    I started making my own dry shampoo from an Internet recipe. It's merely cornstarch and some regular food spice (they say cinnamon, but I use a mixed spice, like Chinese 5 Spice or Ras El Hanoot) to darken the color of it, and I am shocked at how well it works.

    • @mgvg5

      @chagoot1024 Рік тому +2

      @@mgvg5 They advised using a make-up brush, and luckily I had one at home, so I used that and it worked. Just make parts in your hair, and after scooping some up on the brush, bang the brush a bit on the edge of the container so it won't go everywhere, and brush it onto your hair. Wear an old T-shirt or something in case you get it on your clothes.
      I had ordered two large cans of Hask Coconut Oil dry shampoo, and they haven't even been used yet, because before they arrived I found this hint, and I'm so satisfied with it that I haven't used the fancy stuff yet.
      On the Internet they often say to mix Baking Soda with it, but some say that's not good for your hair, so I left it out. If it cakes up a bit after a while, I just mash it smooth again with the back of a spoon. When I put it into my hair, I can't even see it! Works great, for pennies!
      The spices are added only to darken the color, so if you're blonde, you might not even need that.

    Regardless of whether or not it causes baldness, typical aerosol dry shampoos that you are referencing have butane as their first ingredient- BUTANE. Definitely not a good idea to be spraying that on your scalp. I have switched to powder based dry shampoo, or embrace the grease.

    I mean I noticed more hair falling out with with dry shampoo and Dr.Dray (a dermatologist) said it can be irritating if left on the scalp for some people. If scalp health means hair health then this makes sense.

    A stylist I had a few years ago always sprayed some dry shampoo at the roots of my crown area after a blow-out. I liked that I could avoid hairspray and it kept my hair from parting in the back because of my cowlick. I also could go 4-5 days between washes instead of my usual 2-3 days. However over time, my scalp started to feel dry and itchy. I also feel like it contributed to hair damage over time. I have been wanting to improve my hair and just discovered your channel. Appreciating all the good tips and advice! Have already ordered the recommended products for my hair type 🙂

    I think it has made my hair thinner in the areas I've been using it over the years. So recently I stopped. It's greasy though so I have to wash it more often. Surely dry shampoo is likely to clog follicles, which can't be a good thing for scalp health and therefore hair growth. Imagine keeping face powder on your face and not washing it off at night...

    Now i am confused.... I was so excited when i found this channel maybe four or five months ago as I was fighting super-very-oily scalp, that appeared in my life because of hormonal medication, that I cannot avoid.
    So, I use redken volume ingection, used redken bonding complex for two months at least, use color fanatic leave in and olaplex bonding oil
    Still i need to wash my hair after two days
    But before all this routine I couldn't wait even for two days, so it is a success!
    So, i started to use dry shampoo to have more days between washes, I usually used it for two days in a row, than wash normally
    Now Kris recommends Living Proof, gray one
    I tried it and it is soooo amazing, but pricey as hell, as costs 30 bucks and i finish it in two weeks
    So I used other different ones
    Pantene never tell for example, made this white texture and super dry feeling, so over time i stopped using it
    I liked Batiste volumizing and moisturizing ones most of all
    And Batiste over night and texturising were so sticky and impossible to brush after
    So
    I still have super split ends, but ok, I did not cut much of the length
    BUT!!!!!
    I had so much sticking out little hair last time and I thought these are baby hair as I massage my scalp every time when I wash it twice at once, as Kris says also
    And than I also use volumizing mousse from Pantene on wet hair, as it adds volume and makes them stay clean longer, so I thought it lifts all these babies
    Also in one of videos Kris said that too small hair are usually babies, as breakage happens closer to ends
    BUT!!!
    I noticed today, that these little hair have blunt ends, like they were split! And some of them are even split right now! I have hair length till the middle of the back basically and this "baby hair" are like an inch length
    I also have so much breakage all over my length
    So I have no idea, what can lead to it... I don't also have any major problems with health it seems (I hope 🥲)
    I thought it is because of these cheap superoverdrying dry shampoos, that I still use sometimes, when I'm not lucky with new product...
    As I don't do anything else at all😭😭😭 even don't have a blow-dryer
    So confused 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

    I just found your channel about a month ago and have been going back and watching all your videos. I took your quiz for recommended products and im working on my round brush skills (im really bad at it) and im asking for a blow dry brush for christmas. My hair is damaged from years of health problems as well as post covid hair loss (i lost over half my thickness. I had thick hair to start with but still lost half my hair) lost of random regrowth with lots of gray after never having any grays before this regrowth. So ive been struggling to relearn my hair. Anyway i have always gone 3 to 4 days between washes but was straighting or curling every day and now im four weeks in only had to wash 5 times and only touched up 3 times between blow drys and thats because im still working on my blow dry so i still am getting a little frizz between. Anyway im loving this new routine! Im already seeing a big difference in my hair. I just gave away all my old hair product to my nieces and reduced my hot tools to my bare necessities. Its so much cheaper because im not searching for that next product to try to solve all my hair problems. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

I am an avid oversprayer, and if I'm buying an expensive one, I want it to be noticeable, but I am also terrified of all the alcohol that lands on my strands with every spray🙈 Is spraying a little cloud somewhat above the head gives it enough time for the alcohol to evaporate, and have mostly oils falling onto the strands?

    My daughter has it and I'm not sure what to do. She's 11 years old and she watches your videos with me, which is great because she used to be so lazy before and didnt want to do anything besides put a blanket of shampo on her hair, not scalp, then rinse it and she had really bad oily hair. I thought she just wasn't rinsing.
    Anyway, if I switch her to her shampoo and conditioner and other products that's good for her hair type and do her hair routine the way you suggest, will the dandruff go away?

    • @LT-pp1je
      @LT-pp1je Рік тому +1

      Is it dandruff or dry scalp? Dandruff is more oily yellow vs dry scalp. Frankly I don’t believe there’s a product out there that truly works Long term.
      My daughters hair would look greasy after showering. I highly suggest you watch his video on how to properly shampoo hair. I now put shampoo under the hair on two sides, back and top. Key is to really scrub the scalp. For my daughters hair, we bought the clarifying and redken shampoo along with proper technique has helped her hair not be so greasy. It’s lighter snd bouncy. Gets greasy on 3rd day vs greasy right away. She has fine hair.
      I have dry scalp . I highly suggest really focusing on scrubbing (not scratching) her scalp with shampoo helps some. Better than dandruff shampoo which dries out my hair and doesn’t work.
      My husband and I went low carb and we both had tremendous improvements in our scalp then after 6 months while still low carb, the dry scalp came back. Very frustrating.

  • @AMMCFSES

    I'm curious what advice you would give to someone who already goes 7+ days between washes, has tried multiple brands of dry shampoo and finds that applying it at the scalp as you demonstrate makes her scalp itch and sting within 8-12 hours of using it, and gives her dandruff by the following day?
    This has been me with all of the the following brands:
    Redkin
    IGK (both their matcha and charcoal versions)
    Living Proof
    Batiste
    Dry Bar
    Oui
    Viori (whose shampoo and conditioner bars I love though)
    As well as a DIY recipe I tried made from corn starch and cocoa.
    Doesn't matter which brand or how sparingly I used them: they all give me the same bad results on my scalp. So far, the only thing that has helped is keeping the dry shampoo away from my scalp, but applying it lightly to the hair between my ears to my shoulders to help restore some volume.
    (Final note, I don't have "salon hair" --- hell, I've found that most stylists don't even know what to do with my hair because it's very long, down to my thighs, decently thick, and, according to your quiz, a medium hair type; meaning that I can use some help with volume and oil control around my head, but the ends suck up heavier oils more like what you describe coarse hair needing.)

    • @AMMCFSES
      @AMMCFSES 11 місяців тому

      @humanbeing8400 that just gives my scalp more dry flakes (not to mention my ends do much better with less frequent washing): I actually have to lightly oil my scalp after I wash it, otherwise I get ichiness and flaking by the following day. My scalp is just naturally dry, and feels fine going that long between washes, it just reacts really badly to dry shampoo, but since I oil my ends every day, I eventually get some oil buildup from brushing, so it would be nice to restore the look without having to wash (I mean, isn't that what dry shampoo is for?)...I think I just have to use it on my hair instead of my scalp...

    • @AMMCFSES
      @AMMCFSES 11 місяців тому +1

      @humanbeing8400 Yes, I do my first wash with a bar of sulpher soap, then go in with my regular shampoo, then lightly oil with a mix of rosehip and camillia oils. Between doing that and washing infrequently, I never have a problem with dryflakes/dandruff --- unless I use dry shampoo...I mean, sure, I could just not use it and my scalp would be fine. It would just be nice to get the "express" style benefits that everybody raves about, that's all...

    I have coarse hair, so I could probably go 5+ days after using dry shampoo once. But my hair tangles more easily after use & the texture is a bit different, so I assume some product remains. I'm not sure if leaving it for too long could cause issues with the hair or scalp.

      43, been using corn starch for 30 years, my hair is very thick and very long. It is jewish, straight, extremely frizzy hair that can't handle washing often and my scalp produces next to no oil, which is a great luck, because my lenght couldn't be kept long if I had to wash all the time. I wash about once a month, sometimes two months have gone by. Sweat at the gym every other day, still no oil. Get compliments for my hair constantly, but I never tell them my secret, they wouldn't understand, with their soft, easy scandinavian hair. I've read about the clog myth too, bad stories. Don't worry about it. But you have to spend a long time brushing out the starch or dry shampoo, untill no flakes comes out anymore.

    Hi! What do you think about Living Proof or Moroccan Oil dry shampoo for fine hair? We don't have Pulp Riot here in Australia and Redken Pillow proof is always sold out

      Hey! Living proof is great for fine hair. Moroccan Oil is good but can be a bit heavy for fine hair 👍

    More of a random question - is the oribe blow drying spray worth it? I've occasionally used oribe products, but the price tag is usually mildly horrifying. I did get good results, but I'm just not sure it's totally worth it.

    • @BlowoutProfessor
      @BlowoutProfessor  2 роки тому +7

      Hey! I would always pick a blow dry cream over a blow dry spray. Oribe is fine but like you said it's overpriced and you can get the same results with more affordable products 👍

    It’s always the stylist who’s bald and barely any hair that would tell you the false narrative of the goods of using dry shampoos. Dry shampoos have a ton of chemicals and dehydrates the hair and leaves a film on the scalp that prevents hair from getting proper air flow and can lead to dry hair long term use and cause cancer if used daily or even short term. The scalp of the hair is the most abundant area that absorbs directly into the root of the hair and goes directly into your blood vessels and into your organs such as the liver , kidneys and all the important organ ventricles leading to multiples of problems later on. These two none educated hair stylist job is to only sell chemical hair products or they would be out of a job. Pure and simple. Don’t be a statistic and believe everything you hear on UA-cam and especially these two uninformed individuals. 99.999999999% of hair products are one of the many reasons why there is a health crisis. Not just hair products , our foods we eat , our environment and listening to these two very biased and brain washed so called professional hair experts *. Cough* bs
