This type are referred to as 'the healers' and they're characterised by kindness, empathy, the desire to bring good to the world, etc. I believe we could all benefit from more of those qualities.

For anyone who is wondering why he is talking this slow, he has to carefully pick his words as everything they say in court is written down and can be twisted and used against him.
Actually it is his fear of speaking/being in public. Ever notice that he didn't attend award shows and if he did he stayed to himself?? Johnny is a meticulous method actor. He is more comfortable acting as a character in a movie instead of a regular person. Notice he looks down a lot and does tend to smirk or laugh a little when he talks and he does repeat a lot as well.

I mean intact is not really the word. You can see that he aged a lot, that the situation that he was in probably made his addiction to drugs and alcohol way worst. So i think it's fair to say that his health will never be the same after that, mentally or physically

What this woman did to this man is just pure evil. She severed his finger, took a dump on his side of the bed, beat him up...this is just very horrible. No wonder everyone is against her.
In 20+ years of working in the Criminal Justice arena, we learn a lot about human behavior through both experience dealing with people and training - Ms. Heard's facial expression which literally doesn't change through this entire testimony tells me 2 things - Pretty much, Depp's testimony is factual and truthful because while not everyone is exactly the same, most people will show facial reactions to comments that they believe to be false, especially when the comments are attributed to them - she does nothing of the sort, so his testimony is accurate. Further, her complete lack of emotion or really any reaction at all suggests a very cold individual. I'm sure that Johnny had his moments in this relationship of being less than a stand-up guy, but from what I've seen and heard, she's the problem and the Jury already knows it.
Yess you learned a lot about expressions and faces. Other people learned a lot to change expressions and faces in front of cameras. This guy is high, he's laughing all the time,... Is that normal to you? Does he want more wine? The woman that was part of his life, had she been chosen by him or by a pill with a smile or by a bottle of whisky? Is he a real man like he shows in his movies that takes his own decisions and is holding and controlling his life or is he a child where other adults need to take choices for him and put him with that woman together?
Johnny has a talent for telling stories. Not matter how horrible the facts are he will always find a way to make them less traumatic even though the listener knows how serious these facts are. He is a gentleman and his testimony will make a great audiobook. Hope he will be able to clear his name.
That's one of the ways he deals with trauma. He rewrites the story in his head. It's called narrative therapy, and it's truly effective. It's one of the best ways to make peace with an abusive past.
You can tell how uncomfortable it is for him to relive this experience, especially when millions/billions are watching and judging. I believe him 1000%. That heartless women is a class A abuser.

If she hadn't of gone that far I would probably still be fighting for them. Unfortunately authorities and child services tend to side with the mother. @@batdis2046 What I mean by this is the amount of violence and torment that she inflicted on him, for example; slicing off the tip of his finger, putting out a cigarette on his face, slamming a door into his head, leaving crap in his bedsheets, etc. He even describes how he would constantly try to evade her at times when all she would try and do was antagonise him. (btw this is all the stuff that I know of, so she probably could have done more)
I think in the long run , this will help him heal, but he will probably never marry again! I just hope he can find a peace for himself without aid crutches , like alcohol , drugs and the like, their just blinders that never fully cover the real issues he is dealing with.
I can totally understand what he means by saying that he was relieved by his mum's passing. I felt the same when my Dad passed. I sat by his bed day after day and I watched him slowly deteriorate to the point where he couldn't even speak any more. It was heartbreaking but I know he suffered at the end and that was the most crushing thing. So yes. There is a sense of relief when someone you love passes when you can see them suffering.
i felt the same way when i lost my dad. i was only 17 but he had a stroke, he was down to one leg left, he couldn’t even drink out of a straw. if he lived longer he would have probably had a feeding tube. when he was at his best, he loved baseball, swimming, going out in nature. he wasn’t himself with all the amputations, he didn’t get to LIVE, and he didn’t want to be here anymore. though i’m relieved for him, i miss him everyday 💗

This is exactly what my relationship with my mother was growing up. I still struggle dealing with arguments. And staying calm while someone is verbally berating you, whew. I can physically feel that experience all over again and it's painful.

I think Johnny Depp smiles when he is describing a traumatic incident because he feels the need to spare everyone else the heaviness of the experience.

I love how he speaks, how soft spoken he is. How careful he is in describing every details. I can listen to him talk all day. I liked him before but I really like him now after watching the trial. Crazy how AH makes him look even better in my eyes than before! It's like getting to know the real JD. To me this whole thing has made him even more dear to me.

Johnny is an incredible actor, but the stuttering, delayed answers, the anxiety and disbelief when recalling the memories (not remembering a lie), the broken speech patterns, the way you can see him leave that room in his head and go back to the moment and it utterly takes over. The way he smiles when he does confirm to himself, that yes, she did in fact hit him in the head with a door, is absolutely heartbreaking. I hope he will get out of this.
Notice how Johnny recalls the events perfectly, as opposed to Amber who always seems confused at trying to make the story make sense. Johnny is straight forward. Also, you can see it in her face that she recalls the moment he was talking about where he was standing in the doorway and she hit him twice.
Too right. If you have trauma of the situation/are the victim, you usually remember how everything went down and can recollect it better than the abuser, who usually has no reason to remember what happened
At zero point in any of Johnny's testimonies have I thought him to be lying or acting. He recounts everything in chronological order, and he does not make dramatics of these painful events, like as if trying to gain pity. It's hard to talk about, but he just lays out the facts of his emotions and thoughts in a graceful and logical manner. It is what it is, yes it was terrible, but this is what happened. It's just honest and genuine sounding, especially given the environment, you wouldn't tend to make a scene recounting these events as if you were talking to your best friend or therapist. Unlike AH preaching about being a survivor. Trying to gain pity using dramatics. Acting. Rehearsed. Planned. Obvious. Johnny is believable.
I don't think he's "acting" I believe everything he says, but I think he's naturally an actor cuz this definitely seems like it is a trial in a movie his facial expressions and the way he talks in story telling form with such passion I think that's what people mean by "acting" not that they don't believe him, at least that how I feel lol I feel like he's such a natural actor that it seems like he's always on screen lol
This brought tears 😭 to my eyes a man listening to him narrate all that he went through and recounting her mom passing. This man has been through so much pain and suffering.
Fundamentally a person like Johnny, who goes into children’s hospitals to make their lives slightly better and more happy, is just a good genuine human being. 99% of comments I read are in support of him.

My heart breaks for Johnny. He has spent his whole career keeping his private life out of the spotlight. Not one time in his career has anyone ever accused him of being violent towards women. This woman set out to destroy him. She married him to get a career boost. When she didnt get whatever fulfillment she wanted out of the relationship she set out to ruin his life, period. She is a sick twisted individual. As a survivor of DV, his testimony takes me back to my own trauma at the hands of someone just like Amber. Same characteristics, same manipulations, same everything. I hope this trial finally proves once and for all that she was the monster in the closet. Regardless of the outcome, his life is forever changed because of this. He has lost so much as a result of her actions.
I whole heartedly agree. As a DV survivor myself, listening to her audio made me cringe, and even in those he never raised his voice, but she did. She is the epitome of evil. I am rooting for him to win this.
He did lose things, his sense of worth and his sense of self. She took his trust and tried to take his dignity. Thank the lord he didnt let her though.
Plus, remember she didn't sign the pre-nuptual agreement. Again, in Australia one week after they got married, she wouldn't sign a post-nupt. She was also after a big payout.
Im most impressed how he kept his temper thru it all. She was pushing his buttons on purpose. Its a testament that hes a person of some level of self control. Its weird, he cant resist drugs, but he had an iron will to not hit her.
Notice how she doesn't pay attention when he's talking about his mother, she fidgets, takes notes, but when he directly talks about her character she deadass stares at him, challenging him and if you've been with an abuser before that's the "I'm going to hurt you later for saying this, I dare you, go on"
Yes!!! When I had to testify against my ex husband in court, he stared at me like she stares at Johnny. For years I knew that if he gave me that look things were gonna be bad when he got me alone.
Anyone else notice how she was making “pity me faces” while he was talking about what she did but the moment it switched to his mother and his feelings she seemed irritated and started writing and looking around the room almost rolling her eyes? Absolutely no feelings about him or his pain. Only self centered narcissism!
I did notice that. A true narcissist to the end. She cant stand him talking about anyone but her. Its all about her. She cant stand that he loved his Mother and Kids. She wanted his sole undivided attention. He was only allowed to love her. She needs help. And all these so called friends just enable her. Her time is coming. She will end up all alone and no one will care. She will be irrelevant. And she brought it all on herself.
And in the moments where he describes HER hitting HIM, she tries VERY hard to cry. But there are no signs of actual human emotions, just bad acting and an empty stare. This is what something with NPD does.
yeah well like you said we have been here for a while and we know humans, we humans have killed and incarcerated many innocent people and we felt like we were doing the right thing every time, it seemed so obvious as it seemed to the Germans that the holocaust really was the solution to their economic and social problems. She may not be innocent but that is not for the masses to decide it is for a proper trial like this one to conclude it and we should be careful with our comments...
Sadly not everyone can tell who lies to who. But I knew Amber was the aggressor in my mind from the get go. Her career needs to be over and his needs to be reinstated

One thing that seems consistent throughout the trial is that while Amber, the so- called 'victim', shares the stories of the AB that she allegedly went through, she's speak fast and is blunt and very dramatic. But with Johnny, he speaks slowly, softly and takes a lot of quiet pauses, almost as if he really is struggling to relive these experiences.
I feel like no matter the outcome. Johnny is at peace knowing he is able to express his side without interruption, with support and in public. It takes strength for him to do it but I'm glad if he wins this case, it's an encouragement to alot of men and women out there who has gone through his situation.
Think of this... Out of the countless actresses he's dated throughout his career, he was never considered abusive. Did he like to drink? Of course. But alcohol doesn't make every guy abusive. He is a kind soul, whose had substance problems who got caught up in a relationship with a sociopath. It was a recipe for disaster.
You can never be at peace being forced to tell the world your most embarrassing shameful secrets. What she has done to him is disgusting and he will be changed forever. Peace be damned.

If she wasn't the person she is (I would love to know her official, diagnosed Personality Disorders - you know she has more than one, too), we wouldn't be here watching this. I had the same thought, early on, that she is enjoying all of this - sadist. Any way that she affects him negatively is a win for her, but there will be and end - eventually. Johnny has always been extremely poetic. I've always remembered his quote, "If you fall in love with two people, go for the second one because if you were truly in love with the first, you wouldn't have fell for the second". He's just always been very thoughtful and poetic so it's just ridiculous to me that people would think he's being disingenuous. He's had a lot of time to think on this, of course he's gonna sound like he's put a lot of thought into it. She had just as much time to process and prepare.

To be honest, I don't agree with that quote (but I do love Johnny very much, let that be known). A lot of people enjoy the feeling of 'falling in love', it's exciting and romantic etc. However, that feeling doesn't last forever, and eventually your monogamous relationship turns into a different type of love. It's more of an understanding, patience, a best friend forever sort of ordeal. You still kiss and all that, but it's not as exciting as the beginning of the relationship. It is very easy for people to be mistaken that 'comfortable love' is 'falling out of love', and when they stumble into another possible romance they believe that this new person is their true soul mate. It's not, you didn't choose wrong the first time, it's not meant to be rainbows and butterflies forever; you're chasing a high. People will lose the comfortable relationship to chase after the high thinking thats what love is, and then they quickly find out just exactly what they lost. You lose comfort, safety, reliability, loyalty. You lose someone who knew you inside and out, who you knew inside and out, all in favor of the excitement of a passionate romance. Romance will not be there holding your hand on your death bed. Passion will not be there when you are sick with cancer. You can't rely on romance or passion to do anything for you other than give you a high. The second person is almost always never worth losing the first, unless the first is already a horrible person (which, I'm pretty sure his first wife was a great person as they are still friends), but people will stray even from just being bored. It's just the way it is.
At probably the worst time of his life he had no support from his wife. That is tragic and I'm so sorry for him having to go through his mother passing essentially alone without a strong shoulder.

I can only imagine the sense of relief he feels getting this all out to people who are genuinely listening. That part has to be the best part of it all. I agree. When I lost my sister I screamed over and over for probably two weeks. I'm not a screamer and find it hard to do it. I remember going to the grocery store, thinking I'd be ok, and started throwing stuff in the middle of the aisle. My fiance gave me a big hug and we went to our car. My mom is very similar to Amber. The only difference is that my dad never argues back, he always keeps completely silence in a fight, and my mom never really gets physical against my dad, she only beats up us, the kids. And throughout the years she keeps yelling and humiliating everyone in the family, and she always refers to any humiliation or abuses as “just a talk”, or “just a chat with you”, “just hit you a little, it’s my right, the mom’s right.”

In 20+ years of working in the Criminal Justice arena, we learn a lot about human behavior through both experience dealing with people and training - Ms. Heard's facial expression which literally doesn't change through this entire testimony tells me 2 things - Pretty much, Depp's testimony is factual and truthful because while not everyone is exactly the same, most people will show facial reactions to comments that they believe to be false, especially when the comments are attributed to them - she does nothing of the sort, so his testimony is accurate. Further, her complete lack of emotion or really any reaction at all suggests a very cold individual. I'm sure that Johnny had his moments in this relationship of being less than a stand-up guy, but from what I've seen and heard, she's the problem and the Jury already knows it.
There are also moments where she tries to cry in order to be seen as the victim, but no actual tears are shed...

If she hadn't of gone that far I would probably still be fighting for them. Unfortunately authorities and child services tend to side with the mother. I can totally understand what he means by saying that he was relieved by his mum's passing. I felt the same when my Dad passed. I sat by his bed day after day and I watched him slowly deteriorate to the point where he couldn't even speak any more. It was heartbreaking but I know he suffered at the end and that was the most crushing thing. So yes. There is a sense of relief when someone you love passes when you can see them suffering.
i felt the same way when i lost my dad. i was only 17 but he had a stroke, he was down to one leg left, he couldn’t even drink out of a straw. if he lived longer he would have probably had a feeding tube. when he was at his best, he loved baseball, swimming, going out in nature. he wasn’t himself with all the amputations, he didn’t get to LIVE, and he didn’t want to be here anymore. though i’m relieved for him, i miss him everyday 💗

My ex wife changed my life by being a vile person to me and I am forever grateful to her for playing her part in my life. Johnny is an incredible actor, but the stuttering, delayed answers, the anxiety and disbelief when recalling the memories (not remembering a lie), the broken speech patterns, the way you can see him leave that room in his head and go back to the moment and it utterly takes over. You can see the flashbacks happening as he speaks.

Notice how Johnny recalls the events perfectly, as opposed to Amber who always seems confused at trying to make the story make sense. Johnny is straight forward. Also, you can see it in her face that she recalls the moment he was talking about where he was standing in the doorway and she hit him twice.

At zero point in any of Johnny's testimonies have I thought him to be lying or acting. He recounts everything in chronological order, and he does not make dramatics of these painful events, like as if trying to gain pity. It's hard to talk about, but he just lays out the facts of his emotions and thoughts in a graceful and logical manner. It is what it is, yes it was terrible, but this is what happened. It's just honest and genuine sounding, especially given the environment, you wouldn't tend to make a scene recounting these events as if you were talking to your best friend or therapist. Unlike AH preaching about being a survivor. Trying to gain pity using dramatics. Acting. Rehearsed. Planned. Obvious. Johnny is believable.

My heart breaks for Johnny. He has spent his whole career keeping his private life out of the spotlight. Not one time in his career has anyone ever accused him of being violent towards women. This woman set out to destroy him. She married him to get a career boost. When she didnt get whatever fulfillment she wanted out of the relationship she set out to ruin his life, period. She is a sick twisted individual. As a survivor of DV, his testimony takes me back to my own trauma at the hands of someone just like Amber. Same characteristics, same manipulations, same everything. I hope this trial finally proves once and for all that she was the monster in the closet. Regardless of the outcome, his life is forever changed because of this. He has lost so much as a result of her actions.

One thing that seems consistent throughout the trial is that while Amber, the so- called 'victim', shares the stories of the AB that she allegedly went through, she's speak fast and is blunt and very dramatic. But with Johnny, he speaks slowly, softly and takes a lot of quiet pauses, almost as if he really is struggling to relive these experiences.

To be honest, I don't agree with that quote (but I do love Johnny very much, let that be known).
A lot of people enjoy the feeling of 'falling in love', it's exciting and romantic etc. However, that feeling doesn't last forever, and eventually your monogamous relationship turns into a different type of love. It's more of an understanding, patience, a best friend forever sort of ordeal. You still kiss and all that, but it's not as exciting as the beginning of the relationship.
It is very easy for people to be mistaken that 'comfortable love' is 'falling out of love', and when they stumble into another possible romance they believe that this new person is their true soul mate. It's not, you didn't choose wrong the first time, it's not meant to be rainbows and butterflies forever; you're chasing a high.
People will lose the comfortable relationship to chase after the high thinking thats what love is, and then they quickly find out just exactly what they lost.
You lose comfort, safety, reliability, loyalty. You lose someone who knew you inside and out, who you knew inside and out, all in favor of the excitement of a passionate romance.
Romance will not be there holding your hand on your death bed. Passion will not be there when you are sick with cancer. You can't rely on romance or passion to do anything for you other than give you a high.
The second person is almost always never worth losing the first, unless the first is already a horrible person (which, I'm pretty sure his first wife was a great person as they are still friends), but people will stray even from just being bored. It's just the way it is.
At probably the worst time of his life he had no support from his wife. That is tragic and I'm so sorry for him having to go through his mother passing essentially alone without a strong shoulder.

That is one of empathy’s many beauties and gifts.

The only difference is that my dad never argues back, he always keeps completely silence in a fight, and my mom never really gets physical against my dad, she only beats up us, the kids. And throughout the years she keeps yelling and humiliating everyone in the family, and she always refers to any humiliation or abuses as “just a talk”, or “just a chat with you”, “just hit you a little, it’s my right, the mom’s right.”
