- 2009' SX4 2.0L Belt Tensioner assembly itself is replaced in this sequence. Not to be confused with the publication of the tensioner pulley replacement. I believe tensioners are also available from Delco & Gates.

Great video, thanks! My AC compressor & system as a whole is shot. I’d like to bypass the compressor in case the bearing decides to seize. I saw the handy belt routing diagram at the end for the models without AC. Does that manual happen to mention what belt is used in the non air conditioned models? Cheers!

Chevy stepside gears Yes 2008’ is the same. The video is referring to the 2.0 Litre gasoline engine type. Cheers

Actually off topic for this video, but I noticed you have eliminated the heat shield at the front (left side) of the engine above the exhaust headers. I assume you've not had any I'll effects?
Mine has rotted where the mounts are and vibrates quite a bit. It was poorly designed with wire mesh between the shield and the mounting holes... As if with the constant heating/cooling and moisture, those wouldn't rot away fast. So I've considered eliminating the shield completely, but hesitated thinking it may serve more of a purpose than I'm seeing off hand.
No adverse affect I am aware of. Burn hazard though.

Did you have to take the tire off?
I took the heat shield off of my 2009 SX4 - it was rusted at the mount and rattling really bad. The heat shield directly underneath/in front of the engine was also lose and rattling. I tack welded it in place but the other one I removed about a year ago...no issues so far. Just trying to get a few extra miles out of it...bought it brand new in 2009 and it has about 160k miles on it right now. I have been lucky, no major maintenance, just brakes, idler pulley, and belt. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th set of tires.
Oh I lied - I am looking on UA-cam for videos to replace the A/C Compressor...I think the clutch and compressor went out on it. It's making a hideous noise and best I can tell it is the compressor because it's no longer blowing cold air. I ignored it for a long time (a couple years) but it's started to make noise real bad in the last few months. Not a high pitch squealing but more of a wobble low grind kinda noise. It sounds bad so...here we go.

I wasn't having any problem, then 2 days after watching this video, I start hearing a bird chirping type sound emminating from the belt area. The belt isn't slipping so it must be tensioner pulley bearings.
As you likely know, a cheap automotive stethoscope (and a healthy dose of caution using it) will be of Great assistance in isolating the source. Don't overlook the belt itself. Cheers Ian
@@TheGibby3340 Well, the only pulley with bearings is the tensioner. I put a new belt on in August when I replaced the alternator. I can tell it's not slipping since it doesn't get worse with rpm under load, belt dressing doesn't help, and alittle water doesn't cause it to slip & sound any different.
