Lonely Gimmick presents its third release, "Blue Ticked Influencer" takes inspiration from lo-fi rock icon Mac Demarco using mostly guitars and a heavy does of chorus pedal to craft a catchy melody. Layerings of background vocals and synths create an astral vibe while the lo-fi lovable glockenspiel completes the indie soaked track. The lyrics and title are of course a comment and criticism on the social media driven times we live in. It critiques the self important attitude that can absorb a person because of the number of "likes" and "followers" they have/attain. The lyrics directly reference the reality TV show "Love Island" which stars many so called "Influencers" calling them and their "abstract beauty" empty. The message of the song being beauty isn't everything, your self worth is not determined by your social media presence or how many followers/likes you have. There are many hidden gems in this universe and we should learn to humble ourselves to our insignificance. As the cover art for the track says "we are all nothing but ants on a speck of dust floating in space"

This song is a gem of an art. I love the description for this song even more. Social media can drive one to depression. It can make people sitting behind their screens, looking at the so-called influencers and wondering why they weren't born as beautiful or gorgeous, feel worthless. The act of deriving pleasure from instant validation is dangerous. I try to stay away from social media as much as possible because one, my privacy matters to me and two, I believe I wasn't born to please everyone on this planet. Let your knowledge and your good deeds towards making the world a better place to live in, speak for you. Actions always speak louder than words.
I am so glad you read that comment and decided to come here as well, thank you so much for the detailed comment, it makes me very happy to know you connected with the meaning of my lyrics and message of the song. The world we live in is a strange place. As I get older I realize it has always been. I thought it was just recently but you start to notice patterns from the little history of the world we are taught. I see so many injustices going on daily with the majority of the population turning a blind eye, when you bring up these situations in conversation I find the response is usually negative and/or detached. We have a built a society that in order to survive you must only concentrate on yourself or worry about a small amount of people. We value easy, instant gratification over real accomplishment. Attention trumps talent. Some of the most inspired and talented artists and musicians I know are broke. I feel powerless most of the time to be able to help or change, I have a suspicion the system was designed this way, you are either born into power or you are not. We still live in times of medieval politics. Instead of trying to face our problems we turn to shallow and empty means of escape, reality tv, Instagram influences and celebrities. I think we use it as a numbing effect. I know I like to escape this world using sci-fi or music so in the end I am no better. The only way I feel I can vent my frustration is to write. The music creation process is a type of meditation for me. You are very right about social media being dangerous, I find even after just scrolling through it I feel worse, most of the posts I see are negative, Ricky Gervais said something about it I think is very poetic, "We live our lives like an open sore". For this reason I am trying to release my music as anonymously as possible. I don't want it to be about just one person but more about the message and music, not the image if that makes sense. Anyway, sorry for the ramble lol, as long as we keep trying to make the world a better place that is the important thing. I hope to hear again from you on my future tracks, much love

Whoever said that is thinking about it too objectively, just like when I do art all the imperfections give it character and my drawings resonate with some people more than others.
