Kristin, I too am from the Great NW, grew up in Seattle area. I am usually a very asymmetrical type artist, but I am very drawn to these mandalas and have started painting them (with your instructions) from rocks I have gathered from the ocean...THANK YOU.
Hi. The top dots really change it! It looks even better. I really like ur tips and tricks on measuring. That’s a huge help. Waxed paper is so easy to use. Love it!
I've watched the video again, and I'm just as impressed. I love this design. Well done. Oh, I use some non-stick shelf paper cut up into squares to hold my rock steady. I just turn the paper so I don't have to touch the rock. My husband also built me some pedestals to put the rocks on so I can see under the rock as the dots travel down the sides.
Hi Kristin, thank you so much for your tutorials.... there are very useful with all these explanations.......love this spiral....i will call it sea urchin spiral :) .. good luck kristin.... waiting for your next tutorial :) have a nice day
hi.kristen... no wonder i like you so much... me thinks we are quite a bit alike.... love the picture of your grandparents.... mine were such a big influence on me too... shout out to grandparents everywhere. 🍎LOVE
hi Kristin, haven't heard from you in a while. was starting to worry. so happy to have you back. excellent video as always. hope you were able to see the solar eclipse. love and blessings to you and your family. your no.1 fan
HI Kristin and all of you rock painters, My favorite tools for perfect dots are NAILS. Flat head for larger dots and the pointed side for tiny dot accents. I hope they give you hours of fabulous painting.
Hola me llamo Araceli soy de argentina que cosas maravillosas haces estaría buenísimo que pongas sustituido en español para poder hacer las maravillas que hace te re felicito dos una genia 💛💜💚💙❤
Kristin! I love your videos, your designs, and your color choices. Thanks so much for taking the time to show all of us how to do this! I was wondering on the actual technique of placing the dots. When you do this, does the tool completely touch the rock or do you get just close enough to "drop" the paint on the rock? Thanks!
I know that you have probably answered this question a million times but i am going to ask you to answer it one more time. What do you use to thicken and to thin the paint? Thank you very much. I love the spiral rocks.
hi kristin. thankyou for sharing this lovely design with us. I will be giving it a try. can you suggest anything to put in my acrylic paints to make them a little thicker as some of them are too runny. thanks
Thank you for using a tape measure to draw the guide lines, i could see from that you used a rock about 1 1/2" , if i hadn't seen that i would have used a much larger rock, hard to tell sometimes, also i see you use triple thick clear acrylic spray, does that hold up outside? Thanks, now i have something to do with my small ones. Love your work Kristin
Hello maam. Your work is truly amazing. I follow your videos keenly. I want to from where can I order that Black pittsburg transfer set? It would really be a good addition to my painting tools. Thanks and Regards.
Hi Kristin.... What did you use to make the paint thick? Thanks for a beautiful tutorial.... Will do one this weekend. I did some one inch rocks and took a photo, but couldn't get it posted on your facebook :( They turned out nice....
My favorite 9 piece set is from Traveling Kindness Rocks online. It has wooden handles and is very comfortable for marathon dotting sessions. I also really like the metal tools I use from the 28 piece Transfer Punch Set (Pittsburgh). They give e me all the in between sizes I need. I like using the Redheart Crystallite crochet hook set (Amazon) for teaching my classes because they are color coded and easy to use.
That is so pretty! I have a question. I did the good morning sunshine mandala and (it being my first ever ) it got a little wonky and my dots went off the background color on one side. Is there a way to fix this or do I just chalk it up to a learning experience and try again on another rock?
It's really a matter of practice. Even if you use the same tools, each rock is a little different, and each dot of paint may be slightly bigger or smaller. You just sort of get a feel for what fits as you continue to practice dotting. Don't give up!
thank you, and I won't. :) What I did was expand the background a bit and added the white and gold dots and you can't even tell it isn't a perfect circle. :)
Pittsburgh Transfer Punch Set - you can get them here cheap! My husband just bought them for me and I love them! www.harborfreight.com/28-piece-transfer-punch-set-3577.html
your spiral sort of helped me but if you have used more vivid colors it would of been more helpful was hard to follow as your white and light pink looked the same...

So pretty! It looks like beads. What do you need to do to prepare the stone before painting it?
I wash and dry the stone. and then spray the backside with a clear acrylic and let it dry overnight. Then I paint the front side
hi kristin. thankyou for sharing this lovely design with us. I will be giving it a try. can you suggest anything to put in my acrylic paints to make them a little thicker as some of them are too runny. thanks
I mix in the Martha Stewart Pearl paints to thicken my paints that are too thin.
Thank you for using a tape measure to draw the guide lines, i could see from that you used a rock about 1 1/2" , if i hadn't seen that i would have used a much larger rock, hard to tell sometimes, also i see you use triple thick clear acrylic spray, does that hold up outside? I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you, Deborah!

Love your instruction videos. Do you have a preference regarding tools?

Where do you get such flat smooth stones? I'm landlocked here in Kansas.
That is so pretty!
