Lyrics
Yeah!
Don't look back into the sun
Now you know that the time has come
And they said it would never come for you, oh-oh-oh
Oh, my friend you haven't changed
You're looking rough and living strange
And I know you got a taste for it too oh-oh-oh
And they'll never forgive you but they won't let you go, oh no
She'll never forgive you but she won't let you go, oh no
Don't look back into the sun
You've cast your plans but you're on the run
And all the lies you said, who did you save?
But when they played that song at the Death Disco
It started fast but it ends so slow
And all the time it just reminded me of you
They'll never forgive you but they won't let you go (let me go!)
She'll never forgive you but she won't let you go, oh no
They'll never forgive you but they won't let you go (let me go!)
She'll never forgive you but she won't let you go, oh no

London really gives us good musicians...
only one of them is from london
M2782_ well. london is basically called great britain
+M2782_ The libertines are based in london! East, albion rooms, groove passage, camden etc etc. everything in London. So, he is kind of right!
Alexandra Frazão They were formed in london ill give u that
+Hogan Lerman No it's not it's 1 of 4 capital city's in 1 of 4 countries that makes up Great Britain.
During my high school years, my suburban friend played this in his car as a starter to his driving playlist on his ipod in 2009. Me, growing up poor never knowing ever having such amenities next to him was blown away from hearing even the first second to the very end of this song. Later after a few years, he ended his life. When ever I remember that this song exists every now and then , I am brought back to then on a cold flagstaff night riding shotgun with no worries or lifegoals in mind. I always felt no one after matt felt the same vibe brought by this song. I am brought with happiness with comments feeling with such positivity
I’m guessing you are American? Really nice story man ❤
God bless you, him and his family. I wish only happiness and healing to you all❤
The bass on this track is so underrated
He playing happy birthday at the start
Stark Pete 👍👍👍
Friggin' great track from a band that flew too close to the sun.
Before you start doubting the guy for his endeavours... name 1 great that was a straight head
Lovely song. Makes me feel young again.

They are good..they should make an album^^
Me to myself: (don't say it)

One of Britain's best bands. Not given the credit they deserve, wrote some truly excellent music and fantastic live. I would give my left bollock to see these guys in concert.
finally seen them this year at glasto! still smashed it!
Try the kooks
the real question is, did you or did you not exchange ur left bollock for a libs ticket?
No you wouldn't
I saw them live when they were a support act for Queens of the Stone age, I think it was in 2002. The entire gig was so good, the music the energy, everything about it was awesome. One of my favourite memories from my youth.
This song really takes me back to some great memories. I guess its true that you don’t know they’re the good old days when you’re in them, because I sure didn’t realize it.
And it chars my heart to always hear you calling, calling for the good old days
Even in 2019, inbetweeners brought me here

+Mattoafc 789 it's still so good. 8 years down the line
ANYONE UP FOR SOME CHINESE???!
The Libertines were and still are a special band for a lot of people, I have the fondest memories of them and these times, getting off my rocker. Never forget that the Future king of England got married in his Libertines Jacket x
Mister 0n Britain not England
what?
They did have a hardcore fanbase.
When Libertines were big, my brother was in a minor band, and apparently loads and loads of people had Petes mobile phone number. I think he'd just hang out and sesh with anyone, which is fair play in my book. But maybe that lifestyle got him into trouble a few times, could have been worse though, he's lucky probably
Rob Martel he did. He’s just invite anyone to hang out. 😂 they’d throw gigs in their flat!
Reminds me of too many late nights, too many hangovers, too many good times
Gavin and Stacey?
Inbetweeners?
Yes, but where in the Inbetweeners?

I served in the British Army, we got back from Iraq and my best mate Johnno was hit by a car in Newcastle when we were out on the piss… this was his favourite song… we played it at his funeral… we used to then drink to this and get smashed thinking of Johnno… whenever I hear this… I think of Johnno

The thing I love about the best of the Libertines' songs (like this one) is that they're chaotic, but still somehow hang together, returning to an underlying melody. Kind of like punk rock, in that they're not particularly sophisticated sonically, but quite unlike anything else, they have a complex structure that's satisfying. If that makes any sense?
If the drugs hadn't got in the way, maybe they could have conquered the world.
THE MUSIC got in the way of drugs ✌ bless them 🙏
DAVE The libertines conquered the world without even trying ✌
@@conkadonk4976 It did. Damn that music - ruined many of an addict's career.
two of the most dumbest and tired and untrue cliches about rock music: “it’s simple yet it’s still good!!!” , “it was made ON DRUGS!!!”. Most musical collaborations don’t last anyway and there’s nothing remarkable about a good piece of music not being ornate and convoluted, in fact its the other way around, complex music has a hard time sounding good
@@smkxodnwbwkdns8369 I agree. Mostly - chaotic can be its own kind of complex. And complex, just like simple, can be good or shite.
BTW, nice moniker, but it must be a bitch to remember?
Before any of you incredibly dynamic, and hugely successful people, start calling Peter a junkie or a crackhead etc... why not have a quick look at your own lives... No doubt all of you Non-drug-taking SOCIAL DRINKERS out there, and tee-totallers.. no doubt you've all passionately pursued your dreams, always brimming with relentless diligence, and unwavering self-belief, never slipping into any rut of personal or professional languor or lethargy, because you're all so dynamic and successful, unlike Peter Doherty of course... The loser-junkie-crackhead-Doherty - he only moves to London whilst still a teenager, learns to play the guitar, and with unrelenting belief, pursues his dream of writing songs and forming a band, he works countless jobs for crappy wages, lives in bedsits and squats, and eventually forms his beloved band, his band go on to play lots of little gigs for little money, honing the songs, and getting their band out there, and eventually his beloved band gets signed... Years later, the loser-junkie has released SIX studio albums, he's toured and travelled around the world, he's won numerous awards, he's met, and written, and worked, and performed, with some of the biggest names in music, he's played Glastonbury, been in a movie, lived in Paris, and fucked the world's most famous supermodel... and he still got bags of personality, and oozes tons of charisma... Before cursing or cussing Peter, have a look at your own achievements... or lack of them.
He is still a junkie
hardcopy bet he got better GCSE's than you
Daniel Harley bet he didn't....and he's still a junkie.
Please, please tell me you're tee-total. Otherwise your very mature, and intelligent 'junkie' comment stinks of nothing but 'hypocrisy'... Let's be fucking honest, here. ALCOHOL is a DRUG... it's a taxed, and legal, liquid drug... For example, bottles of wine, they're nothing but bottles of liquid VALIUM for the masses... Either that, or millions and millions of men and women seem to be very fond of red-and-white grape juice these days... Oh, and why not tell us ALL about your achievements. Because you're obviously not a JUNKIE, therefore, you must've achieved so much more than the 'junkie'...
onepinkrose x Yeah, you are right about alcohol, but Pete is still a junkie.
Fantastic song, such an amazing band, massive talent without even having to try.
And that was the best part indeed

This song reminds me of the good old days, with people I no longer speak or engage with for various reasons. Sad, yet beautiful in a sense. Sad that friendships are bound by energy other than loyalty & beautiful to reflect on the memories. Just because we don't speak to the people, it doesn't mean we shouldn't smile, reflect, process & move forward. Happy Sunday. Stay blessed ✌🏼
