Nothing says powerful quite like a .50cal Desert Eagle handgun. This is a great weapon in Modern Warfare Remastered and is an icon gaming weapon because of CoD4. Today's episode of In Depth focuses on what makes the Desert Eagle so good compared to the other handguns.

I'm not sure about the original Cod4, but there is DEFINITELY a fire rate cap on the deagle and the G3 in MWR, probably around 500rpm Maybe there wasn't in the original, but those of us with fast trigger fingers know there's one in this game.

I don't want to accuse you of spreading false information but CoD4 is most definitely NOT the reason the DE is iconic, this gun has featured in MANY games and films long pre-dating CoD even off the top of my head I can remember the Agents from The Matrix using the DE all the way back in 1999 and I'm fairly sure I remember it in films made in the 80's.

But the Desert Eagle wasn't mentioned by name in most of those films or games.

Gun my be popular due to CoD but in actuality and military use the Desert Eagle is impractical. Due to weight, clunckyness, recoil, and overall use.

The weapon was originally developed specifically for military use (as a combined effort between American and Israeli gun manufacturers). It being so large with such heavy recoil meant that it is impractical for military needs. It no doubt makes an excellent "get the heck away from me" impression if you use it for self-defense, but military infantry have different needs than civilians. Most military pistols are used as sidearms for officers and as self-defense weapons for vehicle crews. So being able to carry a light weapon, draw it quickly, and have low recoil for the medium to short ranges the weapon would be necessary in makes the Desert Eagle a mismatch for the role it was intended.

The magical sound of the Desert Eagle and how it looks is what made me use it always as a secondary weapon.The MW3 version was the worst,and Raven did put the ugly model from MW3 to MWR (though it looks slightly better than the mw3 one)

The Desert Eagle originally was released to the public back in 1983 and quickly became popular in films and TV because of how large and threatening the weapon is.
Arnold Schwarzenegger made the weapon famous in Commando (1985), as well as Kirkwood Smith as Boddicker in Robocop (1987).
The Punisher used the weapon in his titular film in 1989.
It's in Demolition Man.
The main characters of Miami Vice used the weapon too.
Heck, games like Resident Evil 2 (1998) Soldier of Fortune (2000), Counter-Strike (1999), and Half-Life: Opposing Force (1997) have used the gun
So the gun had quite the long history before Call of Duty 4 included it.

Anyway, deagle was always my go to on loud classes when needed but I do have to mention i took it a lot on an MP5 stealth class I used JUST to "sonar ping" people to give them the wrong idea of where I was. There used to be glorious mindgames you could play in call of duty. I loved it, i really did.

Thoughts on using this for HC S&D? The one shot kill is great but its loud as holy hell.
Why use this when an AK is also a 1 shot and is automatic with a larger magazine, the M16 is a thing, and it's more difficult to aim than most other primaries because of their longer autoaim ranges?

The Deagle is DEADLY when you run steady aim and stopping power... mainly hip-firing is the key in my opinion.

I know you are trying not to support IW but it feels like you are doing a disservice to us (your fans) we have stood with you bad games and all. I love your In Depths they make me feel smarter and better at the game. Just because you use IW to earn money doesn't mean you support the game. Pro tip for PC: Don't ADS up close with the Deagle. It's a hipfire monster and you don't have the benefit of aim assist on PC. You'll waste valuable time going into ADS when it's consistent hipfire-spray kill range is surprisingly far, even without Steady Aim. You also have the benefit of full movespeed when spraying from the hip, letting you get fancy with jumps or strafes.
Will you ever review DLC weapons in BO3? Like the new ones, I'm sure people can send you gameplay for it
Honestly, I love all the pistols in CoD4/MWR. They're all good, but I think the USP is probably the best overall

I've shot one of these in real life. It actually doesn't kick quite as bad as you'd think. A .44 magnum recoils about the same as a deagle

That's because the Desert Eagle weighs about twice as much as your average .44 Magnum revolver. The heavier the pistol, the less recoil there is. I own a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle, and the thing feels like it has as much or less recoil than a .45
It sucks that they separated the deagle and the gold deagle and tunred them into two different wapons. so for the camos and stuff you cant use the gold deagle since the headshots will NOT count towards the regular deagle challenges
