I can really recommend Hannah Louise Poston on UA-cam for great content on figuring out your personal style and building a wardrobe without falling into the traps of consumerism! I absolutely love her content (she does the same with beauty too) and I've literally learned so much from her fashion videos, or video essays almost. Very well thought out and applicable!
With the measurements thing - make note of the difference between a favourite shirt across the bust/waist/hips and your actual bust/waist/hips. This is called ease and knowing how much ease you like in different garments will be a gamechanger for shopping online. Eg if a shirt has 2cm ease and you know you like 12cm, even though it will technically fit you - you probs won't wear it because it will feel uncomfortable. Remember stretchy clothes will often have negative ease (smaller than your measurements). Good luck! ❤
Nonwhite and/or non straight sized personal style creators on UA-cam: Made You Looks Karina Gomez Maddie Dragsbaek Yo Homegirl Politics and Fashion Thessely Juliet Leena Norms Blueprint DIY (more so DIY tutorials but lots of styling too!) They also all have very different style languages from each other, which can be quite helpful because so often style advice comes through the lens of a very narrow aesthetic window.
For the black work clothes person....jackets!! Having a couple of nice pieces of outerwear, a jacket/cardi etc thats a bit more bold is great to add over simple outfits.
I can't believe I've been watching your videos for 7(!!!!!!) years. I just have to say I love growing up together in that way and seeing your not only fashion and personal style evolve, but also your videos. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Get to know Fabrics! Figure out what fabrics you love and what you don't love. I can't stand t-shirts with polyester in them because they look terrible after a couple washes
I hate polyester as well, the feel of it and living in a warm climate, it's a big no no, and to the retailers that point out it's recycled polyester, it's still a big NO NO
On asking 2nd hand sellers to provide clothing measurements: If you're shopping on Vinted, this is a devisive topic (according to dicussions on Reddit). If you ask for measurements, don't be offended if the seller doesn't respond! There are a lot of sellers on Vinted who - if they're selling an item for under £10 - don't feel it's worth their time to provide measurements. A lot of them have been "burned" in the past by providing this information to a buyer who then ghosts them and doesn't buy, and they end up being able to sell their item someone who hasn't asked for measurements. Don't get me wrong, I'm in the camp of asking for measurements because I want to know something will fit before buying, but it's something to bear in mind. If you're ignored, unfortunately you just have to move on. Also many people don't own tape measures.
Jessica Neistadt talks a lot about how to elevate your style with simple changes/accessories! She is Filipino and, while I believe she's also straight-sized like the creators you mentioned, she's curvy and has some really helpful videos on how to style yourself if you have larger breasts etc.
Of the second hand online ones, I find Vinted to have low prices. And you can send offers to the sellers lower than their asking price and see if it works. I often accept offers on what I sell there, and I have had offers accepted when buying too meaning paying less - always worth asking if someone will sell for slightly less 😊
I looked on your blog to try and find the top you are wearing in this video because i think it is so cute! Is it an oldie or very new and just not added yet? Also, I am moving soon and trying to work more in seasons/have a more intentional wardrobe focussed on longevity so this video was just what I needed!
I am desperate to refresh my wardrobe, I only wear sporty stuff and grey and black. The thing is though, I LIKE that I only wear grey and black. I wish I knew how to change my style without changing the color

Agreed- I'll also add that Alyssa Beltempo on YT has revolutionized how I think about styling!

I love this, what a great idea! no wonder I hate so many SH things I bought online even though they technically fit
Clothing tape measures are usually abundant in charity shops - definitely cheaper than Amazon and better for the environment !!

Thanks for answering my question about online secondhand shopping! Will try applying your tips :)
