Strongly disagree with the use of drone shots. On open courses it is the best way to get a sense of scale, landing zone position, shot options, and shot shapes. Yes it is an open course, but just using ground level shots isn't going to trick us into thinking its not, the drones can help tell the story you so desperately want. Hell, give the commentary team the ability to draw on the screen like old school Madden replay. I was at this event and honestly the coverage and the caddie book maps do a crap job of showing the holes and the shots actually involved. I think the drone is the best tool to do that, maybe not as they are currently using it, but just using it to show the gallery is just short sited.
it's the same as all modern sport events televised - they have to hook the audience - and make it easy for some to understand.. it's not FOR YOU ! You know how hockey has those ridiculous drone cameras around the edges and boxes and computer generated hi-lites to make it 'easier' for some to follow.. same ditch - and it's not going to change until the floor drops out and the game loses popularity - which in my area it's lost impact big time if I compare just 2 years ago. 10% of people out now compared to then. - I don't disagree with you though.. a basic overview at the start of a match would be fine but not them zinging around each time a drive is set. It's so silly .
I only watch post produced. Jomez gang is great plus they all play in the tournament, so you get real commentary on the conditions too. Along with probably statistics Honk! I just have to stay off FB all weekend lol Not such a bad thing anyway.

I like the overhead drone shots where you can see the disc fly. It's one of the few change ups in this type of coverage. I wish they could list up the miles per hour of the throws or the discs that these guys are throwing to give us some more information to take in.

These Swiss only episodes are the format I prefer. The dual commentary on this channel can be hard to listen to.

The worst problem I see in disc golf is DGPT trying to sell 480p20 as 1080p60. The future will despise them for ruining disc golf coverage by taking it backwards 15 years or more.
Just seems like there's to much complaining about everything about disc golf when i can remember just being so happy there was any coverage.

2:38 bro what are you talking about? They don’t use nearly enough drone coverage on any DPT coverage… It’s the best way to get a sense for how far they’re throwing and they should use it way more often.

Personally I think most if not all of your criticisms of live coverage on open DG courses also applies to the woods courses. Live coverage overall is just boring. Which is a big reason I watch post produced coverage...that and it is difficult to watch live on my time zone.

Agreed. For me, it was one of the dumbest things I''ve ever seen, and I once did sound for a metal band at an amateur MMA event where the promoter wanted the band to play while the matches were happening and stop playing during the breaks.

They DO need more overhead drone coverage of shots. Ball golf uses it all the time.
The Q series thing is dumb. Plain and simple. It was supposed to be about helping people earn a tour card. Instead it’s just touring pros with cards , grabbing money from the up and comers
Pretty far reaching on the criticism of the coverage… you lost me at “too many drone shots” lol it’s not perfect but it’s far from bad for anyone who calls themself a disc golf enthusiast. I personally enjoyed the live coverage, and I think the style of course was as good as it can get. We all knew the swing from DDO would feature more of the open courses. After events like MCO and Champions Cup, I’m sure some pros appreciate the change.

This is a joke.
I think the biggest problem isn’t commentary, it’s that it doesn’t seem professional in the first place. We’ve made it overly accessible to “big beard vape dudes” without having a better dress code for the real pros. Disc golf is just too silly sometimes, not even in light of itself like ball golf will typically do. Since we start off incredibly informal, anything goofy makes it look even sillier. Example being the sax guy. Kind of fun, sure… but with everyone under the tent looking like they are in a vape shop wearing their favorite T-shirt it just makes it that less professional.
If it doesn’t look professional, new people won’t look at it as a professional sport.
Maybe I’m being too critical? Thats the reason I’m not buying discs though: just overproduced, overstimulating discs / stamps.

It's not a professional sport. There's prize money to be had, but everything about the DGPT is amateur.
