Completely agree with the comments that dry shampoo works best when it’s used before your scalp is super oily! But for the sake of showing before and afters I thought this would be most helpful 😊
What if ur hair get really oily the next day and I’ve tried bot washing and training my hair and it doesn’t work
@@joelynej9 When you want to start training your scalp/hair first wash with a clarifying shampoo. I would suggest the clear Neutrogena one then wash again with your regular shampoo. After that initial wash I would double wash with your regular shampoo if you have very oily hair. Clarify every so often especially if you are using hair products. I would also suggest a shower filter if you have hard water. It's really good for hair and skin. Limiting hair styling products and dry shampoo is best imo as well. You have to be patient and consistent with your hair. Limiting heat styling is better for your hair as well.
@@hellokittydoll2794 I have hair extensions I can’t use stuff with sulphates so I can’t use that also I tried training my hair for 6 months still gets greasy after 1.5 days
@@seraphim9333 This is so true! I don't know why they made those with such strong smell :S
q
I spray my roots with dry shampoo at night and don’t rub it in. I wake up in the morning and it’s all rubbed in! It’s my fav tip because it requires minimal effort and it fully absorbs my oils ☺️
Came here to say that as well. Many people don't know that dry shampoo is WAY more effective if you anticipate oily hair days and use it the night before. It absorbs grease before the hair/scalp is saturated with oil
Yesss! This is the best way to use dry shampoo, I heard about it when I worked the front desk of a hair salon and it blew my mind.
Thank you! I will definitely be trying this.
I agree. It's PREVENTATIVE . Xoxo
Thank you I'll definitely try this
Hey girl! I just came back to say: I watched your video, left and searched for other videos comparing dry shampoos and they either talked too long or did not show the results so I legit came back to THANK YOU for the in depth, well put together comparison video. I am a carpenter and am so busy building sometimes that I do not have time to wash my hair and I have been on the hunt for the best DS. I hardly comment (usually just lurk LOL) but girl, you are putting in work as a creator. As a result, I just subscribed and added a bunch of your vids to my "watch later" because you literally use a bunch of products I am interested in/have. Just wanted to take a moment to appreciate you!
Abbey, I am so happy that you stuck with UA-cam after the negativity. I caught on to your videos this weekend and have been binging them ever since. You are amazing. I appreciate your content and personality. Additionally, you are thorough, and that makes a huge difference. If there is any encouragement that I can give you, it's this: I learned young just how mean others can be and how everyone has something to say and an opinion (often not too nice ones), but I also learned that I don't need to live life listening to them or paying attention to them. I can kick it to the curb and forget it right quick. I don't like the idea of others having that kind of control over my thoughts or how I feel about myself, so let's say that I lose no sleep at night. Thank you for your videos. I hope going full-time works for you. I am sending prayers and good vibes! 😁
Thank you so much 😊
I couldn’t agree more with Laura on this one. Didn’t know you were struggling with this but i totally understand that negative people can really be hard on a person. I’ve experienced a lot of it in my time and bc I wear my heart on my sleeve I can be prone to getting hurt due to this. But I just want you to know how much you’re appreciated….I respect your opinion on products, you’re incredibly thorough, and have a sweet spirit about you! Hope you keep up the good work and forget those that don’t appreciate you, they’re just unhappy souls. Happy Holidays to you both! 😁
Love that you really show your hair before and after the application - the differences are amazing!! Keep up the great, informative videos - and show some more PUPPY!!!!
I love the Not Your Mother’s one too!! They also have a fragrance free version that I use which is great
You seriously have one of the best, if not the best, review channels for products. The content is consistently interesting and useful and I have purchased so many great products due to your recommendations. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much!!
@@AbbeyYung Likes👍💯👍💯 you👍💯 want to👍💯 see👀 you👍💯 want👍👍👍 me and⌚🥇 first time⌚⌚ Likes👍💯👍💯
Great comparison video! I really appreciated the inclusion of the white cast aspect - it was forgotten for the last product, but I saw another viewer comment that there is a formulation for dark hair 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 buying it immediately
You are a trooper!! There are sooo many out there now and at soo many price points. Thank you for taking this on for us!!💕💕💕
The most important aspects of a dry shampoo to me are oil absorption and weightlessness. I tried the Redken deep clean after your hair routine video and was blown away. I love it and have never tried anything as good (I prefer it to the not your mother’s clean freak)
Would love to see how you prep and style your hair, and what products you use, so your curls hold in humidity! Thanks!
Love the Batiste bare scent - it's my absolute favorite. I did try the Tresemme but hated the way it made my hair feel. Just felt gritty and my fingers got stuck when I ran them through my hair. Would be intrigued to try the Not Your Mother's but I'm in Canada and can't anywhere that sells it apart from Amazon where it's $35!!
I love the Amika dry shampoo! I’m weird about texture and I feel like it doesn’t feel chalky like some dry shampoos do!
So helpful! Would love if you did another one of these with powder dry shampoos!
The Hask charcoal one smells amazing but the oil absorption is a bit light for me. Batiste works great but their scents are so strong! I’m excited to try Not Your Mother’s because I’ve never tried that before.
I’m about to restock on dry shampoo and watched your video to see if you had any reds better than my current, Not Your Mother’s, and was both surprised and glad it was a top rec. I have mental health issues that sometimes make it really hard to wash my hair regularly, etc. so a good dry shampoo is a must!
You have to try Batisee in the scent BARE!! It’s the same dry shampoo but the scent is sooo much more subtle and actually smells pleasant & refreshing! That’s the only scent I get from them now, the ones you reviewed are way to overpowering for me and even give me headaches.
Great tip, thank you! I get headaches as well.
Thanks, I will look into it as well
Ooohhh...good to know! Thanks for sharing! I havent tried that scent before but I sure will now
I agree! Batiste clean&light bare is my favorite dry shampoo ever and believe me I tried almost every single dry shampoo on the market both drugstore and high end.
Haha I just deleted my comment, also recommended this one!
I’ve been using Not Your Mothers unscented exclusively since the start of the Pandemic and have loved it! Came to this video as I was searching alternative dry shampoos to try out, but looks like I’m already using the best!
The Batiste classic original one is my favorite because it makes my hair look and feel so clean. If it smelled better that would be a bonus but I don't actually mind it. I need a dry shampoo that will absorb the oil and give a volume boost without feeling heavy or gross in my hair and it just does it all for me. That Clean Freak one was also pretty nice and I liked a couple of the Dove dry shampoos too, but Batiste works so great that it's my holy grail.
The batiste one for brunettes is pretty good. The smell is not too overwhelming
I absolutely love the dove dry shampoo, it is my go to. I have dark very fine hair and I don’t get a white cast and it doesn’t weigh down my hair like others have
I couldn't agree more. I currently have very dark, very long hair (nearly to my bum) and this stuff works so so well
This is the same type as mine (dark and fine) I would love to know which one you use so I can try it too!! :) im glad you found a dry shampoo for you!!
@@hintoflavender6415 the dove dry shampoo for brunettes was my go to but about a month ago I have found one that works so much better and it’s batiste dry shampoo, it does have white cast but it’s easy to work it into your hair to make it disappear.
Oh my gosh, the dedication!!! I like powder dry shampoos the best. My absolute favorite is the grapefruit one from My Hair Dance, but I also like the one from Briogeo if my scalp is iffy.
Was wondering how these compare to powders. I do like the Briogeo but only have a small sample. Never heard of that brand will look into it.
I have never left a comment on a UA-cam video, but I've been obsessed with Batiste for more than 10 years, and YES they do have subtle scents!! Some of my favorites are bare, fresh, blush, original, and wildflower 💕
The scent of blush is sooo strong! It smells horrible! I think the less scented one is the Original
@@Missquichante I just got blush and am hating it. Can’t wait to get through the bottle. My go to is tropical 🐠
After watching this I definitely think I'll be switching over to Redken! I've been a long-time user of Living Proof to get through my once-a-week washes but am glad I found this video. Since we're on the topic of dry shampoo- can you do a side-by-side of the original Living Proof dry shampoo and their new "waterless" advanced formula? I'm curious if there are true changes, let alone find it ironic that when they launched this new and much more expensive line, they also increased the prices on the original line too.
Batiste Heavenly Volume is my go to, i have very thin, fine hair and it's the only thing that actually gives me volume. I looove it!
Thank you so much for your thorough testing on these dry shampoos! As a person with dark roots and thin, oily hair, I appreciate the research! I really like one at Walmart that surprised me: Colab Dry Shampoo, the Unicorn 🦄 one. 😆 It doesn’t leave a white cast on my dark roots, absorbs oil well, and doesn’t smell too strong. I use it for the volume, too. It’s a bit smaller bottle than maybe the NYM’s or Batiste, but I just buy a bunch because that one sells out fast where I am, LOL! I just discovered your channel, subscribed, and am binge watching all your vids, LOL! Love your content! And love someone that also uses some Paula’s Choice products! 😉 God bless!
The IGK you used is their middle level. There is a noticeable difference between it and the charcoal one. Love that one for after working out or if I am super oily. You will feel it on the hair but I have found it refreshes how my hair looks in a way most others can't compete with.
Once again, thanks for trying them all out for us! Just purchased the clean freak dry shampoo, can't wait to try it!
Haven’t even watched yet but I can attest to the Redken being THE VERY VERY BEST EVER!!!❤️
This was so thorough and amazing! Batiste has also surprised me. Oil absorption is probably the main reason I go to a dry shampoo. I can totally relate with using something for a while thinking it can’t be as good as one of the other brands and gone back to the cheaper one lol.
Love your videos! So in depth and I really appreciate all the research and hard work you put in to all of them! ❤
I’ve been using Not Your Mothers for years and people never believe me when I say it’s the best! Original, Fragrance Free, Warm Sugar (people tell me I smell good when I walk by 🤣 so it’s my fav) and one for dark hair all in the clean freak lineup!
I’ve been asked if I baked cookies earlier when I’ve used that one 😂 love it
I tried but I feel like it leaves too much texture in the hair.
@@jeisicka1 yeah me too, made my hair feel kinda stringy
My favorite is Moroccan Oil Light Tones Dry Shampoo 😍 thanks for taking the time to try out and compare all of these!!!
Same! This one is really good, but I haven’t tried any of her favorites yet.
Wow! So grateful there are a few inexpensive options to try!
Thank you so much for your reviews! I just came across you and am super stoked with how much work you put into your videos. Products are so overwhelming and there's no possible way I can research like you do, so thanks for doing it for me. :) You also taught me to use dry shampoo after working out... DUH! Lol I will be getting my daughter some to use after her soccer trainings which she does 5/7 days of the week. I'm on my way to watching the rest of your videos. Thanks again!
Wow! This was great. Thank you so much for doing this research and filming each dry shampoo.
I actually use not your mother's dry shampoo and have been using it for years because it works so well and it's cheap. I love it and love to hear that it's one of the best in your video! Thanks for making a video about which one you thought was best. Ive been watching your videos since last week and have actually tried some of your tips and tricks for healthy hair and have worked tremendously for me. My ends look so much healthier now than they did before. I was already using olaplex too but after a few days my ends were looking a lil dry. I'm gonna try the ordinary oils on my ends before showering next as soon as they get to my doorstep and on my next hair wash day.
You are the best at in depth reviews!!! So glad I found your channel! You are doing such an incredible job, thank you!!! 😍💗
I’m new to dry shampoo and your channel. This was super helpful. I’m going back through your stuff and finding lots of good videos and info. Thanks!!
Thank you for the good info!!! I feel like I’ve tried so many with no luck. The best one I’ve tried thus far is the sol de janeiro dry shampoo. My hair gets super oily very quickly and that one works great for me!
I think I’ll try the Amika one! I don’t like the dry powdery look at all so this one sounds right for me. Thanks for this review. It was very helpful!
I would love to have the ratings added to your product list. It can be hard to remember which one I wanted to try. Very good and thorough comparison. Love seeing one side with dry shampoo and one side without.
I love the Pureology for the volume it adds and I have dark hair. The white cast brushes out completely for me so that’s not a problem. But I’m excited to try some of these other options to see if I can find another I like at a better price point. Thanks for the thorough review!
The only dry shampoos that I use and continue to buy are Nexxus the pink bottle and not your mother's beach babe!! Both are drugstore and smell amazing!!! The volume is better than most volume products and they both get rid of all oiliness! I would love to try some powdered ones and see how they compare to the sprays.
Yayyyyy I have been looking forever for a fragrance free dry shampoo, thanks, Abbey!
This is a great overview! I love it! Just what I needed! Thank you!
Not Your Mother's is sold out everywhere near me now LOL :( I've been looking for something to help my extremely greasy hair (less than 24 hours and it looks like an oil slick) which is also fine/thin so need some volume. This video was perfect for recommendations, exactly the info I needed thank you!
Abbey, I’ve tried most of these on my search and I am sooo particular. Hated almost all of them. I like 3 in this world currently: Oribe Gold Lust, Kenra Volumizing Dry Shampoo and TiGi Rockaholic Dry Shampoo. Try them and tell what you think. They’re for sure not drugstore, but I’d use any of my 3 over the Batiste, Not your Mothers and Living Proof any day. I’d love to hear your trials.
Have you ever tried any powder dry shampoos? I’ve used the bumble pret a powder and it seems to work well for me. Obviously it can leave a cast, but seems to work I well for me. I like it for traveling because I always do carry on only and it’s one less “liquid “ for me to squeeze in. Would love to see a comparison of different brands. I’ve also used Fekkai powder years ago.
Thank you so much for the rewiew! I am not one that has ever used dry shampoo but looking forward to trying it out.
That amazing time I found 2 bottles of Living Proof PHD on clearance at Target for $7. It was such a happy day but it ruined me for drugstore dry shampoos. Sounds like I need to try Batiste or NYM.
Thank you so much for this labor of love of a review video.
Thanks for taking the time to test these out!! How does the top 2 product’s residue compare to living proof? Are either lightweight?
I will be purchasing the igk! Thank you for making this video!
Woman, the new Anomaly one from Target is SO good. I'm getting into powder dry shampoo too
I'm currently enjoying the Moroccanoil dry shampoo for brunettes! Smells good (as Moroccanoil always does lol) and it gives natural volume for my thin hair. The darker color helps with the thin appearance too.
Great job on this video! Much appreciated!
Thank you for this video! For me I just want the best oil absorption out there and will continue using the Not Your Mother’s! Works so well and I always repurchase
So glad you did this video. I was just standing in the store this afternoon staring at dry shampoos wonder what to buy.
Loved this Abbey!❤️
I’ve been a Klorane and Bastiste lover for so long, can’t wait to try Clean Freak! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. I personally have used too many different products throughout the years and I can assure you that Batiste is my favourite. I am currently using the dark tinted one since my hair is medium brown , it gives my fine hair the volume I need although I wash my hair on daily basis cause it gets so flat if I don't. So bottom line Batiste is the best so far.
I haven’t tried more than three dry shampoos but the Batiste is my favorite of what I tried. One of the options is for dark hair and this is so much better than the white spray. I still have to rub it in or sleep on it but it is phenomenal.
I just bought the not your mothers for my sister, glad to know it’s one of your favs!
My all time fave dry shampoo that I’ve been repurchasing for years is Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo. Works for me like the Redken one does for you - leaves my hair feeling nice and non-oily and lasts for days. It does have a white cast but since I’m blonde I actually like it - gives me some new highlights lol. It’s not cheap though, so I’m excited to try out the Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo and see how that goes! My hair gets super oily since I only wash it once, maybe twice a week, so oil absorption is definitely the most important function of any dry shampoo I use. Thanks for testing all these out for us!
I love the dry bar one for the same reasons as you! Being a blonde it works out so well and it’s so oil absorbing!
@@user-tm6ij6gx7r Yes!!! I also love that they came out with a variety of scents now since I wasn’t big on the original fragrance. My two favs are Coconut Colada and Vanilla Bourbon.
You should try the Batiste Heavenly Volume. The smell is more subtle, gives volume and last me for a few days. This is my favourite right now. 😁
Thank for the reviews! I use batiste now after dove dry shampoo failed me miserably. My hair gets super oily fast and dove worked for me before, maybe it’s the formula in the brunette dry shampoo but it stopped working on me. I’m going to try some of your other recommendations!
loved this video! I've used Batiste dry shampoo for ages now. I find the Cherry scent is the best one,I
omg this is perfect timing!
Thanks for making this video. I have been looking for a dry shampoo. I plan to try the Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak first
I'm loving Not Your Mother's unscented with my brunette hair for quite some time. I have no urge to try something else :-)
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for doing this video!!! 💕💕 I’m one of those really oily girls and need the best dry shampoo just to not have to wash my hair every day! I just ordered Not your mother’s and Batiste from target!! Can’t wait to try these!!
Batiste ‘Bare’ is a really nice girly-clean scent; definitely more subtle than their other scents.
Great video! I love how much time and preparation you put into your videos.
I have tried dozens of dry shampoos and still feel like I haven't found the best. I literally have 4 different brands in my bathroom now that I'm testing. This video couldn't have come at a better time! Thank you Abbey!
I feel the same way. I just bought a Kristen Ess dry shampoo powder at target. Omg. I love it so far. I cant handle the scent, I always feel like I'm choking on aerosol when I use the spray..
@@shannonkoslova4299 me and you both!!!
@@KCB1106 I got an R+Co dry shampoo, its amazing!! I double washed and used the dry shampoo on day 3 and my hair wasnt greasy all week. It was insane.
I have only dabbled with dry shampoo over the years. I don't love aerosols or powders. Most of those I've tried either have an odor or leave a feeling in my hair that I just can't take - I HAVE to wash my hair, which counters the purpose. I found and love R+Co Spiritualized, after I couldn't tolerate the scent of a similar product from Bb any longer. I have super dry skin, and my hair doesn't get super greasy between washes. I love it!
The best one ever is the Dove Volume dry shampoo! Literally been using it for years and years , it’s amazing
I love that one but the scent is sooo strong. I feel like a walking armpit.
I use the Dove fragrance free and it's amazing!
My favorite dry shampoo is the Tigi Rockaholic dirty secret. It's one of the only aerosol sprays I've found where the scent dissipates almost immediately. The fragranced ones give me headaches. For that reason I also love the powder ones you can shake in but they are harder to apply.
This is so through! I love it. Thank you! Also have you tried Moroccanoil’s dry shampoo? I’ve experienced nothing better. SO SOFT. But it’s pricey.
Love your videos Abbey. I agree with a previous comment... ignore the mean people. Their issues are usually within themselves, not with you. You're doing a great job and I wish you all the best!!
do you know what 'base' we should look for in dry shampoos? i see some where the first ingredient after propellants is alcohol, some where it's powder/starch, i feel like there's a difference but i dont use it enough to really know if it matters. :) also i would love to know what you think about waterless brand products?
The Batiste Bare scent is amazinggggg I’m obsessed
Great video!. Batiste just put out a Wildflower scent in their dry shampoo: lotus flower, orange blossom and rose petal.
Living proof just came out with a new "advanced clean" dry shampoo and its so good!!
Ok I’m stopping to get the Not your mother’s this afternoon!!! Also what lip products do you use? I LOVE the color!!!
I know this is an old video but had to say, the morrocanoil dry shampoo is so underrated. I never see anyone talking about it. It does leave a white cast, it’s a bit more of your heavy duty oil absorption type, but it doesn’t take too long to blend it in and once done, it does a great job. Smells great and has a light tones and dark tones version. It’s also more middle of the road in terms of price point, comes in a fair bit cheaper than the likes of living proof but not down in the drugstore prices. (This comment is not sponsored 🤣)
Great video, thanks Abbey 😊💜
I love the redken it helps so much I hope maybe in the future they come out with a larger bottle, but it is my favorite
Super great job, Abbey!❤️
16 weeks?! Girl you better work it lol
I like dry bar so good 😊
Wow, thank you sooo much!❤️
M top priority is no irritation to the scalp. Mine is sensitive😩
Can you do a video on the correct way to use dry shampoo? Like what exactly do you do after you spray it? Brush it? Rub it in? Do you wait?
Very helpful tips and suggestions. Thanks 😊
This was awesome! Of all of them which would you say has the least grit/texture?
Not your mother’s is my absolute favorite! It also comes in a warm sugar scent that is delicious!
Does it leave a white cast? She didn't mention if it did or not and ive been eyeing this one but have dark hair.
@@JezikaRenee yes it does
I loved the Dove dry shampoo performance on my hair. But if it got on my face at all it burns so bad I have to wash my face. So I ended up tossing it after the 2nd time it made me wash my face. Wish I knew what ingredient it is that causes that so I know what to watch for.
Amazing timing. I have been searching for a new dry shampoo.
Great video! I love the dry shampoos from verb and bumble and bumble. I also use Amika but I can’t spray it on at night because it’s so pungent and I can’t sleep!
Have you done a video on reviews of dry conditioners? I’d love to see that!
So glad I found your channel. I was just looking for a dry shampoo and your video was very helpful. Thanks
You gotta try dry shampoo the night BEFORE you expect to wake up with greasy hair. Dry shampoo is most effective when applied before the scalp is saturated with oil/grease. Using it proactively vs reactively will work much better. Once the hair is already greasy, it's hard for dry shampoo to properly absorb everything without overusing product. Using it at night before you expect to wake up with oily hair will absorb oils throughout the night and you won't wake up with greasy hair. Using it reactively in the morning when hair is greasy is not as effective. Give it a try! It was a game-changer for me.
Will def give this a try! Thanks for sharing ✨
Thanks for the tip!! Super helpful!
Thank you for this tip!
The algorithm sent me to your channel maybe a week or less ago and I’ve been binging your videos ever since, thank you!!
