@@davebellamy4867 I spoke to Steve and Phil, especially Phil, before the second show of the tour, at the University of Waterloo. In hindsight, I think he was somewhat nervous about the whole thing. Within moments of arriving at the gig, several hours before the show began, I saw several guys chasing a soccer ball around and thought the roadies were goofing off but it turned out to be all or most of the band letting off some steam! Steve and Phil and I did a shortish formal interview while the roadies were setting up, then Phi and I talked again at someone greater length without the tape recorder running while the rest of the technical setup got done. He didn't actually SAY he was nervous but his body language and some of the things he said gave me the impression that he was very conscious that the audience acceptance of the new version of Genesis, much of which depended on him, could make or break the band. But he clearly rose to the occasion and that version of Genesis was very successful; the band even survived Steve leaving.
@@hughmungus1767 Thank you for sharing your experience. In my case, I would fall in love with the band through my sister, ten years my senior, who did see the '76 tour and shared her albums and early concert stories with me. Genesis has always connected us - still to this day. To have the opportunity you did was very special, and I'm grateful you passed it on so we may enjoy it, vicariously.
My 1st concert (15 yrs old) and it changed my life! As a kbd player eventually wound up playing much of the material and started a 50 ❤ year love affair

@@speedysfilms Pretty awesome stuff. About the only thing missing are excerpts from the Lamb + Fly on a windshield, Entangled, Firth of Fifth and White Mountain, but I don`t blame the poor guy, he must have run out of tape to film, lol. Wonderful close up and personal footage of the four man era. Pure Gold. Only Phil's 4th show as singer? What a f**king amazing group they were. Thanks for sharing.

Genesis played in Rio in 1977, I went two times, did some super 8 (around 10 minutes) and photos, but I know that a tv guy filmed in 16m although it was never broadcasted, not that I know of. The sound was broadcasted life at the ELDOPOP FM a prog station at that time, it is on tube with reasonable quality.

I posted this comment as a reply but I thought it might be useful more generally. the producers of this amazing archival work are too polite to say it but the comments questing the cuts and why it is this way speaks to a lack of understanding of the source material. This material was audience shot on the only practical, commercially available medium to normal people, super 8 film (for reference see Steven Spielbergs movie super 8, an homage to amateur filmmakers). There were no cells phones, there were no video cameras (at least of the size you could stuff in your pants). So the film cartridges were bulky and low capacity. Enjoy it for what it is, gorgeously restored archival footage unavailable anywhere else. And be thankful that people spent Loooong hours working to bring this material to near cinematic levels and you would have never otherwise ever seen it. To the team that produced this please know fans who know what you did are grateful. I hope that is enough. Peter
Thank you so much. Absolutely love this comment. Some time people have a lot to say lol but we try to use those comments to grow and push the quality to the limits. If you look at some of our earlier 1080p audio less videos, much has evolved. REALLY appreciate the shout out to all the hard work that went into these videos. We now have whole teams of people working hard to bring these videos to every one and they disserve all the support. Thank you again every one involved and thank you again for this amazing comment

Yes, poor Steve usually got cut out during editing. In the "In Concert" footage, if it wasn`t for Fly on a Windshield and a few scenes during I know what I like, you wouldn`t see him at all. Whoever did the editing was kind of ridiculous, back then.
14:57 What fascinates me about these early shows up to about 1980 is the way Phil's eyes move. It's like the awareness in him is taking in everything. The word dynamic is not enough. And Bruford talks or sings while he drums.👍😊
I've seen drummers sing along or just singing out 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4.... The dexterity in a quality drummer is insane. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. .
Phil was a stage trained actor from an early age and even movies before joining Genesis. He has obvious skills as a front man in even these early shows.
@@GenesisMuseum Phil wasn't confident in himself at the beginning though. After Peter G left, the band tried out many, many singers before they all realized that Phil was the best man for the job. He was quite reluctant, initially.

It would be historical if they release some day the full In Concert footage with the omitted songs and without that crap surreal film thing on it The 1976 tour was incredible and quite historical. Thanks for bringing back (even reduced in few moments due limitations of super 8) this vibe again. Phil bearded and with early balding in his 20s, Bill Bruford drumming, Steve's still in the band, Mike and his long doubleneck and hair and Tony's classic synths like ARP Pro, Mellotron. I'm too young and unfortunately never had the chance too see them live, but seeing this gave me a quite strange feeling of missing an time that i've wanted to live. Thanks for this

Yes, releasing the full 1976 concert would be awesome and it would actually be two full concerts since the director that they had hired filmed a full show in England and another in Scotland. So there is around three hours worth of unseen footage gathering dust somewhere. Let`s hope the celluloid isn`t damaged after all those years. One can hope.

Wow, what a great additional to the archives! I learned a couple things after watching this: 1) Steve still sat for part of these shows, and 2) the bass on Mike's double neck was actually a 6-string (plus he looked a lot like Todd Rundgren back then!) But what a great show (and to get Bill Bruford must have been awesome on top of it all.) I wonder if Armando Gallo was at these shows? In his book the live shots from this period are *very* similar.

Just want to say: thanks for sharing. Awesome. BB as the live drummer was always my favorite... mindblowing.
Glad you enjoyed it! BB is the man, brought such and energy to the music
Dude this is magic. It's what I work so hard to emulate today, gorgeous footage. Thank you!
We would be happy to transfer and sync your 8mm reels as we have done with these, contact us at The Genesis Museum
I can vouch for Gmusic. That is the group that did this video for us. Amazing people
Yet another gem from The Genesis Museum! Thanks so much!
You bet! They are masters at this. Thank you so much for watching
Fantastic footage of a very important stage for the band. Thank you for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it. Genesis' story is really interesting. This was the tour that set in motion the rest of Phil's life. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment
Wow. I had no idea a professionally shot video of this show existed. Always great to see Bruford, I've seen him play in Toronto several times.
Hidden treasures. All these reels in the collection where almost lost and we are still missing a few reels but thankful for what we have. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment
@@speedysfilms reels from this show?
No we are pretty sure this was it for this show.
Those shots of Rutherford during cinema show are phenomenal!! Excellent work! Almost prefer this over the official ‘Maylam’ film!
Wow, thanks! The old tech had some real magic in the way it capture video. The more we perfect the tech that magic is lost and has to be added in post. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment
Those Rutherford shots remind me of Terry Kath guitarist from Chicago, his movements. Look very similar imo.
The color is much nicer in this footage. The official film has this kind of sepia tone all over it.
Made my day ; I am a happy man !! Thankyou so much for this raw energy footage
Happy to hear that! Thank you so much for leaving a comment
I saw this tour at the Beacon theater / NYC .Just an incredible show with movies showing in the background & Bill Buford on 🥁 drums .Highlight ) White mountain 🏔️
Glad we took this trip down memory lane together. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment.
Increible!! amazing!!! Fantastic!! It was time to show the group without Gabriel. For me the best performance tour and great creative drumming from Bill & Phil
Couldn't agree more! So glad this was in the pile of reels we got from Speedy when he passed. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment and please subscribe so you do not miss any of our up and coming videos. You wont want to miss them.
Omg!! Spectacular vid!! Fantastic show of the best band in the world!
The best! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment.
This is so cool. Thank you. Great to see actual footage of Steve. And they all sound amazing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching
Have you not seen the Eagles live? Lots of drummers sing while drumming, often lead parts.
Wow!!!
This is some find.
This was a great tour.
Thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching a leaving a comment
what a show, what musicians, what a fantastic job about uploading this movie.
I have an earnest desire that watch full movie of this show.
100%. Almost plays out like a trailer. But unfortunately this is all that exist. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment
Well this is a surprise, wow pure gold. Thanks for sharing!!! To think this is only Phil's 4th show as front man. Seems to be a natural :)
Glad you enjoyed it. Ya, the video is actually from both nights, the 31st and April 1st. He fit like a glove. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment
it's like a wish from a genie's lamp watching this footage. Watching phil sing robbery assault and battery, and then we get supper's ready. I'm stunned.
Jim Kelly did a great with the super8 tech and every one involved in processing reels did such a great job. Thank you so much for watching
I know! Seeing footage of Phil dressed up in his Robbery, Assault and Battery costume is magic!
I love seeing all the praise for Bill Bruford and Steve Hackett here. This shows that fans of the 1976 band were still very much Prog fans. Alas, that was to change later...
Amazing footage. One of my favorites
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing Archive. Thanks you from Santiago the Chile.
Glad you enjoyed it! I would love to visit your country one day. Actually today would be nice its about -7 and snowing right now in Canada. Thank you for watching a leaving a comment
12:17 Never seen Mike move so fast! The electric 12 string sounds awesome.
Such a wild guitar
Wow!!! Thanks for posting this . Great footage. Nicely restored . I remember a miasma of smoke filling the air that night.
All these videos you’ve uploaded are incredible. Thank you! Looking forward to Zeppelin in Montreal 75. Cheers ✌️🇨🇦
Wow. This is simply amazing. Thank you so so much!
You're so welcome! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.
It would be historical if they release some day the full In Concert footage with the omitted songs and without that crap surreal film thing on it
The 1976 tour was incredible and quite historical.
Thanks for this
I still cant get over this video my self. I as well was to young to hit any of these show but what a decade for live music all together. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. Please subscribe as well so you do not miss any of our future releases
ABSOLUTELY!
This is a million times more powerful than that In Concert footage.
This gives a glimpse of how good it really was. Unlike the In Concert film.
Absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment
That' s really fantastic - thanks for this material!!!
My pleasure! Thank you for watching
¡ Gracias, muchas Gracias por este valioso material audio Visual, de una de las más influyente banda de Rock!!!. Mike, Phil, Steve, Bill Bruford.❤
✌️ Thanks from Chile 🇨🇱
My first of several Genesis shows. They were genius!!
Absolutely Fantastic!!!!! Maic Magic Magic! Haven't finished yet and already that Much! Bruford full force also! The beginning of that era was just so top of the world! WOW! Thank you Speedy and Everyone involve, and to Jim Kelly 4 this Gem now in the eyes of everyone! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜💖💕❣ Addition: the spead of the music is so fabulous! Rarely we could see Mike Rutherform playing like this (11:50).
Thank you so much. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video as much lol Ya, I believe that was the last tour for that guitar as well. Thank you for leaving a comment and please subscribe so you do not miss out on our future releases.
@@speedysfilms Impressive impressive. Such a divine quality magestic time! Favorite for me! They were at their peak! This video is so rare of that era! Wow Yes All fantastic work you done! All of You! Gratitude.....
Thank you so much
@@speedysfilms You`re quite correct about that particular double-neck that Mike played in 1976. In the photos of the next tours, he`s never seen playing it.
Amazing to see footage like this.
More to come! So please subscribe and thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment
Nice! Love this era of Genesis. These super 8's are amazing. Thanks!
my eyes feels blessed for this moment, it is Bill Bruford playing "Suppers Ready
Thanks for uploading everything needs to be shared now as there is collectors who are sitting on rare films of the band which i find very sad
We have looked at many option for these reels and this seemed to us as the best idea. " Share it with world and build a UA-cam channel in Jim's name". Thank you for watching and leaving a comment

Spectacular! Historic! Amazing!
Indeed! First large show of the first tour with Phil on vocals. Love how this all came out. Thank you for watching
OMG! the footage of them playing "It " is incredible ! How did you get into the pit to film this!! This is an amazing artifact , Thank you to everyone that was involved in this.
agreed, great version, IT has always been overlooked as a great live song with Phil on vocals....
Superb. Takes me back to the Beacon Theater shows I attended on April 8/9
Amazing the NY NY show. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watcing
@@speedysfilms My audio and pictures from those shows are up on The Movement
Amazing footage- excellent job!
Many thanks! Lots of love and work went into these videos, so truly thank you
Fantastic footage! The magic of real film.
The light flairs from the old gel lights and the 8mm film is amazing. You just do not get that any more. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment
Fantastic clips. Best Band ever.
Thank you so much and thank you for watching
Fantastic video, fantastic music. That may have been first PC tour as a main singer. His very first performance as a front man was in London, ON.
Stunning job. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much.
So cool to see such a great shot of "Phil with the whistle part" in Suppers Ready!
Happy days. This is the tour that " Genesis in Concert" was filmed on? I first saw them at Earls Court in 77. Happy days. Brings back many happy memories of my old mates.
Love that. Sounds like and awesome trip down memory lane. Thank you for joining us.
Yes...this is the tour that "Genesis in Concert" was filmed
Amazing what a performance from Phil so early on
Its quite wild how quick he fit into his roll as lead singer. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment
A lot of things going on in this video, amazing history. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Love this. Great memories for me,just the best. Thank you so much for posting!🙏😊🫂👏👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it. A lot of love went into these reels to make this video and I think it shows. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment

WoW amazing footage and I always thought PC’s 1st performance of Suppers Ready was April 1/76 - guess he was ready March 31 😉
Glad you like it. Thanks for the support
Really Great...Long Live Speedy!

Pure Gold!! Thanks!!!

Phil made different show every tour with Genesis. He never repeated himself as a showman.
He is an incredible artist. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment
Bm13:19 Bill Bruford looks like he was having fun.
Always having fun, part of the energy he brought to the stage.
Genies . Collins incroyable.
7:02 My favourite part of Supper's Ready coming up.
This band is on fire right out of the gate.
They must have been just so ready to get out and play again after Peter left. I know my experience recently, not being able to play shows is rough. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment
76 tour. Watching BB drive the songs behind the band is legendary. I wonder if he even rehearsed ?
It is not where he was at but Genesis sounds potent with him drumming. For a BB fan it is a revelation to hear him play these beloved Genesis tunes. Yes, King Crimson and Genesis. Heck of a resume.
Wow! The Guardian website sent me here.
I was listening to the original _It_ 2 days ago and wondered why it wasnt a single.
Please share the link to the guardian article that sent you please. I could not find any thing. I imagine the length of the song where a big issue. These artists probably had issues with any changes. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.
0:56 A very young and stylish Steve Hackett!
They where all 26 and younger, just kids.
Fantastic video..
Many thanks
I remember the concert they did that year.

LOVED IT!!! Maybe the next video they find will have snippets of White Moutain Live! :) It's almost as if they turned off the cam during that song cause they did not know it :P
Ya, I'm not sure. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
