  • To celebrate 50 years of guitar making, Michael Millard and the Froggy Bottom team made a special batch of 50th Anniversary guitars in 2020. Each one was custom built for each client in the model of their choice, with personalized details like hand-engraved heelcaps from artist Petria Mitchell, and made of 5A grade rosewood and master-grade spruce.
    This M model, number 5 of 18, is a full-bodied mid-size guitar with a curvaceous shape, perfect for any fans of OMs and Grand Concerts. The old growth 1876 German spruce top is matched with uniquely gorgeous Brazilian rosewood. The tone is delectably balanced and warm; intimate, but with a restrained power that can be unleashed when needed. Each sweet note decays and lingers just as long as it should. This is one of the last guitars that Michael Millard helped craft while at Froggy, so it's a special opportunity to play one built by the master himself!

    That is one exceptional instrument. I've always been a D-28 man but I'm leaning more towards an 0M nowadays. Thank you for posting.

      Agree, it really does have a haunting quality. Amazing how different these acoustics can sound even if they are made of the same materials.

      Can I ask what makes this guitar worth the price? Does it sound that much better than guitars you can buy for $5000?

      @@nicetalkintoya - subjective. Also depends on rarity and figuring on tonewoods used and other bling.Plus there's more attention to tuning the soundboard and overall, more human interaction in every phase of the construction. If you really want some sticker shock, look at Jeff Traugotts price list. Make sure you're sitting down, first.

      @@Last_one_before_I_go Wow... 30K base price... You weren't kidding. My understanding is Michael Millard has retired and this was among the last guitars he personally worked on. Given that fact, plus the materials used in this guitar, do you think it would retain its value over time?

    • @Last_one_before_I_go
      @Last_one_before_I_go 2 роки тому +1

      @@nicetalkintoya - I hadn't remembered the price when I posted my previous responses. The guitar sounds stellar. The materials used in construction are top grade. Is it worth $18K on the used market? I'd be interested to know what it sold for originally. Froggy Bottom is a well respected boutique manufacturer, so you're paying for more hands involved in the development and refinement of this instrument to play at it's best. Of course you're also paying for the the provenance of this being the last lot built with Millards hands on it. Kind of like a baseball card - what's it worth to the holder? Will this guitar appreciate in value? Probably yes, and will have particular value for someone who's a specific fan of this manufacturer. Don't buy it with the intent on flipping it. Buy something like this because it speaks to you, it becomes an extension of you while you play it and you find the tone is exactly what you're looking for. Don't buy it with the intention of trying to recoup your price, buy it because it gives you joy every time you pick it up. Sorry for the vague answer. Good Luck

      @@hannibal8885 Yes, it is the Dunlop as Roscoe mentioned.. but its the larger triangle size... I like the jazz III size as well. I believe they make a regular teardrop shape too.

      According to their write-up about the 50th anniversary guitars, he was retiring...but maybe he decided not to!
