Snap! I too had a Christmas shave with a 34C. It was also my first razor. Of course, mine is only 25 days old. I used a Gillette Premium blade, not a Feather. I'm still going through the blade sampler pack I got.
I don't want to be one of those guys with 10 different razors, but I did obtain a '59 Fatboy about a week after buying the 34C, because I want to experiment with aggressiveness in an adjustable and I figured I'd get something with some history behind it. I will say that I could definitely stay with just the 34C and be happy.
I don't think II watched the channel before my first purchase, but I've definitely watched a tonne of videos in the last few weeks.
If you've watched a ton, there's probably another ton to view before you see all 600+. Thank you for your support.

I got my first DE razor for christmas, I had my first shave and it was the best shave of my life, it is King C Gillette.
Too bad Gillette won't let us sell it! I'm sure we'd sell a ton of them. Enjoy!

You are the 1 that started my single blade and safety razor shaving 6 yrs ago.
Started with a basic safety razor from walmart. Then up my chances shaving with a dovo full hollow (handle broke a few yrs ago) and loved the process of using a straight blade and how smooth my face was. Havent bought a new 1 yet). Now i use the emperor safety razor by vikings blade. Its a heavy razor but i love the adjustable blade settings on it.

The 34C is a great razor but the 510 Progress is much better. More versatility in shave adjustment height.
However I have recent been enjoying shaving with my ‘61 and ‘59 Gillette 195’s. I think they shave nearly as well as my Progress.

My 34C has been relegated to a once every couple of months use.
I'm too sentimentally attached so loathe to give it away. As i only shave twice a week inc my head, i find it does'nt have enough oomph. My go to, and favourite razor is the Progress.
Just had my first shave today with a progress 500, it's blown every other razor I own out of the water.
The Progress is a great razor!

Merry Christmas and thanks for wonderful shaving advice! I nearly gave up on DE shaving after testing multiple razors and finally tried the Merkur 34C last week. A real game changer for me. Daily shaves will be possible without any nicks, cuts or razorburn. I am looking forward to testing different blades I the future.
The Merkur 34C is a great razor. I also have a Rockwell 6C and it is great as well. My blade of choice is the Astra SP greens.

Close, the dermaplaners are usually a bit smaller and more delicate. Designed for women's fingers I guess.

You can get a great shave with safety or cartridge razors but safety are alot less expensive. The safety requires some skill which makes it more fun to shave with.
