The G36C Assault Rifle was one of my favorite weapons in CoD4 and remains so for Modern Warfare Remastered. That being said, it is not a statistically great weapon and most directly compares with the M4 Carbine. Today's episode of In Depth focuses on why it is not a competitive weapon and how it contrasts with the M4.

The G36C has been one of my favorite ARs in CoD history.

In general, it's a really cool weapon platform. Most games with the G36C make it fun to use, only exception I can really think of is BF4's.

Drift0r, you completely missed a big benefit of the G36c; when you crouch, your idle sway is cut very significantly. No other gun in MWR has this feature. (technically this makes it the most accurate gun for an ACOG, but that's not a big boon)
I wish they added the reflex sight on the G36C from the Campaign into Multiplayer. I'm tired of using the same boring red dot.
Solid Snake I'm talking about the scope itself. Even with different reticles, the red dot still feels like the same old bland sight.
Solid Snake in the campaign it's like a 2x aimpoint scope. Similar to what you get on the m4 for the Charlie don't surf mission. I agree, would have been nice to choose between the two

i love the visual look of G36C and UMP-45
And you can thank Heckler and Koch, for both.
Interestingly, the G36C, in production since 1995,
fires a 5.56 x 45 cartridge, while the UMP, properly
known as the Universal Self-loading Machine Pistol,
is chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge.
Fun fact: the G36E, the export version of the G36C,
is the semi-automatic version the G36C, and is the

There's always a weapon in every game that is statistically unappealing but everyone loves and the G36C is one of them.
It is my go-to rifle in most modern shooters.
Tbh, The G36 and ASK-74U are the Jack of all Trade guns in MWR
This gun has the second most kickass weapon sound in the original. Really enjoyed using it back then.

@Fazed Out561for me i really hate the acog in cod4 it slows down your aim down sight time, increases recoil, increases idol sway, i experimented on trying the acog on the m40a3 sniper since it gives you 5% more damage giving you the ability to one shot kill anywhere in the body with stopping power and decreases aim down sight time but i still dont like it like it because it feels like my shots are going sideways

As soon as he said " statisticly not a good weapon " I got sad, loved using it in MW3.
Well in MW3 it is easily the best AR. Just doesn't stack up as well here.

Accuracy is how close to the designated target, precision is how close your shots are to each other.

The G36C had always and will always be my favorite AR in any game. From BF4 to Cod and GTA. The gun just looks cool and always will look cool.

Too late. I play the game and enjoy it. You don't and that's fine. Have fun with your boring recycled game.
Boring recycled game defines Infinite Warfare down to a T. It has so many recycled parts from previous Call of Duty games that it has practically no personality of its own. Infinite Warfare doesn't know what it wants to be.
Every CoD since MW2 has been the the same recycled material. AW tried something new, and people hated it. I wasn't a fan of it either, but I do commend them for taking such a drastic step away from the same old CoD. IW is similar to BO3, sure, but it's still new whereas COD4 isn't.

forgot to mention the fact that the g36 sway when aiming decreases based on your stance. crouching decreases it. being prone decreases it even more

Honestly, due to the low idle sway on this gun (the lowest of all automatic assault rifles), I've found it to be probably the best,
or at least the most viable automatic weapon with an ACOG scope. At the very least it's pretty fun throwing bursts down range with the ACOG on the G36c, I'd highly reccomend you give it a shot :D

Personally I do much better with the G36C than most of the other weapons in the game and I have no idea why.
+palerider78 The way a weapon feels to you is very important. You may not do very well with the statistically best gun in a game just because it doesn't feel very good to you. If a weapon feels right to you you do better with it.
"CoD4 is balanced"
Really like this gun too. I find stopping power and silencer to be my fave set up with it. While yes that rear iron sight is bulky, I'm the opposite. I do really well with long range kills with it. Like you said it's so precise.
Back in MW3 this was my most used fully automatic assault rifle. Just a great all around weapon you really couldn't go wrong setting up classes. My favorite was to run overkill with sleight of hand and the PM-9 using a steady aim.
It was my most used as well. Even to the point of spending points to unlock it at level 1.
Gun was a beast. I used to use Scavenger Pro, Assassin Pro, Marksman Pro along with Focus and Silencer.
Personally, out of every CoD game. The G36C was my absolute favourite, the way it looked and sounded. When it came back in MW3 It was my first Permanent Unlock. Used in the right hands... It's a Monster.
I always loved to use this with a suppressor and double tap! :D

M.Syafiq 555 use m4 with double tap it sound like a pack a punch weapon and it's pretty much cheating
I'm not sure if all other ARs are like this, but the G36C has much less recoil while crouched/prone, at least with iron sights or silencer. I haven't tested with RDS or ACOG.
For some reason I also loved the G36C in CoD4, and I tended to hip-fire with it a lot with surprisingly consistent results. Consistently *good* results, that is!
G36C in Rainbow Six Siege is awesome so not the best gun in the game in my opinion
Also can be use with Double Tap Perk.
Thanks for the info on the recoil. That explains why it's the only AR I can get consistent kills with.

i dont understand how people dont like the iron sights, i prefer using suppressors over red dot any day
I feel like half the bullets i shoot from this gun don't hit for some reason

I'll be honest, I dunno about a lot of people, but at least for the M4 I love running ACOG once I get used it. It's how I get most of my headshots for running Camos. I just got Blue tiger the other day and it's my first gun to get beyond digital. Including my snipers. Don't remember how good or useless it is on the G36 though. I used it a lot back in the day but I can't remember.

Besides having to burst from long range (which is basically every ar) it's a good gun and the best ar for me. K/d wise.
Unless this has changed since CoD4, the M16 had faster swap times than the G36c.

I love the G36 family of rifles in just about every game it shows up in. In real life, this is still a pretty good gun sans the proprietary magazines.

The G36 iron sights remind me of the Kuda from Black Ops 3

have u played titanfall 2 driftor? I'm a battlefield fan but tf2 is my favorite game at the moment , would u consider a titanfall 2 in depth? u could do a lot with the weapons and titan loadouts
Forgot to mention the glitch when you put a suppressor on it. Knifing is almost impossible.

I think personally it is a statistically good weapon. What separates it from assault rifles is that it is as a matter of fact a carbine. A rifle design for close range.
M16 has a faster swap time. 0.35 vs 0.4 seconds on the G36C
Favorite AR in the game. M16 is more OP but this one is just satisfying to shoot.
This weapon is gold with double tap on hardcore. Legit Gold

I don't know why but I love this gun for some reason.
I remember someone telling me the gun isn't all that great, but it has a one shot kill if it's to the head. Keep in mind that I was told this back in the COD4 days. Might of misunderstood him, or he just one shot killed a damaged enemy a couple times, and came to that conclusion.
