Undoubtedly the most underrated album of the 1990s in the UK. Don’t know if it was because it was near the end of the decade and things often get lost in those years. Either way it’s a masterpiece
If i remember correctly...the media built them up to be "bigger thas Oasis" which was impossible cos Oasis were huge. Fucking hated Oasis not a huge Embrace fan to be honest but id take them over Oasis anyday
Greatest band of the 90s. Forget oasis for the humble man this is as good as it gets. Their music helped me through some dark times from fireworks during a break up to this track. Thank ypu lads for your epic Ness your ability to stay humble and grounded Your A sides and beautiful b side ballads. I have most of your singles some on vinyl. Peace ✌️
Helped me through grimm times too brother, hard drugs and loneliness, this is the 1st time I've heard it in 20 years. Great song but won't listen 2 it again, to hard.
@user-kt2tk5ql9l Onwards and upwards m8ty sounds like you have been on the same road as me. Don't let your past hold you back from your future. Everything we do is a learning curve and meant to be. Can only make you stronger. Peace bro
They knock this one out as their debut single then have to spend their entire career chasing the rainbow. The lead singer sounds like Professor Brian Cox singing, but all in a good way. Such an epic record, pure genius. The outro and all the la-la-las makes for an ear worm and a half. Brilliant.
This album is still in my top five desert island albums in 2020. This album is timeless! There is not one track on the album that disappoints. I listen to this album at least once a week. My 6 year old even likes it when I play it. He sings along to the chorus every time. Raising him right!
I keep listening to this over and over again I've been trying to figure out what it is that makes this song so special and I've come to the conclusion that I still don't know and yet still listening to it it's an anthem a slow one but yet catchy and powerful
one of the best things of the uk law is that we do not have the death penalty. you can argue that if a mistake is made it cannot be reversed which is true. but the best reason is that you show compassion an empathy for everyone whatever they do, and understand that to advance as a society this can NEVER happen ever again ever. we as gods do not have the right to take a life and it it is hypcritical for us to do so.
I feel bad that I'm not more of an Embrace fan than I am when I remember this is one of my favourite song/video combos ever. It makes me tear up, it's the only song that does that to me.
I heard this song on the radio and liked it to the extent of finding it here literally at the point of it ending on the radio. Just watched the video along with the music and I can't help but be moved to tears by it. It's brilliant.
I seen Embrace for first time at the Boiler Shop Newcastle I agree it’s a classic album it was an amazing night listening to all tracks in order on the album plus they came back on for an encore 💙💙💙💙💙🎤🎸🎸🎹🥁
The person was actually innocent, as it's implied throughout the entire video. The signs of the protestors ("Give jurors IQ tests!"), the look of sadness on the other deathrow inmates as if they know something's wrong, the guilty look on a lot of people escorting him to death, like the lawyer, and the priest, and others. The song is about Good People doing and condoning the most despicable acts with the very best intentions. The video has an innocent man being put to death for a crime he didn't commit because Good People supported the death penalty. And the saddest thing is, this actually happens a lot in America. Troy Anthony Davis & Cameron Todd Willingham come to mind. And they aren't even the beginning.
I saw this video once over ten years ago and it stuck with me, I guess that its pretty powerful, even though I've never heard anything else from this band
Know the McNamara lads and was good friends with Steve's sister as they all live close by. Love this song and the video is very poignant to me as I see it as a modern take of the demise of my great great great uncle Kevin Barry.
Embrace each other now, you millions! This kiss is for the whole wide world! Brothers - above the starry firmament A beloved Father must surely dwell. Schiller, Ode to Joy
It's amazing how we appreciate the music, the group and listening to Embrace!
One of the very best songs to come out of the 90's.....
Totally agree.
Undoubtedly the most underrated album of the 1990s in the UK. Don’t know if it was because it was near the end of the decade and things often get lost in those years. Either way it’s a masterpiece
Be Here Now killed the music scence those last couple of years of the 90s
Love it so much..but have only just discovered it
There was a lot happening in the 90's with British music so it's not really a surprise some killer albums fell though the cracks.
Not heard this for more than 20 years l reckon . Played the album to death . Old geezer now .Nevermind .
If i remember correctly...the media built them up to be "bigger thas Oasis" which was impossible cos Oasis were huge. Fucking hated Oasis not a huge Embrace fan to be honest but id take them over Oasis anyday
That part where he sings the chorus when in the electric chair is one of the most powerful moments I've ever seen in a music video
Yes! 😢
👍
Reminds me of simpler times
Listen to this song sparingly so always get the buzz each time i love it
Why is British music so good?
Because it just bloody is!!!!
we do do things different in Britain :-)
There is no comparison!!!!!!! British music is ALWAYS better!!!!
Cos were awsome
Because we got history, and lots of it
Underraaaaated. Just sayin.

I loved this song at the time and still one of the absolute best. Makes me cry every single time. A very special song indeed. Thank you Embrace
Here thanks to Rick Beato. How have a never heard this band???
Me too, it pricked my ears the second he played it on that stream
Less than 400k... What a shame! This is pure gold!
When a song never gets boring, timeless
As Lord Tennyson said "Every moment dies a man. Every moment one is born". Great song.
Fucking love this tune!!! lucky enough to see Embrace in 2000 and again in 2003
+Jay Hannigan Yep, they are good live. Watched them play before they hit it big at the Leeds Irish Centre in the early to mid 90's.
Jay Hannigan
I can't wait to see them at Shiiine 😊
Excellent song, powerful video, from simpler times…🙏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🫡
this song makes my heart soar but makes my eyes cry.
Song still holds up. His voice is so good and the video concept is such great story telling!
One of THE best songs of all time
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is second rate Oasis, who themselves are third rate Beatles!
@@Katehowe3010who, when they first started, didn't write their own songs and were told what to wear.
And were a psyop to control the public
Más de 20 años buscando esta canción hasta hoy la encuentro
Congratulations
Também, rs. Obrigado, Google.

I like the message at the end.. For every life lost and new one begins
Heard this on Absolute 90's today! Took me right back. Love this track, ain't stop singin it all day!!
2020 and this is still brilliant....
Fantastic band..
one of the most under-rated songs ever!

If you under 30 I’ll forgive that analysis’, otherwise your a twat
This is the most beautiful track of all time xxxx
How on earth does this amazing track only have 500k views?
now that's what I call a BIG production!
Seen them live twice recently. Amazing. Danny was the first to admit his voice is not the best but he was fantastic. Good old Brit indie 🤟✌️

no. no. no. no. no. no. never. no. how dare you.
Highly underrated video. Never fails to make me tear up. Very powerful and moving. Only wish they kept the outro for the song in the video.
Just watched some old Trigger Happy TV stuff... forgotten what good taste Dom Joly had when making that ground-breaking show :)
Just watching it again as it is on Netflix now. Brilliant soundtrack.
Whenever I feel a bit down, I watch this and smile at the end.
Saw them life in Madrid back in the sweet nineties. Still keep drummer stick. Unexplainably underrated
Such a heart wrenching and moving song
......the ADDED aspect - being SO sonically evocative of "Day After Day" (and Pete's, Tommy's OWN tragic deaths.....)
Underated... This song gives me the chills! 😢
Glorious tune!
I fu**ing love this track
Always loved the song but never seen the video, was surprised to see captain hollister 😆
I feel bad that I'm not more of an Embrace fan than I am when I remember this is one of my favourite song/video combos ever. It makes me tear up, it's the only song that does that to me.
A forgotten anthem really!
Brilliant track

Embrace were the best band of the Britpop era.
This shud have way more views what an anthem
I dreamt about this song last night. So I had to watch it here once I woke up. Was a daily tune for me in the summer of 98.
Anthemic classic tune
Reminds me of secondary school. There was always a good looking kid who had perfect hair. Oh also the song is an evergreen banger. 90's forever
All you good people, what a great song. The video that accompanies it is so fitting and haunting, looks like he really wants to die. Very good.

Where at?
Such a beautiful song, these should've been much bigger. The instrumental version is even better.

🤔 what?
Wrong
Thanks, captain obvious
It’s about order followers doing what they’re told even when they know it’s wrong. Or the difference between a conformist and a moralist.
I saw this video once over ten years ago and it stuck with me, I guess that its pretty powerful, even though I've never heard anything else from this band
2024 n this group are fuckin amazing... followed them since the 90's ❤❤
This sounds like smoethign halfway between Stand By Me by Oasis and The Universal by Blur
totes
Totally agree!
gogolplex74 It does
Hints of The Verve too.
