. The man just wants his family in tact and he’s kicking ass and taking names while he does it! Love the guy and he will be missed. His one liners brought me back to old campy B movie that I love so much.
Kicking ass and taking names? The same guy who was constantly beat, the same guy who had his hand chopped off twice now. Hand bit off and his heart ripped out. Yeah someone kicking ass and it ain’t Ethan. He’s a dry character I didn’t give a shit about Ethan I hate him and I hate Mia and their baby was ugly. Fuck Ethan Winters.
Nah Ethan is a idiot and it got very annoying. It could have been the voice actor saying the lines badly but there's so many moments like when his wife is shot right in front of him and his reaction is "Chris..... What the hell!?" And when he gets chucked into the dead villagers he goes "A dead body?" then "Wait there's more?". He just doesn't react like the everyman should to the horrific predicament he's in. I dunno he just seemed too disconnected from the horror and his surroundings and when he did show some "character" it was pretty cringe. It's like the devs were stuck between giving him character and making him an empty vessel so the player would experience things more.
@@Ben-fk9ey I hated Ethan in re7 but I enjoyed him a lot more in village. I like the fact they killed him off. Thats just what the game needed . I'm glad he wasn't to good of a characters Otherwise the the internet would want him killed and replaced with a body building girl and her trans sidekick ! Capcom did right by us as far as I'm concerned
that baby monsters look and sound it makes will forever haunt my nightmares, first time i ran into that i literally screamed fuck that and paused the game.
Being as she is from Ethan who was infected by Eveline’s mold, it is reasonable to assume she may have aged rapidly. However, Ethan was, “cured,” from the Eveline part of the mold. Maybe that erased that side effect. They can do anything. Side note, Mia was totally okay doing the deed with a molded creature? 🤣 Freaky!
@@starscythe2099 Mia is also accustomed to the mold for the most part until she got vaccinated. I see what you mean. The couple had a thing for mold lol
The cutscene with Eveline psychologically terrorizing Ethan about his molded body was heavy. Ethan’s voice actor repeating “Family...Family...” to himself. Almost like you could hear conflicting selves within him, human Ethan and molded, monstrosity Ethan. For a second I almost thought he’d give in to being a mindless molded creature because he came so far only to be told he’s not even human. That little scene did a lot for me and how I viewed his sacrifice at the end. He was able to carry out his duty even after realizing he wouldn’t get out alive, not as Rosemary’s Father, or even as a molded man. I loved Ethan!
Heisenberg's voice sounds like that one kid from your high school who is a complete nerd but ends up getting some drip and puts on a fake, cool guy voice.
@@martingrundy7577 I don’t see it, I just don’t see her disgracing Ethan’s sacrifice. I think it would be interesting to see Chris and Rose team up to do whatever they’re gonna do in 9. Go after BSAA maybe? Or maybe that already happened before she grew up, idk
I think he is still alive. Yes his story may be over, but that does not mean he can’t be in Roses. I think they are trying to through people off. Capcom has never killed off a main character. Also, they are very cleshe as in they gave rose the typical double agent rebel look, I think she is a double agent working for umbrella. At the end where the guy says “you’re just like him ya know” and she replies “I know” as a snotty remark, I think he is still alive.
Unpopular opinion maybe, but I throughly enjoyed Heisenburg’s voice acting. It was like a creepy Nicolas Cage. Also was a big fan of the village of shadows story told at the beginning and end and how it was related to the story and the 4 lords. The game kind of felt like a love letter to all kinds of old horror/monsters. Vampires, lycans, werewolves, fish creatures, dolls, and frankenstein.
Who else after beating the game, quickly started up a new game and began replaying it? First RE game in a LONG time where I wanted to play the game through back to back again.
Yeah, i did. But just for a few Minutes until i could pick up my new and shiny Weapons which i bought with my Boni-Currency. After that i decided to continue after i finished those other unfinished Games i started. Btw my first Playthrough was on Easy-Mode. My next will be on Normal and if Veteran isn't too hard i'll try that too. But not that Village of Shadows Difficulty!
@@TomSir79 harder difficulties are much easier in new game plus, especially if you spring for some infinite ammo weapons. You can def do it. Just keep in mind that auto aim is off by default on hard and vos
@@haunteddreams7856 I mean you go through so much just to save your daughter and you are with him all the way through its really was hart wrenching that he at least got to hold her and say goodbye for just a little while. He may not be the perfect character but it was one hell of a ride.
thanks! I appreciate that especially considering I think this was my messiest video to date. I'm all over the place. I just love Resident Evil, new and old lol
I agree at the end where Ethan walks up to the mold mountain to blow it up was super cool, I wish they would have let you control him walking up slowly to the mold and pressing the button yourself.
House Beneviento was definitely memorable for me in so many ways. I loved how you didn't have to use a gun or fire a single bullet to get through it alive. The atmosphere was so good and all the little puzzles. I was literally stressed out while playing it and getting so scared and creeped out especially with the baby monster. They did good. Very Silent Hills/PT like.
Nick N. I believe that was intentional , when you were at House Benevito , while heading towards the corridors leading to where the doll Mia was , that hallway corridor looks eerily similar to the P.T teaser demo
Ethan's sacrifice made me tear up a bit I'll be honest. I have a 1.5 year old daughter so I can relate to his pain in doing that. He never really had a chance to know her at all and that hurt deep.
Y'know with the reveal in the lab that the mold basically holds the memories of people who've been infected by it, wouldn't Rose like know all the stuff that Ethan did and like potentially still talk to him like Ethan did with Evelyn since shed be like Half mold too.
Oh man I just looked up that scene and he actually says “bunch of crazy witches”! I played with subtitles off and I swear it sounded like he said bitches. Oh no - I heard the wrong thing. What does that say about me? 😢
His accent was terrible. He's a factory worker, but he sounded like he spends his days at the country club eating finger sandwiches and drinking Arnold Palmers.
Ethan is a BOW. He’s the perfect BOW and that’s what makes him special and probably the most important character in this series thus far. This series has been trying to create the perfect BOW but have failed. Ethan’s mind, soul, was still intact where other enemies have lost that.
This is actually a great take. He's what Umbrella wanted to create, the next step in human evolution, and it's because of him that Rose is the perfect candidate for Miranda to revive Eva.
Capcom does a great job creating side stories of boss characters (Bakers from RE7 and the 4 lords from the village) and I wish they could just keep their focus on those characters instead of connecting them all to the main last boss and the whole umbrella lore.
Same here, I’m on the 2nd run with Leon now! 10 out of 10 game! I don’t see Capcom topping it, but we’ll see. Also, ❤️ William Birkin and Claire. Cool ass characters
I agree with a lot of what you said, BUUUUT, I gotta admit, I kinda liked the Miranda story. It's this nice little circle of love turning to hate and eventually, evil. Miranda's love for her daughter is the catalyst of all these horrible events, and Ethan's love for his is the undoing of a fair few of them. I was thinking this could even be a great Re send off, then we see the BOW BSAA agents and obviously Capcom still have another one in them XD
I’m hoping it’s not a time jump, cuz that would mean all the characters and stories we have come to love would be nearly two decades in the past , we need a proper end to tie it all together while also continuing the story
RE6 was there attempt at a climax. Which didn't even include Jill or Claire. Remastered/remade Code Veronica could be a good wrap up of Claires story with the new lore continuing on from RE2. No idea why Chris is front and centre so much. Is Leon getting relegated to the RE4 remake? Then what about Jill? Is she getting shelved because RE3 was a flop and decided to go into Capcoms old habit of more explosions, less RE. Even cutting out the majority of RE3's amazing atmosphere. Howling zombie streets, jumping out of cars and swarming and surrounding you in cramped alleyways.
@@jamieenoshima5147 I think you're right about Leon being relegated to the RE4 remake, as they seem to be using him a lot in the remake/movie projects. Chris's games usually do not get much love so they're using him now in the mainline titles going forward, but also Chris being a beefy US soldier specialised in killing BOW's makes much more sense than sending in Leon who is not apart of a team in that way, so Chris fits THIS story more.
It hit me in a weird way when you see Ethan literally fall apart before going out with a bang. It almost felt like he couldn't die, like the dude was a god amongst mortals and once he realized he saved rose he knew it was time to let the others take the reins and his fight was over. We've only got two play him for 2 games but the dude grew on me that fast, RIP Ethan winters
He was (at least for me) a poorly written character and not seeing his face kind disconnects him for me, cuz we see all the faces of the other characters. When I finished the game and saw "The Father Story Ends" I was kinda happy. Am I being too harsh?
I’m still speechless after that ending. Ethan is such a great character. I think they did a good job of progressing the story through both games feel natural. Btw the value that Re8 adds to Re7 is awesome now that we have the whole story.
I did too, and I feel like I'm in the minority. He was a fantastic character, and I loved his voice acting. Of the 4 Lords, he and Donna were easily the best.
The PT homage is just a pure video game/horror geek out moment! I know a lot of people have gripes with the game but I adored it, my favorite game of the year so far.
I'm kind of torn about whether that's a good thing - it's amazing the first time you go through it, but it will probably be a low point of the game on repeat playthroughs.
I’m gonna need Chris Jill Claire and Leon to be involved forever 😭 I was confused and disappointed because Chris is on the cover but he was 20 minutes of the game, and I’m glad I wasn’t the only one so done with the factory! It never ended while the doll house can be done in 10 minutes the content there felt so minimal compared to everything to else
I definitely took way longer than 10 minutes in the dollhouse, but I also was scared and went very slowly through it (when I wasn't being chased by the baby).
@@MichaelWilliams-cd9if the intro was great when you f irst get into the town and the castle I liked it felt like a lot more could of been done tho like people don't like it when I point out re4 seemed to have a longer and bigger map in comparison obvs some differences nowadays with textures and enhanced graphics taking up download space but still I think it was big let down for me in a lot of way overall gameplay was good not knocking that at all but very short cleared it very fast and on hard difficulty they really should go back to their roots more like re2 and re3 top notch games.
@@fiacradoyle7474 if you like re2 and re3 then just play them. If you get tired of that there is about a hundred or more re clones over the years you can try. I liked village for the most part. It wasnt perfect but still good. And It is most likely just a game they made to reuse all the assets in re4 remake. Its practically the same game already
I’m SO glad someone finally understood that Ethan was written the way he was INTENTIONALLY. Yeah he’s corny and cheesy on purpose, but he actually has a really cool arc too I feel, where in the end of the game he has actually become hardened and tough and more determined than ever. I loved it so much!
7,8 and 9 will be a trilogy. Then the next RE wont be numbered but will all have different names, "Resident Evil : *put a name here*". So I do think they will go into different ways with différent story. Some RE more horror like the Beneviento house, more puzzly like Demetrescu castle and more action like Heisenberg factory. Capcom created the perfect franchise through the years to please every kind of gamers. The best is yet to come! ❤
You brought up an awesome point that hadn't occurred to me, how each of the lords represents a specific part of Resident Evil's personality as a series. I can't wait to see how they tie everything together in 9.
I literally come here because I like to hear you talk. I've never even played a single resident evil game but you're a nice way to take up time😂😂keep doing what you're doing
Interesting. Haisenberg was actually the most interesting character to me, ability wise and surprisingly was my favorite voice actor from the villains.
@@takoshihitsamaru4675 He was absolutely a bad guy. Where do you think he got all the bodies to experiment on? Those were all people dude. Also, he says that he wanted to manipulate Ethan's child to become his personal weapon against Miranda... How can you not consider him a bad guy? Sure, he was there against his will too, doesn't make him not a villain in his own right tho.
@@amarntsitran3406 The corpses were from villagers who died to Miranda's other forces or natural causes. He raided graveyards not committed mass killings.
@@amarntsitran3406 I sort of see it like this, in his situation, obedience was the only way he survived, human experiments was something Miranda seemingly pushed her lords to do anyway, so why not do it with an alternative agenda. As far as using Rose to kill Miranda, we don't really know what that would look like, and Ethan could always retaliate if he saw it would not be in the best interest of her wellbeing. But as far as "save your daughter, kill Miranda" goes, Ethan ends up doing exactly that anyway. I think the writing was a bit off though when we are able to kill Miranda with just our arsenal, if Heisenberg knew that, or if it was better explained that she's still very killable, he'd have been a great ally. In his eyes, "kill Miranda" is the end goal, using Rose is just a 'good plan' because the lords are constantly told how powerful she is and he doubts he could off Miranda without help. If only he knew that all it took was a dozen grenades and a handful of magnum shots to the face + C4, old mate would never think about hurting Rose over that... So no, I don't think he's as wilfully evil as the rest, more like an anti-hero, the enemy of my enemy kinda deal.
I think about games like Control and that's how I invision playing as Ethans daughter in RE9 if that would be the case. I hope we don't get to that point in the series.
She would just be like Ethan, able to reattach limbs with first aid, but still able to die receiving too much damage. She wouldn't be super OP, but a great advantage in battles against monsters.
Exactly. What I’m wondering is if we play as OP rose in re9, are they going to drop the first person, slow and methodical gameplay and feel more like Nick N. said, Control or quantum break? I just don’t know if the re7 and 8 style would work for a character like her.
I know where you are getting at. I think for veteran players we want some sort of closure to our past old favorite characters. We all are wondering in this new RE World are they dead or alive? What happened to them? Characters like Jill, Claire, Leon, Chris, Barry, Ada and etc are all fan favorites and I think old school players really like and care about these characters so naturally we want to know what something... Anything about their current state. Just my 2 cents.
I'm totally with you in bringing back Wesker! The minute I saw an rpg and that man and he caught it with his bare hands was the moment I knew, he should never be allowed to die!
@@0subsWith0vidsChallenge Try it without the infinite ammo. It's unfairly brutal. Some encounters are damn near impossible. Plus, even with infinite ammo it still only takes 1 or 2 hits to kill u. Especially the Heisenberg fight.
I absolutely loved the factory. The atmosphere and gameplay was amazing, especially thru headphones. A lot of people are saying it didn't fit with the rest of the games aesthetic given there's vampires, werewolves and Cthulhu vibes. Erm... Dr frankenstein anyone?
I liked it a lot as well, I thought it had the best gameplay. Also clear throwbacks to RE4 island section especially with the enemies who need to be hit in particular spots to die and sort of looks the same too (spiky)
Honestly you can't keep making the same old games and expect things to not get stale.. Im glad they're changing things as long as they keep it horror themed. The remakes will give us old heads our fix for the past characters and villians and the new main titles will go somewhere else. I want Veronica remake already!
You’d said you’re a RE fan from day one but When have you ever known Resident Evil to ever keep every title in sync with each other and continuously keep the same character in each title? Ethan is lucky to have had two titles in a row like that tbh.
As a new Resident Evil fan whose first game is 7, everything about 8 was so exciting. I’m hoping Rose is a really fun character. I kinda hope they explore the concept of playing as somewhat of a biomutant monster yourself
Personally I’m not that attached to the old cast, I didn’t grow up with the older games (though I’ve played almost all the mainline titles now) so I’m obviously biased towards being fine with moving forward with new characters. But part of why I’m also not too fussed about leaving the old cast behind is because the old characters didn’t really resonate with me - the new cast of protagonists generally feel like actual characters (especially in Village) driven by grounded and relatable personal goals and values (Ethan doing everything he can to protect his family, Chris trying his best to control a quickly unravelling situation and taking on overwhelming odds more or less alone to keep the innocent as far from the danger as possible) whereas I find a lot of the classic cast to be characterised as two dimensional action hero vessels for the player to occupy for several hours, whose values extend not much deeper than a general desire for justice in a fight against corruption without much space for interesting deviation. What I think would be really cool though is bringing classic characters back in new titles and giving me a real reason to care about them other than a nostalgic pat on the back, like for Chris Redfield in Village I connected with his exhaustion and desperation so much and his character resonated with me more than any other time I’ve interacted with the character in a past title.
Tying Ethan's mold infection into the plot is a nice twist, but how could anyone NOT think that somehow the mold had gotten into him in 7 with all the crazy ass damage he took. He never was an 'everyman'.
I thought everyone figured Ethan was infected. I always knew he was infected during his blackout after being blindsided by Jack, but murdered? Did not see that. Ethan was able to use his hand again and we see Lucas get his hand chopped off. Jack blows his brains out and comes back seemingly fine as well. When you get to the old house(?) is when the infection,as stated by the memo; grows. That’s where Ethan begins seeing hallucinations but he hasn’t lost all sense of ego. He’s in mid infected stage. There’s actually a great video on this that I recommend if you haven’t seen it already. I think his name is Funko? Idk. Anyways, I was actually expecting the twist that Ethan was molded. I just thought that the route they would go would be every time a person infected is damaged, it’s the mold that replaces the damage areas. Like more mold forms or something like that unless you’ve taken severe damage and then the mold mutates into a large mass and takes a less human form like Jack or you calcify like everything else that takes too much damage. It’s basically the same explanation as they go with except they say Ethan legit died died. So yea assumed he was just like Jack except not insane because he never reached that level of infection
Plot armour. That and resident evil was always featuring cutting edge technology with biotechnology/weaponry etc. I always assumed the first aid water stuff just had some sort of stem cell regeneration formula in it and that’s why he could heal and reattach his hand etc. The idea that anyone knew he was molded is a lie
This is one of the best Resident Evil Village review I've seen. You pointed out the actual flaws which make sense rather then pointing out stuff which doesn't even make sense like other reviewers. One thing you missed to mention is Village's amazing graphics and monster varieties.
Well the cool thing is at the post credits scene is seeing the car transporting Rose stops suddenly when on the right side of the car (Rose’s side) is potentially Ethan. Some other UA-camrs went into photo mode and confirmed that it is the model used for Ethan.
I can understand a little bit, If I was Chris, I did the same thing. My fear of telling Ethan the truth might lead to something even more unexpected course from Ethan himself override my intention from being a great guy to help the poor dad. I mean, if my whole life is full of deceit and messed up B.O.W experience, no matter how human Ethan was or how little he aware of what's going on, he still a B.O.W, a Mold, I definitely have trust issue with him. Not to mention we're talking about Eveline, the very reason why Baker fell deep into the abyss without even realising it. I know, Chris know just wants to believe that Ethan is a good guy, and we want it to stay like that so he can live, Chris want to believe Ethan is Ethan, he is what he is despite he's a walking corpse, but losing too many men in many occasion really damage your heart because some people turn out to be B.O.W and betray you. When things go south is the only time when I will let the truth go but that also when I keep trying to make Ethan believe that he should cling to whatever the good thing is left within him.
I was really hoping for an official face reveal Mandalorian style when he gave Rose to Chris. Like, her touching his face or just looking at him before his sacrifice. It would've killed me.
If anything this game just solidified Chris as much as Ethan. He genuinely wants to help. Also boulder-punching is still canon and I'm glad Capcom didn't make the same mistake as they did in 7 where Chris was just some army dude. But nope, he's boulder-punching boy scout. I actually felt like the Chris from Vendetta while playing in 8 cause holy shit he was just mowing through Lycans. I'm honestly more excited into looking into the BSAA and what happened to them as Chris rather than Ethan's daughter. Maybe the next game you could play as Chris taking down BSAA and some other familiar faces come back (what RE4 should've been, all the characters coming down to take down Umbrella, rather than them falling apart off-screen.) I'd love to see Chris even meet Sheva from 5 again.
They're not "zombie robots", they're zombie with scrap metal and drills attached to them.. When people stop looking at it as "robots", "transformers" or "cyborgs" and start looking at it as crazy experiments from a disturbed mind clearly inspired by Tetsuo: The Ironman, the factory starts not only to make more sense but actually becomes more scary in terms of body horror. I honestly liked the entire game but IMO if I'm going to complain about an enemy design, I'd say the Soldats are the ones that makes the most sense in this game, everything else felt like it needed a forced excuse just to be in the game. You can clearly see that they came up with the explanations for them AFTER deciding "let's just put vampires and werewolves in RE, that sounds awesome!", it just takes a lot more work to feel "natural". The explanations are okay but Village will go down in history as the RE with werewolves and vampires so at the end of the day it's kind of a quirky, ridiculous over the top RE game and it won't be because of the factory part, at least not in my opinion. I don't know.. I guess it just feels more natural in this game. A zombie is a force to be reckoned with, right? What if we amputate it's arm and attach a drill to it? This sounds more like RE than everything else in Village. As for Ethan, I'm VERY surprised that people didn't expect that plot twist. I knew he was a molded ever since the dinner scene in RE7. I was right and wrong at the same time because it didn't happen at the dinner but come on.. he ate a bit of the mold and glued him arm back in the first 30 minutes of gameplay.. I didn't know he was technically "dead" but does it even matter? He wasn't a human being anymore.
I didn't hate the factory as much as some... But, I though the level design and atmosphere and enemies were really cool if we were playing a Quake game and instead of calling these monsters Zombies or Molded or whatever and you called them The Strogg you wouldn't know the difference.
I haven't beaten the game yet so im not gonna watch the video quite yet but I will say I've just beaten the doll house and got to moreus place, and so far im really liking it, I thought lady D was gonna be the big bad for the game but she was only the first boss but im enjoying exploring and coming back to the village to find new stuff, pretty good so far
It's a masterpiece imo. Sure it's not a completely flawless game, but I have never started a new game so fast before. Like, right after completing the game. Also, isn't it sorta funny how it's basically gonna be Parasite Eve with Rosemary in RE9?
If we all look at Resident evil 2 and 3 remakes with Leon and Claire and Jill. You still can have that *survival horror aspect* even with these so called OP heroes that we have come to know and love. Just make it reasonable within the game mechanics to not make them OP? As controversial as RE6 was , our heroes still struggle against regular zombies and BOW foes I heard rumors of RE4 remake and RE revelations 3 and even RE code Veronica remake , with RE9 I am really unsure where and how are they going to make it , are we going with Rose as the protagonist or anyone of the OG - Leon, Chris , Jill ,etc. I as any fan would want them to end the franchisee on a strong note.
Exactly! There are still so many established characters in the franchise who can lead on within a more "survival horror" atmosphere. I don't understand why Capcom just wants to leave them in the dust.
idk how u did it but u were insanely accurate with everything u talked about lol some of these things i didn't even think other people agreed with me on !
Unfortunately the ending with Ethan's daughter mentioned that she has powers which is actually making me worried that the next game is going to go the Alice from the movies route.
Funny how people hated the movies for having a random character with powers but didn't complain about 7 and village which was a random character with powers 🤷♂️
I mean since RE4, all the characters were practically super human. From rookie cop Leon taking down Krauser with a knife, Chris punching boulders, Jake going hand to hand with a Nemesis like monster, Joe Baker with his iron fists, and Ethan with his regenerative abilities. We've had super powered characters for quite some time.
I think another aspect that was perhaps in the back of your mind is that we’re never guaranteed follow-ups to story threads. We get sequels sure, but take the first trilogy plus CV. They all end with some variation of them needing to take down umbrella, and it seems like it’s building to something, but instead Leon opens 4 by saying, more or less, “Umbrella ran out of money lol.” The most recent offender is the ending of the RE3 remake. There seems to be a thread left open with Jill investigating more into Nikolai and something about the virus vaccine. But to date there’s no follow up on that stuff. RE9 could potentially have nothing to do with Ethan or Rose. That’s just reality for us fans at this point.
Jill, Chris, and Leon will always have a permanent place in my memories but games need to evolve and not be shackled with 20+ years of lore. Comics do it regularly why can't resident evil?
Your the first person to talk about Heisenbergs voice, I loved his voice. it was different then the typical Troy baker, love Troy but it’s good hearing and seeing more people play and get roles.
I thought it was quite clear that Ethan was infected by the mold since the intro of RE7.. The whole family is, they are resilient, the Dad regenerate his whole head, they talked about the "gift".. i mean, i didn't know that Ethan WAS mold, but it was pretty obvious that he was infected by it since the beginning of RE7
If he wasn't infect at the beginning of 7, he certainly was when he was on the crashed ship trapped in the mold by Eve. And if Ethan is a 'Mold Zombie' what does that make Mia and Zoe Baker? They where infected a lot longer and both them 'died' only to come back.
It made a whole lot of sense during the first boss fight with Jack on the garage when he shot himself in the mouth. He wanted to show Ethan how amazing the gift was.
Might catch some sh*t for this, but honestly Heisenberg was my favorite lord. I loved his Jigsaw x Dr. Frankenstein vibe and the influence he held over the lycans. Also, I found his motivations to be far more intriguing and compelling than those of the other three. Again, just my personal opinion.
I dont know that last scene still makes me feel like its ethan....just seems very strange how no one is there walking on the road and then as soon as the car goes by there is a guy there walking. I don't know why else you would put someone there
I'm still quite new to resident evil since I started playing from re7 and have played both remakes and now village. I thought village was amazing. They seriously nailed the atmosphere of each area and it was just so good. The castle was my favourite and also benevientos house. That place was actually legitimately scary
I've been playing the series ever since the original in 1996, so let me say welcome to the family! lol And I agree with you. I'm not sure I can pick a favorite because they all mean something to me, but Village is definitely among the best.
Kind of makes you really stop and think about the scene where Ethan walks in front of the toppled van in the snow at the beginning of the game. In which it was really emphasizing the way he walks... kind of like a zombie.
Heinserberg was definitely my favorite, the dude is just having so much fun( tho that might be just in the Brazilian Portuguese dub) and the monsters from the fabric really give me Tetsuo vibes so that's a plus!
I really like the way 7 and 8 took a step back from the main story of the franchise, and with the ending of 8 I really think that now the winters story is going to become a part of the larger universe. So I'm really happy with how they used the winters family, bringing them up from nobodys, to rose being a key player most likely.
I wouldn't say Ethan isn't a B.O.W. In fact I would say he's probably the first ever PERFECTED B.O.W. in the franchise ever. With zero unstable mutations possible, the mold seems to have seamlessly bonded with his cells on a molecular level. He retains his sense of self, his individuality, full use of speech, a regular appetite, all his memories, and most importantly of all for being a perfected bio-weapon, the ability to breed and create offspring with abilities like himself. He is everything Spencer was trying to achieve through out the entire franchise, the next stage in human evolution. He can sustain severe injury going as far as to be able to reattach severed limbs or survive for hours after having his heart ripped out. Just because he's not a mutated monsters freak doesn't make him any less a bio-weapon. More so it makes him the most successful one ever created.
"what if he climed out of the volcano" killed me the fact that heisenberg know what happen in r5 is kinda scary to be honest that means somehow someway he found out about it
Miranda was directly linked to Umbrella. I'm sure The Organization was keeping an eye on her. Everyone who was experimenting with BOW's knew about Wesker. It's not too out there for Sheva tp have mentioned what happened to someone in the BSAA at some point and word traveled from there.
I accepted the spoilers just to see your video Jake (also because I know I'm not going to play it in these months sadly, maybe I forgot the spoiler, who knows)

His "What're ya buyin'?" Referance made me giggle. 😁

I finished RE8 this morning and it made me tear up a little. I didn’t like Ethan in RE7 then he really grew on me just to die a heartbreaking death. It didn’t ruin the game for me though I’d still rate it a 9.5/10
P.S
Donna Beneviento is prettiest lady of RE8 IMO
What was heartbreaking for me was what Evelyn did to the Baker Family in RE7. Especially in the 'Mold Dream Sequence' where Jack is talking and telling you what happened.
Donna was pretty, but not for nothing Mother Miranda was fucking hotttttt
Everyone is lusting after lady D while I'm over here like "yeah I'm good with the supermodel with crow wings, thanks"

Really, time line jumps around in RE universe. We might have another RE game / movie that set between Village and the time Rose grew up lol

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I throughly enjoyed Heisenburg’s voice acting. It was like a creepy Nicolas Cage. Also was a big fan of the village of shadows story told at the beginning and end and how it was related to the story and the 4 lords. The whole game was haunted Disney. 4 big attractions with a thoroughfare between
Rylecx 2.0 with the village being the hub area being the safe zone
It feels like that the first time , after 2nd and 3rd playthrough, not so much
House Beneviento was definitely memorable for me in so many ways.

I’m hoping they go the route of rose aging fast like eveline. Like even though she looks 18 maybe only a year or two has passed in the timeline

Exactly. What I’m wondering is if we play as OP rose in re9, are they going to drop the first person, slow and methodical gameplay and feel more like Nick N. said, Control or quantum break? I just don’t know if the re7 and 8 style would work for a character like her.
@@mrbobert6312 she is far more powerful than Ethan. Everyone in the game literally says he is like a super weapon
I kinda want to see the twist that it was wesker all along lmao 😂
I want wesker to comeback so badly 😭
Him hoping out of a volcano would be very wesker of him.
No, Wesker is dead. He literally drowned in lava inside a volcano and got shot in the head with 2 RPGs. Hes not coming back
I miss wesker soooo much
Umbrella Corps. It’s the key.
I enjoy that your videos just seem like a genuine conversation not like a script read.
I still wonder where's Leon S Kennedy Jill valentine and the rest of are favorite characters where have they gone.

They went to Netflix. 😆 Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness coming soon!
@@dhrgkbqxtjr2743 yeah that’s true
I know where you are getting at. I think for veteran players we want some sort of closure to our past old favorite characters. We all are wondering in this new RE World are they dead or alive? What happened to them? Characters like Jill, Claire, Leon, Chris, Barry, Ada and etc are all fan favorites and I think old school players really like and care about these characters so naturally we want to know what something... Anything about their current state. Just my 2 cents.
I'm totally with you in bringing back Wesker! The minute I saw an rpg and that man and he caught it with his bare hands was the moment I knew, he should never be allowed to die!
Playing on village of shadows difficulty and I am being absolutely punished for it.
Just finished that difficulty today. It was worth every death. Last hour was the best and most brutal.
Use infinite ammo or it’s imposible
@@darkside7654 Yeah, I used infinite ammo with S.T.A.K.E
@@ronaldunderwood4270 if you use infinite ammo it doesnt count
I love how scared your face looks when you talk about Lady D turning into a Bloodbourne boss
Love your content Jake Baldino! I watch all the gameranx vids on Facebook and just found your UA-cam! Keep doing your thing my man!
I wish they added Leon, Ada Wong and Jill somehow. Lowkey I expected Sheva Alomar to cameo when you heard the BSAA was present at the village.
The coherence of the story through 7 and 8 with call backs to 7 in 8 was a very good thing.
It's never happened before
5 and 6(Chris)
@@Ticketman99 bit of a push since it was multiple stories. Never had a full set of games dedicated to just one character.
As a new Resident Evil fan whose first game is 7, everything about 8 was so exciting. I’m hoping Rose is a really fun character. I kinda hope they explore the concept of playing as somewhat of a biomutant monster yourself
No.
@@codymiller8969 they did lol
We need more Chris and Leon.
And clair and the umbrella villains
They're too OP at this point. Chris can move boulders. Leon is a superhuman kung fu guy.
WE NEED A GAME ABOUT CONTINUING THE REDFIELD BLOODLINE
Hell yes.
Well said. I can dig it
I think "Benevento" is Jake's new favorite word. lol
That’s not even the correct spelling.
@@BrandonWestfall I googled "Resident Evil Village House Benevento" and that's what I got.

Benevento is a city in Italy, and Beneviento is the dialectical pronunciation of it
I loved the enemies in the factory, so cool looking. Capcom did a great job on this one. Can’t wait to see what’s next for the series
I didn't hate the factory as much as some... But, I though the level design and atmosphere and enemies were really cool if we were playing a Quake game and instead of calling these monsters Zombies or Molded or whatever and you called them The Strogg you wouldn't know the difference.
I haven't beaten the game yet so im not gonna watch the video quite yet but I will say I've just beaten the doll house and got to moreus place, and so far im really liking it, I thought lady D was gonna be the big bad for the game but she was only the first boss but im enjoying exploring and coming back to the village to find new stuff, pretty good so far
this was a great video! it’s super interesting to hear your perspective on this
It's a masterpiece imo. Sure it's not a completely flawless game, but I have never started a new game so fast before. Like, right after completing the game. Also, isn't it sorta funny how it's basically gonna be Parasite Eve with Rosemary in RE9?
I don’t see any replay ability in the game what so ever unless ur going for achievements
@@notacockgobbler2054 I think the infinite weapons are neat also lightsabers

Did you see the camera mod being used in the end credit scene? The guy walking towards the car had the model of Ethan
If we all look at Resident evil 2 and 3 remakes with Leon and Claire and Jill. You still can have that *survival horror aspect* even with these so called OP heroes that we have come to know and love.
Just make it reasonable within the game mechanics to not make them OP? As controversial as RE6 was , our heroes still struggle against regular zombies and BOW foes
I heard rumors of RE4 remake and RE revelations 3 and even RE code Veronica remake , with RE9 I am really unsure where and how are they going to make it , are we going with Rose as the protagonist or anyone of the OG - Leon, Chris , Jill ,etc.
Oh god no
......no...no...noooooo
I wouldn’t worry because Ethan had powers technically yet it still had the same gameplay but who knows
Can we please not play as rose in the next one?! Put Leon on Rose protection detail 😂😂
LEOOOOOOON! HEEEEEEEEELLLP!
i dont think that rose needs any help from anyone xD
Lmao Wesker all along. That's good stuff you made me laugh pretty hard.
Heisenberg was the best part bro. He was awesome, way cool personality imo.
That's what I remember. It said that both he and Mia were infected.
I fully agree.
I agree completely. Heisenberg and Donna's sections were my favorite, and their characters were the most interesting.
I really like the way 7 and 8 took a step back from the main story of the franchise, and with the ending of 8 I really think that now the winters story is going to become a part of the larger universe. So I'm really happy with how they used the winters family, bringing them up from nobodys, to rose being a key player most likely.
exactly this, I think we will find out in 9 that she will be a huge part of the overall canon of the series.
House Benaviento was really scary. But it was the coolest part was using the Dualsense to track where the baby monster was.
Kinda pointless, it pops up in scripted places
You’re the man Jake! Absolutely love your videos. IT WAS WESKER ALL ALONG lmaooo
"what if he climed out of the volcano" killed me
the fact that heisenberg know what happen in r5 is kinda scary to be honest
that means somehow someway he found out about it
Miranda was directly linked to Umbrella. I'm sure The Organization was keeping an eye on her. Everyone who was experimenting with BOW's knew about Wesker. It's not too out there for Sheva tp have mentioned what happened to someone in the BSAA at some point and word traveled from there.
"What if it was wesker all along "... god damnit that made me laught xD
