I'm halfway through and wondering if it's worth it to watch the rest of this to see if you figured out how to use this. The two most important buttons, you ignored. Health report and system selection. That's where everything you are looking for is. Secondly, the mall is not based on what is installed in your device. Walmart doesn't just carry things you don't own. Same here. Those things are for other devices that don't come with them, not for yours which has the stuff you said it doesn't. Maybe if you update it first, you'd see it all. Now if I bail and you figure it out, just know that I don't have a lot of patience.

I have a launch X431 V Pro, it works fine on the Asian and Euro cars but can't say for the American cars. I was thinking of upgrading to the pro 5 but now am thinking twice. Thanks for the review
I just noticed as well your check engine light isn't illuminated in the on key position meaning your vehicle is not communicating. It's not the scanner it's your car
The fact that the VCM wasn’t powering up off of the DLC should’ve been a big red flag. Seems like someone needs to go back to the basics before getting a powerful scan tool.
I myself have the launch x 431v+ pro elite and love it. I noticed while you're using the profile you're saying you can't perform any actuation tests or special functions and you didn't realize or see while you're making the video that your modules are saying not equipped you either have a bad wire on the car or you're not connected right with the scanner that's why you can't have access to anything check your car out and make sure all your connections are proper and you'll be able to utilize the scanner as intended
No I was able to connect with the xtool d8 and it worked also for a lot of the thing I can do with the d8 like power balance and actuation test they were all free I didn’t have to pay an extra 108-200
I could do all that with my x431v+pro elite also out of the box. Make sure all updated. Also there are stuff that is in the mall that is already on the unit. I don't know about the Tesla but I have clicked and try to purchase some of them and it actually told me I already have the software. Lol out of the box.
And also every single my autel my snap-on and my launch when I hit common functions a lot of times it doesn't give all the functions. I always go to each module especially if I want to deal with lights and stuff like that. I go to the body module where the lights and everything should be. Try it that way. I guarantee you could do the lights. If they're electric lights you could turn lights on on your dash. I've even opened up and lowered on a 2008 enclave hatch. It's all there you just got to find it
@@johnlove5310 no I know you can go to the correlating modules but the issue I had is it would say the function was not available I know the pro 5 was more or less made for over seas vehicles either was the model I tested was pretty bad….. I ever tried cheaper brands like ancel and they seemed to work better
Manipulations are the main concern from launch they want everything extra haha. Definitely not buying it after watching this videos! I have Xtool 7 $400 Ancel 7hd for trucks $650 Autel 909 for trucks $5700 I got them right after they come out today they are cheaper But i never need it to buy let me say upgrade for DPF so a can do a regen. Was watching just to see if you would figure it out lol. I have x431v+ and expired subscription and it still will do most bi directional controls. Only issue I have had was stallantis sgw issues with new rams. Paid for autoauth to hook up and still need to renew dodge Chrysler for it to read dtc or gain access to bi directional. Also tried with 12+8 and still won’t allow me to had to renew service for those. With it expired it would still connect and read my 17 ram 3500. So for those of you looking yes it works and does a good job of it. Though I did have to use for scan to calibrate a valve body on a 6.7 ford
Thanks for the effort. When I read through their high dollar offerings they didn’t say much about American-made vehicles. They seem to be focused on the Asian market. The whole idea with scanners of not knowing what you’re gonna get until you buy it is a bunch of BS. Send that baby packing back to where it came from. When a potential customer asks ‘can you do such and such?’ Any the reply is ‘maybe’. Game over!
Yes I asked questions over and over and asked hey are these bi directional options included I always got some half as answer and to be completely honest you would spend so much money just to get the functionality of a $200-500 scan tool

I wish there was more in depth youtube reviews of those who did buy the scanners. One thing that does upset me though is that almost all of these aftermarket scan tools are Chinese, meaning partial bias, poor compatibility, but affordable-ish… Unless you buy MAC or Snap-On but that is way out of my range (in my case as a DIY/Hobbyist).

I got one 4 years ago and always was in a dark place with it… when trying to get info or training, I found out it was mad for the American Market 😵💫 I bought a new subscription some of the things are there but I’m still looking for the CYLINDER BALANCE TEST! A basic function should be free like it was when I first got it 😒 maybe we should them to get it together or no USA market😤 The may have just canceled my subscription 😂😂😂 Thanks for the second opinion.
I'm a professional tech doing full time diagnostics and programming.. Don't let this video turn u off to this tool. While I appreciate the effort taken to provide content, this video is full of misinformation and user error. Fact is the launch/thinkcar etc x431 based scan tools are among the best/highest functioning scan tools avail for the money. I use this exact tool daily and can't recommend it enough. No tool is perfect but this one is a must have.

OK but why is there option to upgrade for DPF regen, I have xtool 7 $400, ancel 7hd for trucks $650 and autel 909cv trucks $5500. They all had everything in them I do not need to buy an upgrade for dpf regen! To me looks a company that works and makes money with manipulations.
After lots of research I’ve decided to go with the Launch Pro3S+ scan tool. It does everything the Launch V+ 4.0 does along with having double the processing power (octal - core ie 8-cores compared to the quad-core ie 4-cores in the V+). My use-cases may be different than yours though so definitely check it out.

😂 Come on man. The VCM won’t power up off of the data link connector and no communication with the PCM should tell you that there is an issue on the vehicle side not the scan tool.
I was thinking about a launch but I saw in the comments on amazon that they like to nickle and dime you on the special functions... I assumed it was just on the low end model (which fair enough) but nickle and dime you on a 1800$ plus charging you for scan tool to be update.... is robbery...
Is this your first scan tool? Why didn't you do the updates before craping on the tool. My x431 pro v+ has all those options you said were missing. I didn't have to have a power cord to use. As mentioned by other posters you don't have the key interests on position. Snap on fan boi.
good quality elm 327 and a good odb2 app is all you need really for most cars, newer stuff like 2015+ you might need the xtools dongle or launch dongle paired with a good tablet

Snappy on is to dam expensive and American scanner companies are restricted in giving all newer vehicle systems. It’s hit or mis because the dealers will not allow snapon to have everything to keep the new car dealer shops happy.

Even with the most common vehicles, functions like writing new injector codes etc is not available ('not within range"). Am I going to pay for another 2 years of updates that still wont function? I have launch diagun and upgraded to x431 v+ they said upgraded version. Their is no upgraded any launch scantool they are all they function and limited to access mostly american vehicles. Mostly modules are not supported and you cannot much program keys and keyfob in this scantool you have to buy another piece garbage xprog to do key programming if does do programming. This is too much price for this kind of scantool.
Be real man! You dont even know how to use it. I own the same scanner and been using it for quite a time now.even bought the x-prog3 now and started programming with it. As for functions you need to enter each module separately to use the functions related to it.

Your vehicle obd port has an issue or your key is not turned to ON position. You dont need to connect to the cigarette lighter port to power up.

For a professional shop setting everybody that we deal with stays with autel, there must be a reason.
The main reason is they get them on a truck and are able to make payments.

Obd app wont get you half the modules, half the livedata or even half special functions a few hundred tablet will do!
