Just learning for the first time how to run this machine. My new job will show me but I wanted to watch this ahead of time. Thanks for this video. Helped a lot!
Yes!!! I came to say the same thing. This video wouldn't be the same if the person was a bigger person or if she held her legs straight as if she couldn't move them.
You don’t move it. That’s why the sling has the commode cut out (the hole in the sling) so they can do what they need without having to move it. If the patient had taken a shower what helps me is putting a beach towel on the bed so to minimize wetness when transferring back to bed. Hope that helps.
You should make a video about lifting a patient off the floor. That is the reason I got one of these, for when my wife falls. The overall procedure is the same except the legs have to straddle the patient.
Belt under arms ( 2 people) one hand on belt one under arm...position yourself to side of patient place stool behind back and buttox. short Stool to reg stool. Reg stool to chair transfer. Cuts the weight in half and moving if the patient is heavy
I notice the sheets being very wrinkle an not straight which can cause skin break down after a while.Instead of 2 people watch Client on the toilet one could make sure the linens were straight.Other than that it was helpful
The straps are based on the individual. but I always use blue on top when putting someone in the chair because it helps sit them up so, you don't have to pull later. Let the hoyer work for you. Even when putting them in get behind and pull them to the head then lower the lift. No boost later. Let the hoyer work for you.
Don't drive the hoist directly into the front of the chair/commode. This increases the risk of shins and feet hitting the mast. Drive in at an angle to the commode.
It would be nice if you address undressing people for use of commode, cleaning of people after using commode, redressing, and also making sure bedsheets are as smooth as possible.
I can't see how the sling with the hole in it can possibly stay clean and who will wash it every time it's used. How can this method be used if for example a person weighs 300 lbs.
I thought you had to use All the same Color loops when attaching the loops? My wife is 230 lbs, about 5'5 inches. I have the same commode sling you are using here. She kept telling me her neck and head were hurting when I lifted her. Am I doing something wrong?
So typically with these lift sheets there are different colors that indicate how upright a person will be. By using all the same color all throughout the person will be more flat and This is good for getting back to bed, but if the person is going on the commode, it would be better to be in an upright position which is done by adjusting those colored loops. On top it should be the colors that are closest to the person, and on the bottom the colors farthest from the person :)
Hello..the hospice nurse told me you don't use the same colors for head and hip/leg area..cause the head needs to be sitting upright..as the bottom half of the person sitting position..just got the hoyer tonight..I haven't used it yet for my husband, but hooking the net to me it looks as if..the first loop..ours red..for head, then 2nd loop..yellow should work, next loop is green. Nurse says just position over the bed first..til you figure which colors work best for the position..will see tomorrow..
Disculpe, para preguntar por los arnés de nuevo, porque ahora necesito la grúa para mí viejito, que está enfermo y tiene Alzheimer, y ya no puede caminar, mil gracias!
Problem is assistant living and personal care facilities are not permitted such apparatuses. All lifting is done manually. There is no safe way to lift a resident weighting over 200 lbs if you have a small frame.
@@kayp9447 because in assistant living residents are supposed to be weight bearing able to stand and pivot on their own. Light assistance not full skilled care.

Wish you would do videos for heavy set persons and ones who have knee and hip issues such as can’t bend

I thought the dummy in the corner was a person at first hahaha
😆😆😆 yeah, just waiting their turn on the sling
Me too. LOL.
Me too. Kinda creeped me out

I didn't even see it
It is not always this easy with a confused patient that won't stay still.
Very true
The stated that if a patient don't stay still or lager two people should do lift
Exactly what I'm trying to do now. It's so hard. And they slip out of the pad from being agitated. It's not always fool proof.
Or a bariatric patient
Or having to do it urself
How do you get the net out from under the person once they are on the toilet/bath chair??! Every video skips that part! I'm so confused!?!

Thanks for this video especially of the manual version! It's been years since I used a hoyer and this video was so helpful.

The manual lift is very interesting I’m kinda glad I don’t have to use it where I work but it’s definitely interesting

There is also a floor chair jack
You did not address how to clean the patient after using commode .....?
To be fair, the video was about how to use the lift, not how to do patient care.
@@vickyferreira3259how would you clean the patient after the commode?
Why are they dragging her bottom across that bed. That means they didnt lift her high enough
That's so true.
Agree
That's because they got the straps so loose. The hoyer can't lift anymore.
I notice the sheets being very wrinkle an not straight which can cause skin break down after a while.Instead of 2 people watch Client on the toilet one could make sure the linens were straight.Other than that it was helpful
How does the patient use the bathroom or take a shower in a shower chair?
Straighten the sheets to be free of wrinkles and fold to minimize the occurrence of bed sores
Thanks for the tip!
Can one person operate or handle a Hoyer lift?
Yes. I'm having to do it with my father. I have him rollover and hold on to the rail as I place the sling under him. Exact same method as the video.
Yes .... legally need 2 people in some places
I wish employers would honor the two person assist. It was never enforced and nobody helped..
This is so complicated, the patient will have released everything before hitting the commode.
What color straps did you use?
Blue/black
They did not show the strap part.
The straps are based on the individual. but I always use blue on top when putting someone in the chair because it helps sit them up so, you don't have to pull later. Let the hoyer work for you. how do they even poop if the pants are on? can the sling be use in bare skin? @@8BABE4
I think you’re supposed to match the colors at the top and the bottom
some have the straps go under and out on the same side to prevent forward sliding during the lift.
We had to this in class.
How are they supposed to use the bathroom if the sling is still under them?
This particular sling has a hole at the buttocks for toilet use.
Great that there’s a hole! I guess they just pee n poo thru their clothes… makes sense.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂right. They said don't remove the sling wtf🤦♀️. It must have a poop hole😂😂😂😂
Honestly it's a move it around and hope for the best😂😂😂
There are slings with holes. You will have to remove their clothing obviously before placing the sling under them.
How do the patients say if they need a Hoyer? Do they say: Can I get a Hoooo Yeeeerrrr! like that? lol.

Oh my video is a great help, very simple and informative
Very well done ,thanks.

How to clean them? While we pick them up we clean them then put them in the bed?
Exactly 😂😂😂
This is the best video
You should use a very big patient, which is more realistic
We call them Hoists in the uk.
Good 👍 job
Where can I buy this ?
Rick, we are factory for this device. Price is 800USD. Do you consider?
Amazon
It was detailed but could’ve been even more detailed. Also do one where only 1 CNA is available to operate it.
It would be nice if you address undressing people for use of commode, cleaning of people after using commode, redressing, and also making sure bedsheets are as smooth as possible.
But please don't do so after dinner. Thank you.
How many price of hoyer patient liift
For how many kg ?
manual 202kgs, electric model 180kgs 202kgs and 272kgs model we have
The bed should be raised
Why didn't you show how to remove that thing when patient wants to use the commode?
You don’t especially if your using the one with the hole in the middle
The real question is how to get someone's pants down?
